Love a Lifetime

Episode 3

Take the antidotes extracted from the white flowers on time

to suppress the toxins, and one can be safe and sound every year.

Of course, everyone in this world wants to live

despite the high price to pay.

What would happen if they can't take the antidote on time?

There's a record of the people who have taken the Chihua Pill

in the Hall of Emptiness of Dragon Howl City.

If any of them fails to take it on time,

Dragon Howl City will send its disciples to kill them.

That's the deepest secret and the most important thing

to Dragon Howl City and Rong Jingfeng.

Now, accidents concerning the Chihua Pill have happened one after another.

It was stolen and then destroyed under the nose of Dragon Howl City.

So it's understandable that the Hall of Emptiness sent its disciples here.

So do they think we have the Chihua Pill?

If they've investigated it, they should have known we didn't do it.

Even if it were here in Lingxu Pavilion,

the killer might still be someone else

who just gave the Chihua Pill to us.

It's strange that we've found nothing about it.

It seems we've still underestimated Rong Jingfeng.

He's much more prudent than we thought.

It's a pity that the assassins we sent out the last time

failed to catch Rong Hua on the lake.

Only by exchanging his precious daughter's life for the Chihua Pill,

fcan we stop him from doing evil.

This brat is much cuter in his sleep.

You're awake?

Why didn't you wake me up?

You were sleeping like a baby and I didn't want to wake you up.

You slept here all night?

Yes.

Or where else could I sleep?

You're finally better now.

If you were not better, I would have to take you back to Dragon Howl City.

Luckily, you didn't take me back,

or my father would have misunderstood it again.

Are you worried about me?

Where is Mu Yan?

Why isn't she here?

She went out to gather medicinal herbs early in the morning

and she would be back at dusk.

She said before leaving that after having acupuncture

with moxibustion on schedule, you would be fine.

Has she looked at your wound?

I'm fine.

By the way, the people on the mountain yesterday

were clearly aiming at Dragon Howl City.

Do you know them?

How bold they are to go against Dragon Howl City!

I wonder if they were in cahoots

with those who attacked us on the lake.

That's impossible!

Why are you so sure?

They, they used different martial arts skills.

Can't you see that?

No, I can't.

Rong Hua, I know you can't practice your internal force due to the cold disease,

so I've developed a set of custom-made martial art skills for you.

In this way, even when I'm not with you in the future,

you can still protect yourself.

Really?

Of course. I'm a man of my word.

Thank you.

Now are you impressed by my charm, my grand-disciple?

Yes!

Don't pinch my face.

It's precious.

Let me do it again.

- No! - Let me pinch it!

I've said no. Don't do this.

OK, OK. Do it quickly.

Let me pinch it.

Satisfied?

- Don't run. - Stop it.

Let me do it again.

- Let me do it again. - This is the last time.

You, you...!

Who is it?

What are you doing?

Master!

You're an unmarried girl. How could you...?

You...!

What do you want to say?

What a lousy master you are!

I was gone for only one day, and you put Rong Hua in danger!

That's impossible!

I watched her grow up and I care about her the most in this world.

How would I put her in danger?

I don't believe it.

Do you know her cold disease attacked

and that someone wanted to kill her yesterday?

Hua, what happened?

Why would it attack again?

Master, don't worry. I'm fine now.

I'm just wondering what's going on in Dragon Howl City.

I'm afraid this time your father won't go easy on Lin Jing.

Hey!

Have you found out those assassins' identities?

They're not just ordinary people.

I didn't expect that the Ling Sect would come back again

so many years after it vanished.

Rong Jingfeng must have found some clues.

And he must have known the culprit was sent by the Ling Sect.

Do you mean the ones who lured Rong Hua and me out of the city

were also from the Ling Sect?

Rong Su lead the disciples of the Hall of Emptiness out of the city,

so Dragon Howl City

must have let down its guard.

But what do they really want to do?

Rong Su and Rong Hua being attacked,

Master Xue being killed in Dragon Howl City,

the Chihua Pill getting destroyed

and his dead body being hung on the city gate,

the Ling Sect must be up to something this time.

Rong Jingfeng won't let it go easily.

So it was the Ling Sect.

I won't just stand by.

We're supposed to fight against the evil.

Thank you for your medicine.

I'm leaving as I need to attend to something else.

Wait. Come back.

Rong Jingfeng is so suspicious of you

that he believes that you killed Master Xue,

so you still want to go back?

Since he wants to kill me, instead of running away,

it's better to prove my innocence.

Besides, the Ling Sect did it and it's serious,

so how can I just stand by?

You're just asking for trouble.

When you're back home, please have yourself checked

to see if there's something wrong with your mind.

Bro, please.

Greetings, Dad.

She clearly took the cold rouge powder,

so why is she safe and sound now?

Good since you've come back safely.

What now?

Dad, please countermand your order.

Lin Jing didn't kill Master Xue.

We can't do this.

What are you doing now?

Stand up and behave yourself.

Look at you.

Hua, it's none of your business.

Now in Dragon Howl City,

only Lin Jing is an outsider.

After Master Xue got murdered, he left and disappeared.

If it was not him, who else could it be?

You claimed that Lin Jing was the killer, but do you have evidence?

And what's his motive?

You're being unreasonable.

He must have his purpose and motive to murder someone.

I want to get him back, so I can find out his motive.

Hua, no conclusions have been reached.

Your father will make a final decision.

Please don't jump to any conclusion

since you haven't got any evidence.

He's definitely not the killer.

That's enough.

I'll make my decision.

Just mind your own business.

Only when you become the master of a hall,

will you have a say in this kind of matters.

You've grown up, but every day you just loaf around.

Do you know the killer got the chance

because your sister went out looking for you?

And now you're still messing with me.

Go to your room and you're grounded for three days.

You're not allowed to get out without my permission.

Dad, ground me as long as you want,

but please countermand your order.

Hua, stop it.

What's the matter, Ziyan?

Master Rong,

Master Rong, Lin Jing has come back

and he's surrounded by the disciples of the Hall of Emptiness.

So what do you want to do with him?

How bold he is!

Hua!

Hua, stop!

What are you going to do?

Come back!

Look at you.

I just want to get inside.

You could just report it.

Why do you stop me?

No need.

Master Rong has ordered us to catch you alive or dead.

Stop!

Miss Rong Hua.

They wouldn't let me get inside.

Why are you back?

I worry about your safety.

How can Bai take care of you

when he can't even take good care of himself?

Go! Leave here now!

Go as far away as you can!

I've made up my mind.

From now on, I won't run away again.

I'll get inside and prove my innocence.

Why are you so stubborn?

My father doesn't mind if you're innocent or not.

Just go! Now!

What's going on?

Dad!

Dad, if you really want to look into it,

I can prove that Lin Jing is innocent.

What can you prove?

Go back home!

My cold disease attacked yesterday.

It was Lin Jing who helped and took care of me all night.

What?

Last night, you were with him?

That's right.

I was with him when Master Xue was murdered.

Bai?

How dare you!

So you were gone for a whole day and night

because you don't want others know

that your cold disease attacked again.

My cold disease hadn't attacked for years,

but yesterday it attacked again.

Don't you know why?

Before I left, I asked Xiaoxiao to put away the teacup

you prepared for me and I found there was cold rouge powder in it.

Is that just a coincidence?

Shouldn't we ask you why Dragon Howl City was defenseless

when Master Xue was murdered?

Su, is that true?

Dad, you can investigate

whether there was something wrong with the tea.

I don't want to compete with Su,

but she's always aggressive.

If I don't fight back, I'm afraid my life will be in danger.

Since you want to compete,

let's just fight to the finish.

There're internal and external troubles for us,

but you two are still making troubles!

We're threatened by growing crisis as our enemies are in the dark.

We have to keep a clear mind.

Dad, I trust Lin Jing.

He can protect Dragon Howl City.

Ziyan, find out what happened to Hua.

OK.

Go back home!

Let's go.

Rong Hua, I really underestimated you.

There's cold rouge powder in this teacup,

but the amount is not enough to poison Hua.

But it's enough to cause her disease to recur.

This is outrageous!

Master Rong, it's hard to get

and there was some in the Hall of Life.

I checked the record.

All the cold rouge powder in the Hall of Life

got stolen several days ago.

I really have to do something now.

I'm not dead yet

and someone has been making trouble under my nose.

This is outrageous!

I think since the position of the master of the Hall of Life has been vacant for long,

someone should take this position.

You have to attend to numerous affairs every day

and it's inevitable that you may miss something.

Bai is right.

Ziyan, arrange it

and we'll select a master for the Hall of Life in a couple of days.

- OK. - Remember.

Let everyone know that anyone in Dragon Howl City can run for it.

OK.

The master of the Hall of Life!

It sounds interesting.

I'm in!

Lin Jing, don't think you can mess around here

just because you have nothing to do with the death of Master Xue.

If you want to run for it,

you have to be one of us.

Master Rong, just name your conditions.

OK.

Ziyan, have you heard it?

Lin Jing wants to join us, and I want you to handle it.

Remember. Test him thoroughly.

OK.

Are you still mad at me?

I dare not.

Really?

If there's nothing else,

we're going to leave.

Bye.

Why are you here? To laugh at me?

Auntie said you hadn't recovered completely.

You should take the punishment and the medicine at the same time.

So all these years, you've been on guard against me.

I won't say I'm not on guard,

but why don't you ask yourself why?

I don't say it, but it doesn't mean I don't know it.

Since you know everything,

why didn't you expose me in front of Master Rong?

You can be heartless and cruel, but I can't.

Would Dad be happy to see us fight?

Do you really think I would kill you for power?

Do you mean you're being kind enough for not taking my life?

But in my mind, I'm willing to

give up my life for the happiness of my family.

Things are different now.

I could give up the position and everything else,

and leave them to you,

but now I won't.

I didn't know what you really cared about before.

It was like you cared about nothing

except having fun.

But now you're going to go all out against me for Lin Jing.

Because you left me no other choice.

Rong Hua,

you've also left me no other choice.

How are you feeling?

Much better.

By the way, Lin Jing,

I came here to tell you that you have to take the position

of the master of the Hall of Life.

Are you willing to make me the victim of your fight

against your sister?

Of course not!

Since you're in Dragon Howl City, you have to pick a side.

I was the one who helped you establish your side.

And I'm going to help solidify and expand your side.

Well, did Mu Yan teach you how to do the acupuncture just now?

Yes. Luckily, Mu Yan prepared it in advance.

She even crushed the herbal medicine

and made medicine packages with it, so you can use it when you have the acupuncture every day.

Just a second.

Here. Don't forget to use it every day.

Did Mu Yan make this?

Yes. What's wrong?

Something is wrong.

These gold needles are not the ones she normally uses.

And she couldn't have come up with

the recipe of this medicine package.

Mu Yan is good at treating external injuries

and even the most excellent doctors

couldn't have cured my cold disease so quickly, let alone Mu Yan.

I haven't seen her since yesterday,

so...

Are you suspecting Mu Yan?

Is she really Mu Yan?

Come and buy my hay!

Sesame seed cakes!

Oven-fresh sesame seed cakes!

Here.

OK. Pleae take care.

Come and see my hay!

What a good start!

Now I've saved Rong Hua,

so Rong Su won't be the next master of the City now.

Watch out!

Why are you sneakily following this young girl

from the market here?

He asked you a question.

So what are you up to?

You won't tell?

Retreat!

Sir, thank you for helping me.

As long as you're safe. You're welcome.

You must have little life experience.

Remember not to show off your fortune.

Judging from the way you bought the kite,

you must have been spoiled by your parents,

so you know little about the human misery.

Look at you.

So inexperienced!

Where do you live? I'll walk you home.

Walk me home?

OK! This way.

Let's go.

This way.

Why do I feel we're going round in circles?

Yeah. Here we are.

So close?

I didn't expect you to live here.

So? You know someone here?

Is Miss Rong Su always so grumpy?

Miss Rong Su

has been stubborn the whole time, so she suffered a lot before.

Are you close with her?

Otherwise, how would you know how she was before?

I'm happy to have met you today.

But I think

you really care about Miss Rong Su.

Would you like to go inside

so I can tell you a lot of interesting stories about her?

In this world, no one knows her better than me.

No, thank you.

Since you've reached home safely, I'm leaving.

Wait.

It just occurred to me that I lost an accessory at the market.

Please go inside and tell my family that I'll be back soon.

- How come it's you? - That's what I wanted to say.

Where is Mu Yan?

Mu Yan?

Do you mean the girl who took me here?

Where is she now?

Shouldn't you be in Dragon Howl City?

Why are you here?

Do you two want to ambush a young and weak girl?

We don't intend to hurt her,

but she's a fake Mu Yan.

Greetings, Supreme Master.

Can you take that kite down for me?

I think we're talking about the same person,

but there's something wrong with her look and age.

Who is she?

We failed to catch her this time,

which means she must have been aware of it.

She saved Rong Hua and cured my injury.

I don't think she meant to harm us.

In that case, why would she pretend to be someone else?

The disciples I sent out have got nothing.

It seems the real Mu Yan must have come to a bad end.

This is weird.

I have to inform my father at once,

so he would be prepared.

I hope I'm wrong about it.

But I'm afraid the bad feelings will always come true.

Please don't say that.

I have to go as I have something else to attend to.

This is strange.

He always wants to take you back home to have you get married,

but today he just left you here.

He's anxious to meet his chess friend.

Chess friend?

What chess friend?

It's a very special friend to him.

A special friend?

So? Are you going to give up?

I quit.

This is outrageous!

Lu Yizhou, are you here to tease me?

Of course not.

I just can't hide a secret.

I won't be at ease unless I figure it out.

I'm afraid it might be a trouble if I keep it a secret.

What do you want to know?

It's serious, so I want you to be honest with me.

Just say it! Stop being secretive!

Ma'am.

Don't mind him. Just say it.

We've found the dead body of Mu Yan.

And according to the Hall of Sickness,

she must have died at least three days ago.

How is that possible?

Rong Hua saidthat Mu Yan was there when her cold disease attacked.

I think there must be something wrong too.

So please go and check it.

Miss Rong Su, I haven't finished here.

Mr. Lu, Miss Rong has something important to attend to.

Please behave yourself.

You go first. And I'll come later.

Yes, ma'am.

What do you want to know?

I don't think you have ever hesitated before.

Would you tell me if you know a girl

who's mysterious with excellent medical skills

and always with an innocent smile?

Lin Jing told me that this girl pretended to be Mu Yan

and saved Miss Rong Hua the other night.

And then I met her in the street.

I accidentally found she knew you quite well when we talked.

What else did she say to you?

Are you being afraid?

I know things are complicated here,

so I didn't tell anyone about it.

Don't worry.

What do you mean?

I just want to help you.

But if you have difficulties, I won't ask you again.

You go.

Are you alright?

No matter what you've heard,

if you tell anyone about it,

I will kill you myself.

Wait.

Miss Rong Su, I really want to help you.

No one can help me in this world.

Since the founding of Dragon Howl City,

12 Chihua Pills have been sent out.

From the north of the snow mountain to the south of the Yangtze River,

the ones who got Chihua Pills are protected by us.

All these years,

we're in charge of the entire Jianghu,

and no one dares to challenge or doubt us.

But now, someone has murdered a man and destroyed the Chihua Pill.

What they're up to is quite obvious.

They hate the Chihua Pill

and know how to destroy it.

Could it be her?

Would you tell me if you know a girl

who's mysterious with excellent medical skills

and always with an innocent smile?

Why is she so afraid of that young girl who pretended to be Mu Yan?

For her personality and martial arts skills...

Come on! You're not a girl.

Why do you sleep with a dagger under your pillow?

The situation is dangerous here.

And we don't know who our enemies are.

It won't do any harm to get more prepared.

You're unbelievable!

What? Have you come around and decided to go home and get married?

Miss Mei is a young lady from one

of the four most influential families in Jiangnan.

She's a great match for you.

Besides, you can't say no to the marriage

your mother has decided for you.

Finished?

Just go back with me as soon as possible.

You're so loquacious.

Just come with me if you're my friend.

Where do you want to go?

You can't be up to anything good

for being so secretive at this late hour.

Are you afraid that I might do something to you?

You're really overthinking. Let's go.

Hurry.

I found it. This is it.

Why do you know where they put these things in the Hall of Emptiness?

I've paid attention to the Hall of Emptiness for a long time.

It has recorded the name,

the sect and the medication time of the people who have taken the Chihua Pill.

Why would you want to know this?

Because Master Xue was not the only one

who has died for the Chihua Pill.

I think there must be some great scheme behind it.

Lin Jing, are you hiding something from me?

Let's go.

Rong Hua?

Why is she here too?

That's it.

Rong Hua is really smart.

Great minds think alike.

[The Xiao Mansion]

Lin Jing.

Watch out!

When Mo Huan the Supreme Master comes back, all beings must kneel down.

Are you alright?

How could you risk your life

to lure the culprit out by pretending to be Master Xiao?

I'm OK.

Let's go back now.

Why am I not allowed in?

This is Master Rong's idea.

I'm not in a position to tell you why.

Rong Su, how about you wait outside? Once...

Lin Jing and Rong Hua have broken into the Hall of Emptiness several times at night,

but they haven't got any punishment at all.

Since when did the rules of Dragon Howl City lose its binding effect?

I'm going to go inside no matter what.

I need an explanation from Master Rong.

Rong Su, I'm not going to repeat Master Rong's words.

If you dare to take another step forward,

don't blame me for being rude.

Rude?

I just knew even you are on Rong Hua's side.

What else in Dragon Howl City I'm not supposed to know?

Ma'am, don't act too soon.

Master Rong may have his own idea about what happened yesterday.

Let's wait and see.

There's no need to offend Master Rong.
