It's a lot to take in. We've been here over a week.
Kind of blows when you realise you're not the only chosen ones.
The game consists of four challenges,
held within each of the Artefact's four locations.
We're not forcing you to be somewhere you don't want to be.
Meg! Bad luck.
No-one's ever beat diamond.
Me and my sister play a lot. I mean, we used to.
We'll never win with Meg. We have to leave, Louis.
I'm not a little girl.
The point to the game? To find the four who will save the world.
RAP MUSIC PLAYS
Over here! Come on! I used to love this!
It's for kids! And, look, there's no-one here.
They won't mind. It's a guaranteed prize every time, come on.
HIGH-PITCHED SOUND
What is that? Can you hear that?
This is real.
Sorry?
Going in and out of there all the time...
..it can get confusing.
I was pinching myself constantly.
If you get close enough, you can hear them talking to each other.
CHATTERING SOUND
One day away from the first challenge.
How does that feel for everybody?
Where's Meg?
I just think, now that we have all the groups together,
it would be good to talk things out.
Mal was a teacher before.
Oh! So does that mean we need
to raise our hands to go to the toilet?
If you have to raise your hand to go to the toilet, Dev,
you have a serious medical problem.
LAUGHTER
Why did the aliens choose us?
They didn't tell us that, Faye, just what we need to know.
If those things say we're special, I want to know why.
Yeah, me, too.
Is it true that you dated a dinosaur in your Alternate?
That's the rumour, anyway.
Isabel! I dated a mermaid.
The dinosaur tried to eat us, not go out with us.
We're not supposed to ask or talk to each other about our Alternates.
It could give the other groups an unfair advantage.
Where do we go...when we enter the Artefacts?
Oh, my God. Kai! Here we go!
Is it even a real place? Every time!
We should at least talk about it.
It freaks me out.
Dragonfly, you lot have had a...
..different experience than the rest of the groups.
Care to share your thoughts?
OK...
Um...
At the beginning, ours, I mean, it teleported stuff.
But it didn't have enough power,
so things would just fall back down to the Earth.
But, once activated, I think it sent us...it teleported us somewhere,
a physical place.
Where? Outer space, to another planetary system.
Louis! To where they're from.
Meg, don't!
Close the door...very slowly.
DOOR SLAMS
I just wanted some fresh air.
I know.
You said we could leave.
You can.
I didn't lie to you.
A colleague,
he missed his family and left.
A light from those things wiped his memory.
It's how they protect themselves, I suppose.
They take away any memory we have of them.
Do the other groups know?
All they'd forget is finding their Artefact and being here.
They've been friends for years.
All "they'd" forget?
You, Louis, Glen and Kaz, you became friends AFTER finding it.
You and your group can leave if you want.
But if you do, or lose a challenge, you'll forget each other.
I wasn't going to say anything about it!
You literally did! You drew it, permanently, on a wall!
Maybe they should know.
Know what? You two have been like this since we were last in there.
Well, we found something yesterday in the Alternate,
something that we weren't meant to find.
Keep at him, he'll probably draw it on a wall for you.
Where've you been?
I wasn't feeling good.
You OK?
What did you find?
A way to get some answers, maybe, about who's behind all of this.
OK. What do you want to do?
Just waste our time, playing a game?
Or skip right to the end?
Then we could finally get out of here and leave.
Leave? Hey!
You happy?! This jacket actually meant something to me.
I should have gone for a cube, but diamond was a lot harder.
Oh, yeah?
Get back here.
Sorry. Come on.
You should keep your group in order, man.
What's going on? What is this? It's good! We're fine.
Group leaders, hands, please.
Right, can we try and get through this in one piece?
Can each of the groups keep to themselves
for the rest of the day, yeah?
He was asking for it.
We're going back down there tonight.
You get your answers and we get out of here.
You heard Mal, I'd better go.
No, don't listen to him. What do they know?
They haven't got a clue what it's like to be in there.
You want to know what our Artefact's location is? Do you?
No! No! Dev, you know it wouldn't be fair on the other groups.
Well, I don't care.
I mean...maybe I want to help you stick around a bit longer.
What do you think those three have to talk about?
These things aren't tracking our location or doing anything sketchy.
You sure? We're sure. We went over and over it.
They're just fitness trackers.
What did you expect? Why are you so interested in all this?
I'm just trying to figure out who we can trust.
Weird thing is, the only data Greenfront are downloading
from these are our sleep patterns.
Our sleep? Why would they want to know that?
If we're doing this, we should go now.
I know you want to leave, but what if we stayed?
We could win - Glen thinks so.
We should try, at least.
Did those two get to you?
No, no.
Something happened.
I was at the Artefacts and I wanted to get some fresh air,
but then... We're not going to win.
Because of me? I'll be fine.
No.
Because of me.
I...I don't do this. Buildings and rules...
You're not listening to me, Kaz. We can't leave.
I won't make a week!
I need to get out, Meg. Please be on my side with this.
All right.
Are you going to tell me where we're going?
I think it's best if you just see it.
I mean, it's not easy to describe.
Yeah, it is.
We're on a spaceship.
Whoa.
Wait. So, up there's the Alternate environment
and this is what, like, behind the scenes?
Pretty much.
I mean, if our Alternate has a three-mile radius,
then this thing must be huge!
How do you know it's a spaceship?
Oh.
There you go.
Do you recognise it, the stars?
No. My Dad....
He'd have these star charts on the wall, but...
..we're probably billions of light years away from Earth.
Oh. OK.
So, all this time we were in outer space.
You think there are alien security cameras watching us?
If there are, maybe don't wave at them.
We need to make sure that we don't get lost.
So what's the plan? I'm kind of freaking out.
I'm a billion light years away from my mum and dad!
Well, we're going to find the aliens and ask them what the deal is.
We find out what they want with us.
Did we go round in circles?
Um...
No, this one's different, I think.
What is that?
BUZZING SOUND
Come on! Go, go, go!!
Come on! Hurry up!
PANTING
CARNIVAL MUSIC PLAYS
Where is this?
CARNIVAL MUSIC CONTINUES
Hmm. Cute.
What is this place?
I think it's another one of the Alternates.
Is there someone here? Who is that?
You stay here, OK?
Yeah, yeah, that was good.
LAUGHTER, CHATTER
How did YOU get here?
You can't be here. Where'd you come from?
None of your business. Did they enter through the Artefact?
No. That's impossible.
Are they real? We're real.
Your Alternate's a fairground?
Look, if Greenfront found out about this...
Who cares about Greenfront? Come on over.
Where's the quiet one?
So is yours just these rides and everything?
Are you the one who dated a dinosaur?
Why does...? I didn't date a dinosaur!
How would that even be possible?
Maybe one of the smaller ones.
No, it was a mermaid! And she was, like, 50% acceptable and very nice.
OK.
So, I mean, Greenfront aren't really big on social introductions.
This is Dev, Meena, Kai.
And I'm the one with the diamond on his jacket.
Want us to show you around?
Jay.
What? Things just got interesting!
SQUEAKING, RATTLING
SQUEAKING, RATTLING SOUND CONTINUES
Yasmin....
CHATTER
You lot just going to stand there?
How did you end up in a fairground?
Where's your Artefact?
Well, now, that would be telling, wouldn't it?
I love it in here.
We hang out here most nights.
In here, we can do whatever we want.
No adults telling us what to do.
Yeah, and all that stuff Mal comes out with, you know,
like "we're important"?
But, when things kicked off earlier,
he made sure we knew who was in charge.
Look, about the jacket...
Nah, I probably deserved it.
It showed strength -
you need that in here.
Can't trust anybody.
So, why do you stay?
I want to win!
I want to be the one who saves the world!
What?
Save the world?
That is why we're here, isn't it?
I mean, that's the big prize, that's what we're playing for.
We're the chosen ones!
I mean, if you think about it...
..Greenfront should be doing what WE say...
..cos, in here...
..we're gods!
Grace?
Hi!
You're not real.
I'm real enough.
I come from a good place.
This always gets stuck in my teeth.
Look at you.
I'm so proud.
I feel bad for running away, but I couldn't take another day with Mum.
I only lasted as long as I did because of you.
No.
You were always the one holding the family together, Meg.
Are you gonna tell them? That if you lose you'll forget each other?
Kaz, she can't handle this place.
She deserves to know what she'd be losing - and what you'd be losing.
Some things are worth fighting for.
Anyone in here can imagine things - dinosaurs, robots -
the trick is controlling them.
That's how you win - focus your power.
Which one of you was it passed the assessment? The what?
You went through the assessment, right?
When you first go in? At the end? The progress bars?
Erm, we didn't complete it.
The assessment is how the Artefact selects the strongest of your group,
the one who'll lead, who'll focus your energy.
Don't you lot know anything? Obviously not.
It selected Jay for our group.
Who got the highest mark on the assessment?
You?
You seem pretty cool.
No? Well, let's find out!
What, you thought you could just crash our Alternate uninvited?
It is a little rude.
What's going on?
HISSING
Hey! What're you doing?! Helping you.
It doesn't feel like it. Louis?
Hey, that's enough!
Stop us! Take control of it.
Imagine it's something else -
it's the only way.
I don't like this.
It's not real. I still have the burn on my arm from the robot, Louis!
That felt pretty real. Better hurry up!
HISSING
It's not real, it's not real, it's not real...
That's not going to work! We created it, not you!
All right! You've made your point!
You're giving in to fear!
You're running out of time!
Focus! What is it?
Take control! Change it!
You lot won't last a week!
Leave them alone!
GASPS, WATER SPRAYS
Would you look at that?
Think we just found out who your true leader is.
