(Back From The Brink)

(Episode 17)

(Ouch!)

(Isn't this the woodshed)

(in Tongluo Village?)

(Why am I tied up again?)

(No.)

(Something's not right.)

(Wasn't I in Dragon Valley?)

-Yanhui. -Yanhui.

Yanhui!

Yanhui!

Yanhui!

-Yanhui! -Yanhui!

Yanhui!

Oh heavens! Was that dragon mad?

Why did he want to kill Yanhui?

Don't touch her.

She's only going

to bleed more in this state.

Wait here.

I'll go and find a physician right away.

(Yanhui, )

(I won't let you die.)

(No matter what it takes, )

(I won't let you die.)

Suying,

are you all right?

I'm all right.

Activate the Spirit Binding Formation of Guanghan Sect.

I want to ensure that the evil dragon

has no chance of escaping.

(The great evil spirit is approaching.)

(Activate the Myriad Thread Spirit Binding Formation.)

(Senior disciples, stabilize the formation's core.)

(Junior disciples, retreat down the mountain for safety.)

(The great evil spirit is approaching.)

(Activate the Myriad Thread Spirit Binding Formation.)

(Senior disciples, stabilize the formation's core.)

(Junior disciples, retreat down the mountain for safety.)

He's here.

Myriad Thread Spirit Binding Formation?

This formation has not been activated in the past hundreds of years.

What kind of evil spirit

could have provoked the sect leader to use such a formidable formation?

Suying,

why has the evil dragon's cultivation

suddenly become so powerful?

When we were in Yongzhou,

he was...

It's because he obtained

the Heart Protecting Scale.

The formation is about to be broken.

You all need to leave the mountain quickly.

Don't let me and the evil dragon's fight

affect you.

Let's go, Master Lingfei.

(The power of the Heart Protecting Scale is truly impressive.)

Stabilize the formation!

Don't let the evil dragon break it!

(This wedding...)

(Is the day of your funeral.)

(Tianyao, where's Yun?)

(The power of the Heart Protecting Scale)

(is unexpectedly formidable.)

This strike

is for the innocent people

who died in Dragon Valley.

(The power of the Heart Protecting Scale)

(is surprisingly strong.)

Ma'am!

That's our sect leader's life star!

That's...

Suying!

Ma'am!

(Your Majesty, we're here!)

(Your Majesty, please save us.)

(We're here, Your Majesty.)

(Your Majesty, Your Majesty!)

(Your Majesty, please save us.)

(Save us!)

(Your Majesty!)

(We're over here.)

(We're here!)

(We're right here, Your Majesty!)

(Your Majesty, we're here!)

I'll take you home.

Let's go home.

Suying!

Suying...

Huan Xiaoyan.

Huan Xiaoyan!

Open your eyes.

Xiaoyan!

Where's Yanhui?

You're such a wicked dragon.

Yanhui was so good to you!

How could you kill her?

Do you have no conscience?

You heartless beast!

Tell me

where she is.

Don't hit His Majesty.

He did all of this

to save us.

That terrible Taoist woman

killed Yun

and took us hostage

to blackmail His Majesty.

That's why His Majesty...

What?

Don't hit him.

Hit us instead.

Tell me.

Where is Yanhui?

I can save her.

Yanhui...

Bai Xiaosheng took Yanhui with him.

Bai Xiaosheng?

Where did he go?

I don't know.

Evil dragon?

Frost Blossom Technique?

You're Master Lingxiao of Chenxing Mountain.

Where's Yanhui?

You know something happened to her?

Could it be

the seal of the Heart Protecting Scale...

Did you take out her scales?

So you're here to obtain the Heart Protecting Scale?

I'll kill you!

I need to go and save Yanhui.

I have no time to fight him.

(For Yanhui, )

(I'll trust you once again.)

(Master!)

Illusion technique.

(Yanhui, )

(hang in there.)

(Yanhui, )

(you can't die.)

(Hang in there.)

Shadow Gate, unseal!

With my life,

I humbly seek your presence.

Please rescue this person.

I didn't expect you

to have such a compassionate heart.

You haven't completed the task assigned to you.

Yet, you have the nerve to ask me to save her?

Don't do anything useless.

Venerable One,

this woman and the Spirit Dragon

are true Taoist spirit lovers.

Only they

can help you find the Ghostly Eulogy.

(Yanhui's Mind's Eye)

(The Millennium Spirit Dragon seems)

(to have a strong attachment to this woman.)

(This situation is quite intriguing.)

I shall grant your request.

I'm indebted to you, Venerable One.

Yanhui,

I don't know if what I'm doing

is right.

But I can't just stand by

and watch you die.

I hope you won't blame me

for this in the future.

Are you sure Bai Xiaosheng will be here?

Bai Xiaosheng wants to use the power of dark aura

to save Yanhui.

Dark aura?

Do you mean the thing

that made my lord lose his mind?

But

why would Bai Xiaosheng take Yanhui back

to this Misty Forest?

I thought

you destroyed the dark aura here.

(Why is Phantom King confused, )

(but you're clear-headed?)

That's because my true body

is still being controlled by someone

and hasn't been completely invaded

by the dark aura.

(Who is the person controlling you?)

Lord of Dark Aura,

a master of visual spells from Qingqiu.

Unfortunately,

I don't even know

what he looks like,

let alone his name.

(That person is from Qingqiu)

(and is an expert in using visual spells.)

He lures those who have lost control

into Misty Forest.

He tormented them

until they died there.

(The dark aura gathers)

(in the tombstones deep inside the forest.)

Can you still find the way to the tombstones?

Yes.

I've lived here for a long time,

and I remember every place.

Take me there.

So this is what the underworld looks like.

Tianyao.

That ungrateful dragon.

You heartless thing.

I can't believe I trusted him!

You can trust

no one

in this world.

Don't tell me you're Yama.

Soul messenger?

Ox-Head and Horse-Face?

Judge of the underworld?

Don't panic.

You're not dead.

I saved you with magic.

You saved me?

I'm still alive?

I'm still alive!

I still have a heartbeat.

You saved me?

Who are you?

-I am... -If you're not Yama,

who are you,

and where are we?

Why did you save me?

What exactly is this place?

Quiet!

That hurts!

Why are you doing it again?

Stop it!

I said, stop it!

Go away!

(Bringing someone back to life)

(sure is not easy.)

You're still doing it?

Again?

Stop it!

How dare you!

If you behave insolently again,

I'll take your life.

You

are Lord of Dark Aura.

Why did you save me?

I didn't have to save you.

But do you still want

to live?

Yes.

Tell me

the reason

why you saved me.

I like clever people.

I want the Heart Protecting Scale.

I don't have it.

Then use your hatred

to take it back for me.

I can't do it.

If you can't do it,

I'll get someone else to do it.

I said

I didn't have to save you.

I'll give you three months to complete this task.

If you fail,

you can forget about living.

(I suggest you not do anything tricky.)

(I know everything)

(you're up to.)

That's weird.

Why can't I find it?

It seems

this place is different from before.

We only have four hours left.

We must find her quickly.

What do you mean by four hours?

Yanhui only has three days to live

after the Heart Protecting Scale was removed from her body.

We don't have much time left.

Then

what do we do now?

Her aura

still lingers in the Heart Protecting Scale.

Perhaps it can help me find her.

By my knowledge,

I summon the spirit of heaven and earth

to seek this aura.

Let's go.

Huh?

Could this be

the gathering place of the dark aura

that Zichen mentioned?

Why did the evil dragon

come here?

(Weeping bitter resentment day and night, wandering souls with endless grievances.)

(Immortal Zichen of the Zixiao Clan)

Immortal Zichen of the Zixiao Clan?

Taoist Zihuan of Tiandao Clan.

Monk Kongbei of Diyi Clan.

The souls of the masters of Taoist clans

who went missing for a long time

should have been laid to rest here.

(What's this aura?)

(The hidden aura of the statue)

(behind this barrier)

(seems to share the same energy as the one)

(that suppressed the dark aura in Starhaven.)

(What a powerful visual spell.)

Dispel!

Master Lingxiao, your reputation precedes you.

I've been waiting here for a long time.

(This aura belongs)

(to a dark practitioner.)

Righteousness fills the universe,

and all evil spirits scatter!

(Master Lingxiao of Chenxing Mountain)

(Yanhui, )

(this is the only way)

(I can save you.)

Ninety-four...

Bai Xiaosheng. Bai Xiaosheng!

(From the moment you found me)

(under the thorny tree, )

(you've been the only light)

(in my dark world.)

(Now, handing you over to the Lord of Dark Aura)

(is a last resort.)

(Whatever happens in the future, )

(I'll protect you with my life.)

(Why is it taking so long?)

(I wonder)

(if he can save her.)

Yanhui?

Are you all right now?

So you took me here.

I'm indebted to you, Venerable One.

What are you doing?

Don't you want to live anymore?

Thank you.

Sorry for what happened just now.

Don't make me wait too long

for the thing I want.

Understood.

Come on.

Venerable One,

I've trapped Lingxiao

with your power.

Excellent.

So?

Have you found her?

But four hours

have already passed.

Do you...

Do you think Yanhui is...

She's still alive.

Dragon King,

are you in a state of denial?

I'm certain

that she's still alive.

Heart Protecting Scale has left her body for three days now.

If she still lives,

does that mean

Bai Xiaosheng has managed to save her?

But

since she's still alive,

why

can't we find her?

Could it be...

Yanhui!

Bai Xiaosheng!

Where are you guys?

Yanhui!

(Do you...)

Bai Xiaosheng!

(not want me to find you?)

Yanhui!

Finally, we're out

of that dark and cold place.

You only stayed for a while,

and you already couldn't stand it.

Have you been there for a long time?

Yes,

a very long time.

So long that I can't even remember

how many years it has been.

You're pretty pitiful too.

So this is what it feels like

to have one's life in someone else's hands.

What's...

What's that black flower on your head?

I don't know either.

I guess it's something

that Lord of Dark Aura gave me to prolong my life.

Yanhui,

will you blame me for this?

Blame you?

I saved you.

You may live.

But from now on,

you have to live under someone else's control.

How could I blame you?

You always showed up

at the critical moment to help me.

You're a reliable friend.

From now on,

we're now

in the same boat.

Whatever it is,

you saved my life.

By the way,

you mentioned

that there's a secret treasure in Qingqiu

that can free someone from Lord of Dark Aura's control.

I'll accompany you to find it.

What do you think?

Are you going to resist him?

Well, not really.

I just don't want to live

under someone's power.

I'll keep feeling indebted to them.

It's a meaningless way to live.

Aren't you going to seek revenge on Tianyao?

No.

I don't want to.

It's not worth it.

I've already

died once.

I've seen through it.

I've figured it out.

I realized

that there's nothing

more important than living well.

Besides, the Heart Protecting Scale in my body

was originally his.

It's good that he took it back.

We're even now.

From now on,

I don't want

to have anything to do

with him anymore.

I just want to live well.

Then

have you ever thought about this?

If Lord of Dark Aura finds out

you're going to defy him,

your life might be in danger...

No matter how difficult it is,

even if there's only

a one-in-a-million chance,

I still want to try.

Let's go together.

But you said before

that obtaining this Qingqiu treasure

requires a pair of Taoist spirit lovers.

We probably need

to find another pair.

Maybe not.

You have other candidates?

I'm from Spirit Clan,

and you're a Taoist.

Maybe we can try

to be a pair of lovers.

You must be joking.

But don't be discouraged.

We'll look for suitable candidates

while we're on our way to Qingqiu.

I'm sure we'll find suitable candidates.

All right, then.

That's the direction of the Guanghan Sect.

What is the Guanghan Sect celebrating?

Why are there so many fireworks

that they blow up

their monastery?

That's really reckless

of your clan.

That's the Nine-Tailed Fox emblem.

So it was Nine-Tailed Fox of Qingqiu

that blew up Guanghan Sect's mountain.

I can't believe we get to witness it.

Nine-Tailed Fox?

The fireworks just now

were the emblem of the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan.

Nine-Tailed Fox Clan of Qingqiu is so bold

that they dare to blow up Guanghan Sect's mountain.

Come on.

Suying killed

the Princess of Qingqiu.

This is revenge.

This is bad.

What's wrong?

The conflicts between the Spirit Clan and Taoist clans

accumulate over time.

Do you think they'll go to war?

Are you worried your fellow sect disciples will be involved?

I'm worried

we won't be able to enter Qingqiu.

(Stop by and take a look!)

(This doesn't look too bad.)

(Yuelai Inn)

If we want to go to Qingqiu,

we'll have to cross the Obsidian River

by boat.

But now,

the Taoists have blocked

all the boat crossings

to catch

(Boat Crossings) the Nine-Tailed Fox.

So it's impossible to take a boat.

How are we going to get across then?

See this?

(Boat Crossings) The river flow here is rapid

and rarely traveled.

Why don't we just swim across it?

Do you know what this place is?

This is the Obsidian River we're talking about.

This barrier was constructed

by the Taoist grandmasters

and the Great Leaders of Qingqiu of past generations.

Within this river, nothing floats.

If you enter,

you'll only die.

But if nothing floats,

why do the boats

at the crossing float?

Excellent question.

That's because the boats at the crossing

are made of Ganhong bamboo.

Ganhong bamboo?

(Ganhong Bamboo Grove) Ganhong bamboo is grown near

the Obsidian River.

The dew in the core

of the Ganhong bamboo

has a natural counterbalance to the water of the Obsidian River.

So it's not affected by the river.

Then we can chop

some Ganhong bamboo

and build a raft out of them

to cross the river.

A raft?

Don't you think that's a little risky?

Why are you hesitating?

You were not this timid before.

(Breaking news! Breaking news!)

(The evil dragon battles Master Suying.)

(Only seven wen for the answer.)

(Give me one copy!)

(What kind of news?)

(Kid, I want a copy.)

(Here you go.)

Kid, I want one too.

I'll have one copy.

Me too.

Can you lend me seven wen?

I'll pay you back later.

(Don't snatch.)

(There's enough for everyone.)

I want a copy too!

(I'll have one.)

(They battled out.)

(Did you buy a copy?)

(Please enjoy reading.)

That scared me. This thing talks.

This Flower Bulletin can talk?

(There's enough for everyone. Don't snatch.)

(This one.)

Is this for real?

The Flower Bulletin's news spreads

throughout the world!

It's trustworthy

and absolutely no falsehood!

(Come and hear about it!)

(Here's your copy.)

Let's go inside and read it.

(Here you go.)

(Breaking News! Revenge Battle!) (As the evil dragon arrived alone, )

(a dark cloud loomed over the city.)

(Master Suying remained undaunted)

(and displayed her dominance by unleashing the Myriad Thread Spirit Binding Formation.)

(The evil dragon made a desperate move to break through the formation.)

(But Master Suying resisted fiercely.)

(In the end, she was defeated)

(and pinned down)

(on the seat of the Guanghan Sect's main hall.)

Do you think

this news is real?

It's real.

There's Feng Qianshuo's

secret treasure flower mark

on this.

He would never spread fake news.

Then

what are you thinking now?

Congratulate him, I guess.

He has finally avenged himself.

That's it?

Let's get some rest for a while.

After our meals,

we'll go to Ganhong Bamboo Grove.

(Your life)

(is different from anyone else's)

(to me.)

(Yanhui, )

(you're a special one.)

Yunxi,

you died because of me.

I'm taking you home now.
