so by hopefully now

you have your track that you're not so pleased with

but pleased with that kind of happy medium a little bit

you're making something that you normally wouldn't make

that's the whole purpose of this lesson

so now we're gonna try and tackle some lyrics

I was toying around with the idea of the lyric

um being on uh

the 3 and the 4 where this comes in

just mimicking that melody

in my mind when I was making

I was like maybe the lyric should be really bad

like LA LA LA but then

something kind of interesting popped in my head

about how things

um in life and just in general seem to

uh reinvent themselves and rice

recycle themselves and come back

like how there's like

this whole 80s music movement uh

that's happening right now

it's a music that was being borrowed from

almost 30 years ago

it's now kind of being recycled

and being put into popular music again

everything comes back around

everyone's uh

obsessed with the 90s all the sudden

they're watching shows like saved by the bell

everything comes back around

and when I said that to myself

it kind of um

perfectly fell on top of these chords that everything

around so we're gonna try that

I think one of the most uncomfortable things for me

is writing lyrics in front of people

and you guys won't

and you don't see it right now

but there are people watching me right now

so I have to write lyrics in front of them

so that itself is sort of uncomfortable for me

even though these guys are super cool

um we're gonna try and tackle that right now

um we have a very bare track um

and with no drums

and I don't even plan on really

tuning up my voice too much

or going too crazy on the vocal layers

I just want my voice to stick out like a sore thumb

which I hate

I love to put layers and effects on my voice

cause I'm very insecure about my voice um

so let's get to it hmm

let's start with the chorus

I think this lyric will work

so in my mind

it would be like someone saying like

one day you'll know that everything comes back around

and I haven't figured out why in my mind

someone saying that to someone

but it's someone who is wishing

in my mind this song is about someone wishing that

the time right now 2020

which is not an amazing year

we all know it um

they're wishing that it could be 2,015

which was a great year

we could all go to concerts

we could all go out to parties

we could all socialize normally um

everything seemed to be at bay a bit um but

maybe what this person is telling this person is that

that they don't have to worry

everything's gonna eventually come back around

and be fine

it's really good actually drag that down

no it's gonna turn my delay up a little bit

cause these are long notes one

it's now okay

now the second half of that

I was thinking of

like a very

very long word

that you normally wouldn't say in a course um

one day you'll know

inevitable kind of

it doesn't rhyme but like

there's some space in between the amount of measures

where it kind of tricks your brain into thinking

oh damn it might actually rhyme

let me just sing that everything a little bit better

I like that that

everything comes back sky get back

it's enough someone saying this to somebody

I feel like it's like my mom saying this to me

it's like it's like another way of saying

this too shall pass it'll all line up someday

never it's such a weird word to say in a chorus

maybe copy and paste this every

kind of cheating a little bit but

just do that instead simpler

like the most amount of vocal ooze and Oz

again I'm usually super super detailed oriented

I'm trying not to be right now

because it's what makes me kind of uncomfy

more refined

just a different way to say it no

so now we're just missing the first line of them

for Christmas I was nothing for

I I'd say roughly like this

very unusual for me to come up with these many lyrics

the main goal for me now because I have grown to really

really like this

this is the skeleton for the most part

and it's kind of a skeleton with extra legroom

because usually I would just feel these you know

melody things would like babble lyrics and nonsense

but there's some actual real stuff being said here

so let's just take a listen and

okay so that is the rough skeleton of the song

it's kind of like an upgraded version for me

and very unexpected

because usually I have a bunch of these

melodies just babbled out with non lyrics

and I'd figure it out later

but in the spirit of being uncomfortable

to get comfortable

I wrote most of these lyrics

in front of the camera crew and

and the production

which is something I've never done

and I kind of wrote something that

I don't think I would write really by myself

so that's very cool

so I urge you to do the same thing maybe

I don't know

maybe you can have like

a couple friends just like

play video games or something

in the background when you

when you make something

or just have a

try having an audience

when I used to write a lot with Ty Dolla Sign

who's still a good friend of mine

he always had his friends in the studio

because he's described it to me as

like performing

and you can

like feel the energy in a room

when someone likes something

they kind of

they don't even have to say anything

it's just their body language that will kind of react

in a way so

maybe that's what you should do

have a friend

or your mom or dad

maybe your dog

someone you wouldn't normally allow in your studio

in your creative environment

I think a good lesson here

is to not be too precious about things

um and you never know

you'll surprise yourself

and make something that you didn't think you could make

I certainly did that right now

so that's your next assignment

I urge you to do the same thing
