Love a Lifetime

Episode 5

I'm the one you hate.

Why do you vent your anger on these river lanterns?

At first, just to relieve your worries,

I lit all these river lanterns.

It feels so ridiculous now.

I overlooked it.

In some places,

the river lantern is also for honoring the souls of the dead.

It seems that the story I told you last time

comes in handy now.

Just with something touched on lightly,

Master Rong doubts the relationship between me and Mo Huan.

Does it

make you feel good?

How about you?

Have you already decided to be the master of the hall?

And I, Lu Yizhou,

am just an insignificant passerby to you?

I don't know.

In all my life,

I only killed people, never saved one.

Maybe from the beginning,

it was laughable for me to fight to be the master of

the Hall of Life.

It's just that over the past ten years, I've been too desperate,

so I could only seek this hint of hope absurdly.

The only accident in the process

is you.

If you want something to blame, blame yourself for trusting a wrong person.

I know it.

You have been stalking me for days.

But with your personality, you're not capable of apologizing.

Nevertheless, I'm not a man of magnanimity.

Today, I just want to tell you

no matter how sad you are,

it'll be none of my business.

You and I will be like strangers from now on.

Hypocrite.

Hypocrisy is better than self-deception.

I'm just afraid someone has failed so much sincerity that

she can't find even a person

who is willing to be hypocritical to her forever.

After getting through Mr. Mei's Plum Tree Forest Formation,

your family's plum tree forest was burned a lot.

Later, I will apologize to him personally.

If it weren't for your great improvision,

we couldn't have escaped the guards at the front gate.

But I'm really impressed this time.

People from Lingxu Pavilion

do have extraordinary ways of doing things.

For Mrs. Lin's invitation for you to visit Lingxu Pavilion,

it shouldn't have been this risky.

But only this way can we avoid the Mei family

from openly engaging Lingxu Pavilion in the fight.

I hope you can forgive me.

Never mind.

If it weren't for your good considerations,

we would have been caught by my brother.

Let's go faster. We must get back to Lingxu Pavilion today.

Yes.

Ma'am, I've had the message about Lingxu Pavilion sent out.

I believe Supreme Master will receive it soon.

For a lady as beautiful as you are,

the investigation into the matter of Lingxu Pavilion in these days

is too much burden on you.

I work for Supreme Master.

This is nothing.

However, I found in this investigation that

Lingxu Pavilion is extremely cautious,

and the Mei family, although having lost their influence for a long time,

cannot be underestimated.

Do you know where Dragon Howl City's first missing Chihua Pill

is now?

Based on your question,

that Chihua Pill should be in the Mei family's hands.

Was the murder of Master Tang also committed by the Mei family?

Right.

The Mei family wants to bond with Lingxu Pavilion via marriage with the Chihua Pill as a bargaining chip.

It seems

in Lingxu Pavilion, someone's life is in serious danger.

And this person's status in Lingxu Pavilion

is conceivable.

Now that we have the information,

who is the most suitable for infiltrating Lingxu Pavilion?

Supreme Master is your master.

Don't you know what she would want?

It seems she will deal with Lingxu Pavilion herself.

Thanks for helping Supreme Master.

No one can be a better informant in Jianghu than Snow Union.

Lingxu Pavilion will never let Dragon Howl City do evil.

Based on Lingxu Pavilion's style,

Rong Jingfeng will be taught a lesson.

As long as Rong Jingfeng is capable of thinking,

he will go to Lingxu Pavilion very soon.

If it wasn't because you are the master of the Hall of Life,

the fact that you come here every day

to check the Chihua Pill so carefully, would cause doubts that

you have some evil plan on it.

The white snow lotuses have not yet withered,

and even the red flame lotuses are days away from blossoming.

So, so far,

I have another question that I still can't figure out.

What kind of question can be so difficult to my clever grandmaster?

Back then, in order to save Yizhou,

Mo Huan had to come here to get the poison-eating insect.

But in this place, there is only one path to leave Dragon Howl City,

which is guarded.

Other paths all have dead ends.

I also asked the guarding disciples.

They didn't notice her at all.

So, how do you think Mo Huan could avoid so many eyes

to infiltrate this place?

Mo Huan can come and go like a shadow.

When she pretended to be Mu Yan, as you were dealing with her,

you didn't find anything wrong, did you?

Not to mention these disciples.

This matter must be investigated as soon as possible.

Otherwise, no matter how many disciples we send here,

it won't help at all.

It's the first time I saw you being so serious.

You want me to be like you, spending every day on food and drinks?

Look, you are almost a pig now.

Look at your face and your tummy.

Let's stop kidding now.

Since your father wanted the Hall of Life to take charge of it,

I can't mess it up.

Actually, the person who wants the Chihua Pill to live longer.

Chihua Pill itself is highly toxic.

While using it, one has to endure the pain in the heart meridians.

The secret of Dragon Howl City is not the Chihua Pill,

but the antidote to it.

Everyone wants to live forever.

They want the Chihua Pill just to live longer.

So no one dares to offend Dragon Howl City.

But if Mo Huan is involved in this, that's not so simple.

If the Chihua Pill gets stolen again after its fruition,

Dragon Howl City will lose its status in Jianghu.

Do you have a way to handle that?

Disciples of Dragon Howl City can only handle ordinary people.

If they deal with Mo Huan, let alone spotting her,

even if they can, it's hard for them to fight her.

So, we have to do something she can't expect.

Does the Chihua Pill have any change during its fruition?

The Chihua Pill's fruition happens during winter.

At that time, I rarely went out because of my cold,

so I don't know what its fruition looks like.

After this heavy snow, winter is over, but the snow remains.

This is exactly like the Mei family's plum blossom fragrance.

What idea have you got?

To deal with Mo Huan,

we need good arrangements of not only men but also tricks.

Dragon Howl City is so boring.

It didn't take me much time to see around.

It's so dull.

It's said that Dragon Howl City always has great masters.

Then why could none of them stop me?

What?

Having been the master of the City for a few years,

you can't recognize your master anymore.

How could it be possible, master?

After so many years,

you still look so charming.

Who in this world

can ever stop my dear master?

After a long journey to my Dragon Howl City,

why didn't you tell me in advance

so that I could prepare to receive my master?

You really have changed.

As the City's master, you speak and act more decently than before.

But, what a pity!

I thought that after you betrayed the Ling Sect,

you'd have a good life.

How unexpected that in these years,

you grew old so fast!

It really hurts me to see this.

What exactly is your purpose to

visit Dragon Howl City today?

I don't think

you are here just to reminisce about the good old days.

You used to be so fearless.

After you got power,

why did you become so timid?

Mo Huan,

for the sake of our master-disciple relationship,

I call you master today.

But if you dare have any evil plan on my Rong Su,

I will stop it even at the cost of my life.

The word I loathe now is "die."

What do you want?

What do I want?

You should ask what you have done.

Back then,

you were determined to betray the Ling Sect

in order to steal the Ling Sect's treasure, the Chihua Pill.

The Chihua Pill is meant to save people.

It should be returned to its rightful owner, and you shouldn't use it.

Oh.

I came today also to tell you

I've found the whereabouts of the first Chihua Pill.

Is that so?

What you mean is you're willing to tell me about this?

You should know

I have never followed common sense.

This Chihua Pill is right in Lingxu Pavilion.

I want to have a game with you

to see who will get it back first.

Lingxu Pavilion's power

isn't any inferior than Dragon Howl City.

Lingxu Pavilion will never let you continue to do evil.

If it's really the case,

you can take it back yourself once and for all.

Why did you bother to go all the way here to tell me?

How boring it would be for me to fight Dragon Howl City!

It's fun only if we fight each other for it.

Do you think I should go to Lingxu Pavilion first

or tackle all other sects that have the Chihua Pill first?

Both are good ideas.

I just wonder how well your power has recovered

after your practice in seclusion.

After so many years,

why haven't you improved at all?

The past will not end here.

I brought Dragon Howl City to this status today

all by myself.

I will never allow anyone to ruin my efforts.

Give me that.

Your father's wound is tiny, but it reaches his meridians.

If I hadn't used this technique, which broke the skin first

and then reformed the meridians,

I'm afraid I couldn't have stopped the bleeding.

The blood seeped out of the wound.

It could probably have been ignored.

If it bled too much, his life would be in danger.

I only saw

this kind of wound in the medical books of the Hall of Life.

I could only give it a try.

How unexpected

Mo Huan has achieved such a high level of martial arts skills!

How is Master Rong?

How can you keep me out of this major attack?

Am I an outsider?

This is the duty of the Hall of Life.

The Hall of Seniority shouldn't meddle in, OK?

You...

Lin Jing,

take some people and go to Lingxu Pavilion immediately.

You must stop Mo Huan for me and take back the Chihua Pill.

The Chihua Pill is in Lingxu Pavilion's hands?

Why is the Chihua Pill in Lingxu Pavilion's hands?

Is it because Mother's illness has deteriorated again?

Lin Jing, what are you thinking about?

Lingxu Pavilion contains information so well.

And rumor has it that intruders never managed to get back.

Are we really going there?

It's not so bad if she can't come back.

Rong Hua will hinder me

if she stays in Dragon Howl City.

Lin Jing and Mo Huan are now competing for the Chihua Pill,

and with Lingxu Pavilion's participation,

it'll save us so much effort.

Master Rong is wounded now.

After Lin Jing leaves,

the City's mastership will definitely return to you.

Be careful on the way.

You and Rong Su don't get along.

It really worries me to leave you alone in Dragon Howl City.

Would you go to Lingxu Pavilion with me?

Rong Hua will definitely go with Lin Jing.

In this dangerous action, how can Rong Hua be at ease?

This way, Ma'am, you can make a good showing of yourself.

Master Rong is seriously wounded.

You order the Hall of Emptiness to

protect all the sects that have the Chihua Pill.

He wants to take advantage of this opportunity to

extend Dragon Howl City's power to all the sects

in order to monitor and control the entire Jianghu.

I certainly won't let him down.

I just wonder why he handed it over to Lin Jing.

What is his plan?

What are you thinking about?

We're dealing with both Mo Huan and Lingxu Pavilion.

One has got great fighting capabilities,

and the other has got extraordinary power.

What strategy should we use?

Don't worry about it.

Your grandmaster is here.

Let's go.

Greetings, Mrs. Lin.

This is a token of the Mei family's regard.

Please accept it.

I decided to go to the Mei family without permission

and worked with Miss Mei to seize the Chihua Pill.

Please punish me, Master Lin.

Who gave you the guts to offend the Mei family?

to offend the Mei family?

Mrs. Lin, don't be angry.

I abetted Cangqi to do that.

Don't blame him.

It's a pity.

About our marriage with your Mei family,

I'm afraid Lingxu Pavilion must disappoint you.

It doesn't matter.

If Young Master does have fallen in love with someone,

I will wish him all the best.

This Chihua Pill is purely my gift for you.

You need it.

So, no need to refuse it.

It's My son Yue that doesn't have the fortune to have you.

Cangqi, help Mrs. Lin get some rest.

Mrs. Lin.

Greetings, Councilor Lu.

Where is Mrs. Lin?

The young master told me to get medicine.

Maybe it's good for Mrs. Lin's illness.

Mrs. Lin is...

What's wrong?

What happened?

I'm not sure if Young Master's medicine will help her.

It must be because of the lack of my internal force.

It's so close.

What should I do?

Mrs. Lin.

Mrs. Lin, it's OK.

We did it.

Xueman,

I'm so lucky you've helped me.

Your subordinate Lu Yizhou is reporting back.

I failed to bring the young master back to the Pavilion.

It's my dereliction of duty.

But he has something to tell Master Lin.

Tell him to come back and speak to me himself.

While your task is not completed yet,

he believed that I would not punish you?

It's indeed my dereliction of duty.

I will accept your punishment.

It's been so long.

Where has he gone?

You're finally back.

Lin Jing...

Who are you?

Lin Jing?

Who the heck are you?

It doesn't matter if you don't know me, as long as I know who you are.

I won't hurt you.

I just hope you can do me a little favor.

I... hate to hurt women.

Stay back.

Interesting!

You know a few moves.

How unexpected that the Mei Family, one of the four most influential families in Jiangnan,

would degenerate to the point today!

The young master of the Mei family would strike a little girl!

My sister is a kindhearted girl, but I'm not an easy one to bully.

Of course I must settle the scores with you.

I, Mei Ying, am disdainful to deal with a girl like this.

But for my sister, I have no other choice.

Put the sword down.

Lin Jing, don't fall for his trick.

Mei Ying, if you hurt her, I will kill you.

You call him

Lin Jing?

Lin Jing?

It seems you don't know what's really going on when involved in it.

I won't let you sow the discord between us.

The Mei family is also a decent one in Jianghu.

After you ambushed us in such a nasty way today,

aren't you afraid of being laughed at when people find out?

Do you know that he...

Lin Jing.

Liuli?

From Snow Union?

You're well-informed indeed.

This forest is on Snow Union's turf.

Everybody in Jianghu should know it.

This is a place for business.

Peaceful relations bring about business success.

Whoever you are, if you dare use force on Snow Union's turf,

you have to ask for my crystal ball's permission.

I'm not backing down on this.

I'll go to your place and settle the score with you.

Let's go.

Rong Hua, are you alright?

Thanks for your help, Liuli.

I did it just for money.

300 taels of silver.

You two know each other?

I heard from my dad that there's no information Snow Union can't get.

So I arranged it beforehand.

By the way, can Snow Union get the information about Lingxu Pavilion?

Such information is worth a lot.

I can't make the decision on my own.

However,

I can take you to Snow Union's place

and you can ask our chief in person.

Great.

Rong Hua,

there's something I must confess to you.

Guys,

our chief invites you to go inside.

Greetings, Chief.

They're here.

Liuli, go make some tea.

Yes.

Please take a seat.

I've already got the information you want, Miss Rong Hua.

But I'm not sure if you can afford it.

You can charge as much as you want.

I'll pay exactly the price you name.

Miss Rong Hua, you're decisive and forthright,

just like your father in the past.

It's just that this time what Snow Union wants is more than money.

So you want...

The antidote to the Chihua Pill.

I never expected that a noble lady like you

could cook such delicious soup.

My cooking skills are very much inferior to my mother's.

I know that I'm not as intelligent and capable as my brother

who can support our family and continue the family's glory.

I can only be a good wife and a good mother in the future.

You're a good girl.

My terrible son doesn't deserve you.

After he comes back, I'll reprove him.

Don't give him a hard time, Mrs. Lin.

In my eyes,

he's the best man in the world.

It is my own decision

to wait for him.

Don't worry.

You and I get along well with each other.

Moreover, I've accepted the Chihua Pill.

So I've already considered you as my daughter-in-law.

This marriage won't be canceled by anybody.

Thank you, Mrs. Lin.

Mrs. Lin.

Come in.

Go ahead.

Xueman is part of our family.

Mei Ying, the eldest son of the Mei family,

has broken into Lingxu Pavilion.

Cangqi has sent people to stop him.

Finally, you're here.

Although I can't break the formation Lingxu Pavilion's master has set up,

I've learned about the martial arts skills of Lingxu Pavilion's disciples.

Just so so.

Our young master didn't invite you here.

If you dare go any further into Lingxu Pavilion,

don't blame me for being rude.

I bet

your young master isn't in the Pavilion now.

Ying.

Ying.

Xueman.

Did they hurt you?

If they did, just tell me.

I'll handle this for you.

Cangqi.

The Mei family and Lingxu Pavilion are connected by marriage.

Miss Mei is paying a visit to the pavilion.

It's normal for Mr. Mei to be here to meet his sister.

Why did you bother to fight against him?

I'm protecting Lingxu Pavilion as ordered by Master Lin.

It is my duty to prevent any outsiders from getting in here.

Even though you're the councilor, you can't give me orders.

This is Master Lin's idea.

Ying.

I did this out of my own will.

I'm willing to go back with you and take any punishment.

But I'm begging you.

Don't blame Lingxu Pavilion and Mrs. Lin. OK?

My silly sister.

Do you know the fiancé you miss so much

has fallen in love with another girl?

Miss Rong Hua.

Are you an idiot?

How could you reject in person the offer our chief gave you?

Didn't you just say that

peaceful relations bring about business success,

and are based on mutual agreement?

Snow Union charges too much.

I can't afford it.

I have no choice but to investigate it myself.

I'm afraid someone is happy to see this right now.

Don't blame me for not warning you.

You'll regret it one day.

Thanks for your warning.

Alright then. Take care.

Just go through this corridor and go straight toward the gate.

What?

Why are you suddenly unhappy?

I've missed such a good opportunity.

What a pity!

When I was in there just now, I hesitated so much.

Then why didn't you agree?

There's always a bottom line.

The Chihua Pill is our Dragon Howl City's bottom line.

How can I give it to other people so easily?

What are you going to do next?

Don't look down upon me.

I have clues in my hand.

I remember Master Xue once said

that he was ambushed on a path of Suilin Valley.

Maybe the entrance to Lingxu Pavilion is there.

Otherwise, how could they be so bold as to hurt people?

Let's go.

What are you waiting for?

I think you're not stupid.

You're quite clever, just like me.

I'm always clever.

I've checked it.

The path of Suilin Valley is less than half a day's walk away from here.

Let's stay overnight here today and go there tomorrow morning.

If you don't find anything tomorrow, what are you going to do?

I'm not an immortal.

How can I know everything?

We'll see when we get there tomorrow.

There's no use of worrying too much now.

You're always so unprepared,

which isn't fit for the life in Jianghu. Do you know that?

Now that we're here, there's nothing fit or unfit.

By the way, back in Snow Union today, what did you try to tell me?

Your dishes are ready.

Are you serving the wrong table?

I haven't ordered any food.

I'm exactly serving you guys.

These are the gifts from an honored guest in the inner yard.

You don't have to pay for these.

Sir, miss, please enjoy your dinner.

An honored guest in the inner yard?

What's this guest's name?

What does the guest look like?

Well...

It's inconvenient for me to tell you that.

If it's inconvenient for you to tell us,

then we'll go there and have a look ourselves.

Miss, please don't.

Now that the guest knows our whereabouts

and cares so much about our food,

I want to see who that guest is.

Miss, miss.

Miss...

My guess is right.

It's indeed our old friend.

Seeing those dishes, I already figured out

the honored guest in the inner yard is you.

In this world, except my mother, you know me best.

What happened to you today?

You always talked so much to me every time you met me.

Why are you so silent today?

Wait.

Something's wrong with you, right?

It's actually not me.

Not you?
