Come in

Take the handcuffs off, please

Thank you

I see you still don't have a lawyer

I haven't chosen one yet

Have a seat

Zacharie Gaba...

do you know him?

Who is he?

He's an armed robber who knew Sandrine at boarding school

They stayed in touch

Sandrine even helped him with a few robberies

Did he kill Sandrine and Lucie?

We can't yet be sure of that

He's currently on the run. We're looking for him

Is that all you had to say?

No. There's something else

I organised a test...

of Sandrine's, Lucie's and your DNA

The results may surprise you

it appears Lucie is not your daughter

Whose daughter is she?

Zacharie Gaba's

- Did you never suspect? - No

But why would he kill them?

There's a lot we still don't know

Did you want to say something?

When Lucie was little...

a parcel arrived on her birthday

When Sandrine saw where it came from...

she threw it in the bin

- Where was it from? - A prison

Which one?

I don't remember

What year was this?

Lucie was three or four...

so it must have been 2010 or 2011

Jean-Luc, check if Zacharie Gaba was incarcerated...

from 2010 to 2011

Can I go back to my cell?

I need you to sign your statement

Please, sit down

SERIES CREATED BY ALEX ANDRA CLERT

What's going on?

- What do they want? - It's Alfonso

One of his scooters knocked down a kid...

who died on the spot

One of our trackers was on the scooter

They traced it back

The mechanic said he worked for Gilou

- Will he get off lightly? - I wouldn't get your hopes up

Escoffier is their fall guy

He didn't get those trackers by himself

We were all in on it, even you

Don't give me that shitty look. I know what I have to do

- Servier - I'll call you back

Will the union help him?

- I've sent a list of lawyers - What about the national office?

I called . They said they would see how it goes

- This is Escoffier, after all - Meaning?

The union isn't going to just wade in and help

Gilou is all too happy to come to us when he's in trouble...

but he hasn't paid his dues in two years

All things considered, I can see why

Close the door

They're going to give him the elbow...

no doubt about it

We're all he's got

Roban, enlighten me...

do you take me for a fool or have you lost your mind?

Sorry?

I personally ask the Vice-President...

to let you assist Judge Mendy with her case...

and what do you do?

You go and search Tarek Ziani's home without warning me

Prosecutor, Mr Ziani is...

I've had a terrible morning, thanks to you

The Foreign Office is furious about the Ziani case

Just wait for the shit to hit the fan

I'm used to such things

I know you're thick-skinned, but this isn't about you

it's Mendy's head on the block

if you don't calm her down, she's the one who'll suffer

Does Jaulin realise that Sandrine was involved in the cash machine raids?

Not exactly

Zach must be linked to Sandrine and Lucie's deaths

Maybe, but if Zach is the father, that opens up other possibilities...

like revenge, for instance

We can't rule out Zach just because he's the father

But the prints on the slipper and the car weren't his

That means there was an accomplice to the crime...

who we haven't yet identified

Laure, do you have any news on Zach?

Have you located him?

Not yet

But we're working on it

- What's her name? - Carole Mendy

Carole Mendy. So, in light of the conclusions...

Yes?

Josphine. Take a seat

So, now that Ziani can't leave the country...

nothing can be signed abroad

Jacques, check this won't ruin the new Luxembourg investment

Catherine, likewise for his property deals

The other problem is Ziani's diary

it was seized during the search

There's an envelope in that diary

it came from us. Ziani needs it back immediately

What's in it?

Financial documents that have nothing to do with the case

Correspondence between a lawyer and a client is unseizable

You can ask for the envelope to be taken away and sealed

Yes, and that would only draw attention to the envelope

if Ziani didn't object during the search...

then normally, they won't give it back

- Did you say "normally"? - Yes

Ronan, we don't use that word when it comes to Ziani

Josphine Karlsson, any idea as to how we can get this envelope?

Sorry. I didn't introduce our new colleague, Josphine Karlsson

She's here to help our client out of his predicament

So, can anyone get me that envelope?

Sorry, but...

why not just ask the judges for the diary?

Why would they give it to you?

I don't know. Maybe if we asked nicely...

Unless that's another word we can't use

Very well

Be my guest

OK. Thank you all

I'll see you at 6:00pm, when we'll decide what to tell the press

Why introduce me? I haven't agreed to work for you, yet

Why else would you be here?

And talented people are best when caught off-guard

Did you see how quick off the mark you were?

No lengthy procedures or appeals to the court

That's why I asked you to join us

You think differently

Let me know about the diary

Mathilde, show Josphine her office...

and take care of her, please

Tricking some lowlife into doing a robbery is dodgy enough...

but now Gilou's in the shit, too, I'm really worried

Gilou needs our help

Once we nab Zach they'll leave him alone

The disciplinary committee will stitch him up, Zach or no Zach

No, if we nail a big case they'll back off

Do you have a better idea?

Why didn't Gilou turn up?

I was stuck there with Bensimon

Look, call Bensimon and say the buyer wants to meet him tonight

- it's his last chance - Will Gilou turn up?

- No, Tintin will - Why not Gilou?

Because he's doing something else. OK?

This whole thing stinks

Look, just call Bensimon. Tell him to be there tonight

And stop moaning. All right?

Prick

I don't like the way he talks to me

We're all on edge

isn't that what you meant? Tintin?

I flew off the handle

Call us when you have news

Yeah. I will

- I don't like him - I think the feeling's mutual

How long have you known Serge Alfonso?

Five, six years

He sold me a car, we got on, and we stayed in touch

- Is he an informant? - No, an acquaintance

Who you use as an informant?

Yeah, sometimes. Lots of kids get their bikes fixed at his garage

Talking of bikes...

this one knocked down a child in Pantin

it didn't have any original parts

it was rigged to do 120km/h...

so the kid was thrown 60 metres and died instantly

That's terrible

But I don't see how I'm involved

We found a tracker on it

Look familiar?

It's not one of ours, I can tell you that

- Then where's it from? - No idea

Ours are crap, but not that crap

Let me quote Alfonso

"lnspector Escoffier came to my garage...

'...with trackers like the one you showed me

"He asked me to fit them on scooters to catch a gang...

'...operating in the 19th arrondissement"

Your unit solved a similar case, recently

You even made the papers

OK. Even if Alfonso is telling the truth, so what?

We're allowed to use trackers - every unit does

Besides, I didn't knock that kid over, did I?

Using non-regulation trackers is prohibited...

and so is forcing someone to sell stolen, tracked scooters

Alfonso said I forced him to sell stolen scooters?

He's perfectly capable of cooking up his own stupid plans

True

His garage is full of stolen scooters, and he admits it

Well, then

But he says more

"I had decided to stop this illegal activity...

'...but Escoffier made me continue, and threatened to arrest me...

'...if I didn't fit trackers on the scooters...

'...because he needed quick results in a jewellery theft case"

Handling stolen goods and invasion of privacy...

Not true

You've swallowed Alfonso's story. Now it's time you listened to me

We'll take a break, first

- Would you like some water? - I'm fine, thanks

You said you had nearly found Gaba last tine

Bringing in the Crime Unit won't speed things up

Let my team do their job

I can't keep waiting and you know it. I'm getting heat from on high

- I need progress - You'll get it

You have until Monday. Not a day more

The disciplinary committee is questioning one of my men

lnspector Escoffier

Yes, so I heard

Could you get them to ease off a little?

I doubt the committee will have much sympathy for your inspector

Escoffier was doing his job

Just as the Commissioner asked

it was a tall order, and he achieved it

You can't do that without bending a few rules

I'm not sure the Commissioner would agree

Your man crossed the line. Now, no one will want to get involved

- lncidentally, did you know? - Did I know what?

That he was messing around with trackers and a shady mechanic

No more than you did

Focus on the investigation, Herville

Think of your future

You've a chance to come back into the fold

Don't waste it

Ms Karlsson

- Hello, Your Honour - How can I help?

By returning certain items taken during the search on Ziani's home

You should ask my colleague. She's in charge of the case

I won't lie. This is quite urgent and I'm worried she'll drag her heels

But I know you don't work that way

These documents have no bearing on the case...

and my client needs them

You seem to have perked up a little

I took your advice

I'll check with my colleague and let you know

- Thank you. Goodbye, Your Honour - Goodbye

So, Sandrine met Zach at boarding school...

and also met Jaulin, who worked at a nearby caf

Then, she shagged them both

She got pregnant and married Jaulin

Did she think he was the father, or did she know he wasn't...

but didn't want to live with Zach?

We don't know

He didn't even come in to see us

- I bet he did nothing about it - He only thinks of himself

He should get it, not Gilou. Let's dob him in

What's wrong with you? You can't drag your own boss into it

- You'd rather ditch Gilou? - No one is ditching Gilou

But what do we tell them? I was there when we hid the trackers

You're just watching your own back

- What's it to you? - They'll charge him

Relax. We don't know what they have on him

if we say Herville got the trackers, it implicates us all

So, if they question you, say you had no idea. Got it?

Yeah, Djibril?

- We can't just hang him out to dry - It's not like that

OK. Thanks

I understand . But what can you do?

You're meeting Bensimon tonight

- Calm down - Great

I'll take the blame for the trackers

I put them on Alfonso's scooters to catch those little scum bags...

who were stealing necklaces

Yeah. That's all true

But I never forced him into anything

Did you know where the scooters came from?

All I knew was, the kids took their scooters to Alfonso for repairs

That's all that mattered to me

So you admit...

that Alfonso's stolen scooters were the reason you approached him

Look, our sources aren't exactly saints, you know

if they were, they would be useless

The tracker on the crashed scooter was unregistered

Why not use an approved tracker?

Because there aren't enough of them

Management guard them like gold dust

But unregistered trackers are so convenient, aren't they?

No need to follow procedure...

untraceable...

You know you're supposed to use regulation trackers?

And the new law states you must first ask a judge

Look, you're just doing your job...

but with all due respect, you're living in a dream world

if we did every case by the book, we'd close about five a year

Now, we're getting somewhere

You admit you used an unscrupulous mechanic..

To sidestep procedure

No. I admit what I said, nothing more. I didn't coerce him

And I don't deal in stolen scooters - not yet, anyway

We did what we had to, to close the case

- Did your colleagues know? - No

I was Alfonso's contact

Fine

- You still don't want a lawyer? - Why would I?

They're only there for show, and I should know

Even for the confrontation with Alfonso?

You're not going to make me confront that bastard?

We'll extend custody and do it tomorrow

When? I have to take a friend to the doctor

You're in custody, Escoffier

And I'm afraid that's not just for show

Go on, Tintin

So, you're mates with Djibril?

Why do you care?

Just getting to know you

Forget Djibril . Are you selling the cartridges or not?

I'm just curious how you know him

Who cares? You're selling, I'm buying

- How much will you buy them for? - Depends. How many are there?

30,000

Not bad

The Chinese pay ten

I'll buy them for eight

No, nine

Eight, cash in hand

OK. I'll round it up to 250,000

250 grand, cash

Then you collect

OK. No problem. Just tell me where

- I'll call you when we have it - When will that be?

Maybe next week

The delivery lorry visits the warehouse twice a week

OK

If you want to get hold of me, tell Djibril

Don't shop me to the police

You're the go-between

- All good? - Looks like it

That was hard work

I was sweating like a pig

Thanks

I asked for a bottle. How am I meant to piss in a can?

I forgot

So, what's the buyer offering?

- 250 grand - 250? Are you mental?

Marouane told us half a million

No. Half a million is the market value

We pocket 250 grand. That's not bad, is it?

It will get you out of this dive

No, it's not OK

- Can we trust Djibril? - He gave us the details, didn't he?

We just need to pick the right lorry at the right time

Mate, the coppers are after you and the Frenchman wants his money

You want to stay holed up in here forever, is that it?

OK. Let's do it

Tell Oz I want to see Laetitia

- Are those the arms? - That's right

All present and correct

That's the heart

- Do you want to hear it? - Yeah. I do

Now, I'm going to be honest with you

You have a placental abruption

if you don't slow down and rest, you'll lose the baby

it'll hang in there

I picked up everything on Ziani's desk...

and it's true, his gym membership isn't really relevant

But Karlsson must want these papers for a reason

I can't see one

We'll photocopy them, just in case

That envelope wasn't on Karlsson's list

You're right

She's asking for the documents...

to distract us from this envelope

I know what you're thinking, and we can't

it's confidential, so we can't use it in the trial

- There's no use opening it - It's already open

You know that makes no difference. I don't want to compromise my case

Look, Carole. I'm putting it back exactly where I found it

And I'm going to call Ms Karlsson...

to come and collect her items

- And do you want a fringe, too? - Yes, please

- Yeah? - It's Oz

Where's Laetitia?

Kim can do it. She's French

- Do you know what I need? - The day and time the lorry leaves

- What about your clothes? - Leave it to Ne

But it'll cost five grand

To find a lorry? Don't be daft

Five grand, or you'll be stuck in here

- Are you serious? - I want five grand

OK. Fine. Do it

Now get lost. We'll talk later

Bensimon called. They sent someone to check out the lorry

They'll rob it as soon as it leaves

Will Zach be there?

They said a pro was helping them. Jewish bloke, it has to be Zach

And they want two cars for the robbery

That's your problem, not ours

Can't you sort me out with a few addresses?

Or papers?

The database tracks us when we search it

Go out of town like everyone else, and bring us back two cars

- They don't want a couple of Twingos - What, then?

- They want two Cayenne Turbos - You do it. You're the pro

it'll take days to find them

- Don't you keep suspects' cars? - Yeah

Tell us the date. We'll think about the Cayennes

OK

Come on . Hurry up, will you?

Are you Pascal?

Yeah

I heard you were looking for a secretary

Ask Head Office. We don't deal with that here

Shit. That means I came here for nothing

Where's Head Office?

I don't know. Some office block

it's a mess. How are you going to fit the rest in?

We'll put it over there

Thanks. Maybe see you soon

Bye

Shit. My phone's dead

Can I plug it in somewhere?

Go on . There must be a socket in there

Yeah

Go ahead

I can't find a socket

It's OK. No one will come in

Come here

Come on

You smell good

Stop it. I know you want to

Come on. Relax

No

Fuck

Shut up. Now stay there, got it?

I told you not to move

Open your legs

PRINTER INK

MARCH 29TH

4:00AM

5:15AM

6:00AM

Yes?

All right, Servier?

There are still mice in the toilets

I doubt it. Pest control only came last week

I saw one. And they've shat in the urinals

- Listen, I don't have time for this - Will you just come and look?

This is such bollocks No. There are mice in there

Maybe pest control did a bad job

- When did you call them? - Last week

Really? This pisses me off

PASSWORD NEEDED

Shit

PORSCHE CAYENNE TURBO PARIS REGION

Look, behind the bogs...

Can't you see it?

Behind the toilet. Loads of mouse droppings

Shall I get a torch?

Do you want a torch?

Give me the paper

OK. Tomorrow, 4:00am. Where does the lorry go from?

The warehouse? The car park? Is it protected?

It goes from the car park

There's just a guy who checks if the lorry is on his list

Are you ill or something?

What are you, a doctor? You got what you wanted

Here

What's this?

You'll get the rest when we sell the stuff. Now go

Go on. Piss off

That little dyke is getting on my nerves

She can stick her money up her arse

What the fuck did you eat?

For fuck's sake

May I?

Do you want the good news?

The irons have been examined...

and the shape matches the injuries on the plaintiff's head

Excellent

One iron even has blood and Ziani's DNA on it

So, what next?

We summon Ziani for a confrontation

Your ears will be burning

- Do you have a cure for that? - You get used to it

I'll be back in a minute

My husband is on duty tonight. We need a nanny

- What would he do without you? - Nothing

Nothing missing?

No. I don't think so. Thank you

I meant to tell you, you'll receive a summons

What for?

A confrontation between your client and his staff

- Has something happened? - Not really

Judge Mendy thinks that bringing them together will move the case forward

Very well

- Goodbye, Your Honour - Goodbye, Ms Karlsson

Excuse me, is Judge Mendy here?

No

I need to check one of my clients' files - Tarek Ziani

Just a second

- Here - Thank you

That's bollocks

I never coerced or threatened Alfonso

Why would I lie?

He thinks he'll get off lightly if he takes me with him

Did you see his garage?

It's sketchy as hell

Typical copper. The minute they smell trouble they drop you in it

That's not true

I admit using those trackers...

but I was just doing my job

I did it to catch the gang, that's all

That's why I joined CID...

to avoid these shit cases where the criminal never goes to prison

You want to lock me up for something I've not done

I'm an officer of the law, but you would rather take his word for it?

I'd like you to listen to something

Look, I'll ignore the stolen scooters if you don't ask about the trackers

OK. But I don't want trouble

Stop whining and do as I say

If someone comes snooping around, I'll take care of it

OK

You realise you just saved diplomatic relations between France and Libya?

Saving you would be a start

We have a problem, Tarek. One of your staff retracted their statement

Great. Why is that a problem?

The judge will think you pressured the plaintiff to do so

He'll have to prove it

That's exactly what he'll try to do

He wants a confrontation between you and the maid, who is now partly deaf

it's her word against mine

Except the test results from the iron are in, and they're not good

Mr Ziani, do you ever iron your clothes yourself?

What do you think?

Do you ever handle any of the irons that were seized at your house?

I pay people for that

So why was your DNA found on one?

This could change the judges' minds about your custody status

if you won't tell the truth, I'll suggest something

Go ahead

You were about to go out to a party...

but while eating, you dropped food on your tie

You cleaned it with soap and water...

then ironed it, to help dry it out

Why not use another tie?

Because your wife liked this one, and you wanted to make her happy

And you guarantee that'll get me off?

No. All I can guarantee is to do my best

Tell the judges that if they want me, they can come and find me

What are you doing, Tarek?

Violating your judicial supervision will harm your defence

You'll think of something. I trust you

I loved the tie story

So, the lorry leaves Bobigny at 4:00am...

heading for Le Bourget

They'll target it somewhere on the way...

so we'll trail the lorry as soon as it leaves

We'll let then rob it...

then, when they stop for the handover, we'll nab them

- Which is when? - We don't know

You don't know when the robbery is, or the handover?

Are you sure there's a lorry?

Sure. And Zach will be there

- Did Djibril tell you that? - Yes, boss

And Tintin won't con me, because Bensimon has seen him

So we have four vehicles, plus back-up

it may be our last chance to catch Zach...

so stay on your toes

We leave at 3:00am . Goodnight

Good luck, everyone

Berthaud

Either we work together on this...

or you tell me nothing, and take the blame if you blow it

When you got Djibril off the hook...

he was delivering a car for an ink cartridge robbery, right?

Is this the same job?

Zach needs money

We let him know about the job to reel him in

This could be our only chance, boss

it might help Gilou if we get Zach now

The committee has held him for nearly 30 hours

Have you followed procedure?

I'm coming

This is Laure. Not long now

Here comes a lorry. Nobody move until we're sure

- Copy - Copy that

OK, it's the right number plate

Which cars are those?

This is Laure

A Mgane and a Ford are following the lorry, not the Cayennes

- What Cayennes? - They were meant to be Cayennes

OK. Let's trail them

- Got it - Copy that

We're here

Are you sure that's Zach, behind the lorry?

This is what they planned

We're following the target

He's turning right, towards the motorway

Cop y that

Fuck. It's the police

Our colleagues are pulling the lorry over. Hang back

They've stopped

There's a second lorry. What's going on?

I can see Bensimon

it's Zach's gang

They're hitching the trailer to another cab

We'll block them in

JP, Tom, go around the other side

Where the fuck are you, Zach? Call me

Go on . Get in there

Hurry up

Nico, move in closer

This is Tom. We're ready

OK

Let's go

Fuck

Police. Don't move. Come here

- Get Bensimon - Against the car, now

Where is he?

Take him away

it's over, sir. Come with me

Have you got Zach?

Let's go

Where's Zach?

- Have you got him? - No

- Laure - Where is he?

- He's not here - Take them away

- Fuck - it's food. They got the wrong lorry

Where the fuck did he go?

JP. Bensimon?

He ran off into the woods

Shit

I'll ask you one more time

Where's my money?

You understand that?

Go on

We need to talk

- Where's Zach? - Why? What happened?

He squealed on us, that's what. He told the cops

Did you call him?

He won't pick up. Lend Ne your phone

Motherfucker

Call him from this one

He's not fucking answering

- What do you want to do? - No idea

- Got any cash? - Yeah. Sure

- ls 300 OK? - Yeah. Nice one

- You never saw me - No worries

Call me. OK?

You've never met a man called Zach? How about Bensimon? No?

Never heard of them

OK. Here's your statement. Read it and sign

Well?

Nothing, just like the last two. They don't know a thing

Who do you think warned Zach?

- Djibril? - Why would he?

Yeah

What?

Wait a second

It's Djibril. I'm putting you on speaker

Go on

Bensimon came to the Pacha

He thinks Zach squealed. He's the only one who wasn't there

He's not picking up the phone

- Wait. You have Zach's number? - Yeah. That's why I called

Go ahead

Pen...

Wait

- OK - 0643...

Yes

OK. Thanks

We'll track its location

Fuck

it's coming from the middle of a field

What the hell is this?

This is Tintin . It's on the right

The signal is coming from somewhere on the right-hand side

Yeah. Over by that manure pile. There's a little track
