All language subtitles for 7. Introducing Lightwrap to Add More Atmosphere

This is a Lightwrap Node,

and basically it's going to blend a foreground element

with a background element together.

If I've got this as our foreground element and I connect up the A,

it's going to create a Lightwrap with whatever's behind it.

So I'm just going to pick this constant way over here,

and if I hold down Ctrl, each little line gets a little dot on it,

and you can just drag those nuggets out to keep your comp nice and clean,

and I'm going to just drag these down here to be precise,

and I'm going to view this Lightwrap Node in the Viewer here.

So, right now, nothing's really happening.

In the Lightwrap Node if you click this button,

it's going to show you the effect that it's having.

Right now the intensity's 0, so I'm just going to slide that up,

and you see this is what the effect is going to be,

and you can spread that effect out,

and it's really cool because I can turn that off and

I can see the effect on my image,

or I can just see what the effect is going to be by itself.

So let's just balance this out to kind of deal with the kind of look of

the participation of the atmosphere that we want.

So it's up to you what you want this spread to be.

I like, this spread looks kind of nice.

The intensity is, the intensity's a little bright,

but it's okay to be obvious here,

and then I'm going to go ahead and turn that off so we have just this Lightwrap,

and that's going to be puzzling because you're going to say that

operation is available for you if you do this,

but it's a little more controllable if I do it this way.

I'm going to drop a Merge Node down, and I'm going to take what we just did,

and lay it right back on top.

It's exactly the same operation.

But what we can do now is I can take this Roto mat that we made before,

and I can use it to cut out that backside of the planet,

and it doesn't quite work too well like this.

So, the solution is to take that Roto, I'm going to Ctrl+C,

Ctrl+V, and copy it out, and now I've got a whole new Roto Mask.

So I can just shimmy this in to work the way that we want it to.

I think if we just move those points in, it's pretty good.

So now we've got that standard kind of bleed of the atmosphere on the edge here,

and in fact,

I think I might even want that to be even more bright

now that we've cut off the side, and give it an even bigger spread.

And this is just a matter of preference,

and then you can just go back into this Roto Node again and move these

points around to affect the spread the way you want.

So I'll come back in a second to show you what I did.

So all I did was end up moving this point into the planet a

little and I ended up changing the curve of this feathering

to just pull it out a little,

and I think that gives us a pretty nice result here,

and we can see what happens if we look at what it

looked like before the Lightwrap, and what it looks like after the Lightwrap,

and I think that's looking pretty good.

In the next clip, we'll just give it a little bit of glowy bloom,

and we will send this on its way.
