[Honey, Don't Run Away]

[Shukui Stronghold]

Dad!

You died in a horrible condition...

His body is totally burnt but his clothes are still intact.

How is that possible?

There was no flammable substance at the ceremonial site.

All of the disciples here...

saw his body lighten up by itself.

It's true.

It's a sign that Ghost Bride is displeased.

Who are you?

I'm Jing Chi...

Jin San Shui's junior, and the Chief of Shukui Stronghold.

I'm here to capture ghost and evil.

Why didn't you come earlier?

My husband would not be dead if you had come earlier.

Give me back my husband!

Your husband's time is up.

It's also a warning from the Ghost Bride to all of us.

What do you mean?

Men is made up of water and is not easily combustible.

My senior must have been a victim...

of the Ghost Bride's wrath instead of every one of you.

If the Ghost Bride's wrath isn't contained,

I'm sure you will not get away with this.

What do we do now?

What should we do now?

Don't trust him.

He's a liar.

I don't think there's such a wrath.

You should not believe in superstition.

It's better to lodge a report to the authorities.

Let them handle this issue.

Devil!

Devil!

Devil, go away!

Devil, go away!

Go away!

You liar, why did you accuse me?

You have annoyed the Ghost Bride before...

and today, you are making the same mistake again!

This girl brings bad luck.

But you let her join the celebration of the Ghost Bride's death anniversary.

It's clear that you wanted to make the Ghost Bride angry.

Useless old man!

We exposed your scam but you can't make wild accusations.

That's right.

It's him.

He's not the disciple of the Ghost Bride.

He sneaked into our stronghold.

Just now...

he said something of a nonsense.

He must be a trouble!

That's right! He must be a trouble!

What nonsense are you talking about?

I'm just looking for someone.

If this girl is not banished from here,

we could be in a bigger trouble.

-That's right! -Shoo her away now!

Banish the devil now!

-Banish them both! -Yes!

You are all a fool.

Go away!

Don't you know who I am?

Who cares?

You have insulted the Ghost Bride! You will not be forgiven!

That's right! Go away!

Beat it!

Beat it!

Begone!

Begone!

Buzz off!

Devils, begone!

Beat it!

Go away, devils!

Jin Yan is not here. What are we going to do?

I'm the one who can show...

that we can handle tough situations even without that Pretty Face.

-Begone! -Beat it, devils!

Go away!

Begone!

Ling Zi Ran!

I'm the Deputy Magistrate. Do not do anything stupid!

[Episode 5]

[Magistrate Court]

Sir, let's start now.

Wait!

Do it now.

Just relax.

Stay calm.

Sir, please stay calm.

I won't be able to fix your bone if you are too anxious.

You are weak.

Ye Xiao Tang.

I'm hurt because of you!

I'm the Ninth Prince who's been taken care of since I was little.

I'm always accompanied by eunuchs anywhere I go.

I haven't been hurt like this before.

Why can't I scream out of pain on this one?

Please stay calm.

Why are you coming so close to me?

I want to look at my saviour really closely.

Who knows I could...

repay you with money.

What were you thinking?

Sir.

I have fixed your bone.

I'll give you a hot pack.

You will feel pain for a couple more days.

And that's normal.

But you must remember, do not fight.

What else?

Xiao Tang, I'm still in pain.

Can you please distract me again?

[Magistrate Court]

Please feed me some beef.

I will not be able to move my hands for a few days.

I have no choice but to ask you to feed me three times a day.

I just need to feed you food.

I'm used to feeding the dogs.

I don't see the difference.

Please scoop me some soup.

My mother passed away when I was still a kid.

I was practically raised by the court ladies.

But they always treat me carefully.

They are afraid they would annoy me.

But you are different.

You never see me as the Ninth Prince.

To you, I'm just Ling Ri Zan.

Drink this soup.

Xiao Tang is careless.

The Ninth Prince was taken care of since he was a kid.

Let me be of assist, my prince.

Why have you come and caused nuisance?

I was just passing by.

I heard someone was faking his injury so I came to help.

You are jealous, aren't you?

What a nonsense.

You came here to look for me?

Stupid girl, if it's possible,

he wants you to avoid him all the time.

Xiao Tang, come with me to Shukui Stronghold.

You are going there at this hour?

Do you mind?

I don't! I'd love to!

Mu Jin Yan.

I thought you are injured and not able to feed yourself.

You just need to rest here.

Just sit here and be good.

Why are you smiling?

You didn't like me to go with you before.

This is the first time you're asking me out.

It's because you saw the man was burning.

Maybe you could help me with my investigation.

Don't think otherwise.

If the Ninth Prince was not injured,

I would have ask him to come with me too.

By the way...

you don't need to help the Ninth Prince and feed him three times a day.

I'll ask Mr. Feng to take care of him.

You don't have to go to his place every day.

Jin Yan.

You're jealous, aren't you?

No, I'm not.

You're not?

Then why are you feeling nervous?

It's clear that you're jealous.

You started to have a crush on me, right?

What you are talking about is a really serious matter.

You mustn't take it so lightly.

You really do love me.

But you don't want to admit it.

I knew...

that one day you will fall for me.

Is there anything strange that happens at the stronghold lately?

Once we got out of Shukui Stronghold,

the signs have become more visible.

All of the disciples could not stay out of the stronghold for too long.

They would suffer from extreme heat inside the body.

That's right.

That's the punishment by the Ghost Bride.

But what have we done wrong?

We've buried the Ghost Bride last month.

Didn't the Ghost Bride die a hundred years ago?

But they buried the Ghost Bride last month? What does that mean?

Elder Jing Chi.

What should we do?

The Yin aura is too strong at night.

How about this? Take me...

to the burial ground. I'll have a look first.

-We'll take you there. -Okay.

Do you think the signs of illness is true or just a hoax?

I have never heard of such illness before.

Warm and hot, couldn't stand the light.

They even can't leave Shukui Stronghold.

It's strange.

If it's something unusual, there must be a cause for it.

If we can't find the cause, then someone must be playing a trick.

If what they said is true,

does it have to do with Jin San Shui's body lighting up by itself?

We have to follow them there to have a look.

The graveyard?

But the Ghost Bride passed away a hundred years ago.

What is the substitute of her that they were talking about?

Shukui Stronghold sure holds a lot of mystery.

I'm having headache just by thinking of it.

When did I scratch myself? I didn't even notice.

This is wound medication that Mr. Feng prepared.

It can treat wounds, ease pain, and treat bruises.

It will not leave any scar.

It's for me?

This is the first gift that I get from you.

I'll keep it safe at home.

It's an ointment.

But it is still a gift from you.

I'm going back now.

Looks like the new chief is really eager.

But you came during my break.

Say less.

I'm here to tell you this.

Now that I've become the chief of Shukui Stronghold,

the deal of profit sharing that was signed by my father...

is no longer valid.

So, what do you suggest?

You will not get even half of it.

70 percent is mine, 30 percent is yours.

You are far more cunning than your father.

You're disposing anyone who is no longer benefiting you.

But you must remember...

who was the one who helped Shukui Stronghold to flourish.

It's true.

You really have helped my father a lot.

And without you...

the father of mine who only knows how to have fun...

must not have been able to create so many of the Ghost Bride's magic.

I'm pleased that you know that.

Who prepared this umbrella for me?

It should be dried first.

What a fool.

Okay.

We shouldn't wait any longer. Let's go now.

Let's go.

Hurry up.

What's going on?

What's going on?

Who is he?

Right, and why is he here?

Who's this guy?

Forgive me!

I'm sorry!

It's Ghost Bride!

Please forgive me!

I do not dare to do this again.

Who are you? And what are you doing here?

I...

It's not Ghost Bride?

I...

I have been stealing bodies...

for ghost weddings for the wealthy families.

And to my surprise...

I have mistakenly dug out the Ghost Bride's grave two days ago.

And then she emerged.

I panicked and then ran away.

And the day after, after I woke up...

I came back here to bury her again.

But her body went missing.

And I fainted all of a sudden.

I didn't know who hit me.

It's clear that he's the one who has been annoying the Ghost Bride.

-I... -He should be punished.

It's you.

You have made the Ghost Bride mad...

and you have caused my dad his life!

You have been troubling us!

Don't put the blame on me.

I didn't know it would become like this.

That's enough!

Taking your life is the only way to stop the Ghost Bride's enrage.

That's right, take his life!

-Kill him! -Kill him!

Don't come near me!

Kill him!

Please don't!

Stop it!

-Kill him! -Kill him!

How dare you ignore the law and try to kill someone blindly!

That's right!

Whoever have the guts to stop me,

they are the enemies of Shukui Stronghold!

How arrogant.

Who do you think you are?

My disciples, listen!

Let's sacrifice them for the Ghost Bride!

He's burning!

He's burning!

Have you found anything yet?

His body is hot like it's burning.

The symptoms are similar to those of chief and his son.

He'll be burnt too if we don't do anything to help.

[Lately, the disciples are having a strange illness.]

[Their body are extremely hot.]

[In fact, they can't withstand the light.]

[It will be much hotter if it's exposed to light.]

-Let's go back to Shukui Stronghold! -Let's go.

Quick! Open the door!

Open up!

Open up!

Quickly open the door!

Just go away.

The Ghost Bride is angry because of us.

If we don't close the door and reflect on ourselves,

we will be condemned by God.

That's right, just go away!

Feng Er's life is in danger.

You must help him!

If he hadn't dug the grave,

the Ghost Bride wouldn't have been mad at us.

Yet you want us to help him?

I don't think so!

We will not save him.

Don't you have hearts?

Your trust on superstitions will cause someone's life!

Xiao Tang, let me speak.

Open up!

Or I will burn Shukui Stronghold down!

Don't do anything stupid!

Why do you always show yourself up?

And why are you laughing?

From the beginning of time, men's attitude stay the same.

Men are selfish.

Please help me.

-Ling Zi Ran, be quick! -I can't stand it any longer.

What the disciple have been saying is true.

Once you return to the stronghold,

the symptoms drop dramatically.

You still don't want to believe it?

Old man, what do you know about this?

I believe there is justice and those who do wrong will be punished.

I'm sure the Ghost Bride's curse will not stop.

Why did you come to Shukui Stronghold at late hour?

We are here to give a hand.

We don't need your help.

From the moment you're here,

this whole stronghold has turned into a chaos.

Two of our stronghold chiefs were burnt to death.

Those things are strange and do not have reasonable explanation.

Are you trying to make us suffer the same fate?

Yes!

Do you want to frame us?

Just like what you said,

two people were burnt to death.

Feng Er could be the third victim.

The authorities need to investigate to find out the truth.

This thing is out of their jurisdiction.

We need to perform a ceremony to make up to the Ghost Bride.

If we still let her mad,

everyone here will face a horrible death.

Do you understand?

Don't argue with this old man.

If it wasn't for me who knocked down the door,

Feng Er would have been long gone!

From now on,

I will order someone to lock down Shukui Stronghold.

All disciples will be questioned.

Until we get to the bottom of this.

[Shukui Stronghold]

This body is burnt.

What else is there to check?

Do you smell anything funny?

No, I don't.

This body is like barbecued meat but without salt.

That's disgusting.

I...

The ashes of these bodies have a nice but bland smell.

I think something is not right.

Jin Yan.

Strange illness of the disciples here are not baseless.

Feng Er almost burnt himself.

The symptoms are similar with the rest of them.

It has been a hundred years since the inception of the Ghost Bride's tale.

But why do strange things keep on occurring lately?

I think there is someone who has the answer to all these questions.

Who is that?

-Jing Chi. -Jing Chi.

-Are you going to speak or not? -What about?

I don't know anything.

He's wasting our time. Let me handle this!

You'd like to speak or you'd like to say goodbye?

You didn't strike me as a violent man.

An evil man must bow down to a more evil man.

I will speak.

What is the relationship between you and Jin San Shui and his son?

And why did they die terribly?

Jin San Shui committed a lot of sins.

20 years ago, he was really poor.

Then, he came to Shukui Stronghold.

I didn't expect that he was cunning and greedy.

He used me who at the time just became an elder...

to fool the disciples.

At first, I thought he just wanted to educate the people.

But it turns out, he wanted to scam for money.

His disciples started to grow in number.

And he...

He offered me some money to keep his secret.

He's willing to kill people who disobey him for money.

What you are trying to say is,

Jin San Shui is an evil person.

And he deserved to die?

How does a human body burn itself?

Was it also because of you?

I...

I'm not that powerful.

Everything that happens are all because of the Ghost Bride.

The story of gods and ghosts is just a tale.

It's all done to cover up your evilness.

Don't make a wild accusation.

You could get punished.

The Ghost Bride is really powerful.

If I were you, I would leave Shukui Stronghold on this instance.

You don't want to get burnt.

Jing Chi, what exactly are you hiding from us?

Thanks.

Are you okay?

[Mum.]

[What is wrong with your hand?]

We don't have any information now. How do we investigate things?

Don't we have Feng Er with us?

Feng Er must not leave Shukui Stronghold.

He'll be burnt to death.

The murderer knows that Feng Er survived.

I'm sure he will strike again.

We will sleep here tonight to keep Feng Er safe.

And by that, you mean...

we will be guarding here by ourselves?

Yes.

I don't want to.

A prince will not keep an eye for a looter.

I'm reluctant.

Only someone lame will do it.

Xiao Tang.

You are no fun.

You knew I was here.

I could hear your footsteps from 10 miles away.

Are my footsteps really that loud?

That's not what I meant.

What I meant was...

there's not a single thing about you...

that I don't take notice.

You're a sweet talker.

When I was a kid, and every time I was down,

my dad would roast me some sweet potato...

to comfort me.

How...

How do you know I'm feeling down?

I can see it from your face.

You can't hide it.

I...

Xiao Tang, if it wasn't because of you,

I wouldn't be guarding here all night long.

Alright, I know you're a kind man.

Do you mind to tell me...

about what makes you down?

Looks like you care about me.

I don't want to hear it then.

Don't go.

Xiao Tang.

Come here.

Come.

You asked me about my problem but you didn't want to hear about it.

The death of Jin San Shui and his son...

reminds me of my mum.

Concubine Ru?

I heard that the family of Concubine Ru's parents...

the Xie Family, was sentenced to death.

Concubine Ru was really sad and eventually committed suicide.

The staff of the court also said that...

my mum ended her life by committing suicide.

But I do not believe them.

I just saw red spots on the skin of the disciples.

And it reminded me of...

my mum having the same spots just before she died.

And you think that your mum's death had something to do with this?

I think if we can resolve this issue,

we might be able to identify the cause of death of my mum.

Maybe my mum didn't burn herself up.

She was framed.

Don't stress your mind out.

Your mum must be looking out for you from above.

Mr. Mu, according to the post-mortem,

the victim's death was due to loss of blood...

following the stab in the chest with a ceremonial tool.

I didn't hear anything at all last night.

I fell asleep.

You were cast with sleeping smoke.

I saw some ashes on the lawn.

The main door was closed last night.

The murderer must be inside of Shukui Stronghold.

I've asked everyone to come...

to ask a question.

Have any of you...

saw anyone going in and out of the main hall?

Feng Er's murderer could be one of you.

You're reluctant to speak up because you're complicit?

Mr. Mu.

We are just citizens without any weapons.

Please don't push us any longer.

That's true. Don't push us anymore.

Feng Er's murderer is among you.

Do you think he can escape...

if you try to protect him?

Nobody is going to tell us?

I will destroy this stronghold...

and the Ghost Bride's statue.

Don't!

Don't do that!

How dare you?

You will be condemned by God!

Condemned? I will push my luck.

Don't!

Mr. Mu!

I will speak.

I will speak.

Feng Er's murderer is among you.

And who is in the grave?

She's Leng Xing Er that Miss Ye has been searching for.

Leng Xing Er was originally a disciple of Shukui Stronghold herself.

She signed a wedding contract with my son, Jin San Mu.

But then she fell in love with a poor student, an outsider.

Their scandal was exposed.

When they were arguing,

Leng Xing Er broke the Ghost Bride's statue.

So, all of you murdered Leng Xing Er...

to make up to the Ghost Bride?

No.

That's not what happened.

Not long after that, the student realised that he was in a big trouble.

He left Leng Xing Er and this place.

Leng Xing Er was mad and sad, so she killed herself.

She left a letter,

saying that she wanted to be buried as the Ghost Bride...

and to take over the duties of the Ghost Bride...

just to redeem her fault for breaking the statue of Ghost Bride.

We need to verify that Ghost Bride's body...

to know if you're telling the truth.

It doesn't matter anymore.

If the Ghost Bride is really mad,

everybody will pay for the consequences!

Feng Er has stolen the Ghost Bride's body.

He has to redeem his fault with his own life.

No one can save him.

I believe in justice, and bad men will pay for their sins!

Ghost Bride, please protect us!

Ghost Bride, please protect us!

Ghost Bride, please protect us!

Guards!

Arrest all disciples! They will be brought for judgment.

Yes, sir!

Move!

-Freeze! -Stay where you are!

Move!

-Move! -On the double.

-Get up! -Jin Yan.

Don't arrest them.

Or they will die.

On your feet!

Stop!

Bring them back into Shukui Stronghold.

-Move! -Get back inside!

Go on.

Move.

Here, drink this.

-What are you doing? -Ling Zi Ran!

Xiao Tang.

What's the point of being nice to them?

They don't even appreciate your effort.

They can't even get out of Shukui Stronghold.

They must be feeling mad.

Just let them vent out their anger.

Are you saying we need to look after them every day?

Sir, another disciple just committed suicide by jumping into the lake.

Bury him properly.

Give out compensation from a portion of my salary.

Yes, sir.

Now three has committed suicide.

If this continues, everyone at this Shukui Stronghold will not live.

We must find out the root cause of this strange illness.

Only after they have recovered,

we can find out what's weird at this stronghold.

Jin Yan.

I feel sorry for them.

Please don't incarcerate them for now.
