All language subtitles for 1. Make Your Audio Sound Awesome! (Basic Audio Mixing)

Hi everybody welcome back but again Brownie's and dot tv I'm going to show you how to mix your audience

just like the way I've done it here.

And one of my logs.

So they have my pretty amazing blogs pretty amazing audio and everything is pretty clear.

And you can have some background music and your dialogue.

And it's not going to it's going to sound nice and really nice.

Are you going to show you how to do that in the short video.

OK so the first thing you do when you're editing your audiophile lugs is to make sure that you never

peek out over here.

So this is your audio output here the audio output monitor up here.

So if that hits the red you're in trouble.

It should never hit the red and if it hits the red then we need to fix it.

So I'll show you what I mean.

So if I play this back and I've already put these clips into my time on that I want for my final product

if I hit play what's the audion monitor over there.

We're in the red.

I keep playing now I've stopped it.

And when I hit play it's going to reset that

OK.

So what you're hearing you're hearing like Robin in the background.

So she's around here you can see if you look at the waveform and I'll expand this out.

It's quite low.

I can't really hear her too much.

You can hear me I'm a little bit loud.

Then there's like banging and that kind of stuff.

And they're picked out before.

So at the moment we have audio that's all over the place.

Right.

So what we want to do first before we even mix the audio is to level the audience.

All of our levels are about the same and we're not going to kill grandma speakers when she's watching

this vlog on her very old TV.

All right.

So the first thing we do is this is what I do for all my blogs is I go to.

It's just so we're on the same page.

I want you to make sure that you're in editing.

So if you click up here editing and then I want to make sure that when you click on these two areas

that you've got audio track Mixu and gevalt you click on that you'll see something like this if you

do it there might be two little arrows up here which you click on first and then you'll see this pop

up.

So you got track 1 track to track three.

This is for your audio.

Right.

So what we're going to do is follow along and this looks confusing but once you do this a couple of

times it's pretty straightforward.

You be very fast at doing it.

Click on this go to amplitude and compression.

Go to multiband compressor click on that then it'll show up in here.

So what we're doing is we're applying this effect to the entire track.

Track one audio track one so all of the audio clips on this track are going to be impacted by this multiband

compressor.

If we double click on this what we're going to do this looks confusing.

Will keep it super simple.

This is all I do.

I want to hit the drop down box.

I'm going to like anything on my list anything.

Get a toy.

And then click on this again and then click on broadcast.

So we want to set our preset to broadcast Adobe Premiere Pro is going to work its magic over here by

adjusting all the sliders.

The only other thing you need to change is your margin right.

What I usually do said it's like minus four minus five minus three even.

So what we're doing just real quick if I said that to Mondas for click off it close that what it's doing

is the quiet areas of my audio.

It's going to bring those levels up and the louder parts of my audio it's going to bring them down so

that they're opaque above minus four.

So if I play that if I play this back this is what happens.

Remember when it peaked out before.

Watch this.

What are these levels.

It's not going above minus four

and Robin is now.

She's easier to hear.

Because now the low parts of my audio track have now been brought up those audio levels for the lower

parts have been brought up so she is now easier to hear.

And that literally took me like 30 seconds one minute.

Right.

So that's the first thing I do.

The second thing I do is that I mix my background track to my audio just to give it more flair.

And this is the easiest way of doing it.

And again while I'm mixing these two together this is my background track and this is my audio dialogue

as I'm always looking at my audio output monitor to make sure that I'm never going to peak.

So watch this the background track is slowly coming in.

I haven't paid.

All right so those levels are good.

I'm happy.

Great.

So all I do now.

If you're just dragging your background track this is what it looks like.

Right.

This is what I'll demonstrate it.

This is pretty much what it's going to do.

You're going to have two tracks which are not mixed.

This is how it's going to sound.

So at the moment this is not mixed properly.

The background track in my dialogue haven't been mixed properly.

The background track is actually drowning out my dialogue.

And that's a problem.

And as you can see because the output or the monitor is like the it puts these two together and as you

can see when you add these two together it's going to pick out

even with their multiband compressor turned on because now factoring in these two put together and then

overlapping.

So a lot of people complain about this.

When I first started doing the blog like back in 2016 people like you know it's hurting my speakers

because I didn't know anything about audio mixing When I first started.

This is what you don't.

This is what I do is I get my pencil like this.

I click on that.

I press P on the keyboard and then what I do is I click on anywhere along this line.

Right.

And with my pen tool and as you can see when I click on that it creates a little dot.

Right.

I'll zoom in a little bit more so you can see it.

And what I can do is I can drag it down.

I can drag it up.

And so what I want to do.

The ultimate aim in this industry standards here they say like you're you know the output levels need

to be a certain certain level for broadcast standard.

Now we're doing of log.

And the most sensible thing is to make sure that your background music is not going to be so distracting

that people are not going to hear or not going to be focused on what you're saying.

Right so you want that's pretty much what we're working toward.

If you play this back and you find the background track is too loud too distracting then you need to

decrease it until it's not.

And that's pretty much the industry standard that I play by and make sure that it never picks out right.

That's pretty much it.

That's all you need to worry about.

So these votes are on Amazon Prime.

You can watch them on Amazon Prime and Amazon Prime haven't complained.

Right.

So all you going to do is you click and you drag down the line.

And as you can see the decibels are dropping.

And then of course when I start talking I want the music to increase a little bit if I don't put a little

point there if I just delayed that by hitting the delete key on my keyboard.

It deletes that what they call the K frame.

And then what sort of which is I want that background track to be louder.

So I hit my pen two credit points around here.

It's like drawing you pretty much like drawing on top of the rifle and you can see where my dialogue

finishes and at the moment where it finishes out the music to increase quite substantially.

Check in my audio levels.

I'm happy.

It's modest too.

I don't want to let it go any higher than mine is too.

There's a problem look at that now that needs to be mixed right back.

Because this not on we can't have that.

So I'll show you this last little bit.

And then you're done and then you can play around with this yourself.

So just before I start talking I want to drop the background sound again.

I pick a point usually around here I can even drag this little point and I can move it to the right

and then I click another point on my line and I drag it down.

Now if you want to get finer points you hold down the key on the keyboard.

This is super awesome and you'll get even finer graduations in the decrease or increase in the decibels.

If I take the test if I take the if I like the key on the keyboard watch this like it's just insane.

You know it's like huge graduations.

I do this all the time.

Hold the key down on the keyboard.

I just drag it down and when I do I need to like obviously fix this up.

I don't really what I want to do is click on this.

If you zoom in hold the key on the keyboard use a scroll on the mouse.

We'll use this here.

You see there's a little dot there.

They call them keyframes.

Click on that hit delete and then I'm going to do is I'm going to Z-man a little bit.

I'm going to grab this keyframe and I ultimately want the background music to just fade out to zero.

Right.

As you can see mine is 0 0 0 which is infinity really.

So as I play this back this is what the end result is.

Now the sound you can't really hear the background sound anymore.

So what I want to do is increase a little bit have a little bit more and then I'm watching my audio

output at the same time.

Let's play it back.

I'm happy with that.

And then the background music has faded off.

And then if I show you real quick what it looks like with the other parts of my blog it's pretty much

the same stuff.

Music fades in gets to this point.

I'm talking a whole lot about something.

I stopped talking the music the background music increases dramatically.

That's pretty much the basics of how I edit my audio in my Volks and how I mix my videos so that my

background sound doesn't drown out my dialogue.
