We got a lot of stuff.

to get overloaded here.

The C-Cans are full again.

We find so much great salvage,

but here we are again
overloaded, and it's stressful.

But we'll put
fair prices on, like,

below market value,
just to move it out.

I really like the idea
of having a big public sale

once a year, an open house.

find their treasure,

The open house is exciting,

but it's a lot
of work for everybody

and I want to fill this
place with buyers, new and old.

start prepping

Ted and the guys
head out for a quick visit

to an old gas station.

[Ted] We're in Welland, Ontario
at an old service station,

almost a scrapyard.
George is the owner.

Hey, welcome to town.

I'm George and I've
been here for 42 years.

[Ted] You've got
a lot of stuff here, George.

-Hey, I'm 42 years.
-42 years of collecting?

And how many years before that
from the previous owner?

[Ted] First impression,
this is a bit of a junkyard.

There's a lot of stuff,
but not much I can sell here.

It's too bad
it's been sitting outside,

it's just getting wrecked.

The main thrust
of the business was gas.

[Ted] Right.

-[George] It was a foot service.
-[Ted] Right.

So, you want
to clear all this out?

Slowly, slowly.

We'll find
a good home for everyone.

I like finding
a good home for stuff.

That's what I do.

[Ted] This is not
a normal job for me,

but every so often, I don't mind
doing some shopping.

It's got to be the right item
at the right price,

as long as we make money on it.

to a conclusion with my partner,

my brother, and the family
that it's time to move on.

I went to Oshawa

-and I got about 20, 22 units.

[George] And they all sold,
and that's how we pay the bills.

We sell it as
a 50-year-old clock.

Cars,
pictures, all that stuff.

They represent my inner world.

There are nice things,
there are ugly things,

but you make
a balance out of it.

but it helps me to feel good.

I saw that Vespa sign,

and I have a client
that buys them all the time.

for customers with cars,

but we also grew some grapes.

a Gulf sign over there.

[George] Yeah. That is
part of our heritage again.

First thing I saw
was an old service station sign.

That one's
probably out of the '60s.

It's plastic, but it's
very clean. Very nice piece.

So, this sign
looks okay, George?

-[Ted] It's not cracked at all.

-Show me where this Vespa is.

The Vespa is right here
with my bike collection.

I estimate to be '78, '79

or in the early '80,

because that's when
we start the business.

then that's when it came.

small town life in Canada.

but they're worth preserving.

on the recently salvaged Vespa.

[Ted] I think first thing
is we gotta hot wire it.

We'll just take that apart,
cross the wires

so we can start it, right?

Then, we'll hook up
the gas tank, fill it with fuel.

[John]
Well, you're going

to have to check
the carburetor first

because your carburetor
isn't even hooked up.

[Ted] We're not
doing a full restoration.

[John]
I understand that,

but if somebody comes
in to buy the fucking thing

and it's not running right
and you kick it over

and all of a sudden,
it goes [blows raspberry].

No, no, we're going
to make sure it's running right.

I think if we can get
this going, it's going to go.

All right. I get the first ride.

-[Ted] You want me to do it?

[John] Yeah, go ahead,

This scooter is a classic.

[narrator] Vespa scooter
was created in Italy

after the Second World War
to provide people

with a cheap
and reliable way to get around.

The prototype was made
out of spare airplane parts

by the Piaggio family
and gets its name,

the Italian word for wasp,

from its unique sound
and distinct handlebars.

The scooter was so popular
across Europe

that the company
sold a million Vespas

in its first ten years
of operation.

Nick, listen, Ted thinks
we can get this thing going

by hot wiring it. Can you do it?

Yeah, if we can get
this ignition off,

we can see the wires behind it
and we can do something.

Since I was a kid, I've always
been on small engine stuff.

Had dirt bikes, fixed them,
broke them, fixed them again.

It turns over.

[John] It does.
And that's a good sign.

[Nick] If John and I can
get this thing running,

it'll make an easy sale.

This Vespa will double in value.

This thing's still cool, though.

It'll really turn out
once we get her going.

-[John] What do you think?
-[Nick] Needs more fuel.

This is a great project for John
and Nick. They can bond.

Why isn't any fuel
coming out the bottom?

and get them done.

She's open to challenges.

She accepts any project
that we give her,

and she flips it
and turns it around

into something beautiful.

It has been so awesome

and it has been really fun.

when all this started,

I'm Jen and I saw
the sale was happening

on social media, so I thought
it would be a perfect day

to come out for it.

So, I got some cool phones
in here. They're really old.

-How old?
-[Ted] Like, old. Like, 1920s.

Out of the Kenny Hotel.

So, this hotel was,
in its day, a really nice place.

Look at this.
It's very cool, eh?

Yeah, that bar is stellar.
Very nice.

This closet is
like a time capsule.

We do have a ghost.

[Ted] They think it's haunted.

How cool is that?

And I've been looking
for one for years.

This is just a perfect time.

and we're just renovating

our cottage over there.

And I was actually looking
for some sliding doors.

Well, I took
that down carefully.

I can see that.

Barn doors, sliding doors,

people are putting
them up everywhere.

The door comes off really easy.

You just pop off the end,
slides right off the track.

The tricky part is
getting that bar off.

There's, like, five inch spikes
and they're right into a beam.

So you don't want to crack it.

It's all cast,
so you can't pry too much.

[Sonya]
And the hardware is all this?

[AJ] Yeah,
all the rollers are built in.

[Ted]
I love the hardware.

The hardware is beautiful.

You gave me a price,
but it was 300.

There's a lot of stuff here.

Oil and gas related.
That's what we're looking for.

Well, these are very cool.
That stuff sells like mad.

do you think this is?

[George] Well,
it's easy 100 years old.

[Shane] It's nice
to have a Canadian pump.

These were made by service
station equipment from Toronto,

so we always like
restoring stuff from Canada.

it's almost all there.

A couple of parts are missing.

I got other skins for it.
I got cylinders for it.

-But it's a good start.
