All language subtitles for 1. Using Named Ranges and Sorting Data in Excel 2016

In this video we will create a named range for ourselves and saw the data in the vote sheet.

We have learned that each cell is referenced by a unique combination of raw and column names which makes

it easy to refer to the cell elsewhere in the log sheet.

You can also give a cell or a group of cells a unique name which makes it easy to understand what information

the cell or cell range contains.

Let us create a named range for cells A4 to F 15.

First we need to select the cells then click in the name box above column a header and type the name

like this type.

Monthly sales data

and press enter Excel names the cell range as monthly sales data you can refer to this range elsewhere

in the world sheet by this name.

Many times you want to sort your data to make it easier to understand and analyze or to find required

information easily when you saw data in excel.

You are basically arranging it based on a certain criteria Excel has very powerful sort function you

can use to rearrange your data in a meaningful v let us now sort the data to find the month with the

highest sales column F has sales amount.

If we select only column F and sorted Excel will rearrange the data in the column but not in other columns

making the entire data unusable so select the entire cell range before sorting it to make sure that

all columns are rearranged.

Based on this sort result in the editing group click the source and filter tool if you click on sort

A to Z or sort Z to A Excel saw the cell range based on the values in the first column.

If you want to control how Excel sorts the data and which columns are used for sorting select custom

sort Excel opens this sort dialog box in the sort by list select column F as it contains the monthly

sales values on which we want to source the data in this sort of list the default option is values but

you can also choose to sort based on cell color font color and cell icon in the order list select largest

to smallest as we want to find the month with the highest.

name of the month in the sort on list select values in the order list select custom list if your sword

column contains special data like name of the month or day of the week you may also want to use custom

list option using custom list.

You can tell Excel to sort your data according to specialists like name of months day of the week etc..

You can also create your own custom list select.

January February March from the custom lists as we want to sort on ascending order of months click Okay.

Click okay on the site dialog box to sort the data.

Excel rearranges the data in the ascending order of the month.
