Lindsey: So, it's day 27,
and we still have a quarter

of this challenge yet to go.

I got everything but
the kitchen sink in here.

Think we're good.

We have three different
hunting parties going out.

Today is the day
someone's gonna get a kill.

We are eating meat
tonight. That is my prediction.

We are gonna get something.

-Maybe we'll get an impala.
-That would be a lot

of meat to go around.
-That would be awesome.

I am going to walk down
to that fishing hole right now

and see if my frog
caught anything last night.

Shane: I feel like the camp is
being divided into the hunters

and the homemakers.

And I think the homemakers
probably do not get

as much credit
as the hunters do.

I don't think there's
anything on this line.

It's too loose.

Sarah and Gary and I spend,
you know, six hours a day

boiling water,
collecting firewood,

and doing all the hard work
while they're out hunting.

Catch fish or adjusting to
the way that I bait the frogs,

and now I've got to
adjust the way I bait them,

and maybe I'm gonna try
this meat from Gary's nyala.

It's not as glamorous as
killing an nyala or wildebeest.

But the people who
do the foundation work

are the backbone of any
aspect of any dynamic

of any part of society.

Trent: I found a
great waterhole.

There's about every
track of every animal.

We have wildebeest,
kudu, impala.

Putting together
a blind right here.

I've got trails on
the right of me

and on the left that
both feed into the water.

To make it to day 40,

we don't need to bring
home little bits of food.

We need to bring
home big parts of food.

So I feel even more
pressure to get a kill.

Um, so if I can just
hunker down in here today,

something comes down
to the water, I can easily --

I've got a good
shot either direction.

Gary: I'm going to the baobab
tree to harvest some food.

I know I'm going and coming
back with guaranteed resources.

Here she is.

Nice, big, beautiful tree.

Narrator: Unique to Africa,
the leaves of the baobab tree

are rich in potassium
and vitamin c,

but only contain a
few calories per ounce.

Gary: That branch
has a bunch all over it.

So I could probably
climb up, go out there,

and get all kinds of leaves.

Every day, we're getting closer.

temperatures in the lower digits,

so we have made two fires.

And we will be chilling

because our sweet
cave is sitting-room only.

Last night was freezing
cold, and it's still really windy.

It's still really cold.

Last night felt like
about 40 degrees.

Yeah, it definitely did.

It's supposed to get
hotter in the rainy season.

Your eye is so swollen.

I can't -- I can barely open it.

Is your other

I can barely open

My eyes are so swollen

I had a hard time
sleeping at night,

so I've been
feeling pretty weak.

I think the best, most
important thing would be

to try to eat some food.

Just got my fingers
crossed, like I always have,

that the hunters are gonna
return with some meat.

That would be really nice.

Matt: I feel like
today is a good day.

Just honing up my broad heads,

and in preparation that
I'm gonna need them.

'Cause today, my goal is to
sit over this small water source

until an animal comes in.

And at some point, one
of us here is gonna harvest

some kind of big-game animal.

And we're gonna get some meat.

We'll be out for as little
or as long as it takes.

Lindsey: Let's just focus
on the positives of having

a big bonfire
barbecue tonight, guys.

As soon as I get through
that section right there,

I'm gonna go hunt for frogs.

I know it's not glamorous but,
you know, it's got to get done.

We'll freeze to
death without it, so.

but you know what?

I'm a lunch-bucket guy anyway.

Gary: I admire Shane.
I respect Shane.

I think he's got
his, uh, survival, uh,

priorities totally straight.

I want to get every pot
boiled with water in it.

That's important
to me right now.

I'm -- I feel like I'm kind of
part of the backbone here

with Shane and Sarah.

The true support, the true
backbone of this whole group

that actually allows
the hunters to hunt

and keeps the people
warm with firewood,

and functioning
on a baseline level.

Matt: Now with a group
aspect, the difficult part of it

is we have what's
called a human footprint.

Anywhere you go,
you have this footprint.

When you get big groups,
you're gonna have talking

and screaming and
kind of unneeded noise.

And because of that,
this footprint is massive.

And I have now realized that
I have to walk much further,

I have to work much harder
just to get to the animals,

because these animals have
now scattered from our perimeter.

And the frustration's
kicking in hard now.

putting together this blind.

I'm just gonna hunker
down in here for the day

and wait patiently for
the game to come out.

I'm feeling a little
bit low-energy,

and I really haven't
eaten much at all

for this entire
challenge so far.

The hunters are out there
every day chasing the meat glory,

and I'm stuck taking
care of all the business.

I've got to boil all the water.

Every day, Ben is fighting
the harsh current of the pacific.

And yesterday, he came
aboard with some bad news.

Yesterday, had a good swim.

It was an eight-hour swim,

and I thought I was
progressing pretty well,

to find out that in
those eight hours

I just covered, like,
close to five miles.

That was very disappointing.

So that's what I'm
facing right now,

try to take a step
back and realize

that I cannot get disappointed

just because of a bad day,
something that happened.

I just have to take
it one day at a time,

and, uh, focus
on the big picture.

this morning to find his luck

might have turned around.

Today apparently has changed.

Had a good sign yesterday.

I saw a few dolphins, so I
think it was them telling me,

"don't worry, Ben. Good
weather is coming your way."

And apparently, they were
right because right now,

it's full sun and
a very nice wave.

of leafy green
vegetation or tubers,

or any other kind of
vegetation that we can eat.

It looks like wild spinach.

Oh, my god. There's a ton of it.

and it made a hat for me.

It protects me from

me a pair of shoes,

and is now gonna feed the
tribe that thought it was so gross

that I brought it around.

Gary got the bait
that caught the turtle.

Shane got the bait
that caught the catfish.

And I harvested spinach
that we'll stew it all up together.

It'll be you, me, and Shane
that fed everyone today.

Kaila: Lindsey and I have
been out here busting our butt

every single day.

Lindsey: We've had no action.

It's really draining for us,

but hunting is just a
waiting game out here.

And it's not easy.

And we still have a

how much fun it would be

long and go sit in a blind

and go hunt and come

it will feel very much
like we carried them

through the challenge,

and they did pretty

kill, that'll legitimize it.

while mommy and daddy
took care of you back at home?"

Dip some in that
broth. It's awesome.

It's protein, vitamins,
minerals from the spinach.

The broth is just super
loaded up and enriched.

I understand that it's
super fun to go out hunting,

have the opportunity

do you feel like

or are you motivated still to do

to be done around camp?

Because I feel like
we're out hunting,

trying to provide for the team,

something back
every single time.

But at least we're
out there trying.

homesteaders are providing.

I think the homesteaders

of the everything
that's been consumed.

We may have a camp division.

Definitely, it gets
tense at times

and it gets very uncomfortable.

my energy into maintaining camp

when I know that the hunters
