Hello.

Welcome to SBS Music Awards.

I'm your host Jun Hyun Moo. It's nice to meet you all.

Hello. I'm Cho Bo Ah.

Bo Ah, it's an honor to co-host this ceremony with you.

Oh, my. The honor is mine.

I feel so relieved that Hyun Moo, whom we all trust,

- is my co-host. - Right.

Please help me do well today.

It's an honor to co-host the ceremony with Bo Ah,

but also, it's hard to believe...

that all the idol singers, who are dominating the world...

as well as Korea,

are standing on the same stage.

I've seen a lot of awards ceremonies...

and hosted many of them,

but I've never seen all the top stars gathering like this.

We invited all the idol stars you love...

and the whole world is crazy about.

All of them are here.

You're watching SBS Music Awards...

with the biggest lineup in history.

First of all, the star who gave a fantastic opening performance,

Yu Gyeom of GOT7!

It was amazing. Where is he?

He's such a great dancer.

Now...

They're wearing red outfits. Wanna One!

You guys look great.

BTS!

And I'm sure...

that you agree that they're the top three girl groups in Korea.

TWICE! Where are they?

All right. TWICE.

BLACKPINK!

Great.

BLACKPINK. There are so many singers on the stage...

that it's hard to find each of them.

Red Velvet!

Oh, they were over there.

EXO!

All right. Many other singers...

are also here with us.

The biggest lineup in history is amazing as itself,

but also, you will see these world-famous idol singers'...

performances you've never seen before.

And the singers will perform songs in genres...

they've never gotten a chance to try before.

All of the popular K-pop stars gathered here, right?

I still can't believe I'm here.

It's too soon to be surprised.

We're going to sum up the trends of K-pop...

with the stars who set new records...

in foreign countries as well as in Korea.

We're also going to see dazzling performances...

of the stars, who lead K-pop's glorious days in the world,

that you haven't seen anywhere else before.

We will also see special performances...

that put the past, present, and the future...

of the Korean Wave together, which you can't see anywhere else.

That's right.

Anyone who loves K-pop can join us.

Everyone.

Are you ready to have fun?

- Yes! - Yes!

Are you ready to have fun?

- Yes! - Yes!

Then we're going to begin 2018 SBS Music Awards, The Wave,

in earnest.

SBS Music Awards,

- The Wave. - The Wave.

How did we feel when we made our debut?

- It's unforgettable. - I was so nervous...

that I couldn't speak clearly.

It felt like a dream.

That's right.

I wasn't nervous.

What do you think is the color or image of our group?

I think our group members are all heart-stopping boys.

I beg to differ.

I think our color is transparent.

I think each of the nine members has a different color.

Then should we say we have rainbow colors?

- Uniqueness. - Originality.

A monstrous rookie.

- My goodness. - She just said it by herself.

How do you feel about performing at the music awards for the first time?

There must be a huge stage.

I really wanted to perform there.

This is surreal.

I feel honored.

I'm excited.

Say a word.

You'll see why we won the best newcomer award four times,

and why we're called a monstrous rookie.

We'll show you.

I can do it. You can do it. We can do it.

Let's shock the world.

Come on, everyone. Silence.

It's our turn.

Let's go!

- Let's go! - Let's go!

(Gocheok Sky Dome)

(Gocheok Sky Dome)

My, that was amazing.

2018 SBS Music Awards...

has begun.

We started off with an incredible performance, right?

Indeed. From Stray Kids and (G)I-DLE to THE BOYZ,

the rookies who made their debut less than a year ago performed.

Please pay attention to the new wave,

the future of the Korean Wave, that they'll lead from now on.

That's right. K-pop is not popular only in Korea.

It's dominating the world.

What do you think made it possible?

Well, it must be the addictive melodies...

and the eye-catching performances.

You're right. The songs are great,

and the performances are the world's best.

- Absolutely. - So...

with such great performances and melodies,

some singers have overcome language barriers, right?

Yes. GFRIEND whose performances show their unexpected charms...

prepared a very special performance for this ceremony.

I can hear the male fans cheering already.

And I'm excited about this group's performance.

Depending on how they combine members,

the group comes up with a new concept and performance.

I'm looking forward to their activities for next year.

We're going to see NCT's performance.

I'm excited to see their performance as always.

You can easily see...

how popular K-pop is through dance cover videos...

made by fans across the world.

This group's music video and dance practice videos...

became very popular in foreign countries.

This group has been unusually energetic this year.

I think I know what group you're talking about.

The group has become a rising Korean Wave star.

We'll see MOMOLAND's performance now.

NCT, "Black on Black"!

("Christmas Present" by GFRIEND)

(Live at Gocheok Sky Dome)

("Time for the Moon Night" by GFRIEND)

Listening to GFRIEND's "Christmas Present"...

made the fact that today is Christmas feel real.

They changed the lyrics in a witty way.

They changed the lyrics of their song "Sunny Summer"...

and gave a lovely performance.

Today is Christmas.

Performances like Christmas gifts will continue.

This group will melt your heart with their romantic song,

the hitmaker, BTOB, will give a performance.

And another group will perform. EXO's...

special performance will also be revealed.

Wait. Have you ever heard the word "newtro"?

"Newtro"? Of course.

It's a new word made by combining "new" and "retro".

It means a new style inspired by retro style.

That is correct.

You will see a newtro performance...

that combines the past and the present of K-pop.

The idol groups who are leading the Korean Wave...

reinterpret the songs of the singers...

who made them dream of becoming a singer...

and perform the songs in 2018 style.

MONSTA X.

- Who else? - SEVENTEEN.

SEVENTEEN.

- And Wanna One. - Wanna One.

And Red Velvet and TWICE.

We're going to see newtro performances...

given by the popular idol groups of 2018.

[VIU Ver] SBS E01 '2018 SBS Gayo Daejeon - The Wave' -♥ Ruo Xi ♥-

(Red Velvet)

(Apink)

(iKON)

(Special stage by EXO)

Can I do it now?

In 1, 2, 3.

(Which K-pop artist made you dream of debuting?)

Rain made me dream of becoming a singer.

I found his dance very cool.

I think it was 2PM.

It was Lee Hyo Lee.

Her charisma left a strong impression.

I remember "Replay" by SHINee.

They are amazing singers...

and dancers.

Click-B affected me when I was in elementary school.

I can still sing the lyrics when I hear their songs.

It's S.E.S.

They are energetic.

I loved how powerful 2PM was.

Wonder Girls.

I used to buy a file...

of their photos.

I was a big fan.

(He was in the 1st batch of Wonderful, their official fan club.)

I loved BoA and TVXQ!

They looked after me when I actually met them,

and I was really happy. I wrote about it in my journal.

I once met Rain at an informal occasion.

I'm a lucky fan.

The members of SHINHWA were very tall.

I once ran into Wonder Girls on my way to a radio program.

When we took a photo together, I did the fan chants.

They might have thought, "What is up with him?"

I will be their fan forever.

(I will be Wonder Girls' fan forever.)

(Which K-pop song do you want to cover?)

I want to cover "Hoot" by Girls' Generation.

I want to sing "Sherlock" once.

"Instead of Saying Goodbye" by Rain.

It would be an honor to sing...

"Lies" by BigBang.

Their performance shocked me in a good way.

"10 out of 10" by 2PM is an energetic and fun song.

I want to cover good songs like "Again and Again".

"I'm Your Girl" by S.E.S.

For "Show Me Your Love" by S.E.S.,

we came up with the choreography and practiced it.

I always think that I will practice hard and grow...

so that I can be like the senior singers.

I think the senior singers would be proud of our performances.

("Dreams Come True"...)

(by Irene, Seulgi, and Joy of Red Velvet...)

(and Momo, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu of TWICE)

("Dreams Come True" is a hit song by S.E.S., a girl group...)

(that was wildly popular in the 90s for their concept of fairies.)

("Again and Again" by Shownu and Wonho of MONSTA X,)

(Hoshi and Mingyu of SEVENTEEN,)

(and Woo Jin and Jin Young of Wanna One)

("Again and Again" is a song that represents 2PM,)

(a popular group with catchy songs and intense performances.)

("Beautiful Pain" by BTOB)

("Miracles in December" by Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, and D.O. of EXO)

Thanks to the performances by K-pop stars...

who were active all over the world this year,

we are wrapping up 2018 in a happy way.

Bo Ah, you currently star in an SBS drama, "My Strange Hero"...

and "Baek Jong Won's Alley Restaurants".

Now, you are the MC of SBS Music Awards.

You work hard as if you are an employee of SBS.

You are contributing to K-Culture.

Your kind words are like a present.

Thank you. I will receive good energy here...

and make an effort to do better.

It's time to introduce the group...

that works as hard as Bo Ah.

Elementary school students sing this song...

more often than their school songs. In 1, 2.

- We were in love - We were in love

"Love Scenario" by iKON became...

a mega-hit song.

We will check out a performance by iKON.

What other performances are coming up?

You will soon hear the songs that contributed...

to the popularity of K-pop in 2018.

Apink will perform.

In the beginning of next year, Apink will have a concert...

and release a new song. Please look forward to them.

We will now check out...

a group that powered up to give upgraded performances.

Let's invite Red Velvet to the stage first.

- SBS Music Awards, - SBS Music Awards,

A performance becomes twice as fun when the audience sings along.

It's time for the last performances of Part One.

Time passes so fast!

- It does, right? - Yes.

Incredible artists are getting ready for Part Two. Who are they?

That's right. They are Wanna One, BLACKPINK, and TWICE.

BTS and EXO.

Part Two also has the performances you have been waiting for.

Shall we wrap up...

and introduce the performances that will conclude Part One?

to see these artists.
