Dolly Parton is someone

that I've looked up to
for a long time.

I actually won
a Dolly Parton competition,

and I won a signed guitar
from her.

Dolly -- she's been singing
for pretty much her whole life.

I really connect with that

because I started
when I was nine,

but now I usually do about
200 shows a year.

You know, and being able
to travel is awesome,

especially coming
from such a small town.

68 people.
It is not big at all.

We don't even know our
neighbors, which is hilarious.

It was so amazing
to get four people

that I absolutely look up to,
to turn around.

Just insane.

When I was just a little kid,
I was in a tornado.

It ripped through Missouri.

We were actually in my parents'
business at the time.

It ripped the roof off and blew
the sides of the walls down,

and then out of nowhere, you
just saw power lines snapping,

just everything exploding.

We got out.

We made it to our car
and we made it home.

After being in the tornado,

it gave me really bad
separation anxiety.

I couldn't be away
from my parents.

Being able to play has really
been a release for me,

and now I'm like 100% better.

I credit music for that.

When you're doing
the "Joleeene," just...

on the eye contact.

I just made eye contact

and taking myself back

For me, I think about my grandma
that I lost a few years ago.

My grandparents were the ones
that loved music.

My grandpa actually passed away
the year I was born,

and I think that's why
me and my grandma

had such an incredible bond.

My grandma was my best friend,
my number-one supporter.

She was everything to me.

Even to this day,
I miss her every single day.

She would just tell me
to have fun

and go do what I know
how to do best.

She would say,

That's exactly
what she would say.

You know what's so cool
is to hear your style of voice

I felt like that was
super understated,

but just enough

I know that 12-year-old me
would be over the moon

to be singing
an Ed Sheeran song on TV.

to physical therapy school,

just making music work

because I'm actually
traveling to Nashville

multiple times a week.

But to see her doing well
is really inspiring.

And I'm able to chase
my dream now,

and it's really exciting 'cause
I ended up at "The Voice."

What excites me the most

with my grandfather

has been
a huge inspiration to me.

The storytelling aspects
