[The Trust]

[Episode 22]

Where is it...

Father.

Why did you call me here?

Jinyue, I'm so glad you're here.

Where is the ancient book you brought

from a foreign country?

Help me look for it.

I can't find it anywhere.

Dad,

what do you want it for?

Jinyue,

how did you get the book?

I befriended a warlock when I was traveling in the North.

He gave it to me.

I knew that you love to study ancient books.

So, I brought it back to you.

It's a wonderful book!

Why do you call it wonderful?

Look.

The book is all-encompassing.

There's so much fun in it.

Everything...

The interchange of Yin and Yang?

Right.

- Change of appearance? - Exactly.

And the astrology?

Jinyue,

a story of two people swapping their bodies

is specially mentioned in this book.

I heard of it before,

but didn't take it seriously.

But after reading it this time,

I found it very insightful.

So mysterious.

Father,

what do you mean?

I...

Jinyue, you often visited the palace.

Did you notice

anything unusual about the Emperor and the Empress?

Are you referring to the fact that

they've been married for three years

and have no children?

Don't be ridiculous.

I'm in a hurry now.

OK, Dad. Don't get too excited.

Don't get too excited.

I-I mean that...

Think about it carefully.

Is there anything strange

in the daily speech

of the Emperor and the Empress?

Think. Think!

I remember that

I bumped into the Emperor in the inner palace,

and he blurted out the nickname

Yu had given me as a child.

Le.

His demeanor was not as composed as he once was.

Many of his little gestures

were exactly like Yu's.

Instead,

Yu had some of the Emperor's aloofness and composure.

- Lord Xiao! - Yu!

- Lord Xiao! - Yu!

- Lord Xiao! - Yu!

You can't do this!

- Lord Xiao! - Yu!

Xiao Jinyue.

How dare you break into the Emperor's chamber

and call me by my first name?

Stop pretending, Your Majesty.

Unbridled!

Are you insane?

Yu would never talk to me like that.

I was such an idiot.

It took me so long to find it strange.

His Majesty has rested.

Don't be a jerk here.

Let's talk outside.

Don't try to fool me.

An ancient book from the North

recorded the interchange of consciousness.

Now I finally understand

why Your Majesty insisted on attacking the North.

Stay away from my wife.

Now you call her your wife.

Have you ever thought about

Yu's feelings in the inner palace?

You're in no position to call her Yu.

And her feelings have nothing to do with you.

Yu.

Xiao Jinyue, do you want to seek your doom?

Xiao Jinyun,

you are self-righteous,

suspicious, ruthless and indifferent.

What woman in the world

could stand to be your wife for long?

You're right. I am bad-tempered.

But Xu Yu is my wife and the Empress of Dasheng.

Don't be delusional.

Yu could be a phoenix soaring in the world.

She broke her wings, and was imprisoned in the inner palace for your sake.

Now, she has turned into this.

Do you deserve her?

It's our business as a couple,

and you should stay out of it.

Now get the hell out of here!

Yu!

Le.

Yu,

what do you want to say?

Go back.

I want a rest.

OK. Take care of yourself.

I'll try my best

to heal you up

and get your body back.

Fine.

Are you thirsty?

I'll get you some water.

Don't be angry, Your Majesty.

I walked through the mountains,

and went across the rivers.

But I couldn't find you anyway.

All of a sudden,

I didn't know where I was

or who I was.

All I could see was darkness.

I'm here with you.

Come.

Take the medicine.

I felt my body

lighter and lighter.

I almost floated up.

I...

You should take a rest.

Come.

Now I can't go to court,

and you can't do paperwork.

Uncle...

Will he come to kill us?

Doctor Li said,

seasonal fruit

is very good for your health.

Come.

I've told you many times

that you shouldn't run around.

Why didn't you listen to me?

Yu,

rest assured.

I will definitely heal you.

Is Jiang Tang back?

How can you heal me

if he's not back?

Go, Jiang Tang.

And all of you.

Go! All of you!

None of you listened to me!

Go away, all of you!

Calm. Calm.

Call the doctor!

What's going on with His Majesty?

Forgive me, Your Highness.

The will and body of His Majesty

have been intruding on each other.

His Majesty is frequently hysterical and has a disturbed pulse.

The medicine can calm his mind,

but it cannot stop the body

from weakening day by day.

I...

I'm afraid...

What?

that His Majesty could last for only a few days.

Waste!

Forgive me, Your Highness.

Your Majesty!

Your Highness, something's wrong.

What happened?

Hengshan Duke is making a fuss outside with other officials.

Xiaoyao Duke can barely hold it.

Take a look, Duke.

No hurry.

Jinming,

check out the document.

It's about hundreds of thousands of people's lives in a county.

It's a top emergency!

And this is

second emergency!

Jinming,

is this too much work for you?

How about this?

Let me help you.

Duke, is the condition of His Majesty that serious?

Is it?

Political affairs cannot be left unattended.

He's right.

Take a look. It's a top emergency.

It can't be delayed.

Brother!

I can't take it on my own.

Take a look. It's a top emergency.

The Empress is coming.

Your Highness.

You may rise.

Your Highness,

we're very worried about

the condition of His Majesty.

Hengshan Duke, His Majesty was ill

and Xiaoyao Duke was ordered to be regent.

Is there something wrong with it?

There are many matters in the court

that needs to be approved

by the Emperor himself.

For example, Xiaoyao Duke

has not yet reviewed the memos from officials.

The work of various departments

cannot start.

That's right.

Jinming is young and playful.

And His Majesty is not well.

How about letting me be the regent?

Does Uncle mean that

sons of the former emperor

are all useless?

Your Majesty.

I dare not.

You can rest assured.

I'll finish the paperwork today

to put you at ease.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Duke,

are we just going back?

Don't rush. The fire should be lit slowly.

Recently there have been many officials

dissatisfied with this.

So much paperwork

backlog in just two days.

They write a few sentences usually,

but such a lot of words now.

Are these the memos from Hengshan Duke and Zhenbei Marquis?

Yes, Your Majesty.

Th-They must have done it on purpose.

Each has a thick book of paperwork

written in small, fly-headed letters.

They're taking advantage of the fact

that the Empress is very ill

and I don't have time for anything else.

Exactly.

Wudu,

pass on my word.

A cat broke in and knocked over the inkstone.

Tell the officials to re-transcribe their memos and submit them again.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Wait. Tell them to submit two copies

in case they're stained again.

These are folk remedies.

You can check them out.

Lord Xiao, though there are many prescriptions,

none of them is right.

Well, put them there, then.

Doctor,

how's His Majesty's condition?

Please forgive me.

I don't dare to comment on

His Majesty's condition.

I have snow lotus from the ice fields of the far north.

Is it helpful for His Majesty?

Snow lotus is a rare tonic.

I have only seen it in ancient books.

Maybe

we can give it a try.

Great!

Now there is much discontent in the court.

Such an unstable time.

The worst is, the life of the Empress

hangs in the balance.

Xu Youran, what if...

what if the Empress cannot survive?

Will the Emperor also...

They are connected in consciousness.

One corpse, two lives.

In fact,

there is one last solution.

What is it? Tell me.

Senior Doctor Jiang

once made a potion called the soul breaker.

Maybe it works.

What is the soul breaker?

It's made from the bird droppings in the mountains.

Cook a hundred catty of bird droppings in the copper pot

to make it concentrated into a spoonful.

And a spoonful must be refined into a pinch.

The pinch needs to be fried, calcined and smoked

to make this poison.

What happens when you take it?

After a day,

there's no cure.

However,

a man's consciousness will disappear.

And the consciousness of the other person will go back to his own body.

In other words,

if the Empress takes it now,

her spirit will disappear.

Then, the spirit of the Emperor will come back.

So that the Emperor won't die.

Exactly.

B-But if the Empress takes it...

That is the reason why I dare not say it.

Yu.

I have a lot to say to you.

I do, too.

Le,

I know that you have a true love for me.

I've always remembered your kindness to me

since I was a child.

But

I've always thought of you

as a lifelong friend.

I know that.

The doctor wouldn't disclose your condition.

I was really worried.

But I didn't know what to do.

I know you're Hengshan Duke's son.

And I also know that

Hengshan Duke may not return to his feud this time.

But I hope

you can remain kind-hearted.

Don't do any harm to Dasheng

and His Majesty.

Assist His Majesty properly.

Yu,

why do you say that?

Xiao Jinyue,

you must promise me.

OK. I'll promise you everything.

We grew up together.

I hope you'll always

keep our friendship in your mind.

Yu,

no matter what happens outside,

I only care about you.

I'll find a way to heal you.

I'm tired.

Go back to have a rest.

You should go back.

You're not well.

Don't always walk around.

Your Majesty, Your Highness.

This is the tranquilizing soup made by Doctor Li

from snow lotus of the ice field.

You may leave first.

Yes.

I want no more medicine.

I want wine.

I still remember when I married you,

the rituals were cumbersome.

We had the ritual of exchanging our cups.

But we didn't drink it up with joy.

I really want to

have cross-cupped wine with you,

just like ordinary couples.

That's simple.

When you get better,

I can drink with you for three days.

I'll never get better.

Don't talk nonsense.

I'll cure you.

I took the soul breaker.

We can swap our bodies back tomorrow.

How did you know about the soul breaker?

Did Diviner...

No.

I stole it on my own.

I don't need you to sacrifice

to solve the immediate dilemma.

The kingdom must not be left without a master.

Brother may have found Senior Doctor Jiang.

Maybe he's on the way home.

There will be an eclipse a few days later.

As long as we can wait--

Hengshan Duke is keeping his eyes on you.

Now we can't find Jiang Tang,

and we don't know if he's dead or alive.

You can wait.

Can your kingdom afford to wait?

But you can't just--

I'm the Empress of Dasheng.

I would do this

for Dasheng's prosperity and the people of Dasheng.

Yu.

I'll go to find the diviner.

- I'll let him... - Your Majesty.

Do you remember the wish I made

on Mother's birthday at Zhaixing Pavilion?

May we love, know and keep each other

as an ordinary couple.

Let this fool's wish come true.

I didn't

protect you well.

But we still have a little time.

Can you spend some time with me?

Can you spend a day

Two bowls of noodles with meat sauce.

And a side dish.

OK. Wait a minute.

Why are you smiling?

You must not have been there before.

This is the Northern Street,

the place common people live in Jing'an.

The first time I came here for noodles,

Jinming brought me here.

The noodles for you.

There is much more meat sauce than last autumn.

Of course.

Thanks to His Majesty.

We won the war against the North.

And taxes were reduced.

Our life will be so much better afterwards.

Enjoy your meal.

I'll go to serve the other tables.

Yummy.

I was foolishly confused about the relationship

between the taxes and the people.

These people suffered for a year.

How is it?

A little spicy.

Brother. Sister.

The house is in your hands.

Then I'll go first.

Come back when you have time.

OK.

Brother.

The house cost me 300 taels of silver.

When you go back, remember to reimburse your cute and diligent brother!

H-Have a rest.

Stop working.

Come and see what I bought.

Honey, guess what this is.

For the fire.

Wrong. These are my horns.

Just kidding.

The women in the city use this to slim their faces.

Aren't you curious about that?

It's wine.

Open and smell it.

Is there a smell of woods?

This is river water.

Why do you need river water?

I don't know.

But buy three, you get one free.

I think it's a loss not to buy it.

And this.

Guess what it is.

A little hammer.

Hammer?

What can a hammer do here?

It can smash walnuts.

You won't finish a few walnuts in a year.

Nonsense.

I bought a lot this time.

You spendthrift fool.

Come on. Give my wallet back to me.

Don't take the money.

Take my life.

It's itchy.

Let's go.

I'll show you something.

So cute.

It's for you.

Did they give birth to those lambs?

Yes, they did. Are the lambs cute?

Look at this one. It looks like Jinming.

Time for milk.

I want milk, too, Your Majesty.

Look, Your Majesty. Jinming is thirsty.

♫ The wind and snow were not heavy enough ♫

♫ I can't grow old with you♫

♫ The hair at my temples was soaked ♫

♫ The falling snow wouldn't melt ♫

♫ The world is too big ♫

♫ And our vows are hard to discern ♫

♫ I am not a fool ♫

♫ I am just walking to you in the snow ♫

♫ When the snowdrift collapses ♫

Xu Yu,

thank you.

Me?

I've never been more at ease.

You're the Emperor.

You have no time to be at ease.

We lived like an ordinary couple,

and I realized that

I didn't seem to like the regular life of the inner palace.

I never thought that

Your Majesty was so eager to be free.

But I need to protect

the people and the causes I love.

I will definitely protect you.

Hubby.

I'm hungry.

Can you cook a meal for me?

I mean something else.

It looks delicious.

Your face is stained.

You are so bad.

Honey.

You don't have to be so touched.

No.

It's too salty.

Can you open your eyes?

It's all right.

Not many people have had the chicken soup

made with the Emperor's own hands since the dawn of time.

If you really like it,

I'll make it for you every day.

That is...

not necessary.

Who is so wicked!

Who stole my freshly slaughtered chicken for the stew?

Here's a family of weasels moving in!

W-W-

W-Weasels?

Eh...

Who are you calling weasels?

Those who stole my chicken

are weasels!

I didn't steal it, fat lady.

I borrowed it.

Tomorrow, I will buy you another one at the market, OK?

Who's fat?

Who are you calling fat?

Look at your withered and shabby appearance!

Am I fat?

Get a comment!

What's up, fat lady?

Do you think I'm fat?

I'm just... a little fat.

Oh sis,

I think

you must have misunderstood.

We've just moved in recently.

And we were too hungry.

So, we borrowed a chicken from you.

What about this?

Is this hammer worth the chicken?

This gentleman has a point here.

Forget it.

Take the chicken

as a greeting gift for you.

That's a lot of trouble for you.

Not at all.

Tell me when you want more chicken.

Sis.

Well... Just tell me

when you need chicken.

Be careful.

You don't even spare the fat lady?

Well...

Jinming taught me that.

I'm so angry.

Even Uncle wouldn't dare talk to me like that.

Take it easy.

Calm down.

Let's hit Uncle with this hammer.

Let's go.

Go home to eat pickles.

His Majesty is now deranged.

How about...

No hurry.

If we step in now,

we'll expose ourselves

and set ourselves on fire.

Wait for a couple of days.

Duke is very insightful.

As for Qingyun Village,

Yunyang Earl is arranging as planned.

Marquis,

the destiny of Hengshan Duke's lineage

is in your hands.

Duke, I have no second thoughts.

I'm absolutely loyal to you,

unlike the old guy Xu Ding.

Duke intended to recruit him,

but he didn't appreciate it.

Let's just wait and see.

Your Majesty,

do people have an afterlife?

They must have.

You're just fooling me.

You fool.

When did I ever lie to you?

I've never regretted marrying you.

Yu,

there might be a pity in our marriage.

But I don't regret it.

I just wish that I could understand you earlier.

It's also a pity for me

that I've never truly understood you earlier.

We wasted a lot of time that should be happy.

I used to think

that I should stabilize the court

before doting on my lady.

But there's no such thing as priorities in love.

Stop drinking.

You mustn't drink anymore.

Your hand is cold.

She's drunk.

What took you so long?

She drank too much.

No one could stop her.

Take care of her.

- I've got something to do. - Go, then.

Bye.

Bye.

Xu Yu.

Xu Yu.

Why did you drink so much?

Isn't this my favorite guy?

Why are your hands so cold?

On our wedding day,

you carried me on your back into our house.

You told me that,

about the married life that doesn't exist even in fairy tales,

you could write it down with determination, confidence and romance.

I often feel

as if we were married yesterday.

Is it because

I keep thinking the way I did in the beginning

that you are disappointed in our married life?

♫ Lend me a little bit of luck so I can meet you ♫

♫ Lend me a little tacit understanding so I can be very happy ♫

♫ Lend me a little longing and give it back to you double ♫

♫ It's so close but I'm not sure about it ♫

♫ It has been detected by you (me) ♫

♫ Please don't complain about my dullness ♫

♫ Luckily, the Love Lord doesn't mind it ♫
