Joseon Gunman

- Park Yoon Kang! - Shoot me now!

Park Yoon Kang is messing up my business.

Please make a request to establish the commerce department soon.

No one can jump into business deals without

the permission from the commerce department.

You must be upset, Young Master Yoon Kang.

- They're about to die from starvation. - It's already that bad?

The commerce department got the exclusive control over rice

so its price skyrocketed.

I hear you get rice for free in Mapo tonight.

Turn around the ship!

You shouldn't have touched Mr. Yamamoto's goods.

It just went back to the starving Joseon people.

Thanks.

Kanemaru!

Hanjo...

Leave.

Take your people and go back to Japan!

Hanjo!

If you're going to kill me you'll have to do it yourself.

You'll have to bet everything you got.

Park Yoon Kang...

- Arrest him! - Yes, sir!

What are you doing?

Let go!

What are you doing?

I heard there was a murder at the store.

So I came to arrest the one who caused trouble. Please cooperate.

Stop it. He is Japanese.

He's not someone that the police force can take away.

Once you leave the port, everyone's the same.

Japanese or Joseon people...

If it's necessary, go to the legation.

Call someone from the Japanese legation.

I won't take a step before someone from the legation comes here!

Take him away.

Take him.

Yes, sir!

Hanjo, I won't leave you alone!

Nice going.

You bet everything on Yamamoto, but he's fallen apart now.

Where are you going to lean on now?

Park Yoon Kang...

you're making a big mistake now.

Mistake?

I'm only taking revenge for my friend now.

[Joseon Gunman Episode 19]

Mr. Kanemaru...

What happens to Yamamoto now?

He'll be sent back to Japan.

He'll never be able to set foot in Joseon.

Things like this... will never happen again.

But this won't be the end either.

Your revenge is not over, so dangerous things will keep happening.

Mr. Kanemaru saved you this time, but next time...

If I ask you to stop everything now...

would I be selfish?

If I ask you to bury everything and live a normal life with me

would it be too cruel to you?

Miss...

I'm sorry... I felt so frustrated.

I'm so afraid and scared

that I don't know what will happen when.

I'm sorry.

But... I can't stop now.

As long as Choi Won Shin is alive...

So I have to see the end of it.

I have to cut off the ill-fated tie with Choi Won Shin.

It won't take too long.

I promise you.

We, as the Japanese legation, strongly protest to the Joseon government.

We request that you immediately arrest and punish Park Yoon Kang

who killed six Japanese people.

We're making a strong protest to the Joseon government.

We request that you arrest and punish Park Yoon Kang

who killed six Japanese people.

According to the police, it was self-defense.

It was Japanese people who attacked his house with guns!

Our businessman Yamamoto Shinji's statement is completely opposite.

But if the Joseon government continues to protect only Park Yoon Kang

the Japanese government will use all necessary measures.

Your Majesty...

the Japanese legation demanded a high compensation

when its building was on fire and its people died during the rebellion.

Japanese soldiers were even stationed in the capital at the time.

If this is covered up

I'm concerned that this will provide the Japanese a reason to attack us, Your Majesty.

Hide myself?

Yamamoto and Choi Won Shin plotted to kill me.

You know that, too!

There is no proof that those two did it.

- I have a witness. - It doesn't matter if he's from Joseon.

The Japanese won't believe it.

They don't have any proof other than Yamamoto's statement.

Japanese people died.

His Majesty determined that upsetting them wouldn't do any good.

Yamamoto exploited food from Joseon and handed it over to Japan.

He partnered with Choi Won Shin and put the Joseon people through hardships!

But His Majesty is still protecting him...

Whose king is His Majesty?

He looks away from the tears of Joseon people

so how is he trying to protect Joseon?

It really upsets me too.

But it could turn into a diplomatic issue.

His Majesty can't just take your side.

I'm here to see Her Majesty.

She is with His Majesty. Please wait.

Yes.

Why do you keep getting swayed?

You already made up your mind.

That you'd only think about protecting the royal power.

Park Yoon Kang...

We can't put this country in danger over one man.

Please make up your mind now.

Please arrest Park Yoon Kang now.

If he has to die, let it be.

You have to do what's necessary.

Young Master...

Park Yoon Kang?

The Court of Justice will make a move soon.

You should make a move before that.

Catch Park Yoon Kang and offer him to His Majesty.

That's great.

Now I can get rid of him with no worries.

Hurry. There is no time.

Soldiers from the Court of Justice will barge in here soon.

The order for arresting you is out.

His Majesty threw out his last bit of conscience in the end.

Brother, run!

It's the merchant soldiers!

Choi Won Shin is coming this way with merchant soldiers!

Hurry up! Hurry!

Go to the temple with Je Mi.

Go there and take care of Yeon Ha.

Yes. Don't worry.

Please run away!

- What's going on? - I came with His Majesty's order.

Where is Park Yoon Kang?

He's not in right now.

- Search everywhere! - Yes, sir!

What's going on?

Please leave!

What are you doing here when the owner is not around?

Where did Park Yoon Kang go?

- Tell me now. - I don't know.

He said he was going to the palace, but he hasn't returned yet.

There must be a hidden secret room.

Find him!

There is nothing here.

There is nothing here except me! I mean it!

I found it.

- That way. Get him! - Yes, sir!

What about Park Yoon Kang?

I missed him.

Send around a secret message to merchants

with Park Yoon Kang's portrait.

Yes, Father.

Young Master, over there.

- That way! Catch him! - Yes, sir!

- Are you okay? - Yes.

Let's hurry.

- Over there! Follow them! - Yes sir!

Not just the Court of Justice, even Choi Won Shin's merchants are moving.

It's only a matter of time.

This is big trouble.

I need to go see the princess's husband now.

What do you think you're doing?

Where did Soo In go?

Did she follow Park Yoon Kang?

I don't know. She went to the palace earlier and hasn't returned yet.

It's true. We're looking for Lady Soo In, too.

Please tell her...

Park Yoon Kang will be dead soon.

So if she hides him, she won't be safe either.

Let's go.

What on earth is going on? Just how...

We found Park Yoon Kang.

So where is he?

It's by Mohang Mountain near the city gate.

Soldiers from the Court of Justice are chasing him.

Let's go.

We're good. It looks like they didn't notice us.

Let's stay here tonight.

This place seems safe for what we have.

Yes.

- I fell earlier... - Let me see.

I'm fine.

I'm sorry. It's my fault.

You became a runaway, too.

Don't worry. I'm okay.

Please just focus on your safety now.

As soon as the day breaks, I'll take you home.

- Let's go together. - We can't.

It's dangerous to go back like this.

They're probably looking for me to find you.

But you can't continue to hide because of me.

But...

I won't be separated from you like this anymore.

I'll never be apart from you anymore.

Miss...

The Dark Gunman of the Full Moon?

Yes. You must've heard about it.

The gunman is popular among the people.

Is he Park Yoon Kang, the one you told me about?

Yes, he's the one that the Court of Justice is chasing now.

He's an important man that we absolutely need.

He's better than anyone in shooting.

To turn your army into a strong armed force

we absolutely need Park Yoon Kang's help.

Then...

Please send your soldiers.

I got it. I'll give an order to send soldiers and find him now.

Young Master...

Young Master...

Over there!

Chase her!

Where is Park Yoon Kang?

I don't know.

Say it. Otherwise, you will die.

I really don't know.

Even if I knew, I wouldn't tell you.

Young Master!

Are you okay?

- Can you walk? - Yes.

Let's go.

Are you okay?

Let's sit down for now.

Where did you go?

I'm sorry.

- Young Master... - Let's go. It's dangerous.

Choi Won Shin brought merchant soldiers.

It's Park Yoon Kang.

He ran away in the opposite direction.

Take him away.

Let's go.

I'll chase them away. You should go ahead and follow that path.

Let's go together. I won't leave alone.

Listen to me. Otherwise, we'll both die!

Young Master...

Soldiers from the Court of Justice are only looking for me.

So you'll be fine.

Go wait for me at the temple.

Sang Chu and Je Mi should be there.

Yeon Ha is there, too. Go there and be with Yeon Ha.

I'll be there soon.

I don't want to.

I can't leave without you.

I feel like we'll never see each other again if we separate here.

I feel like you'll never come back.

Don't worry. I'll be back again.

We'll definitely see each other again.

We won't be separated.

Young Master...

Hurry.

Hurry!

It's him.

It's a gunshot! Let's go!

Young Master...

What do you mean? Park Yoon Kang disappeared?

I don't know either.

I looked everywhere where Park Yoon Kang fell, but I couldn't find him.

Then did the Court of Justice find him and take him?

No. They didn't find him either.

How... You said there is no place to run from there.

This little mouse...

Where did you hide again?

He's not here yet? He hasn't sent a message either?

No, he's not here yet.

What happened, Soo In? Why are you alone...

What about Yoon Kang? What happened to him?

I'm sorry. I don't know either.

He told me to come here. He said he'd come to the temple.

We were supposed to meet here, but...

You're finally awake.

- Where am I? - We're in the regional camp in Gwangju.

Why am I here?

- Someone asked me to save you. - Just who...

He'll be here soon. Stay in bed until then.

It was you, Teacher.

You saved my life again.

No, the princess's husband did.

I only made a request.

- The princess's husband? - Yes. You met him too.

The one you just met.

He's in charge of the regional military camp of Gwangju.

Why would he...

You'll find out eventually.

First, stay here and recover your health.

No, I have to go somewhere.

I have to go to the capital. Yeon Ha and Lady Soo In are waiting for me.

Not now.

Didn't you experience it? The capital is full of soldiers.

Even Choi Won Shin's merchant soldiers are desperately looking for you.

I still have to go. I have to let them know how I'm doing.

You don't need to rush. You'll be able to get there soon.

So stay here just for a while.

You have to do something for me here.

Something to do? What is it?

If... I ask you to stop everything now

If I ask you to live a normal life with me

would it be too cruel to you?

Young Master...

Following your order...

I went to the Japanese legation and handed over Yamamoto to them.

I also have their promise that they'll never mention this again

once we catch Park Yoon Kang.

What happened to Park Yoon Kang?

His whereabouts are still in question

but the Court of Justice and merchant soldiers are looking

so we'll be able to catch him soon.

- You're doing great work. - Thank you, Your Majesty.

And... I have one more thing to ask you.

Please recommend Kim Ho Kyung who used to be an officer at Byulgi Force

to the captain of Jwayoung military camp.

Kim Ho Kyung...

Yes, I remember.

He saved me before.

Yes, he's my son.

Is that so?

He's an illegitimate child, but he is smart and trustworthy.

Why don't you keep him at Jwayoung and have him protect His Majesty?

That's a good idea.

We already have someone else in mind for the Jwayoung captain

so I'll recommend him for Junyoung.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

I'll go back to Japan for now.

When I come back to Joseon, let's finish up the rest of the business deals.

He's going back to Japan for now.

He'll finish up the rest of the business deals when he comes back to Joseon.

Yes, I'll be waiting for you.

While I'm gone, make sure to get rid of Park Yoon Kang.

That's the only way I can come back.

Don't worry. I'll take care of him with my own hands no matter what.

It's time. Please hurry.

So Mr. Yamamoto is leaving Joseon in the end.

Did you hear anything from merchants?

Park Yoon Kang...

Anyone who saw him?

Not yet.

Don't be too concerned. We'll hear something soon.

Park Yoon Kang will get caught after all.

Oh, and...

Ho Kyung will be appointed to Junyoung.

Let's take this chance to get to know him. Go there and congratulate him.

- He's still Second Vice Premier's son. - Yes, I should.

I heard from my father.

You'll be an officer in Junyoung?

I came to congratulate you, but you must be very busy.

Yes, it happened that way. It's an overwhelming position for me.

What do you mean? It suits you better than anyone else.

You should aim to be the captain of Jwayoung military camp now.

I'm sure it's obvious for Second Vice Premier's son.

So we run into you here.

I heard you're busy going to the palace with your father these days.

It's been a long time. Have you been well?

Yes, we've been well. But not as well as you have been.

I heard the news that you're very successful with your father's support.

Enlightenment and change, you were loud with your words.

But I guess you finally found your place now.

A traitor who abandoned the purpose for the security of his own.

I'm very ashamed that I studied with you.

Be well. Although your power won't last too long.

Girl, do you know how much I was worried about you?

I'm sorry, Mother. I'm sorry.

How many times has this happened because of Park Yoon Kang?

I can't stand it anymore. I can't.

I'll find a suitable marriage for you.

You should get married.

Mother, what do you mean?

You should get over him now and live your life.

How long will you just wait for him when he's always being chased?

Mother, he'll come back.

He promised me that he would be back.

I don't want to hear it!

I'm going to meet with a matchmaker tomorrow!

I can't stand to see you like this anymore!

Mother... Mother! Mother!

My lady...

Just listen to your mother please.

Once he was cleared of high treason, he was accused of murder.

I'd be the same way.

She's already going through a tough time without Lord Jung...

but it must be very hard for her with you like this.

I still can't. How could I get married to someone I don't want to?

Don't think too hard.

I hear it's good to live with someone who likes you for a girl.

As you live with him, you'll get to like him.

Just live like that, my lady.

Like other people.

One!

Two!

One!

Two!

One!

Two!

One!

I know that you're the dark gunman of the full moon that people are cheering for.

That's...

This is for the same reason.

It is to create a new world for better lives for the people.

The ones with absolute power can't even dream of it.

Slaves will be freed and everyone will enjoy equality.

We need your help for that.

I'd like you to teach your shooting skills to the soldiers here.

We'll form an elite unit of shooters for revolution.

Well done.

But the bullet will be affected a lot by the wind if your target is far away.

So you have to learn to read the direction of the wind and aim for the target.

Stand straight... and aim high...

Don't worry. I'll come back.

We'll definitely see each other again.

We won't be separated.

Young Master... where on earth are you?

Just where...

We'll create a better world for better lives for the people.

People with absolute power can't even dream of it.

Slaves will be freed and everyone will enjoy equality.

We need you for that.

Some saw people from the regional camp of Gwangju that day.

I wonder... if they took away Park Yoon Kang.

Regional camp of Gwangju...

That's where the princess's husband is.

Yes. It's the headquarters of the progressives.

Right...

In that case, it is a possibility.

Go. Go there and check if Park Yoon Kang is there.

Yes, my lord.

There is no time anymore.

If you won't do it, I plan to look for someone else now.

I don't know... what to tell you now.

Too many things have happened in the last few days.

So I haven't been able to think through about this.

By the way, why does it have to be a court maid?

If it's something to do at the palace, I can still do it now.

Not like now.

We have to find out about more confidential, deeper internal situations.

Only a court maid can do it.

You can't jump into it without determination.

You'll be given an important duty that you can't tell anyone.

There is one thing I'd like to check with you.

Sure, tell me.

If we are successful, does the world really change?

Does the world come to where injustice of the innocent people gets resolved?

Without any innocent people getting chased like Young Master Yoon Kang

can everyone live in his own place?

Yes, that will be the case.

If we are successful, Park Yoon Kang won't be chased anymore.

We'll create a world where no more people are sacrificed for power.

Everyone will be equal and free under the proper law that we establish.

That's the world we'll create.

You'll become a court maid?

What do you mean?

I must've heard it wrong. Right?

My goodness...

A court maid...

Do you even know what it's about?

I'd like to work close to His Majesty.

I don't want to sit here and just be sad.

I don't want to hold my chest out of anger anymore.

I want to go to the palace and carry on my father's wish.

I want to correct the things that went wrong, too.

You can't! I'll never allow it!

Your father passed away like that. You want me to offer you, too?

That enlightenment, new world...

Is that more important than life?

If you are going to become a court maid

kill your mother before you go.

I'll do it. I'll teach the soldiers.

Do you mean that?

I'm glad you made the decision.

I'm sure it's the work that you dreamed of.

But I'll start after I come back from the capital.

I have to meet with Lady Soo In and my sister.

I'll come back after I tell them I'm okay.

Okay, I understand. But you have to be careful.

Soldiers are everywhere.

To the palace?

Yes. There is nothing more to investigate in secret.

So His Majesty gave me the responsibility of protecting the palace.

I'd like you to come with me.

I don't want to.

I don't care to protect His Majesty.

I'd rather protect the police dog Bok Soon than His Majesty.

I'll feed her on time and clean up her poop.

- Look... - That's better than protecting His Majesty.

You saw what His Majesty did!

He abandoned Yoon Kang and took in Choi Won Shin!

That's enough!

I'm sure His Majesty is having a hard time, too.

- In my eyes, he's not. - Officer Han!

Anyway, I don't want to.

You shouldn't go either. Tell him no!

I've already received the order.

- Sir! - Once I'm given the order, I follow.

That's all I know.

You may leave. If that's what you want, I'll leave by myself.

You'll become a court maid?

Is that true?

Is it true, Soo In?

Yes, it's true.

I decided to go to Her Majesty.

Why, all of a sudden?

Just why did you make that decision?

I don't care to be understood by you.

And I don't want to talk to you over this either.

- Soo In! - Please leave now.

I have nothing more to say.

Then what about Yoon Kang?

What will you do about Yoon Kang?

Will you forget about him, too?

Can you forget him and still go on?

Yes. I have to.

Now that I've decided to become a court maid, I will forget everyone.

Was it such an easy love?

Was your love for Yoon Kang something so easy to forget?

What is it that you want to say?

If your love could be buried...

then why didn't you open up your mind for me?

Why couldn't I be someone like him?

You were just a good brother to me.

Although you're not anymore.

Since you went back to your father

you've become someone I couldn't understand and someone I resent.

So how could I open up my mind to you?

It's become hard to look at you...

so how could I give my heart to you?

- Soo In... - If you're done, I'll leave now.

Be careful getting home.

Bye now.

What happened to Young Master Yoon Kang?

There is no news at all whether he's dead or alive.

Yes, I'm nervous to death.

By the way, what's your Joseon name, Mr. Sato?

- You're from Joseon. - Joseon name?

Everyone... just called me Sang Chu.

Sang Chu (cabbage)?

I'm sorry.

What's with Sang Chu (cabbage)? Why not Bae Chu (napa cabbage)?

You... It's not like that.

It's originally Sam Chu. 'Three autumns,' Sam Chu.

My father went crazy over gambling and sold me as a slave.

That was in the autumn.

My so-called father told me...

'Spend three autumns.'

'Then I'll come for you after I make money.'

So people called me 'Sam Chu, Sam Chu'

then it became Sang Chu.

Then you became a slave that's outside of your fate.

That's what happened because it was my fate.

Seriously, my fate...

- Why are you crying all of a sudden... - I don't know. I just feel sad.

Je Mi...

What are you doing?

Because I'm just sad.

What if someone comes...

It's okay. Monks are sleeping.

- Yeon Ha! - Yoon Kang!

What happened? We didn't hear from you at all.

Do you know how worried I was?

I was so scared that you disappeared or you went far away again.

Where would I go leaving you behind here?

- Young Master! - Brother!

Brother!

What happened?

How have you been?

Sure.

What do you mean? Lady Soo In became a court maid?

I don't know either. I asked why, but she didn't answer.

She just said she came to say good-bye and left.

She said it would be hard to see her for a while.

Hurry up. It's today.

She said she was entering the palace today.

Mother, I'm leaving now.

Ma'am, she's really leaving now. Please see her before she leaves.

Leave! Do whatever you want!

You're not my daughter anymore!

Don't even think about coming here again!

So, this earth goes round and round with the sun in the center?

Yes.

There was an off-the-wall person like you in Italy, too.

Young Master, I'm fine.

If I can protect you, I'm not afraid of anything.

Young Master.

Where are you going?

Where are you trying to go now?

Is it true that you'll become a court maid?

Is it really true that you'll go to the palace and become a court maid?

Young Master...

Don't go. Why on earth are you doing this?

If it's because I wasn't around, if it's because you couldn't see me

I'm here. I'm in front of you.

So don't go.

Throw out the thought of becoming a court maid!

I'm glad you're safe.

I believed that you'd be safe.

Miss... Just why...

It's for you.

I chose this path to go in the same direction with you.

Stop saying nonsense.

How is becoming a court maid for me?

How is it a path to be together?

To live with you in a better world...

We'll be separated only for a while.

Miss, don't go. Don't be foolish.

I'm really glad I got to see you before I left.

Don't worry. We'll definitely meet again.

So please take care of yourself until then.

I'm sorry, Young Master.

You won't be able to understand me now

but you'll understand me someday.

We'll be separated just for a while so that we can be together forever.

So we'll definitely meet again.

When we meet again, we'll be able to live happily together.

We'll be able to live in a world like that.

Miss...

[Joseon Gunman]

Why did it have to be Lady Soo In? Just why?

She bet everything for you.

How do you plan to create a new world?

We'll punish everyone like Choi Won Shin.

Soo In will give up her life for Park Yoon Kang.

Don't trust her too much.

If the revolution is successful, it'll be over for us.

Where do you plan to place the soldiers from the regional camp?

I have someone trustworthy.

I'm Kim Ho Kyung who will be leading you.

- It's the post office. - There is a party at the post office.

- Post office? - I was invited to the party.

That's great.

Let's start. Let's open a new world for the people of Joseon!

I'm going to protect you again, Lady Soo In.
