forget hey chicken Stephanie come on [Music]

I must insist that this be kept out of the newspapers the girl's family has

been notified the Board of Governors will have to be told but we cannot have

any publicity you do understand that it was with an accident that Lake is

off-limits to the girl she had no business being there undoubtedly it was

some kind of assignation with one of the boys from the prep school it's all most

unfortunate unfortunate oh yes I guess it was what was your relationship with a girl relationship mr. kempert I am the

headmistress of the finest girl school in the country Timber Logan was a pupil

here that is the extent of any relationship miss Wade can you tell me

anything about the girl what was she like you're not a local person are you

no actually because if you were you doubt was having better understanding of

the situation here you see many of our girls are third and

fourth generation star water pupils we have a tradition here a continuity

timbres mother and grandmother attended this school but you still didn't like

her no no as a matter of fact I did not timber was spoiled arrogant

temperamental she never hesitated to flout Authority reject discipline

however that is all in the past now you know what fascinates me about people

like you and you don't want to think about something SAP that person or thing

no longer exists mr. Kemper what on earth are you talking about never mind

thank you for your time if there's something you think I should know I'll

be walking around the school I won't bother anyone I'd appreciate that I'm

sure you would

[Music]

[Music]

amid some good reasons why shocked hated Antonio Alfia um I guess I guess he didn't like anybody very much I'll see

ya you are scientist reading a week ago we

are discussing Merchant of Venice act 1 scene 3 does anybody have any idea what we are doing here Stephanie Charlotte

was a moneylender who charged interest and Antonio with loan money to people at

no charge also Antonio was always putting Shylock

down in front of other people there was a speech when Antonio was making a deal

to borrow the money many time and oft in the rialto you have rated me about my money in my use census mm-hmm very good

Stephanie do you think Shylock had a good motive for the intended murder well

I guess it was murder wasn't it then the motive would be revenge but I don't

think that it was an accident really was it the glass for this maybe between the

two of us we can really put her away [Music] you were standing right there when we

pulled her out across she drowned no justification for a full post-mortem and

the facial contusions and the bump on her head

come on Russ you've seen enough drowning naturally she had intuitions the lake is

full of John for pete's sake we found it right by the dark he slipped she fell in

caught in the weeds she drowned little file an accidental death report that's

that well there's more to it than that I mean you can call it street sense you

can call it anything you want but the vibes of that school are completely out

of whack and the principal she's right out of Oliver Twist look kid you're

better now what about three months three months I got no idea why you left the big city

for dead duck Chong like this but I got to tell you there's nothing going on

Hamilton lakes or stark waterhole it hasn't been going on here for a hundred

years what's wrong with school it puts this town on the map for pete's sake quit

trying to make something I'm nothing drew died accidentally it's unfortunate but that's it unfortunate I'm sorry bill

I gotta go with my good I need a full post-mortem on timber Logan Russ I got

ahold of the school board they give us what they can on the faculty what you

know about school was great well let's top ten academically

outrageous tuition you got any kid at birth did you want him in there a few

scholarships here no no how long has the principal been there mr. white weight

maybe 25 years before that she was a student not one of your warmer human

beings but well she does have a lot of clout in this town Russ this department

she doesn't you know there's there's something sick about a place like that

all those kids being spent away from their families it's not right

no kid should live with their parents not a bunch of dried-up academics that

don't know the first thing about raising children Turnbull Logan I'd like you to find out

some information on her any relationship she had outside the

school boys cetera you know back I can tell you that right now

she had a single one last year was their old Fox cause the hell of a fuss right

now he's doing two years for contributing to the delinquency of a

minor action any a relationship to the kid that works at the stables this is

older brother how do you ride in these things are so uncomfortable yeah I try riding English without them you get

bruises all over your legs you look pretty weird too when you guys

we're gonna be late and I've already got two strikes against me three late work

to do a personal appearance in the weights office that's every class not

just for us one session with her is enough anyway okay speech number 44 a are 52 b 44 a is

never darken my door and 52 p is one about how difficult is going to be for

you to fit in since you're not exactly stock water material don't worry

sit up straight get off the bed oh you're right without rains tomorrow

Stephanie come here House on the Prairie

Stephanie watch this Shama with some figure 8 simple and flying

changes do them

see you be as good as that when we're finished

mister I'm from a farm in the San Joaquin Valley

I'd like that I'd be left out of town maybe left out of the school if you

don't somebody cut my bridle I mean like I used it yesterday was all right then

would be so barking hey it was all locked up this morning when I got here people are in now they're all the time

though already get one of the school bridles for barn to use yeah take a look

an attacker and see if anything else has been touched

do it now Eddie

what's the matter oh nothing I guess it's just that Farrar was in the tack room this morning I saddle the horses I

clean the tag he's got no business in there anyway how are you doing I mean do

you like it here okay suppose it's kind of hard sometimes you know to fit in they're all so sure of themselves

they've all known each other forever it's better than it was though I want

the sheet brush down properly tonight and don't forget to put a blanket on it yes your highness your royal highness

[Music]

[Music]

oh the contest had a gun in the garden any shot I don't know and you have to

say it's 2:30 in the morning this is your lovely work

[Music] [Applause]

[Music] [Applause] [Music]

[Applause] [Music] [Applause]

[Music] [Applause]

[Music] do you remember Katie Tisdale

yeah didn't you graduate last year looks like she flunked out for and more no

problem her Paris have done in a library and get into someplace else

backslider well why don't you try Cali be less tough morning dad got French

right after breakfast with me to hand in your essay no I haven't finished it yet

up into visitors Sharma's math she around she's been writing since the

crack of dawn he's so sweet oh yeah that's Cortes my parents said unto me from South America wait a minute maybe

you know you think she'd be a lot happier with timber gone away timber

treated her aggregor the blow of the head could have been inflicted by a

second party but it didn't kill her she drowned like I said thanks for humoring

me though if you want to leave the big city street service at home every once I

got someone the faculty someone's kind of interesting yo miss Wade comes from a

real prominent San Francisco family how would I know that yet kept her here what

be right there almost call get my car Althea backer

just been founded [Music]

[Applause] we were running low on grain so we

needed to feed rooms bring out some more she was lying there

yeah but where were you when never mind thank you

I need access to the girls classmates anyone that came in contact with her in

the place to toggle it will do everything necessary to accommodate you

mr. Kemper but in return I must insist the newspapers be kept out of this well

perhaps you're not aware of it miss Wade but the Constitution guarantees freedom

of the press and a murder in Hamilton Lakes is not an everyday event nevertheless I have already spoken to

the owner of the local paper and I would appreciate your not encouraging any

media coverage at all I'll be in my office if you require anything further

you'll have to excuse her this school is a most important thing in her life she's

very upset yes yes I can see that now Ferrara

perhaps you'd give Officer Craig a statement as to your whereabouts

Susan Colby

it's quite happen this cops all over the place what's going on 13 been bars

somebody killed our fearless tables this morning oh well at least it wasn't anybody lead it's true isn't it nobody

liked her sure MA she's dead that's what you said

[Music] I guess they have a different attitude

about destiny use don't they

[Music]

got kittens upstair chants jerem when he got kittens drives him crazy

[Music]

you can't think of anyone who would want to hurt I'll see you haven't been here

very long I told you if you seem to have been there long enough to get involved

in a classroom time with her yeah I did I mean she purposely spray paint over my

shirt it's not enough in other words to strangle with baling wires what

Stephanie

is how she died make a difference not it doesn't it it's just so horrible okay I

guess that's enough

Stephanie there's anything you would like to tell me Lord I'll call you I

really will

she was playing evidence with us the cop said the murder happened at 5:00 and

kind of how do they know I'm gonna meet how to name the cops okay and we went to

bed at 3:00 she could easily have gotten out to do it easily yes

hi we were just going over everybody's excited

I heard you you were talking about Shama but I know she reacted a little weirdly

but that doesn't mean that she was not talking about me dear heart don't know

me you think it was me we didn't say that stuff look I mean

this is really scary you know one of the girls from this door I'm just thought

murdered it could have been in theirs timber maybe she didn't drown I didn't

even know timber to know her was not to care for it unless you're Lauren Peele

well if you think about it it could be any one of us it could have been one of

the faculty couldn't it oh why not some weirdo glad nothing to do with the

school at all look it's just so we don't know you're

all that well okay cow

okay fine join us welcome to the club step I'm going to leave all you little

Sherlock's to it and go take a shower and if you figure out it was me that did

it give me five to get dressed before you

call the cops okay

who's next with hunt you know she wouldn't go near this day well she's too

scared of the horses I'm getting all mixed up here I didn't keep this thing

straight here wait a minute why don't we use the evidence game we can make each

part a different member of staff it's a great idea okay woman judge can be right

chorus girl that's got to be the fair Eleanor and the nurse can be miss hunt the actor mr. ranked and the lawyer mr.

Frodo music object has to be hard again so

that leads Eddie I was just thinking of that Hannah no Kemper said Althea was

killed at 5 o'clock now who shows up at the stables at about that time hey

that's right the first thing he does his feet and he wouldn't hurt a fly besides

he doesn't have motive you ever notice how Eddie isn't too crazy about us poor

little rich girl yeah and what about last year timber and his brother who

went to jail I'm gonna talk to him I don't believe this

[Music] [Applause]

[Music]

Stephanie Stephanie can you hear me can you hear me come on take it easy no

don't move don't move yet are you feeling any pain in your back or any way

help me move its lucky they didn't hit her square Ross I checked all around I

couldn't find anything where have you been for the past half hour for her in

the paddock working one of the mayor she's got a stiff shoulder are you sure

you're okay I'm fine now when I walk back to the school

just stand there can you say you weren't working misty she's turned out in the back pasture where I was there's

nobody's business but mine

this going on nobody is gonna murder us not if we're together never seemed

hottest even two weeks and desperate flashback yes count

[Music]

[Music]

[Music] oh great find out anything interesting

and Libby Dean's diary oh just my stuff about how she didn't go on with your father like this

sometimes I wonder if he loves me at all I know he's busy and it's hard having a daughter who looks like me other single

parents are paying for their kids look at how a Lincoln she was with her father

and goes to day school right near her house Jeff lots of things like that this

is real interesting last night timber made me clean out her closet again then

I had to give her the answers to the science test

I said no when she punched me in the stomach it really hurt hate her so much had it with her maybe miss hunt will let

me change rooms hey timber I hate her I hate her maybe

even have to do something about it I'll see her back sir stole the diary nah

that's crazy she's just a kid I don't know I remember a story about a family

of six an 11 year old killed them all

yeah I guess wouldn't hurt to see where senator Dean's daughter was yesterday

morning 5:00 a.m.

ud was in the infirmary sick to her stomach after stuffing herself with half

a box of doughnuts I mean a bakery box mr. camford that's four dozen donuts to a box thank you Miss hunt are you happy

here Libby it's all right I understand your father's a Senator in Washington

would you like to live with him mr. Kemper Libby is a compulsive overeater

her father refuses to have her with him until she is presentable enough for his

kind of lifestyle I don't think that statement was necessary miss Wade Libby

yeah timber wasn't very nice to you was she I did my third I do but I wouldn't hurt her I told you I was at the lake

because LT used to hide the things she stole there but I didn't see timber

there or anybody Steph as I see it either Hartigan for rot or Eddie could

have pushed that hay down on you I just don't believe it was Eddie I just don't

doesn't like any of us you know he's really envious maybe you want to go on

with this after lunch I've got French but I can eat you later

oh darn I forgot Miss grants dumb French magazines um I'll see you guys

Shauna

Shauna are you feeling okay yeah strangled with her own scarf yes sir I realized repercussions but I need more

men yes no I've already put in a formal request

sir how the school closed down immediately oh you talk to miss wait I've had it

already I see sir I can't spare the lives of any more kids I see I don't

really care about the scandal that affects her school I'm a cop not a

politician gee thanks dad again oh it's understandable I mean Shauna's father's a bigwig in the oil business

but the media you're gonna get ahold of this no way Russ you don't seem to

understand you know how much Clovis weight house in this county don't even

you listen for the wire services to pick up you think that it please you though

who needs immediate roaming around here right that's of course uh what do you TV

star

you don't think it's a default we have the motor with Henry Logan the

approximate delfield back she has no alibi for last night

what about Hardy now a thing as a whistle it's near the school 40 years

four on the other hand yeah grand theft extortion I mean on old ladies bad

checks he served time I mean how come he hadn't been deported he's an American

citizen born outside the US moved back from Paris permanently when he was 19

bring him in like to see Eddie Fox again [Music]

cops brought ID back

see if you would have done anything wrong they wouldn't have let him go

members just stupid

we have been requested by the school board and the police department to close

the school for the rest of the summer

since it will take one or two days to make arrangements for you to leave

school classes will carry on as usual until you have all returned home in the

interest of your safety no one will leave the school grounds

you will spend three periods in your rooms and you will remain in groups of three or four at all times I hope that

you are sensible enough to understand why these precautions must be taken at

any moment there will be a number of police officers at the school I must

emphasize that they are here for your protection and you will do everything to

stay out of their way not interfere with their duties and they will stay out of

yours that is all goes

okay what happened what did they ask you lots of questions about where I was what

I was doing what did you do with the Glock I'm going

to give it to Kemper I didn't get a chance last night for our invade were

there all the time Eddie did they give you a bad time

no it's okay camper brought me back he's outside right now Eddie I'm on your side here really something

tell me honestly did you kill her of course I didn't kill him my god how

could you what do you expect I was with you but before you were with me remember

John I know a great deal about you the police found all right all right I

was in the auditorium she came in our swear it was not arranged she must have

followed me I told her to leave me alone that it was crazy

she's a little girl and I had no interest in her as a woman and she

started to cry so I left her there and I came to you now I swear that is the

truth please believe me you are the only woman in my life I'm here for you only

for you believe me

[Music]

John you you are all I have you win this place

this school

[Music] 22 years this this fool has been my life 22 years of watching students come here

as small children molding them into young women educating them giving them

the very best well I'm proud of that John I'm I'm I'm proud of what I've done

here that my girls can go anywhere they can be anything they want to when

they've left stark waterhole [Music]

so long

[Music] are you alright Severus

find whoever's doing it and be alright again

now be here with you [Music]

so you guys check that out let me know check that north entrance for me would

you please detective can I talk to you a minute

oh yes sir I couldn't tell you last night but there's something I was in the

stables playing with the cat and she ran into the feed room where Thea was I know I wasn't supposed to be in there but I

found this oh that's mr. Ferraris right you won't say it wasn't me that found it will you I mean it's getting pretty

scary around here of course found Edna feed room that we went over that pretty

thoroughly did you find it a couple of days ago I know I should have told you

before but our two souls therefore which are one though I must go enjoy yet not a

breach but an expansion like gold to Airy thinness beat

it's no good elephant you look dumb I can't get this horror off my mind

it's pool for girls no no Morgan I haven't been able to sleep thinking

about which one of us could be next I know I know it's been girls so far but

who knows when he'll start on the faculty

no it's the winter of our discontent made glorious summer about his son of

your Morgan you're so sensitive don't let the maddening but Eleanor I am the

mad where is your sense of decency these terrible things happening and all you can think of is to giggle and make fun

larita go to your room Kelly go to the dining room and start setting the tables

for lunch

I guess it's better he leave sure didn't you say friend here anymore what are you going to after tomorrow my dad can't get

away from the farm till then so he's gonna pick me up in Sacramento

I'm really gonna miss you yeah

you're the only real person added a lot of them

[Music] I'm like that's alright so let's

practice little hostess [Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

[Music] all right just take these slowly just look sure I don't know I wish I did

what is it some sort of weird electrical gadget and you sat on the horse this was

under the saddle so it must have shocked it and it bolted do something like do anything like this

who killed timber and Althea and Shama and then try to kill you

who's gonna be next I can't stand this anymore

[Music] why would Eddie try to kill her and then

see them to see whoever will do this is insane maybe we shouldn't go count this is our last chance to see the boys in

the fall semester quit talking and come on if we get caught were dead sorry poor

choice of words [Music]

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

Todd Carpenter was definitely worth the trip dude wasn't it passed out on me an

hour ago

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music] Stephanie Stephanie

Libby's missing they've looked all over the place and she's gone

[Music]

look at a cops all over the place and still Libby disappears they're useless you said throw up I don't have your

brown sweater you're gonna be next I can feel it I'm so scared

and you listen to me whoever it is isn't going to come after both of us and we

won't be apart for a minute I promise you that

marita come on we're supposed to be friends right here we don't yelling at

each other now that's your five bucks you're missing stuff is downstairs in

the laundry room

hello courthouse Peter what does is packed in here somewhere

you'll turn up

as far as we can see Lavar had no motive regarding the Logan murder but out the

end there how healthy was the kind of girl that could have found out about him and Wade

and used the blackmail and then there's the Saudi everybody knew they were

messing around on the side but Libby Libby Libby I don't know

I gotta go with Craig Russ the Fox kid has more motive than anybody his brother

went to jail because of one of the girls he hates their guts all they're rich they're privileged

they patronized the hell of you reset judges some metals too it's not too

crazy about his boss either you think that love could have been a plan I mean

he certainly had access yeah sure he did he was there when somebody tried to kill

Stephanie in the bar and he had better access than anybody should attack to set up the riding accident she Stephanie

doesn't fit they were friends she's not rich he likes her

Libby doesn't fit either so why isn't it be missing why would anyone want to hurt

Libby thumb Dale everyone seemed to like her

she talked to Farrar briefly

I guys want me to tell you I'm going to go to New Orleans to be with my sister

and her family for a while huh I'll be leaving tonight yo you're what Oh maybe

going to September please understand my sister is very sick

ever since campers spoke to you you've been distraught what did you say to me

it has nothing to do with him please understand this is a family matter well

since your family seems to be more important to you than star waterhole

perhaps I I should recommend against your contract renewal you'd blackmail me we had an

agreement

perhaps you would rather change your plans and and remain here at school for

seven years I have put up with you a coldness and your arrogance your constant demands I thought the other day

that you changed a little bit I was wrong you don't care about these girls

you care only that you are headmistress a famous stark water hall I know good

girls most of them I know you think I like them because they're pretty well

not altogether they have spirit they have a love of life and you you you are

an old one not years perhaps but in here and here you have nothing no no spirit

no heart no soul I have hated you I have pitied you and now I am glad to say goodbye

than you family didn't like him because he was a

cop

his second mistake was he got her pregnant yes even though he wanted to

marry her family didn't think that was good enough he thought there was a great

opportunity to break up the relationship so he tried she kept trying but there

was no use even the girl the girl even went against him you never have wound him he lost his job his good name

everything he was 37 years old shot himself and the girl she she had the baby was a baby boy she didn't want him

sushi get rid of him she gave him away and she forgot about him

can you imagine that forget about him for the next 18 years of his life magic corn from children's homes to foster

homes from one family to the next by accident his father was soon after that

he tracked down his mother never get to tell you he was a cop to found his

mother at this fancy girls school this school was the most important thing in

the world tour she didn't want anything else so he decided to take it away from

her everything her reputation or school there that's Stephanie story I live this
