The rest of us would be exhausted looking.

Jeannie also getting a little
loopy with her outfits at this point.

This is definitely some of
our last days of filming here. Last week.

Actually, I do want to bring
that up, that's a great point.

Um, Bailiff Nikki yelled at Jeannie
on the first or second day

and she like, cried in the stand
because she was telling her,

she's like, you need to represent
yourself well,

like, you're not supposed to wear
those clothes here.

- Oh, that's right!
- It was a big deal.

Feelin' a little

Made a big choice

we were dressed as officers.

Because we don't see
a ton of it, you know.

So we basically just
took Todd to the mall,

it was something that Vanessa
and I had talked about doing,

we wanted to help get him
to come out of his shell.

And then when we are at Margaritaville
and he had that shirt on,

he was like,
"Yeah, I actually like that shirt."

And we're like,
"Yeah, you look good in it, you know,

have you ever thought about
changing your wardrobe?"

And he was like, "No, not really
but I'm not opposed to it."

So we just kinda just ran with that idea.

In addition to my new clothes,

We, yeah, we went to a Foot
Locker, we got some sneakers...

Jake came out of the wall
and was like,

"Just make his hair crazy."
Like, when you went to the bathroom.

- Oh, my God.
- Just do his hair crazy!

What's that character
that he reminds me of?

It's like a cartoon.

That Todd reminds me of.

Woody Woodpecker?

But it's an actual little boy.

When you were giving him
his hairdo and stuff,

there was a point, I was like,
this sounds scripted,

But I was like, we have an episode

Vanessa and Todd fall in love?

It was fun watching you guys together.

I vividly remember...

So Maria and I played
the first round with you.

To make it like this really fun thing.

and specificity on top of it
is what he made up.

This is one-- some of the
hardest we laughed in rehearsals.

Seeing Ron and Ken go through
this and how we play this--

We-- we-- were so excited about this.

And there was a lot more Yut
playing that happened

-than you see in the episode.
- He felt a lot of pressure.

This is another big beat.
You know, for each actor

depending on what beat
they had to execute,

-They feel a lot of pressure.

To make sure it went great.

Because some days,
you're kinda coasting and supporting,

This was Ron's day
and he killed it.

You said that this was a game
that Ron grew up playing with his family.

It's a real game.

So it was scripted that he has
this whole gambling thing, right?

So were you just gonna
manufacture a game?

that was just made up.

I think Andrew called it "Beans".

- Yeah.

And then Ken made it, uh,
Ron as Ken, made it so much better saying

Hey, I know we're making up a game
but there's this real game

that I'd love to introducing people to

because a lot of people haven't played it
outside of Korea--

you know, and so what if we
base it off this and use that?

And we were like, "Yes please!"

Like, again, it just added that extra
layer of authenticity.

And then when the sticks land,
is it inside or outside?

Is it insi- -whatever you pick,
he was gonna be like, "Oh, no!"

-Oh, no!

I know, and I was doing
everything I could

to give him the opposite of what
I thought he didn't want to hear,

-you know? So--

- I was starting to sweat.
- It was a losing game, bro.

And you're like, "No, it's not."

these happened on the same day.

and you want these emotional lows,

you want to put the other characters
in places,

where, then Ronald can
help bring them back from,

but because we're doing it for real,

it's having real effects on Ronald,

it was like, on paper,
it was the right thing to do

but then doing it,
we were like, "Oh, man,

maybe we shouldn't
have done it this way."

That didn't feel good.
Yup. Yup.

This was tough for
us behind the scenes.

We were worried about it
after it happened.

On the game?

I don't think
you're good at betting.

I'm like, "No, I'm gonna do it."
She's like, "No, I'm gonna do it."

And we have this, like,
girl fight over Todd.

And we just howled laughing and you had
no idea what was going on.

I was so glad. I was so scared.

Dude, your shorts are so big,

you can put an entire
Mountain Dew in the back pocket.

I know a friend of mine...

And you can tell
everyone's having trouble

actually getting through these scenes

because you can feel
when the air went out.

- Yeah.
- Everyone was like,

"I feel really strange
about this right now."

And I feel bad for Ronald
and how do I keep going

through these scenes. Yeah.

And was it scripted--
we show it in episode 8, obviously,

not in this episode,
that you actually come back

to try and make it better.

- But it was not scripted.
- That was not scripted at all.

-We-- we, you gotta go back.
- We did it on the fly.

- Yeah, this is too much.
- I was supposed to leave.

And then just be in a pissy mood
for the rest of the show.

Yeah.

But, we were like,
and also,

brilliantly done to just do it on the fly,
to come back

-with the cake...

...but it's like, a "Congrats,
it's a girl" cake or something.

No, that made it perfect,
too, because that just

added to the story you were creating
for the person that James was

'cause I watched him flip the cake,
he comes back,

he doesn't even check
the cake he brings back

to make sure it's the right one.
Like, what kind of a d-bag move is that?

It's a balance.
There's an intention there...

There is an intention, it's a gesture,
but also like--

He ran to Vons
and checked what they had.

To then put on that as in
then added to that?

It would be really hard
to take your brain out of that.

Well, in a sitcom,
you can play a jerk character

and the Ronald, quote-unquote,
character is just next to him.

We write him next to him and he's there.

But in real life, Ronald could be like,

"No, I don't wanna be next to this guy."

- Forget it.

And I noticed that, too,
like early on,

when we were feeling you out, Ronald,

it was, as soon as I started to do
anything that was a little--

A little, you know, self-involved
and questionable, or unsavory or whatever,

you would start to migrate toward
the other people

and just hang out because
you didn't want to be associated with me.

- Yup.
- Oh, yeah, the one--

that really sticks out in my mind
was when you were exercising

and you were making it abundantly clear

- Ripped?
- Grunting and groaning

Yeah, and I was like,
"Dude, I don't want to be

around this guy right now."

Guess you don't like
being in shape.

It sounds like a you problem.

being friendly with her

but it wasn't like he needed her
to you know, make every decision
