- But what about Daddy?
- Oh, he'll get over it.
And, by the way, could you ask him to get over me?
I've moved on.
(running footsteps)
(birds chirping)
- [Voiceover] And five, four, three, two ...
- Senator Weston, thank you so much
for joining us here on The Briefing Room today.
- Well, it's my pleasure, Rolf.
- Let's get right to it.
The latest polls show that the general public,
and even a majority within your own party,
have an overwhelmingly favorable opinion
of the Liberty-Levine relationship
since their appearance on the Sunday talks last week.
In fact, many observers
attribute your sagging poll numbers
to your poor handling of the Kissgate scandal.
Would you consider revising your position
on their relationship
and on same-sex marriage, generally?
- Well, Rolf, as I have stated before,
I bear no personal animosity
toward Liberty or Miss Levine
or the homosexual people, as a people, generally.
In fact, I wish them all the happiness in the world.
I believe that America is all about freedom.
That's why my ancestors came here in the first place.
Well, they weren't gay, of course.
You know, if they were gay, I wouldn't even be here.
But, uh, you know, I don't even know
if they had gay people back then,
except maybe the cowboys.
Did you ever see that movie Humpback Mountain
about the fellers--
- So you still do not support same sex marriage?
- I didn't say that.
Did I?
