(Back From The Brink)

(Episode 8)

Just admit your defeat.

I'll never admit defeat.

Invincible Fiery Wheel!

Tianyao, face it head-on!

What?

Right now!

Jump!

Do a backflip!

We won!

Tianyao, we won!

End of the match!

Together with Self-Cultivator Yanhui

and her familiar, Lucky Carp, has won!

Not bad.

Tianyao,

how are you? Are you all right?

I'm fine.

I'm glad you're fine.

It's all thanks to me, right?

Yes.

If it weren't for you,

I wouldn't have suffered so many punches.

When a familiar is injured,

the owner feels the pain too.

I wasn't having a great time either.

Besides,

it's because you're not good at fighting.

You punch like you're scratching an itch.

If it were me,

I'd knock it down in three punches.

Three punches.

Help me up.

Tianyuan Tapir is useless now. Let's go.

The defeated familiar has been put to death.

How could this happen?

When a familiar

is abandoned by its master in the Arena,

death is the only outcome.

(Couple Trial) Congratulations to you both

for passing my trial.

Master, I failed you again.

Forgive me, Master.

My cultivation is too weak.

Useless.

Get lost.

Yes, Master.

(Wangyu Tower)

These two said they were going to probe around the Arena.

It's already dark

and they haven't come back.

Could something have happened to them?

Don't be too worried.

Miss Yan is lively,

and they're probably having fun.

So it's normal

to come back late.

Xiange.

Mr. Feng?

Are you all right?

Yes, I'm fine.

It seems Feng Ming didn't give you a hard time.

He didn't.

But...

What's wrong?

Your two friends didn't enter

the honored guest area

for some reason.

Instead, they became participants in the fighting competition.

What?

Don't worry.

They've won

today's match

and are safe now.

But tomorrow,

they'll start

the next match immediately.

Yuli, come with me to rescue them.

I can help you.

No, thanks.

Feng Ming is already suspicious of you.

I don't want you to be in danger because of me.

I don't want you

to be in any danger either.

But one of them is a spirit.

Would you still be willing to help?

Yes, I'm willing.

You don't have to force yourself

for my sake.

Yuli, see our guest off.

This way, please.

(Qijue Agency)

Sir,

Miss Xiange seems

to have left Wangyu Tower

and is preparing to make her move.

I don't want Xiange to take any risks.

Before she takes action,

I'll try to buy those two

from Feng Ming.

But if I don't make it back today...

you must give this to Xiange.

After that, all matters of Qijue Agency

will be handed over to Xiange.

Yes, sir.

Sir,

take these ten golden beans.

Please make an exception for me.

Fine.

You only have one hour.

Be quick about it.

Thank you.

Tianyao,

I brought you medicine for external injuries.

Take it for now.

We can't fight

in the second match tomorrow.

I don't want to watch you die,

nor do I want to see other monsters die

because of us.

I'm getting you out of here.

Have you thought of a plan?

That's why I came here

to discuss it with you.

If I can use my magic,

this place won't be able to keep me in.

But as soon as I entered this place,

I lost my spiritual power.

Do you know what could be the reason?

After we were separated,

the person in charge

took away the spirit token

and still hasn't returned it to me.

Could it be related to the spirit token?

Where are they keeping the spirit token?

It is hung on a wooden pendant full of spiritual power

(that can collect spirit tokens)

(on its own.)

(It seems to have)

a swirling cloud pattern on it

and looks very expensive.

Universal Divine Tree.

What is that?

One hundred years ago,

there was an immortal from the Taoist clan

who loved collecting familiars.

He collected so many of them

that he began to worry

that these familiars would unite and rebel against him.

He was so worried

that he couldn't sleep at night because of this.

So he found the Universal Divine Tree

that was compatible

with the spirit token contract

and borrowed the power of this mystical tree

to dissolve the spiritual power of the familiars

of the spirit token contract.

By doing this,

he could sleep soundly every night

without any worries.

So...

It's not a hopeless situation at the moment.

The Universal Divine Tree

only affects familiars under the pact

and has no restrictions over their masters.

As long as you take my spirit token off

the divine wood pendant,

I can regain my spiritual power.

Then,

we can figure out

how to break out of this dungeon.

Is it that simple?

Yes, it's that simple.

Then...

why are they still here?

Our masters

are only here for profit.

After they won the match,

they'd sell us to the Arena.

They have no intention of saving us.

I'm heading there now.

Stay here

and wait for my return.

Be careful.

If all humans and spirits

could get along like you and her,

that would be great.

(The circular holes)

(on the ground here)

(look exactly)

(like the Starpoint Formation triggered)

(on the gate that night, )

(which I should avoid.)

Thief!

What's wrong with you?

You scared me.

You want to take that spirit token, right?

I'll help you take it

since you have short limbs.

Come on!

Everything seems fine here.

There's nothing strange here.

That's odd.

I was sure I heard noises from here just now.

Senior,

I think you're too nervous.

The Starpoint Formation has already been set up here.

Even if a fly comes in,

it wouldn't dare to land.

Besides,

it's very late now.

We should go back

and rest early.

Master Suying ordered us

to patrol this area.

So we must not slack off.

Let's go

and check the lower level.

All right.

They're gone.

We're safe now.

You have the cheek to say that.

It was your fault.

If you weren't clumsy,

it wouldn't have drawn them here.

Let's put that aside for now.

I'm here to help you.

Help me?

Just last night,

you wanted to kill me.

How many times have you changed your stories in several days?

You're so quick to change your mind.

It was all a misunderstanding.

Right now,

I only want you to rescue your familiar.

What

are your ulterior motives?

Of course I have ulterior motives.

But getting that token

is your top priority now, isn't it?

Cut the crap

and get it.

All right.

Help me out.

I got it.

Now, go and save your familiar.

Thank you.

Tianyao.

What is he doing here?

I asked him.

He does have ulterior motives toward us.

But he can get us

out of here today.

And you believed him?

You...

Hey, wait.

Please don't quarrel

because of me.

I'll just be honest.

For the past few years,

I've been searching

for a pair of Taoist-spirit lovers

who are deeply in love with each other.

My previous mischief toward you

was to test

your affection toward each other.

So I apologize

for that.

But

now I know

that you two are truly devoted to each other

through thick and thin.

If we look at your appearances,

they're truly among the best in this world.

How compatible.

(Couple Trial)

You're pretty thorough.

Take a look at this.

The first two criteria.

(Beauty, Virtue) are easy to meet.

But

where do you two stand out?

You two stand out

in your extreme loyalty

and trust toward each other.

Tell me.

Why do you want to look for Taoist-spirit lovers?

Because I have one thing

that only a pair of Taoist-spirit lovers

who are deeply in love

can help me complete it.

I won't help you with that.

I have my own things to do.

All right.

I'll leave then.

Don't stop me.

Come on. Just wait.

Don't stop me.

Don't...

Don't reject him so soon.

We can always discuss it.

If you want us to help you,

shouldn't you

get us out of here first?

I can get you out.

But

he must get back what belongs to him.

You do know his identity,

don't you?

He's weak

without that thing.

Even if you get us out,

we'll be too weak.

Not only we can't help you,

but we also might even ruin things for you.

So,

can we help him

retrieve what he needs first?

You have a point.

I'll help you.

Why?

You don't want my help?

Do you know

who helped you take this?

He...

He took it.

The thing I need

is at Arena's lowest level.

To go down,

we must use

the wooden mechanism outside.

And now,

there are many disciples of the Guanghan Sect outside.

It won't be easy to deal with them.

What are you afraid of?

You have me.

(Only by getting the dragon horns)

(can I save them.)

Help!

Who are you?

I hit someone.

Wait right there!

Come.

There are so many of them.

You don't need to bring so many.

Stop right there!

Hold it right there!

Stop!

After him!

Get him!

After him!

This monster is pretty smart.

If I could,

I'd like to make him

draw a pact of servitude with me.

We don't know his origin.

Don't trust him.

All right. Let's get out of here now.

Come on.

(Arena, Level 18)

The entrance to Level 18 is blocked.

My dragon horns

are inside.

(Tianxiang Workshop)

My dear nephew, what urgent matter

brings you here at this late hour?

Uncle,

I can't forget

the woman named Yanhui

that I saw today.

I think of her all the time.

So,

I could only come to bother you.

Uncle.

Ridiculous.

Don't reject me

just yet.

This Arena is a place

for making profits after all.

Why not sell that woman

and her familiar to me?

You want the familiar too?

Lucky Carp is adorable.

Adorable?

All monsters in the world

are despicable

and hateful criminals.

Qianshuo,

don't forget

how your parents

and my wife and children

were cruelly killed

by monsters.

When you turned 20,

I gave you this painting...

(Parental Love)

as a reminder of this vengeance.

So you can join me

and kill all the monsters in the world.

It has only been a few years,

but you have become so ridiculous.

Are you certain

my parents were killed by the familiars?

My dear nephew,

what do you mean by that?

I may be a child

when my parents passed away.

But I still remember

that my father was in charge

of the Feng family.

After your wife and children's mishap,

you've repeatedly suggested building a place

to retaliate against monsters.

But my father refused.

It wasn't until he died

that you took over the Feng family

and used several generations of the Feng family's wealth

to build this Arena.

If I wanted to pursue this,

shouldn't I be the one

who inherits the Feng family's property?

Why do I have

to grovel and beg you

just for one familiar?

What are you doing?

Since there's

a commotion upstairs,

who cares if there's a Starpoint Formation?

After I break this door

and retrieve your horns,

we'll get out of here.

Break?

How are you going to break it?

With my strong fists.

What kind of look are you giving me?

Listen here.

I've already reached

the peak of my martial arts skills.

Breaking through this wall

is not a problem.

Move aside.

Or you might get splattered with blood.

Wait.

It's Heaven-Repairing Stone.

If you could break it with your fist,

the whole sky would have collapsed.

Heaven-Repairing Stone?

This arena went to great lengths

to obtain the Heaven-Repairing Stone

for the sake of constructing this mystical formation.

If we take a bit of it back,

we can sell it for a lot of money.

Watch out!

Are you trying to get yourself killed?

I didn't know he had hidden the formation

within the door.

He actually set a formation

within the Heaven-Repairing Stone.

It was a very sneaky move.

There are more traps!

Wind dissolves ice, Heavenly Fire illuminates the cavern.

Obey!

Get inside the barrier now.

Can't you make it bigger?

With my current dragon bone power,

I can't break this formation.

I need you

to use the power of your mind's eye

to melt it.

You want me to learn it now?

Recall the feeling

of using your mind's eye

to defeat Shebishi last time.

Remember my hand seal.

With my dragon's knowledge...

With my dragon's knowledge...

With my breath...

With my breath...

With my undying body...

With my undying body...

And with the never-ending wildfire...

And with the never-ending wildfire...

Attack!

Attack!

I have also been practicing

a little on my own.

It's true that I have some spiritual power.

But

I can only use so much.

Why don't we

think of another way?

After all these years,

are you trying to accuse me

of fratricide?

Of course not, Uncle.

I won't fight you

over the inheritance.

I just want the familiar.

Why make things difficult for me?

What exactly is the background

of the master and familiar

that you're so desperate to own them?

Uncle, just tell me if you're selling or not.

If you really want them,

I can make an exception.

But you'll have to trade them with Qijue Agency.

Uncle, you must be joking.

What does Qijue Agency have to do with me?

At this point,

there's no need to hide from me anymore.

My dear nephew,

there are no secrets in this world.

I must unlock your mind's eye

to activate more Heart Protecting Scale's power.

If you're worried...

It's fine. Stop wasting time and do it now.

Can you feel it now?

It seems

to have opened.

There is a small pond

in my mind's eye.

Let's make do with that.

Follow my breathing

and feel the surge of spiritual power in your body.

Harness your energy.

Form the seal.

With my dragon's knowledge...

With my dragon's knowledge...

-with my breath, -with my breath,

-with my undying body, -with my undying body,

and with the never-ending wildfire.

And with the never-ending wildfire.

Attack!

Attack!

(The power of dragon fire.)

Let us out!

Let us out!

Let us out!

Uncle, the place is collapsing.

No.

I should leave now.

Mother, look.

It's raining monsters.

Miss,

it seems that someone has beaten us to it.

Don't wait here.

Take advantage of the chaos,

bring Twelve Young Misters,

and rescue these monsters

back to the underground palace.

Yes.

Mr. Feng?

-Mr. Feng! -Mr. Feng!

What are you doing here?

I've been looking for you everywhere.

Hurry back

before anyone notices you.

Feng Ming has close ties

with the Guanghan Sect.

The Arena was blown up,

they will investigate and pursue this matter to the end.

I don't want you to be implicated.

I won't go back.

I won't sit by and watch them die.

These are just a group of monsters.

If you

get involved now,

the Guanghan Sect will surely...

That's enough.

We don't have time to argue.

Yuli, send him

back to Qijue Agency.

Then we'll take action immediately.

Yes.

You...

Yanhui.

Yanhui.

Yanhui!

Yanhui.

Get up now.

Are you all right?

I'm all right.

I didn't know.

I would be that powerful.

I also didn't expect

the small pond of your mind's eye

could produce such power.

It turns out that using the mind's eye spiritual energy

is so exhausting.

I feel a little dizzy now.

Are those

the dragon horns?

What is this?

Suying?

This is...

it's Suying's primordial spirit.

Let's get out of here.

The evil dragon, Tianyao.

You're finally here.

Suying's cultivation technique

has become so powerful.

I never thought you would walk right into my trap.

Hand over the Heart Protecting Scale.

Bai Xiaosheng, are you all right?

I'm glad both of you are still alive.

We must go now.

Yanhui.

-Yanhui. -Xiange?

Xiange, what are you doing here?

I heard you took part in the beast gladiatorial game.

I was worried something might happen to you.

Come with me now.

Let's go.

Come on.

Master.

Master.

Immortal,

where's Master Suying?

She's cultivating.

No one should disturb her.

I'm glad she's fine.

A mere spell like this

can never hurt Master Suying.

But your arena

actually let the evil dragon enter

without anyone's notice.

Forgive me.

The Arena

has always been heavily guarded.

Such a mistake would never happen.

The evil dragon that blew up the Arena

and managed to infiltrate the Arena

must have

something to do with my nephew,

Feng Qianshuo.

Feng Qianshuo?

Yes, it's him.

He repeatedly asked me

for the master and the familiar.

He even deliberately lured me away today.

I originally thought

he wanted a plaything.

I didn't expect him to collude with those spirits.

It's unforgivable.

I warned you

to be careful of this person.

But you were still so careless.

Immortal, please forgive me.

Now,

we can find out the whereabouts of the evil dragon

if we can catch Feng Qianshuo.

However,

he has been growing his power behind my back

over the years.

With my power alone,

I'm afraid...

You've failed so many times.

And you still have the nerve to find excuses.

Forget it.

I'll send the disciples

to assist you.

I won't let you down this time.

I'll take my leave now.

Congratulations, ma'am.

The elixir

that will restore Mr. Lu's memory

has finally been refined.

The evil dragon infiltrated this place.

Yet, the Guanghan Sect's disciples stationed here

were completely unaware.

Today, all disciples who were guarding the place today

will have one of their Immortal Stars stripped away

and tell them to cultivate all over again.

Yes, ma'am.

This evil dragon achieves such power

by just retrieving the dragon's bones.

There was also

a man and a woman with him.

Go and find out.

I want to know who they are.

Yes, ma'am.

-What is this? -What's that?

Ma'am, you trapped the entire city of Yongzhou

with the power of the Dragon Horn Formation.

Starting today, I want all of you

to search every house in the entire city of Yongzhou

to find the evil dragon.

(I want them to have no place to hide.)
