bad conditions

in which they lived physical abuse,

In 2008, the Government of Canada
issued an official apology

and established the Truth Commission
and reconciliation to compensate survivors

within the framework of the Convention
Indian Residential Schools Settlement,

In 2022, a delegation of Indigenous survivors
and activists met Pope Francis,

who apologized for the assaults
“deplorable” acts committed by members of the Church
