All language subtitles for 2. The Essentials to Effect Controls

Have already Welcome back it is bright again from brand new to dot tv.

In this video we're going to show you how to navigate the effects controls tab.

It's probably one of the most important in my opinion tabs that you'll be using in Adobe Premiere Pro

and it does look very confusing when you first look at it but I'll give you a quick rundown of what's

going on.

And then you can walk away and have a play with it in your own time.

So we've got a little project and we did a couple little clips here a little GoPro clips that we've

been playing with or you might be using your own footage.

And what I'll do is I'll show you when we click on each one of these clips.

So for example I'll drag in another GoPro clip here.

Two or two little clips on our timeline just like that.

Now when I click on this clip here all of the effects associated with this clip show up in the effects

panel over here on the top left hand corner.

Now if you don't see effects controls up here.

Right.

It might be sort of hiding in the two arrows you might have to click on the two arrows up here and then

click on effects controls.

Right.

And by doing that you'll see all of the effects or the video effects for this clip and all the audio

effects for this clip.

So if I make changes down here I'll show you exactly what I mean.

If I grab this here and I drag the audio down to decrease the decibels you'll see that the change is

made over here as well.

So you order effects for this particular clip which is illuminated.

So like that it just visually drag the audio down to make it not as loud.

So drag it down a little bit more.

Right.

And you can see that on the audio made it just there.

It's decreased.

And over here it's down to minus eight point four decibels.

So you can either make the change visually to the clip or you can go into your effects controls and

do it this way.

Now also out of the top so we've got our video effects.

So the first one is out in terms of the absolute basic effects related to pretty much every clip that

you're going to chuck into Adobe Premiere Pro is position.

So if you just play around with this you can see that x y position we can change by just clicking on

the number and just dragging it left and right.

And as you can see we're applying the effects specifically to this clip here and the change is being

seen here on the program monitor box.

Right.

We can also actually make the change we can change the scale directly inside the program box right here.

All right.

So we can make it really small can make a really large as we're making that change the scale is changing

over.

Watch how I'm making one change of here and the numbers increasing and decreasing over here.

So you can even click and drag it around.

This changes the position of the clip inside the program.

It's a box right.

You move around.

You can see these numbers changing or you can just do it directly over here.

You click on this little arrow here drop it down.

You can change the scale by moving the slider left and right.

Now if you make mistakes and you like where was it.

Like a stuffed up of screwed this up or I do.

If you just hit that there it resets it back right.

If I had this here it resets that back to how it was right that's a very easy way of going back to where

you started to save you time fiddling around.

But does hit the undo option that if we move further down I just suggest you play around with these

options.

But it's important to remember that if you want to make changes on this clip here the first clip you've

got is selected first.

Right.

And then you go to effects controls and remember.

And this used to really mess with my head when I first started using the software I was really confused

about what was going on because I thought I would physically click on this clip as I've done here.

And then I'd go.

All right.

So what I want to do is I want to make the opacity about 50 percent.

So I'd click on this clip here.

Watch this and then I'd go to opacity over here and then I'd drop it down to like 50 percent or just

call it 20 percent.

Right.

And then I look at my program monitor box and get what the heck's going on like nothing's changing.

This used to mess with my head so much.

I'm like This is ridiculous.

I hate this software.

This makes no sense.

And I got here and like make changes and go there's something wrong with the software.

I literally thought this up this is messed up like nothing's working.

It was because my play head was positioned over the next clip over this clip.

So what you got to do is make sure you play head is over the clip that you changing because you don't

see what's going on.

Right.

So if we make sure their play heads over the clip that we're changing as highlighted as you can see.

Then we go to affix controls.

Then we play around with stuff like our.

There we go hard on the second pass that is working.

That's pretty cool.

So I'm like oh hold on a minute.

I've really screwed this up and I just hit undo right there takes it back to the original setting undo

undo.

Go go through this and have a play around with it and then you've got your audio effects controls here.

So all the audio side of the clip so the audio as I've explained briefly before you can actually modify

the audio down here visually by just clicking on the actual audio.

They call like a rubber band and just drag it down dragging it up to increase and decrease the decibels

and you can see that the number also changes that we hear as well.

If you hit the arrow you can increase and decrease it by that and when you do that you can see visually

change over here as well.

Right.

Or just delete that key frame.

For now we don't need that there right now.

If you scroll further down you've got your left and right volume.

So you know if you want to increase and decrease the left and right channels you can do that that way

as well.

So just have a play around with this now when you're applying effects to this particular clip.

This is what happens and then more close off the video will go and do it together.

For example if I were to do something pretty basic I want to say go to effects and I want to add a.

For example I'm not sure something about contrast.

Let's have to see what we have.

So if we add

black and white for example we drag it over the top.

I've just applied the effect of black and white directly to this clip and when I've done that this little

I can hear changes to green and then at the same time if I scroll down you'll see here that it's all

of a sudden showed up in our FX control window here.

I mean that wasn't there before.

Right.

So if I hit the effects option there I can turn this on and off.

I can toggle it on and off you see a little cross for the effects there.

I know this must seem like a lot but after a while you get used to this.

So as you can see it's now at the bottom of the list.

So what I suggest you do is just go through here and just play around with the different settings the

different effects.

Drag it into clip and then I want you to just play around and see what happens.

And just experiment.
