(Back From The Brink)

(Episode 29)

This is...

Where am I?

The visual spell master?

Immortal Zichen?

Taoist Zihuan?

The Taoist masters who had ascended to Heaven

are all here?

Lingxiao.

Master?

I'm relieved.

You arrived

right before my departure.

Master, why are you...

I don't have much time.

Listen to me.

This is Dark Phantom's mind's eye.

What you saw just now

were the 100,000 ghostly figurines.

Every figurine

acts as a vessel.

They contain

Dark Phantom's true strength.

Ever since I sealed Dark Phantom within my body,

I engaged his powers in a conflict

for hundreds of years.

In order to cut off

all of his connections with the outer world,

I stayed here

to seal his powers away.

However, over the last decade,

powers from external sources

had been pouring into this place.

Now,

I can only put the 100,000 figurines

under my control.

No other powers must come inside

and tip the scale.

If not, Dark Phantom will break the seal and be released.

By then,

no one else can keep him in check.

Master,

so, you were waiting for me all along.

I never waited for you.

I was waiting for hope.

Coincidentally, you came.

Thus, you're the hope of the Taoist clans and all beings.

Lingxiao,

after this, I'll turn into a kind of spiritual power,

merge myself with the seal

and use my life to suppress Dark Phantom.

I will open a path of escape

for you.

Take the path

and leave this place.

However, you must accomplish this task.

Destroy the Heart Protecting Scale.

Heart Protecting Scale?

Dark Phantom wishes to use the power of the Heart Protecting Scale

to break the seal.

Once you destroy it,

nothing else in the world can boost Dark Phantom's power.

Promise me.

Promise me!

Master!

Master!

(Lingxiao!)

(You must fulfill my request!)

(No regrets, Monk Kongbei, Diyi Clan. The past resentment, gushing out from the blood.)

(Souls wandering for lis, out for blood. Immortal Zichen of Zixiao Clan)

(Master Lingxiao, Chenxing Mountain)

(The Heart Protecting Scale.)

(Yanhui.)

So, this is Qingqiu.

Yunxi,

I've finally brought you home.

We were able to resolve the crisis in Qingqiu

all thanks to your help.

How's Changlan doing?

He took his own life.

It's over now.

However, even if we had dealt

a huge blow to Dark Phantom,

the root issue hasn't been dealt with.

It'll still haunt us.

Now, it seems

that only your spirit dragon flame

can get rid of the dark aura once and for all.

I understand what you mean.

I do intend

to retrieve my body.

Ever since my soul

managed to escape from the Soul Binding Wood,

I've retrieved my dragon bones and horns.

I still have two parts left.

I'll depart in three days.

I'll head to the place where my dragon veins were sealed away.

Where is it?

(Sanchong Mountain)

(It's within Sanchong Mountain, )

(under the Sword of Heaven.)

Sanchong Mountain?

It's the territory of the Taoist clans.

(Now, )

(the Taoist clans)

(are guarding the Obsidian River.)

(It's difficult for you)

(to cross the river.)

I have one item

that might be able to help you out.

This is?

This is the Leader's Seal.

It should be able to help you

cross the river discreetly.

You're giving me the Leader's Seal just like this?

I'm afraid it's inappropriate to do so.

It's not.

The future of the world

depends on you.

Right now, Taoists and spirits are at odds with each other.

A war will happen eventually,

and Dark Phantom's influence will grow.

I can't dispatch my people

to assist you in the war openly.

I'll wait here for your return.

Thank you.

Your Majesty, I'm Feng...

Mr. Feng,

Xiange mentioned you to me before.

What's the matter?

Someone's here.

Who is it?

Mr. Lu, come in.

The sinner, Lu Musheng,

is here to greet Your Majesty.

Get up.

I was a boorish and lowly person.

I was lucky enough to win the heart

of Your Majesty's precious daughter, Princess Yunxi.

Although I'm seven chi tall,

(I couldn't protect my own wife.)

Initially, I wanted to take my own life

to repay her for her love.

However, I thought of her homeland.

Thus, I brought her back.

I hoped Yunxi's soul

could rest in her homeland.

What is this?

This is

the scented hair pouch

I exchanged with Yunxi when we got married.

This is also

her only proof of existence now.

Nothing else

was left behind.

Suying, the sworn enemy who had murdered Yunxi,

had already been nailed to the throne of Guanghan Sect's leader

by the Spirit Dragon, Tianyao.

I was useless.

I let my other half down.

Now, there's no way for me to be happy again.

Although I had disheveled hair and bare feet all my life,

I intend to reproach myself and repent for my mistakes.

My life is the only thing I have left.

Your Majesty, please decide what to do with me.

It's your family affair.

We shouldn't remain here.

Tianyao!

Since Yunxi was willing to marry you,

that means she truly fancied you.

I won't kill the person she loves.

Mr. Lu, please get up.

Suying was the one who killed Yunxi.

It wasn't you.

Yunxi and I were in love for over a decade,

yet I couldn't protect her.

Surviving until now,

I'm no longer attached

to anything in the world.

Mr. Lu,

thank you for traveling all the way here to send her home.

Your Majesty, if you're not willing

to grant me death,

please allow me

to remain in Qingqiu.

Please allow me to protect

Yunxi's cenotaph for the rest of my life.

You're Yunxi's kin.

Qingqiu won't take your life

or chase you away.

If you do remain here,

you can live in the place

where Yunxi used to live.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

Princess Yunxi passed away in Yongzhou.

My uncle, Feng Ming,

was Suying's accomplice.

Back then,

I couldn't stop him.

Are you worried

that I might hold a grudge against Yongzhou

and the Feng family?

Your Majesty, that's natural for you to do so.

However, the people of Yongzhou

shouldn't be implicated

because of the conflict between the two clans.

Suying was the cause of everything.

And it ends with her.

You may go.

Your Majesty, your benevolence knows no bounds.

However, I cannot rest at ease without getting rid

of the remaining evil supporters.

From now on,

I, Feng Qianshuo, am willing to hand over the Flower Bulletin

to the messengers of Qingqiu.

I swear that the descendants of the Feng family

will protect Qingqiu for generations.

Xuelin,

have you seen Yunxi?

If we do meet again in the future,

will you blame me

for failing to take care of our daughter?

Spirit Dragon Tianyao.

I will return the dragon-scale armor

to its owner now.

The dragon-scale armor doesn't contain the Heart Protecting Scale.

Although it cannot help you become an immortal,

it can sustain your life.

Without it,

judging from your body condition,

I'm afraid you won't survive for long.

That's the fate

I've been looking for.

Suying

has been nailed

to the throne of Guanghan Sect's sect leader.

Now, I can finally

take off the dragon-scale armor

and return it to you.

Now,

I can finally be alone.

I can finally keep guard over Yunxi without any worries.

You're leaving

together

with Yanhui?

She will remain in Qingqiu.

I might only be able

to return after some time.

During that period, you...

I understand.

She's Xiange's good friend.

I will look after her

when you're not around.

Don't worry.

No need for that.

She'll do fine by herself.

I just wanted to say

that I joined the Flower Bulletin

under her name before this.

If you do make a profit,

please don't

forget about her.

When I'm not around,

she'll be happier

if she has money to spend.

Tianyao,

I can feel

your love for her.

But you...

How can you think that I'm someone

who steals wealth from other people?

Although I'm young,

I'm a gentleman.

Also, I'm a man of my word!

Regarding the profit,

I'll make sure she receives every single cent of it.

You don't need to worry about it.

I'm glad to hear that.

Thank you.

Don't you think you're belittling me here?

What's the most charming thing about men?

It's their integrity.

Mr. Feng! We're in trouble!

Mr. Feng, I was looking for you.

This is rare.

Usually, no one looks for me.

But today, everyone is looking for me.

What's the matter?

It's about my relationship.

You came to the right person.

I heard

that you got yourself a mistress before.

Xiange is pretty generous, huh?

That was in the past.

And I did it to seek revenge.

I was finding myself an assistant.

Besides,

I did it to provoke Xiange.

What do you mean by that?

Let me put it this way.

Whenever I hold a wedding banquet,

it's always

the same person.

The same person?

I tell outsiders that I did it to recruit intelligence personnel.

It's just an excuse.

No one knows who the person is with a red veil on their head.

I understand now.

It's always the same person?

Do you still have passion for her then?

No.

Seems like you're inexperienced yourself.

Goodbye.

Why were you looking for me?

I'm going to propose

to Huan Xiaoyan.

Do you think I'll be rejected?

Yes, I do.

What?

Although I don't know

how exactly things are going on between you guys,

I feel like

that lass

is still quite immature.

I think it'll be difficult.

Besides, you're so childish.

No lady is willing to be together

with a man more childish

than her.

You do have a point.

Wait!

Are you saying

that I'll definitely be rejected?

Probably.

Now that I've exacted revenge,

I feel like the Phantom Ring

is even shinier now.

I was looking for you.

What are you doing here?

Why were you looking for me?

Nothing.

I did it just for fun.

I thought you would leave

without bidding farewell

after exacting revenge.

I do plan to leave.

You're really planning to leave?

Why do you look shocked?

Now, I'm the Phantom Queen.

I'm a major figure that shoulders the fate of my clan.

Of course I have to travel around

and look for an excellent place

for the revival of my clan.

Excellent place?

Isn't Qingqiu an excellent place?

Qingqiu?

It belongs

to the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan.

No.

If so, I...

There are other spirits

in Qingqiu too.

If so, do you plan to give me a piece of land?

A piece of land?

I need a large piece of land.

First, I need to erect tombstones

for the late clan members.

After that, I'll recruit new talents

and teach them the ways of the phantom spirits

so that our bloodline can be extended.

From that moment onward, the Phantom Clan

will thrive for generations to come.

I need a large piece of land

and talents from all around the world.

You want a piece of land?

Right now,

I don't have the right to do so.

However, you protected me well.

I'm willing to bite the bullet

and take you under me.

You can be my aide.

In the future, you...

Stop!

I'm a queen.

You want me to bow to you?

I...

Thank you for your kindness.

But I don't need it.

Farewell.

You don't need to see me off.

What are you doing?

Why don't you stay here?

I'm the last surviving member

of the Phantom Clan.

I won't become someone else's subject.

Do you understand?

You're not here to be my subject.

Will you give me a piece of land then?

Yes...

and no.

Be specific.

When I'm capable enough

to rule over Qingqiu,

you can

be my queen.

That's what it means.

Over here.

There's a situation!

What's the matter?

It's something huge!

This time, it's huge!

Is it about the living

or the dead?

It's about me!

Why would someone

talk to me in that manner?

I was so shocked that I slapped him

without knowing it.

But I think

I went a little overboard.

I'm so frustrated and confused right now.

I'm so flustered!

Yanhui, you're experienced when it comes to this!

Hurry and think of something for me!

Is it about going bald?

I'm talking about marriage!

Marriage?

Zhuli said he wants to marry me.

Did Zhuli truly say that?

What about my hair?

Zhuli had feelings for you since long ago.

This isn't something bad.

Why are you so flustered?

I don't know.

I had never thought of it before.

I'm very confused.

Is there an issue with that?

I kind of watched Zhuli grow up.

If that brat

could tell you something like that

personally,

that means he's deeply in love with you.

I'm so envious that you have someone

with a deep crush on you.

Why don't you consider it?

Consider what?

Consider if you like him or not.

I've never fallen in love before.

But

I don't know if this counts or not.

You must think it through

before getting married.

It's a serious matter.

If so, did you think it through

before you got married

to the Dragon King?

We got married twice.

We were forced to get married both times.

I had no time to think.

But of course,

I don't regret my decision.

Anyway, I thought

it was troublesome

when you got married to the Dragon King.

Naturally.

In Qingqiu, we can only

marry one person our entire life.

Marriage is very important to us.

The six rites of marriage in Qingqiu,

matching, asking, preparing dowries,

cleaning, setting dates, and getting married,

all of them are essential.

And the nuptial agreement too.

I think it's pretty troublesome

to write something like that.

That's not required

in Qingqiu.

It isn't required?

Mr. Yan told me about it before.

He said

the Dragon King did so of his own accord.

(He did so of his own accord?)

The nuptial agreement is gone!

(Spirit Dragon Tianyao)

(Speaking of which, )

(I didn't even know what he wrote)

(in the nuptial agreement.)

(Excellence, azure)

(If)

(As well)

(Forever)

(Moon, kindness)

(Red, kindness, Forever, End, Morning)

(Prove)

(White)

(Forever)

"Today's the joyous day of our marriage."

May our happiness last.

In days to come,

may our love last eternally...

May we grow old together,

as the red string ties us together,

the flowers bloom and the moon shines.

We shall stay together

until the end of time.

With this as my proof, I, Spirit Dragon Tianyao,

am willing to lead my wife, Yanhui...

"-to enjoy our lives together." -To enjoy our lives together.

(Look at this dull man.)

(Tianyao, Yanhui) (He's better at writing than saying it out.)

Yanhui,

didn't you go for your hair treatment today?

Pufang did it for me the entire day.

Is there any progress?

Some baby hair did grow.

What is this?

The dragon-scale armor.

Lu Musheng returned it to me.

Dragon-scale armor?

That scholar, did he come to Qingqiu?

He's guarding Yunxi's cenotaph.

It seems like

you don't hate him.

Although he was the cause

of the conflict between me and Suying,

it had nothing to do with him.

I don't hate

this mortal.

Now,

he's just

a minor figure.

For her selfish desire,

Suying resorted to

all kinds of evil deeds.

In the end, she still didn't get what she wished for.

I guess

it's her retribution.

Now that you put it like this,

I do feel delighted about it.

Millennium Spirit Dragon, you got led astray.

It depends on the person I mingle with.

Why are you packing your stuff?

It was just a coincidence.

I was just about to look for you.

Open it.

I...

I'm not dreaming, aren't I?

No, you're not.

Look again.

It stings my eyes!

It's for you.

For me?

Wait,

where did you get so much money from?

Don't tell me

you robbed Qingqiu's treasury?

I've been alive for a millennium.

I do have some savings

under my name.

If so, why were you so poor back then?

You even borrowed money from my friend.

Fine, I got it.

You were just having a difficult time back then.

But you're giving all of them

to me?

Yes, all of them.

Don't you want to keep some for yourself?

You can keep some just in case

you get into trouble again.

I don't need them.

I'm fine as long as you're happy.

When I'm away,

if you don't have enough money to spend,

you can go to Feng Qianshuo.

He'll give you money.

He'll give me money?

How much can he give me?

Wait.

Where are you going?

I'm going to retrieve my body.

I know you don't like to travel around.

You can wait for me in Qingqiu.

Yanhui.

Where are you going?

I'm going to pack my stuff.

I'll tag along.

You...

You want to tag along?

But it'll be a perilous journey.

If so, all the more we need to travel together.

It's decided then.

This.

Take it back.

We can spend it together

after we come back.

Miss Yan.

What's the matter?

I invented

a new needle treatment for hair growth

that has never been seen before.

I thought we already completed the treatment today?

You can grow 80 strands of hair from 1 needle alone.

Really?

Try it.

Will this really work?

Trust me.

That Xifeng,

what did he do

when he was in Chenxing Mountain?

You mean my junior?

He's just an ordinary

four-star disciple in Chenxing Mountain.

How could you say he's ordinary?

He's not ordinary at all.

My junior has superb medical skills.

He's the number one healer in Chenxing Mountain.

If so, aren't you curious

as to how we got to know each other?

I'm not.

I'm curious.

How did you two get to know each other?

Let me tell you then.

Not long ago,

I crossed the Obsidian River in secret

to collect herbs in Sanchong Mountain.

Who are you?

Don't come near me!

Spirit, where did you come from?

Don't come near me!

(Pharmacist of Chenxing Mountain, Xifeng)

You...

Your medicine pot is pretty nice.

Taoist, the Chinese mugwort you gathered

was pretty good too.

You could tell

that it was top-grade Chinese mugwort?

Could it be that you're a pharmacist too?

Don't come near me.

I'm just here to gather herbs.

I won't make things difficult for you.

So don't make things difficult for me.

Let's go our separate ways.

What do you think?

I agree.

You can go first.

You first.

You first.

Let's depart together.

Okay.

Wait! You mustn't go over there!

That area is...

Didn't we agree to go our separate ways?

Don't go there!

Don't follow me!

That area is dangerous!

I only found out

that he came after me

because he was afraid that I might fall into

the magical trap.

When we were trapped inside...

You had a love-hate relationship.

After that,

you guys escaped.

Then, he released you.

And he didn't kill you.

Thus,

you fell for him.

Am I right?

How did you know?

Could it be that he mentioned me to you before?

It's a cliche plot that everyone knows.

I could come up with that with my eyes closed.

Hey, will I go bald

from all the needles you put on my head?

You were bald anyway.

It's fine that you think that I'm annoying.

Don't let me know

and never tell me about that.

If I find out,

I'll stick the needles into your head

harshly.

You're something else.

You're truly something else.

I wish to know where he is so badly.

I wish to see the people that he had met

and the conversations they had.

Those operas performed by mortals,

they always talked about lovesickness.

I didn't understand it back then.

But now, I understand it completely.

I miss him so much.

So, does Xifeng

like you too?

The fact that I like him

has nothing to do with him at all.

So, it's a one-sided crush?

You're very brave.

I'm here to tell you

that you cannot stop the hair treatment

once you start it.

Are you trying to threaten me

with my hair

so that I could bring you across the Obsidian River

and meet my junior, right?

May I?

No.

The land of the Taoist is dangerous.

I cannot bring you there.

Don't you care about your baldness?

You cannot lump

these two matters together.

Yanhui,

although I can treat all kinds of sicknesses,

I can't cure myself of lovesickness.

I know I shouldn't do this.

But you shouldn't

risk your life because of it.

Love needs patience.

You need to bear with it.

After all, you can only fall in love when you're alive.

Huan Xiaoyan,

didn't you say

that you want to leave Qingqiu

in search of an excellent place?

I'm going on a journey

to help Tianyao retrieve his body parts.

Why are you still in Qingqiu?

I...

I have to stay here for a few more days

and check the Records of Mountains.

Maybe it can lead me

to new discoveries.

Let me help you out.

Don't be a busybody.

I will go to

the Brush Sprite myself.

Xiange,

do you have news of Master

and Bai Xiaosheng?

Don't worry.

I'll notify you immediately

once I have any news of them.

The Flower Medallion is crushed.

We can't locate people that quickly now.

But you don't need to be too worried.

Losing your treasure

must be a huge blow

to your career.

Hang in there. The storm will pass soon.

You're making it as if

that didn't deal a huge blow

to your career.

Don't forget,

we share wealth and woe together.

We share the risk together.

What do you mean by that?

Who wants to share the risk with you?

Seems like you have no idea about it yet.

Tianyao spent quite a sum

for you to join the Flower Bulletin.

Is that true?

Yanhui,

ever since the relationship between the two realms turned sour,

the Taoist clans had stationed most of their forces

at Sanchong Mountain.

It'll be dangerous.

You guys must be careful.

You guys don't need to worry.

My father instructed me

to wait for the Dragon King's return.

If he's in danger,

Qingqiu will do everything in its power

to keep you guys safe.

Okay.

Thank you.

It's no wonder you told me

to ask Feng Qianshuo for money.

When did you...

I owed you too much before this.

It'll be great

if I can make it up to you

with these worldly items.

You call this making it up to me?

In the future, you don't need to hide your intention

if you wish to be nice to me.

Okay.

We've arrived at the Obsidian River.

Let's go and chop some bamboo.

There's no need for that.

Chenyi gave me this item.

It can help us out.

As long as I activate the seal,

we can cross the river in a flash.

Something like that actually exists?

There's only one item like that.

It belongs to the Leader of Qingqiu.

Let's hurry and cross the river.

Pufang?

What are you doing here?

You're so bold.

How dare you come here?

Tianyao, send her back.

I'm not going back.

Enough. Stop messing around.

You shouldn't be here when you're this weak.

Are you here to die?

They don't understand me at all.

I thought at least

you would understand me.

Stop pretending to be pitiful.

Do you think I'll allow you to go

just because of your act?

How could you be

so unsympathetic?

I'm telling you to go back

because I'm sympathetic.

I told you already. You can only fall in love when you're alive.

Do you know that?

I'll come back after seeing him.

I won't stay there for long.

Are you okay?

We mustn't let her wander off.

I don't know where she went.

Let's split up.

We have to find her.

Be careful.

Xifeng!

It's me.

What are you doing here?

Why did you come here?

I'm here to see you.

I missed you.

Do you know where you are?

Moreover, you're a spirit.

You shouldn't be here.

Hurry and go back!

I was always sincere with you.

Were you ever sincere with me?

Even just a little?

Although I didn't kill you before,

it doesn't mean I won't kill you today.

It's not too late

for you to kill me right now.

There's a full moon today.

It's inappropriate for me to kill.

Just go.

You're more stubborn than me.

I just said

that no spirits would ever risk their lives

and come to Sanchong Mountain.

I didn't expect

to see one today.
