that finish line no matter what.

been on a journey

and we were wondering when
we were gonna see other people

And we happen to
be the only full team

of three remaining as well,

so that is a huge
accomplishment.

But, now that we're
here at our new location,

we have to rebuild,
we're with new people,

there are seven of
us, issues could arise

with personalities,
group dynamics,

now scaring away all the
animals, it's still a lot of unknowns.

We're gonna need the
whole group coming together

- to finish this thing strong.

You know, 60 days is no
walk in the park by itself,

but being out here in
Louisiana during winter

is an incredibly
difficult task to survive.

So, our best bet is to kind of
hunker down and live under one roof.

And we all want to
finish it seven strong.

I don't know what we're gonna
do about the shelter situation.

I don't think that's big
enough for all of us.

But it's too late.

And clouds been pushing in.

Maybe, there's a storm
coming, I don't know.

Whoever's the most cold
susceptive, we put it in there.

The rest of us can cowboy up.

have just arrived as well,

so there is no structure,
just a bare skeleton

and it's going to be 40 degrees,

so we're going to be out
fighting the cold all night.

I'm so excited to be here.

I'm not knee, ankle,
crotch deep in mud.

On high ground. I'm stoked.

Mission tonight, grab as
much firewood as possible.

It's gonna be cold. We don't have
that much of a shelter big enough

for everybody to fit in.

So, I'm gonna be camping
out under the stars.

And I want to
make sure I'm warm.

I think Rylie needs
to be in there.

Yeah, sounds like a plan.

[Steven] Tonight is
gonna be a cold [bleep].

It feels like it's

Here it is. First day
in our new location.

- We are cowboy camping.

Um, where I feel like
that's an insult to a cowboy

'cause I'm pretty sure their
asses would've built something.

It has now drizzled on us for
the first two hours of the night.

The wind is blowing.

We miss our nice
shelters that we left.

And I'm happy to be here.

But, just not comfortable
being here quite yet.

We're camping under the
stars in frigid cold temperatures.

With a light drizzle falling.

[Rylie] It's too
[bleep] cold to get wet.

So hard to smile.

But, I can take our
foot off the gas now.

See how we can continue
thriving in this wretched swamp.

It was probably 35
degrees last night.

It started raining,
it got really cold.

What do you want? Um,
I got zero sleep last night.

You could hear the wind howling,

feel the temperature dropping.

It was bone chilling cold.

We have to do something
about the shelter.

It's probably time when
you started on the shelter.

So, this way we're gonna be
cowboying it up again tonight.

Yeah, if we don't
get to work, for sure.

Make it in a-frame, all the way
out to that other tree right there.

Would be perfect.

[Ryan] Last night with
the cold temperatures,

I pretty much
stayed up all night.

So, our number one
and only goal and agenda

for the day is to get
a group shelter built.

So I'm getting poles, you're gonna,
you're gonna start the structure?

Yeah.

We all know what
needs to be done

and everyone's just picking a
job and taking their own reins on it.

We got EJ and
Steven across the canal

harvesting a few
100 palm fronds.

We've got Max, the boat man,
ferrying those palm fronds across.

[Rylie] I'm gonna
start hauling 'em up.

[Grunts] Let's start
off with this bunch.

[Ryan] And Rylie's
grabbing the palm fronds

and delivering them
up to our home tree.

Guys, I'm gonna
put these here, okay?

Appreciate it.

[Ryan] Jeff's out and
collecting all the poles

that we're going to
need for the framework

of this shelter.

Matt and I, we are
putting up the ridge poles

and creating this new
a-frame that we're constructing,

we're building a pretty massive
structure to fit all seven of us.

We're all burning between
1,000 and 2,000 calories today,

but we got to do what we got to
do to survive and make it to day 60.

So, the, this a-frame's
come along good.

The structure should
actually have a lot of heat,

should hold a lot of heat and and
that's going to be huge out here

because... as you can see,

it's cold.

[Grunts]

- Yeah, yeah.
- [Rylie] Yeah, EJ, you got this.

Bring four, four level
beds, down there is fine,

so that's three, we just
need one, two, three, four.

When you get to legends level,

there is serious engineering
that goes into building a shelter.

I've collected all of the
horizontal support beams.

These are what's going
to hold all the palms

to the top of the shelter,

which is our main
source of waterproofing,

move it over a little bit 'cause
we're getting too much overlap

and we're going to
run out of palmage.

We're are not really building
survival shelters at this point.

We're building houses and
we're pretty damn good at it.

Damn, that's looking good.

Look at the square footage of
our roof. It's [bleep] enormous.

This is really awesome.

All seven working
their butts off.

Building a shelter
together as a team.

- Maybe a little lower.
- I know I'm gonna just hooking in.

- It's slightly darker.

I've never seen a group
on a Naked and Afraid XL

work so cohesively on day
one of being together as a group.

Oh, yeah. I put that right down
the middle, we'll build a fire around it.

Right there's good. Perfect.

That thing is magnificent.

Man, it's the biggest thing to
happen in Naked and Afraid ever.

[Steven] We have a giant trench
fire with some big feeder logs

and getting the
hot bed of coals.

We used over 200 giant palms.

And we're getting the
temperature up in here.

Tonight, we're gonna stay warm.

We're gonna stay
as dry as we can

and, uh, you know,
we have to or else,

we probably wouldn't make it.

That fire system is
Gary Goldies'' tribute to us

called the Goldie
furnace fire system.

And it will warm
us up inside there.

And we will all be fine.

[Steven] Holy [bleep].
Good work, guys.

Like, I'm impressed.

It is insanely cold outside.

But it is freaking hot
in the shelter right now.

[Snoring]

[Snoring loudly]

- [Ryan] Well, we got blue skies and sun today.
- [Matt] Yeah.

But, I'll tell you what, it
ain't warm. It's cold as hell.

We've built an incredible shelter
right over our grandfather oak

big enough to keep
everybody warm and dry.

We slept great and now we can
focus on putting food on the table.

It's day 53, long time.

And we know, we know
anything can happen.

If we can't find what we
need out of this place,

that will determine if we
were able to live here or not.

[Matt] We still got a lot of work
to do before we get out of here

'cause that extraction,
it's gonna be no joke.

[Narrator] Still one week and seven
miles from their extraction point.

The survivalists will eventually
have to travel northeast

across freezing waterways

to reach their
final destination.

- Well, I tell you, it's not gonna be easy.
- Uh-uh.

That's right.

- Let's crush, guys.

but I got four lines
passively set right now.

Um, I literally just got
my whole little setup here.

- I'm gonna set up a... Four snares.

Kind of, like, along
this line on the canal.

There seems to be a lot
of foot traffic over here.

So, I'm going to work this
wood line here and set a couple.

[Steven] When it gets cold,
the alligators to the snakes,

they go dormant,
cat fish and mammals

are the only thing that's
going to be moving around.

Hopefully, we need
a raccoon or a nutria.

But, we're all weaker.

Uh, we've all been out
here for two months.

Uh, we haven't
eaten in a few days.

So, we need to get
some food in our bellies.

I'm creating a funnel system.

A game trail comes
right down in here

and it goes right up in there,

kind of funnels them into it to
make them go straight through it.

I'm going to keep
putting these sticks up

and then I'm gonna add
some foliage all around it

to kind of camouflage the area.

And hopefully it'll force
our critter indoor trap.

All right, one
down, three to go.

Going to start. [Sighs]
Over here a little bit.

We got to find the right
trail to walk through.

[Matt] So, this new land
looks like a hunter's paradise.

I see deer tracks,
I see deer scat.

I've seen hog sign.

Without a doubt, we are now
in a game rich environment.

I found multiple game
trails coming from the north.

And so now, I'm trying
to reverse track 'em.

My plan is to actually follow
some of these game trails out.

Because, there's seven of us, what
we need is that big kill for us to survive.

Right here, I'm
marking the trail as I go.

Making sure I can find it again.

Great, so these
are nice and funky.

And...

Back in the water.

Yeah, right through here.

Oh, that's a, that's
a beautiful trail.

- Yeah.
- [Jeff] EJ and I we're looking for any signs of mammals,

or anything that we can
eat, I like to yell and scream.

And that may tend to
scare all the animals away.

So, out of a matter of
respect to the rest of the team

and to try to be more quiet.

[EJ] Can you see where
the grass is pushed down?

- Yeah, right here over that log.
- Yeah.

- [Jeff] That's a definite game trail right there.
- [EJ] Yeah.

Oh, my gosh. Dude, look at this.

That's bear scat. This
could be this morning.

Yeah.

[Jeff] There's a whole pile of black bears
scat right in the middle of the trail.

I'm very familiar with
bears and Steven and I,

we had that big bear
come into our first location

and night after
night after night.

And, so something
to pay attention to.

Oh, yeah, definitely.

- Dude, that... that's a late one.
- Yeah.

- That stuff's super fresh.
- Yeah.

I thought I heard something.

[Whispers]

[Thuds]

Jeff and I have an armadillo.

Cornered in these briars.

Jeff's trying to swing around, around
so he doesn't get away that way.

Maybe push him towards me.

I think I hit him, but
he's already played it.

So, might not have worked.

All right. Bring him to me.

[Yells]

He's coming back towards you.

There he is. He's about
five feet in front of me.

Trying to make his way out.

He's coming back

He's behind us, he's
breached our perimeter.

- He's back into the woods.
- He's in the woods?

- Yep. He's taken off.

He knew he was
safe in those thorns,

no predator on this earth could
have gotten him in those thorns.

I thought we're gonna
have dinner for the group.

Today, Rylie and I are
going to cruise on the canoe

and set a couple gator lines.

with the craftsmanship of this.

Uh, EJ and Max
did an amazing job.

I've never seen anyone do a
dugout canoe in a challenge

and I think they crushed it.

I'm ready to jump on a gator.

- I'll punch a three foot gator in the face right now.

[Max] I've been on a
previous challenge with Rylie.

We made it frickin' 40 days
together all the way to the end.

But, on this challenge,
the finish line is 60,

so we're still a long
ways from home.

I see the overhanging
tree, I'm gonna go for it,

- you see that one hanging?
- Yeah, I see it, it's perfect.

- Yeah.
- It's perfect.

[Rylie] If it stays this cold, we
probably won't see any gators,

but if it happens to warm
up, we want to be ready.

If the gators are on the
move, I think we have a shot.

Setting a passive line, not
having to bust ass all the time

and try to actively hunt is
I think is the easiest way

for us to keep calories as
well as get potential calories.

I want to be able to contribute
on a mass scale to these legends.

- I tell you, my stomach's growling so bad.

Three days like this now.

[All] Yeah.

[EJ] I'm finding ways
to get some wins here.

Pump us back up.

We haven't eaten anything
since we've gotten to this location.

We need food. We need food bad.

We took that risk,
we moved here.

We all wanted to
do bigger, better.

Where there's a will, there's a
way, there's, you know, we'll find it.

There's plenty of will here.

squeeze out of this environment,

I set up some spring
snares on this game trail.

It looks like my stake actually
got ripped out of the ground.

So, it hit my stake and
it flipped my stake up,

so I'm gonna reset this.

Now it's been tough.

We've, we've all had
this uphill battle out here,

but everybody's
playing their part

to get as much food on the table to
get us through this next extraction,

which is like a week away,
less than a week away.

These are like, hairline
trigger sensitive, so...

I gotta be super careful.

Extraction's never easy and
the weather being this chilly.

Uh, it's gonna take a lot out
of it, so it's all hands on deck.

Okay.

I saw this dirt kicked up.

This is a great spot. Let's
see where I can set up a blind.

The plan is to head out and
really put in some good hours

to try to find some game.

It's a tricky thing out here in
this swamp to find this big game.

The best bet is to get up high
in a tree and try and figure out

how these animals move
and where they're moving.

It seems to be a
very good spot to sit.

My human sense
getting above the animals,

have a really good
vantage point right now.

It's beautiful for you,
but I'll tell you what...

Freezing cold.

Got my hide wrapped around me,

doing my very best to try
and keep myself warm enough

to not shiver and
fall out of this tree.

Boys went way down here
to go fishing in the big canal.

I see these dens around here.

There's a nice little
hole here in that dirt.

It's not even packed down.

It's not quite.

These dens are loaded with
these sticks, as if they're insulated.

There's one den.
There's another den there.

Another den right there.

Based on all the
prints that I'm seeing,

most likely it's armadillo.

EJ and Jeff saw one,
so they're around.

Dude, look at
that. Look at this.

This right here is blocking
the hole, down in this hole.

That is 100% insulation,
100% something inside.

This is gonna be some
serious excavating.

I've never swung an axe
naked in 50 degree weather.

That's concerning.

Seems like there's a bigger
hole on the left has dried up.

And I found the end of it,

there's nothing in it, which
just surprises the hell out of me.

These holes are quite deep.

And I'm gonna go check one more.

I think I got my shooting
lane established,

I've cleared out my blind a bit.

I can see him coming down that
way under all this nice cover right here.

Uh-oh, first shot, nice window.

[Whooshes] Boom.

Then huge window
of opportunity, boom.

I wanna back something
and help provide for my family.

My clan, and I will.

I'm in place now and I'm gonna sit
here and wait and see what happens.

Yeah, I hate to see that.

To be a savage, to
be the jungle warrior,

takes that perseverance.

Today, unsuccessful
so far, but not giving up.

The heat pouring out of these holes,
it's surely got to be the body heat

from an animal.

I don't know what it is, but I hate
sticking my arm in these things.

Something's in there.

If this happens to be an actual
livable den with something in it,

that would be a big win.

So, I don't want to go back to camp
after being gone this long empty handed.

It's like digging for gold.

I haven't seen anything, haven't
heard anything. It's pretty quiet.

I'm gonna head
back, I'm freezing.

I need to get warmed up.

It's like little pieces of
dirt just falling in there,

but I thought I heard
something two times.

[Groans]

I don't want to get bit.

I've been in this tree
now for about six hours.

It's cold. It's
gotten pretty hard.

For more calories right
now... The whole day

trying to stay warm,
so I'll head back to camp

and figure out what I'm
gonna come back out here.

This place is frustrating
the hell out of me.

This goes a ways.

Everything just seems
so fresh, I just don't know.

Armadillos are known to burrow
five feet in depth below the ground

and then possibly another
25 feet underground

to the end of the burrow.

Jeez.

Seriously, if all
these connects,

I mean I could just be learning.

Feel like I've gotten down to the
depth of where this burrow goes.

But, if it goes 25 feet
underground somewhere

and connecting
the multiple holes,

then I think it's going
to be a lost cause.

So, one, two, three, four.

I'm burning a lot of
energy, a lot of calories

and kind of disappointing because
that's a big meal to give up on.

Total bummer.

hogs have been playing hard to get

savage arrow's a little tougher.

little bit of a armadillo stew tonight.

People don't generally

From what I've
heard. I don't know.

What I've read when I
studied on it is the leprosy part

comes actually from the feces.

so we made sure we
watched this thing...

There's a big old bear just
feet away from our shelter.

It's going this way.

It's crazy.

Last night was game changing.

Got a visual on something
big and hairy and black fur.

So, it could have been
a hog or a black bear.

It had to have been a bear.

Insane. Insane.

I was legitimately concerned,
I was afraid last night.

And that's something me and Jeff
don't want to deal with ever again.

After that, we kept our ears
and eyes open for a while,

but, uh, you know, eventually
we got a little bit of sleep.

We're gonna keep
doing what we're doing.

We're gonna check our
snares and our hooks.

And we're gonna continue being legends,
because, well, it's the only thing we know

- how to be...
- [Laughs]

Yeah.

We ate some
armadillo and possums,

but we need to get some
more to get ready for extraction.

So, take advantage of
every opportunity I can.

And I will be up in a tree for
probably about eight hours.

Just redid all my rigs,
I got four nice lines.

And a nice fishing pole.

So, I see the first location
that I'm going to put a snare.

I can see a trail that clearly
goes into the woods right here.

I always try to
do active hunting,

because that's the most successful,
but I don't have a bow out here.

But, I do have the
materials to snare.

So, I'm hopeful.

I'm going to set one snare
high above the ground

with paracord that's going
to be a deer and hogs' snare.

Put some of that
bait down in there.

So in order for him
to get to that bait,

he has to go through this snare.

Paracord's so strong, they
aren't going to be able to snap it.

It's gonna snare
them and kill them.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I made this swamp spear.

I'll have it with me in
the case we hit a hog

or something and you got to go
in there and stick it or something.

Three out of the four of my
snares went off last night.

It took my bait on two of them.

I don't know if it's something real tiny like
a rat, or just a smart ass possum or what.

You know, I'm doing
everything I can to contribute

and when you don't, it kind of makes
you feel like you're disappointing

those people.

But, I got to keep on trucking

because, you know, once you start
getting that down and out attitude

in survival, it can kill you.

I'm getting closer, I mean,
at least they popped off today.

Survival's not easy, else everybody
would come out here and do this.

While Rylie and I are
checking these gator lines out.

[Rylie] It's crazy. It
is actually warmer.

Yeah, right?

I haven't had a good
win in this new location

and I really want to
get out and get some.

That's what it's all about.

- Yeah, nothing really.

[Rylie] I am tiny
and tired and hungry.

Today is a bit of
a groundhog day.

I feel like this area might be a little
more limited than we initially thought.

So, we are trying
to find workarounds.

I know everyone has their own
little survival projects going on

and it's cool to see
everyone motivated.

I just hope that this
environment starts cooperating

and hopefully we get some
love tomorrow because

I think everybody's
ready for a win.

There's definitely
pigs in the area.

This is fresh wild pigs' scat.

And I've got my
snares farther down,

I can only hope that...

One of them ran
through one of my snares.

But this is a great sign.

The animals are here.

The past three days,
I've been taken to school.

I haven't been able to
put meat on the table

and that's where...

And I am determined
to do everything right.

seven snares all laid in here,

so I'm gonna go check them
and see if we've got anything.

I had a pig in here.

This is definitely a pig
caught up in my snare.

He was really, really tangled.

I can tell he's spun these vines
all the way around the snare.

He was stuck for a while.

He was pissed off, look at
this, you can see that its tusk

ripped all the
bark off this tree.

He then snapped this tree
off in two different places.

I had him.

[Sighs]

That would have
been a huge meal.

I could have easily walked
up on the snare and found

a dead hog and brought back
a couple 100 pounds of meat

to me and my family.

And that's what I wanted
to do and I'm pleased that

I did everything right.

But I'm frustrated
that he got away.

Son of a bitch.

Son of a bitch!

I had a hog in my
snare last night.

Yep. For probably hours.

It trashed the forest and
finally bit through my snare.

and he's really
hoping for a win here.

Then it just hasn't happened,

needs to do in order to continue on.

Baby gators.

I've heard them before
from my experience

on my first challenge
in the everglades.

Oh, my God. I see two of 'em.

Right here in front of me.

[Narrator] After a 60
day incubation period,

most alligator eggs
hatch in late summer,

but they remain vulnerable and dependent
on their mothers for several months.

[Ryan] This is crazy.

You know, there could be a
mother monster alligator nearby.

They're very territorial.

They're extremely
protective of their young.

So I'm gonna go
bait a gator line.

That looks great.

[Baby gator chirps]

Its mama's nearby.

If that mom is hungry,
that's going to be the feast,

that the seven legends need before
this challenge comes to an end.

And I have the perfect
spot to hang this bait from,

I mean, I'm climbing 50 feet up
in a tree that overhangs the water.

And this thing will be
dangling clear as day,

can't miss it.

You can't not smell it.

That's a hell of a
meal right there.

Man, it's gonna be great.

[Exhales]

Checking some of my lines.

You know, I know
we're here for a big kill

and we're in a new zone.

But our staples
are catfish out here.

And we got to keep
eating like yeah,

we're waiting for that big kill.

I'm hoping we can get
it, but we still need to eat.

So, we're all putting
lines in across this channel

and hopefully you can start
pulling in some channel catfish here.

There's very little action
and my lines are still baited.

Hopefully, get something.

Our bodies are weakened,
our bodies have been, you know,

pushed to the limit for
a missed two months.

Hoping for a big, old hog.

So, I'm down here checking
the hook for the mama gator,

with extraction
around the corner.

Those catfish are
just not going to cut it.

I think I'm just gonna
continue to come out,

make sure they've seen my
bait and give them a chance

to really bite onto it.

I got a three foot alligator
right below me in this tree.

I'm about 20 feet up,
if it swims under me.

I'm gonna jump off the
tree on to the alligator.

It's probably one of the most
dangerous things I've ever done.

The water, it is freezing cold
and I risk getting hypothermia,

but we need it.

We need that protein
just to keep us going.

My adrenaline is
running right now.

This is the most epic
[bleep] I've ever done.

If it swims under me, I'm
gonna jump off the tree

on to the alligator.

She's over there, but
she's not going for our bait.

I dunked and splashed
the fish out, like, 20 times.

These cold
temperatures, you know,

those gators are a past
history of this challenge, I think,

unless we find one
sunbathing or actively hunting...

They can go three
months without eating.

And they're cold-blooded, so they
are done feeding on our gator hooks.

Hopefully we get

It would be great if somebody
came in to camp with a massive meal.

for us to really see that finish line.

Right now it's just moments
before the hunters hour.

deer, to keep us strong the end.

to head out further

and deeper in the woods
and find just that right spot

to ambush my prey.

amounts of pressure

to take care of these folks
because they're my team,

my family, my clan.

focus on hunting, fishing,

and we're in the swamp.

We wanna be on higher ground,

but we're surrounded by
water there's water everywhere.

And the only way to get out
of here is through the water.

So we're gonna have
to build a raft again.

That's just what we're
gonna have to do.

Yeah, the canoe's badass,
we should put that to use.

we've been here for almost two months.

knowing that I put everything
that I could into the extraction.

So, I'm thinking... Two
really long pontoons,

And easy lattice

to not make it across the end.

And we need to stay afloat.

My biggest, sort of, fear
of just leaving this place

is how long that
I've spent in here,

how long I've immersed
myself in this challenge...

But I can't wait to get home.

So, right now I'm
currently working on

adding another outrigger
on to the canoe...

Which should add a
little bit more buoyancy,

'cause we're gonna be adding
another individual to our craft.

I think we'll lay the rest
of these on there, so.

We made this raft to
be as tough as possible

and float as high as we could

because we need
to get in the water,

but we don't wanna
be "in" the water.

We've got to be on it.

And as the boat captain myself,

I tell you right now,

in these temperatures right now,

you've got less than 45
seconds in these waters

before you're gonna actually start
kicking into hypothermia, cramping.

And it's gonna cause
a serious medical issue.

And once we get this,
put palm fronds on top...

Should be good to go.

[Rylie] We built a structure
to accommodate four people.

That would have taken a
normal 21-day survival team

at least a week to do.

We got that done
in a couple hours.

That speaks to the
efficiency, the expertise,

the experience of this group.

And I'm just so
proud to be a part of it.

I started as a fan.
Fourteen days.

I came out here to inspire
other people of color,

that we deserve to be here. We
deserve to be in these outdoor spaces.

And being here at the
finish line says it all.

This is the fricking grand
slam of Naked and Afraid.

From a fan to a 60 day legend.

It's really hard to believe I
spent 60 days right out here.

It had its ups and downs.

It was the toughest mental
challenge I've ever been a part of,

by far.

But, 60 days later,

I am stronger
mentally, physically,

and here in spirit.

And I couldn't have done
it without my brother here.

And this lady right here,

who is the only female to have
crossed this finish line with us.

is absolutely...

The hardest survival
challenge I've ever done.

I never, ever thought that
I would be the only woman

to finish this challenge,

because there were
amazing women here.

I wanted to quit.

Many, many times
I wanted to quit.

But, I couldn't, because...

I want any woman,
girl watching this

to see that there's a place for
them at the end of every finish line.

If only they continue to
push and try and work hard.

And if you don't see a place
for yourself at the finish line,

create one.

Fight your way there,
and make on for yourself.
