of Gotham City Museum,

millionaire Bruce Wayne
is personally supervising the placement

of the world-famous Maharaja Ruby.

Magnificent, isn't it?

Sure is, Mr. Wayne.

- Uh, what do I do with this?
- What is it? I didn't order anything else.

A statuette of the Penguin? How did—?

[Penguin chuckles]

It worked just beautifully.

- Worked like a charm, Penguin.
- Yes. I'll take the million-dollar ruby,

you take the millionaire playboy.

He'll come in handy as a hostage in case Batman
starts breathing down our backs.

[whistles]

[intriguing music playing]

Up. Up we go.

You know, this is one of those
disappointing moments in crime biz.

Here I steal the city's most valuable
possession and her wealthiest millionaire,

and there are no witnesses
to give me credit where it's due.

[henchman] Yeah, Pengy.

[purrs]

Don't be too sure about "no witnesses,"
my fine feathered friend.

This map should help Batman find you,
Mr. Penguin.

Then he can do my work for me. [purrs]

[narrator] Unaware of the treacherous
fate met by Bruce Wayne,

his ward, Dick Grayson, is busily perfecting
his boxing skill on the heavy bag.

[Bat-Signal beeping]

Wait, Master Dick. The Bat-Signal.
And not a moment too soon.

Uh-oh. And Bruce is tied up at the museum.

Try to contact him.

Tell him Robin will meet Batman
in Commissioner Gordon's office.

[heroic music playing]

[engine revving]

Of course I'm glad to have your help, Robin.

But the enormity of this crime
calls for Batman.

Especially since his good friend
Bruce Wayne was abducted by the thieves.

Bruce Wayne? Abducted?

That's right.
Do you know where to reach Batman?

Well, uh— You see, he's, uh,
out of town on a special case.

I'll just have to handle this alone.
Along with the police, of course.

Uh, I'll be running along, Dad.
I'm sure the Boy Wonder will handle this.

[thinking] With the help of Batgirl.

I'll start at the scene of the crime
and see if I can pick up the crook's trail.

Good thinking. I'll go with you.

[narrator] Meanwhile, the peace
and quiet of Resthaven Cemetery

is shattered by the arrival
of a copter full of crooks.

Ah. The solitude of the cemetery.
It makes such a perfect hideout.

Not a living soul knows we're here. [chuckles]

[meows] Wrong again, birdbrain.

By this time, Batman too
should know where you are.

[Penguin] Take Wayne down below.

We'll hole up here
until it's time to rendezvous with the yacht.

Then it's off to South America
with a million-dollar ruby in our kick.

Get the chopper out of sight, at once.

[mischievous music playing]

A heliport in a mausoleum.

My, but you're a clever little man.

I look forward to our yachting party. [laughs]

A map of Resthaven Cemetery.
I don't like the look of that.

[Robin] A circle drawn around this grave.

Hmm. I think somebody is trying to tell us
where the Penguin's hideout is.

Might be a trap.
I'll have my men surround the place.

If they find out you're closing in,
they might harm Mr. Wayne.

[Penguin chuckling]

Now, there's a lad
who knows how to make an entrance.

[laughs]

I merely mean to provide you with company
in your final hour.

[laughs]

Robin, are you all right?

- Boy, I sure bungled this one.
- Don't worry about that.

We've got to find a way out of here.

[Penguin over speaker]
Forget it, Mr. Wayne, not a chance.

I'm sorry you have to get yours
along with the Boy Boo-boo, but that's life.

Or I should say, in this case, death.

[laughing]

[narrator] What foul fate does the
Penguin plan for Bruce Wayne and Robin?

- He got away in a helicopter.

about meeting a yacht in the harbor.

[engines rev]

[Catwoman laughs] Not so fast, Pengy lover.

It's time to feed the kitty.

You felonious feline, don't think

Aah! Hit the deck.

Enough of this tomfoolery.

[henchman] What's happening here?

[Catwoman purrs] I doubt it, Pengy old boy.

in time for the fun, Batman.

Heads up. That catamaran is sailing
right across our path.

Sunday sailors,

That pilfering, pusillanimous pussycat
stole it from me.

- The Catwoman.

- We've got to find her.

That boat we almost collided with
is called a catamaran, or cat for short.

Come on, we can catch her
with the Batboat, easy.

- Let's go.

[Batman] Hang around a while, Penguin.

from a Halloween party.

[Batgirl] There she is.

[Batman]
And there's the tiger cat herself at the tiller.

- If she spots us, she'll make a run for it.

- Robin, into the Bat-scuba gear. Come on.

[purrs] Pretty good, eh?

The Penguin does all the dirty work,
and we wind up with the prize.

- [henchman 1] Yes, ma'am.
- [henchman 2] Real great. Yeah.

Keep the cat in sight,
but don't let them know.

- Roger. Wilco.
- Hit the drink, Robin. Now.

[mischievous music playing]

I get a million-dollar ruby,
the Penguin takes the rap,

the Boy Wonder is finished
and Batman is nowhere in sight.

[chuckles]

Did you ever notice how fast time passes
when you're having fun?

How about sharing the fun with us,
pussycat?

[shrieks, then grumbles]

- Didn't think we were gonna miss the fun?
- The ruby, hand it over.

Hmph. You can't be serious.

- Get them, men. Quickly.
- [Batman] Go, Robin, go.

A perfect time for me to leave.

Good show, fellas.

Oh, no, you don't, pussycat.

[Catwoman shrieks, then grumbles]

Good, let's round up the other villains
for the police.

for your experience with the Penguin.

where millionaire Bruce Wayne
is visiting with Commissioner Gordon.

[Gordon] Thanks to your
generous donation, Mr. Wayne.

My pleasure.

But isn't that a lot of money
to be left at the charity fair?

Indeed. That's why I'm personally
picking it up promptly at 5.

[narrator] But what's going on
in the headquarters reception room?

M— Mr. Bruce Wayne.

But I just saw Mr. Wayne
in the commissioner's office.

[as Riddler]
Things are not always what they seem.

[laughing]

Must have been The Riddler in disguise.

And this probably contains
one of his infernal challenges

- to the Masked Manhunters.
- What does it say?

[Gordon] "Riddle me this, Batman.
Where is the hottest spot in town today?"

I must contact Batman at once.

Uh, yes. Well, I'll be on my way,
commissioner.

[narrator] Meanwhile,
in The Riddler's weird hideout:

[man] So, what are these disguises
gonna do for us, Riddler?

They're gonna help me trap Batman.

In a very short while,
I'll have him chasing his own tail.

[narrator] And now, in the secret Batcave
beneath stately Wayne Manor:

[Batcomputer dings]
According to the Batcomputer,

the hottest spot in Gotham City
is the Gotham Steel Mill.

What would anyone wanna steal there?

Of course.
That riddle is designed to create confusion.

- What do you mean?
- I'll explain in the Batmobile. Let's go.

How do we look, Riddler?

Like true-blue officers of the law.

And I defy even Batman
to see through this disguise

of Commissioner Gordon. [laughs]

You see, Robin, The Riddler hopes
we'll be racing across town

- while he raids the last place we'd think of.
- Where's that?

Where a thermometer is recording
the biggest heat in town.

- Make way for the commissioner.
- Thank you. Thank you.

Your generous contributions will now
be delivered to the Gotham Charity Fund.

- [Robin] It looks as if you guessed wrong.
- What do you mean?

[Robin] There goes the commissioner
with the money.

That man is an imposter. Stand by for Bat-turn.

[tires squealing]

But— But how do you know that,
Batman?

The commissioner told me
he was coming here at 5. It's only 4:30 now.

- Riddler, they're onto us.
- Get rid of them. Hurry.

[suspenseful music playing]

Smoke Bat-Grenade, Robin.

On the way.

Let's get out of here.

- They're out of control.
- Activate Bat-winch now.

Okay, now let's deliver this package
to the police.

I can't understand it.

How was Batman able to see
through my disguise?

Oh, it had to be a lucky guess.

Well, it won't happen next time when I raid
the Gotham Track and Field Meet.

This telegram just arrived, Batman.

- It says, "Riddle me this, Batman."
- "Where is the biggest vault in town?"

Since when did The Riddler turn
to simple vault heists?

Thank you, commissioner.

This sounds like another deceptive riddle.

[laughing]

And with this mask, men,
our getaway is assured.

Get set now for our next caper.

I've got it. By "biggest vault,"
The Riddler must mean pole-vault.

He's planning a caper
at the track-and-field meet.

[Batman] Check. Let's go.

[heroic music playing]

[man] And from last year's winner
to this year's champion is handed down

the gold, jewel-encrusted
championship belt.

I'll take that, champ. [laughing]

[man] Cover all exits.
The Riddler is somewhere inside.

How will we ever spot him in this crowd?

Wait, Robin. Look. Over there.

Look how clumsily
that athlete is carrying the shot put.

- Do you think that's—?
- Tell you in a second.

- What—?
- [Riddler] The championship belt.

Come on, chum. Like this vault, Riddler?

[Riddler shouting]

Hold it, Boy Wonder. Stand back.

This hammer is loaded.

[Riddler laughing]

- [Batman] It contained another message.
- What's this one say?

"Riddle me this, Batman.
Who is the top wrecker in town?"

- Top wrecker? What—?
- Let's go, Robin.

[engine revs, then tires squeal]

- Where to now?
- The wrecking crew at the old Gotham Towers.

Then the top wrecker
would be the foreman.

Either that, or that man way up there.

[Robin] The Riddler.

Activate Batapults.

What—?

A booby trap.

[Riddler laughing]

Grab them. You Masked Manhunters
have thwarted me for the last time.

Take them down to a lower floor
and tie them up tight.

That wrecking ball is coming closer.

Holy tight spot.

[laughing]

In another few moments, the ball
will reach their floor, and down they will go.

Look out, Robin.

- Look, Robin, that jagged piece of pipe.
- I see it.

[laughing]

[Batman]
Hurry. It's just a few feet above us now.

[chuckles] The next shot should do it.

- We made it.
- Yes, but we're not out of trouble yet.

They're out.

But I'll still send them to their doom.

He's trying to knock us off.

- Follow me, chum.
- Right behind you.

What are they trying to do?

[suspenseful music playing]

- Hold them off.
- This must be the welcoming committee.

They're missing one member.

- Oof!
- Relax, Riddler. You're in no hurry now.

We've got a new disguise for you, Riddler.

Only this one won't fool anybody.

You— You Caped Creeps.

[both laughing]
