so that already presents a

conflict of interest.

according to what she wrote, was

for Chloe to raise her daughter.

bound to get messy.

It's for a good cause.
It could be fun or it could be

totally lame, I don't know.

It's a good thing, uh, I have

an extra.
>> Haley: Did one of your

friends bail out on you again?

and she can't use it, so it's

Like--like I said, it's just
two friends going out and having

a little fun on New Years.

files.

It's a big mess.
And I get that Steve's trying to

help clean it up, but he should
be doing it here in Salem with

his wife.

Going it alone is kind of a
Johnson family trait.

Instead of sticking around and
trying to work things out with

your family, we tend to go off
half-cocked and do things on our

own.

degree, I am.
But I'm not nearly as bad as

Steve.
Or my brother Jack.

I remember him.

He was engaged to my sister
Melissa before he met Jennifer.

Jack and Jennifer were perfect

together.
I miss him every day.

Walker from the Center.

She was Eric's true love.
And he went to find her, and it

ended tragically.

heart-breaking, especially for

Eric.
I mean, she really was the love

of his life.
I know...how he feels.

Sometimes you feel like that
pain is never gonna go away.

of the accident that killed
Daniel.

But the reality is, these
custody cases get ugly, Eric.

I mean, I represented Brady in
his fight for Tate, and you know

how that turned out.

I'm on the mother's side.

Nicole's letter.
I mean, that document makes it

look like you're actually
fighting what she wants.

wrote that letter because she

thought we'd never be together
again.

Justin, we found each other.
We were going to be a family.

care of Holly.
Brady heard her say it.

care about this little girl,

My name is Jennifer Horton, and
I just want to thank each and

every one of you for being here
tonight to support the Horton

Center.
My cousin Julie is the

incredible woman who organized
this beautiful event, and, um,

she asked me to speak on her
behalf tonight, and I really

couldn't be more honored.
My grandparents, Tom and Alice

Horton, for 25 years,
they took families in need

into their home.
And because of their kindness

and their generosity and their
unwavering commitment to this

community, that is why the
Horton Center is here.

And I really am so proud, so
proud of them, so proud of our

community.
I could go on and on about all

the services and the programs we
offer, but I would like you to

meet someone who is on the front
lines every single day.

And, um...he's a good man.
He is the director of all of our

programs, and his name is Eric
Brady.

Please welcome him.

Thank you all for being here

tonight on this special
occasion.

I want to extend my gratitude to
Jennifer and Julie who do

all the work that they do,
to all of the auction items that

have been donated tonight,
obviously.

But, um, what I would like to
really talk about is

second chances.
You know, not long ago, there

was a time that I was in a very
dark place, and I felt hopeless.

A place where people would try
to reach out to me, and I

rejected them.
But Jennifer--she never gave up

on me.
She said that she had a job for

me at the Center,
an opportunity to help others

that, in turn, would only help
me.

[laughs]
Yes.

Well, it has in a great way.
The work that I do has given me

a new outlook on life.
And a similar thing happened to

a great woman named Nicole
Walker.

Ms. Walter, she worked for the
Center.

She said it helped her get out
of her head...

step back and see things that
were really important.

Nicole treated everyone with
dignity and respect.

She brought light into their
eyes and hope into their hearts.

As many of you know, Nicole
recently passed.

Gone far too soon.
But I want you to know her

spirit will forever remain at
the Horton Center.

So your donations tonight will
not only honor Nicole's memory,

but all the many others in need.

she will be so missed.

myself for what I did to Nicole.

There's just no way to take it

I'd give anything just to have
her walk through those doors

right now.

in a year.
