[Sunshine by My Side]

[Episode 17]

My friend is still inside.

What are you doing?

Stop filming.

Come on.

Move back.

Stop filming.

Answer it.

It's Song Chen.

I don't know what's up with him.

Let me call him back.

Hello, what's wrong?

Where are you?

Calm down. Take your time.

What's wrong?

The exhibition stage collapsed.

What did you say?

The exhibition stage collapsed.

Many people are injured now.

The spokesperson is injured

and the audience are injured too.

Please come over here, okay?

I don't know what to do.

Alright, I got it. Don't worry.

I'll be right back.

Bye.

What did he say?

He'll come back now.

Be careful over there.

Be careful.

Are you okay?

I'm fine.

Is there a work emergency?

Something happened with the stage.

I...

I might have to go back.

I'm sorry.

I might not be able to drive you home.

Work is important. Go ahead.

No.

You still feel dizzy.

How can you drive?

I can get myself back one way or another.

I'll call a designated driver.

Okay.

I'll go now.

Be careful.

Bye.

Hello, Mr. Chen.

Yes.

I don't know the details either.

We're checking with the construction team.

Don't worry about the hospital.

Our Client Relations team has gone over there.

Yes, they went there immediately.

I will find out what happened.

Don't worry.

Hello, Mr. Chen?

Hello?

What's going on?

What happened?

Where did you go?

Team Leader, how did the stage collapse?

How would I know?

Sheng Yang,

you are fully in charge of this project.

What am I supposed to tell the boss

about this kind of major mistake?

No.

This...

What do you mean by "no?"

Let me tell you.

We've never had such a major incident

since the company was established.

I just checked with the construction team.

They said that they underwent construction

according to your design.

They didn't cut back on materials.

Now, the brand is seriously suspecting

that there's a problem with your design.

We have a serious problem

that caused this serious accident, understand?

I got another call.

Tell me how to explain.

Hello, Mr. Li.

I'm Wang.

Mr. Li, go ahead.

Have some water.

Here.

What will we do when we get to the company tomorrow?

Two people with minor injuries were taken to the hospital.

The rest are fine.

Now, the critical thing is the spokesperson's leg injury.

Her schedule for the next three days all have to be delayed.

Her agency is also very angry.

Many fans

are criticizing the event organizer online,

which is giving the brand a headache.

So,

they demand an explanation from us.

Did you find out the reason?

The construction team said

that they strictly followed

the construction plan and materials

in the plan we provided.

I asked the Evaluation Team to reassess the plan.

Our design does have problems with the weight balance.

There are problems with the center of gravity.

It's all my fault.

Sheng Yang

has never been in charge of offline activities,

so he may lack the experience.

Team Leader,

you personally approved

the design proposal before.

Yes, I didn't think there were problem with the proposal at the time,

but who knew so many fans would come?

Going onstage for a group photo would go over the weight capacity.

Haven't you thought about this?

Group photo with fans?

Did the client say

that there would be a group photo segment before?

The spokesperson arrived

and fans came to support her.

Isn't that normal?

Plus, it collapsed after only a dozen people went up there.

That can only mean

that the design is unreasonable.

Boss,

our design

strictly followed the Planners' proposal.

Before this, no one said

there would be so many people.

There must be something wrong with the construction plan.

Did anyone supervise the construction?

I did.

You didn't find anything wrong?

Then we only have ourselves to blame.

We didn't think it through.

The most difficult thing now is the client.

They keep asking me for an explanation.

What should I do?

Leave us.

Wang, stay here.

I heard that the brand has ordered

to fire the person in charge

to calm the fans down.

Our company has made a name for ourselves

in the industry this time.

It's not your fault.

There must be a reason.

It must be the construction.

Sheng Yang.

Sheng Yang.

The boss wants to see you.

Come, Sheng Yang.

Sit.

Sheng Yang.

The boss

told me about the client's attitude.

Now, they already have

the list of everyone who worked on this project.

Liu,

Zhao,

Song Chen,

you,

and Pan Rou.

This incident

is too serious.

The company

doesn't want anyone to be implicated,

but the client is very stubborn.

If we don't give them an explanation,

they will never forgive us.

Sheng Yang.

All these years,

I've seen

your work abilities in the company

and your character.

But this time,

no one can save you.

The company

will also have to pay

a high compensation fee.

Even if all of you

put in your bonuses and salaries,

it'll still be futile,

so I hope you can understand

the punishment we're giving you.

Sheng Yang,

as the project manager,

you have to take the main responsibility.

Besides deducting this month's salary and bonus,

you will also be fired.

The others will be criticized,

marked down,

and have this month's salary and bonus deducted.

Meanwhile,

as the supervisors of the later construction,

Song Chen and Pan Rou,

will also be fired.

I have no objection

to the company's decision.

I'm responsible

for this accident.

I have to take the main responsibility.

I participated in the entire process,

from the preliminary design

to the later construction.

Everyone

worked together

under my leadership.

So, they can't be blamed

for the incident.

Are you going to take full responsibility?

Liu and Zhao

had a lot of projects

that they were working on,

so they didn't focus much on the stage this time.

Song Chen

had his own project to complete too.

He didn't go to the venue too many times.

As for Pan Rou,

she doesn't know anything.

Basically, she just did

whatever I told her to do.

Boss,

I'm telling you this

just to

inform you about the situation.

I beg the company

not to punish the whole team

just because of me.

Besides, everyone has other projects they're working on.

Firing three people at once

will definitely affect the company's operations.

If the client needs an explanation,

just fire me.

I'm the one responsible.

This is my only request.

I hope you can pull yourself together.

Just take this as a small failure.

Did he really get fired?

I don't know.

Is there really no remedy?

Sheng Yang.

I’m leaving.

Take care.

Buckle down.

Boss.

If you're gone,

it's no fun to stay here

by myself.

You went to plead for me?

Of course.

Are you dumb?

I'm the head of the project.

It's natural for the company to fire me.

You have no idea

how long I begged them

before they agreed

to only fire me.

Look at you.

But they

fired you casually

without even investigating the cause of the accident.

Isn't it meaningless to stay here?

Let's go eat barbecue later.

You're still thinking of eating?

Look at the current employment situation.

At least one of us needs a job.

I really can't

watch you suffer alone.

I'll leave this box of stuff

with you for now.

When I find a new job,

I'll come take it back.

Okay.

By the way,

if Luo Meijuan asks,

you know what to say, right?

Don't worry.

Great.

What's wrong?

Why are you in such a bad condition?

My sister was injured on set.

She told me she was fine.

That means something must be up.

I wonder if I should go back and check on her.

Look at the time.

The subway is closed already

and we have class tomorrow morning.

Forget the class.

I'll take a taxi.

How about you lend me your motorcycle?

The taxi from school to my sister's place

costs more than 200 yuan.

Did you get the license?

I have good skills.

I don't need a license.

I...

The exam costs more than 1,000 yuan.

Are you gonna give me the money?

Fine.

I'll borrow from someone else.

Get changed.

Thank you, Captain Hao.

Captain, you’re so awesome.

You're the best captain in China.

Cut the crap.

Sit tight.

I know.

Yes.

It shouldn't affect things.

Okay, let's end it here.

Who is it?

Is anyone else there?

Yes,

there are a dozen or so people.

Come in and say hello.

Is your head okay?

I'm fine.

Why are you here so late?

Look at your outfit.

We look like a couple.

Who are you not a couple with?

Where is the pipe I put here?

Didn't you take it?

I haven't opened the box yet.

You cleaned up this room.

Not a single trace of me is left here.

Cut to the chase.

Originally,

I thought

I could just call you,

but this is your project.

I must talk to you in person.

I...

I was just with Mr. He.

Here.

What did he say?

I'm afraid

the project needs to be paused.

Is it just paused

or is it discontinued?

There's no way to continue.

They said

we must be replaced.

Otherwise, the spokesperson will stop filming.

They also brought up the contract.

We have no choice.

Well,

what about the funds we spent in the early stages?

They don't care.

They won't give us a single cent more either.

We have to return the deposit

they paid us too.

Return the deposit?

Why?

I know you are angry.

I'm angry too.

You just

got a bit better.

Let's not lose our temper, okay?

With this matter,

I want...

What do you want to do?

You want to fill this hole with your own money?

How did you know?

I...

I know you.

But this matter

doesn't make sense.

Yes.

There was an accident at the scene.

I should be responsible,

but

why should I return the deposit to him?

It's written clearly in the contract.

No matter what happens,

the deposit won't be returned.

Can't we all follow the contract?

Besides, I'm the only one

who got hurt in this accident.

There's an accident

and we take full responsibility.

But if the ad wins an award later,

they'll take all the credit.

Are they dreaming?

If that's the case,

then

I'll just film first.

They can pay us

when they're satisfied.

Why don't we do that?

What's the point of signing a contract?

No.

Why are you so hung up on this?

I'm not.

I'm being reasonable.

You don't have to tell me

to not offend anyone.

"Don't offend this, don't offend that.

Don't get into a big fight

because of a trivial matter,

or else no one will dare to work with us anymore."

Alright?

See, you do know this.

But I can't do it.

Xue, don't you think

they're being bullies?

Is it possible that it's because

we allow such bullying?

This is why they got used to it and became worse.

That's why people think

this is how the industry works.

How long have you been in this industry?

Why are you still acting like a little girl?

We need to be sensible.

Don't take it so seriously.

This isn't a trivial matter.

Aren't you going to

to fill the hole with your own money?

I know

how much money you have.

It's just the half of our savings that I gave you.

First, I don't want the company

to suffer losses because of me.

Second, I don't want

you and Liang Shanshan to take the blame for me.

Right? We're adults.

Let's not give up on money.

The deposit isn't much, but it's still money.

How about this?

I will

quit the company.

What are you talking about?

This happened because of me.

Get rid of me,

get rid of the source of the problem,

and the problem will be solved.

Tell Mr. He

I've reflected on myself.

To apologize,

I will quit the project

and also quit

from the company.

You'll be the new director.

The stage, props, and actors are all ready-made.

They don't need to find more people

or spend more money.

This way, the contract won't have to be voided

and this project won't be terminated either.

I'll just leave.

What are you doing?

Why do I think you're using this as an excuse

to leave the company

and leave me?

It's not serious to the point

that you have to leave the company, right?

Besides,

I'm a man.

If I put all the blame

on my ex-wife,

my reputation in the industry

will be ruined.

You didn't blame me.

I'm voluntarily resigning now.

Come on.

Those who know will understand you're compromising.

Those who don't know

will think you're the culprit, got it?

If you take the blame,

you won't be able to work

in this industry anymore.

What do you think we should do then?

No matter what, we can't do as you said.

You can't leave.

You don't want to leave me, right?

Is your brain alright?

Didn't you do a CT scan

and they said everything is alright?

What will happen if I leave the company?

Nothing much will happen,

right?

Anyway,

an ex-husband and ex-wife running a company together

just sounds

a little inappropriate.

Just

do as I say.

Just see this as me lending money to the company.

When the company gets rich in the future,

give me some more and that's that.

You...

You must be tired. Have a good rest.

I'm leaving.

Have a good rest.

Shuang,

you're here just in time.

Go take care of your sister.

Your sister

is not very calm right now.

Coming.

How come the school let you out in the middle of the night?

What did you do this time?

Where did you get hurt?

You and Xue Yiming went to the hospital one after another.

This divorce is bad luck.

Shut up.

You asked Hao Junjie

to give you a ride again?

Listen,

his uncle will come to me again.

You look fine.

Don't worry about me.

You won't get the inheritance even if I die.

No.

Stop pretending.

Do you need me to take care of you for a few days?

You came over here at this hour to tease me?

Who will take care of whom?

If you don't want to go to class,

I can help you drop out.

Just quit school.

I'm leaving.

Hurry back to school.

How long does it take

to do your hair in the morning?

We're leaving already?

It hasn't even been a minute.

She’s fine.

Lin.

So,

the remaining work

will be done in two days, right?

Check it for me.

Call Lele's mom.

Give her a call

to comfort her.

She's not hurt.

Ask her if the kid got scared.

Don't touch the set.

Keep all the sets.

Let me think about how to fix things.

You two

don't seem to be like

the sisters

in other families.

My sister has actually had a hard time.

She went to work in film crews as soon as she graduated.

She did all kinds of difficult and tiring work

and got bullied every day.

She couldn't even go home during the Spring Festival.

She didn't have a wedding when she got married

and didn't have kids either.

She has no concept of family either.

When I was little, my sister always told me

that no one is reliable in this world.

We can only rely on ourselves.

Don't hurt others and don't hinder yourself.

This is our family motto.

But don't you think

you'll feel lonely like this?

Everyone gets lonely.

Even the best relationships

will fall apart

at some point.

Take you for example.

Aren't you going abroad soon?

Anyway,

I’m glad to be able to meet you.

Captain Hao,

you...

After you leave,

everyone might miss you.

And...

One more thing.

It might be inappropriate

to say it now.

Say it.

You...

After you leave,

can you give me your motorcycle?

Yang is back?

Mom, Dad.

Wash your hands. We're having dinner.

Yang, great timing.

You came just in time for dinner.

You're not working overtime today?

Come on. Hurry up.

Your mom made braised pork trotters with soybeans.

Hurry up.

You look tired.

Don't you get tired from work too?

Come on.

Drink with me.

Yang, you must be tired.

Your activity is finally over today, right?

Yes.

That's good.

Have a good rest today and sleep tight.

Tell me what you want to eat.

I'll cook for you tomorrow.

Mom,

the trotters are delicious.

You say it's delicious, but you haven't taken a bite yet.

Here.

It smells delicious.

Eat more.

There are more in the pot.

I'll get a small spoon.

Thank you, Mom.

Have some beans.

Take this.

Okay.

Eat up.

You too.

Do you want chili sauce?

No.

I want some.

Mom, I'm going to work.

Mom, Dad, I'm back.

You're back?

Yang is back.

Have you got your phone and keys?

Yes.

Mom, Dad, I'm back.

You're back.

Mom, I'm going to wash my hands.

Wash up.

Don't you think your son

is acting weird recently?

What's wrong?

Think about it.

He's talking less.

Why isn't he working overtime anymore?

He didn't tell us

that his team leader gave him some other job either.

He just comes back in time for dinner every night.

We've used up so much of our rice.

Yang,

dinner will be ready in half an hour.

I need to go investigate.

I'm going to be late.

This...

Eat this on the go.

Bye-bye.

Okay.

Have you taken

your keys, phone, and wallet?

Yes. Don't worry.

Take care.

[Job hunting]

Come on. What are you doing?

Don't sell me out.

Bro, there's someone there.

Are you blind? What are you doing?

Wait a minute. I need to take this call.

Hello, Mrs. Sheng?

Hello, Song.

Are you busy?

Am I distburbing you?

No, no.

Let me tell you,

it feels really sweet to hear your voice.

Is something wrong?

Well, just now,

I messaged Yang.

He didn't reply.

I just wanted to ask

if he's in the company right now.

He didn't reply?

Yes, he's working overtime right now.

He's having a meeting with a colleague.

Let me call him for you.

No, no, no.

Don't bother him.

No need.

This isn't a bother.

Let me tell you.

You are definitely the priority

for him.

Wait a second. I’ll get him for you.

Yang? Sheng Yang?

Mrs. Sheng,

he might really be busy right now.

How about this?

When he's done,

I'll have him call you back right away, okay?

No, no, no.

Let him be busy.

Actually, you've all been working hard.

Working overtime every day

is not easy.

When can you all take a break?

We should be able to take a break

after these current projects.

That's good.

Let me tell you.

Yang's work

is always done

very well.

Our boss always praises him

for being hardworking.

Our boss is really satisfied with him.

He also said

that as long as we finish these projects,

he'll get a short break

so he can rest up,

so don't worry.

He won't get burned out.

Okay.

I understand.

Song,

come over when you have time.

Come visit us.

I'll cook you something delicious.

Okay, sure.

I'll go to your house when I'm free.

Okay, that's it.

Bye, Mrs. Sheng.

Okay, I'm back.

Bad news.

Your son

lost his job.
