So the idea of, like, a panel,

where does that take you immediately?

I'm thinking, like, instructional, infomercials,

and, like, Steve Jobs

I have never been on a panel,

but I'm not scared to talk to people.

I worked in customer service since I was, like, 13.

There's an art form to being a very salty barista,

and I am an extremely salty barista.

"Select a moderator to drive the conversation."

First of all, what's a moderator?

A moderator is someone who basically, like, delegates

and puts, like, the direction of the conversation.

And, like, making sure that, like,

we're engaging with each other.

If possible, I would love to take the moderator role.

No, no, no, no.

Not today.

Are you gonna be able to cut off whenever it's not, like...

Yes. In terms of that,

I'm, like, able to give you guys rooms and things like that,

and then if there's, like, a little, like, dead space,

I could always fill in time with things like that.

Here's the thing. Jasmine knows how to talk,

but a moderator also needs to know when to stop talking.

- I feel like... - Well, it feels like...

Bosco, what are you thinking about?

Right now, I am kind of feeling the moderator role,

if that isn't stepping on anybody's toes

- for the most part. - Work.

And Bosco, if you were to open,

No, I'd rather work collaborative as a team

and make it better than just try to take it

just because I was in the bottom two last week

- and trying to, like, stand out. - Great.

It has always been a challenge for me

not to over-talk or overrun a conversation.

Since this is a talking challenge,

my biggest struggle in this

is going to make sure that I am talking enough,

but I'm also not over-talking others.

Hey, mamikins.

Hey, mama.

Now, is it raining menzes up in here?

- Up in here! - Oh, yes!

Eew!

Team Willow, come on over.

So we're talking about menzes.

Yes.

Tell me some of the topics

that you will be covering with this panel.

Well, we wanted to do a mixture of having a lot of fun

and interjecting a lot of comedy,

but also some serious stuff.

So, like, fatherhood is a great place

for us to tell about our stories,

and so we wanna have a great ebb and flow of entertainment,

but also realness.

Ebb and flow. They used to live down the street from me.

Yeah, they were whores. Yeah.

So what is the theses of your father talk?

What's your relationship like with your father?

- I don't talk to my father. - Why not?

When we were 14, he up and left us.

And my mother suffers with bipolar and schizophrenia,

so she couldn't take care of herself, let alone two children.

And so, who took care of the family after that?

We kind of separated.

My mother and my brother moved somewhere else,

and then I was taken in by a guardian.

And he really kind of gave me

the father that I've always longed for.

Yeah. Wow.

So who's been to DragCon? Raise your hand.

So, Angeria, you've never been.

Get the fuck out.

Now, who's also been to panels?

I've actually done a panel before.

At another Con?

How dare you!

No, but I've done panels in pageants.

And how did that go?

I did not win the category.

Why didn't you win?

My strategy then was to kind of wait and then speak.

The person that did win,

they were more straight out the gate, this is what I think.

Well, I think that's a good point you brought up,

because a lot of times when people are in these situations,

and this comes up for people who may be shy,

you think, oh, I have to act a certain kind of way.

Just be yourself.

Talk like you're talking to your friends.

It has to be fluid and conversational.

Camden, I can see

there's a tentativeness in your demeanor.

What is it that you're afraid of people finding out about you?

I don't know.

Like, I'm afraid of, like, sometimes looking stupid.

Okay, number one, let's just sit on that for a minute.

You don't have time to be studying other people,

what they're thinking.

But we let that other voice get in the way.

Just be yourself.

When you were performing One Way or the Other,

where you're doing this thing where you...

and you were interpreting and all that stuff,

connect to that.

Apply that to everything,

and you'll win yourself some more fucking challenges.

Yeah.

This is one of those challenges

where I could just recoil and tense up and, like, bomb.

I need to not do

the Homer Simpson disappearing into the bushes.

This is an opportunity for us to really get in there

and look under the hood

and see how this engine of masculinity works.

Still have fun with it,

but make sure that people walk away from your panel

with some real, tangible information.

I feel like Ru is looking at me, going, bitch.

She's looking for that same looseness

and, like, crazy freedom

that I felt I had as Freddie Mercury.

Okay, Bosco, Daya Betty, Jorgeous, Jasmine.

So we're talking about menzes.

Yes, our favorite subject.

I know it's your favorite subject.

What about you, Daya Betty? Have you been in a relationship?

Yeah, I've been in a relationship for five years.

With Satan?

With Satan, yeah, yeah.

Uh-huh. What's Satan like in bed?

Actually, not that good.

Very disappointing, to be honest, Ru.

Are you all getting along well?

How are you two getting along?

We're doing pretty good.

I know, we always are at each other's throat,

- back and forth, but... - Why is that?

We're not at each other's throat.

Not... Frenemy-ish.

We're not at each other's throat.

What are you?

Sometimes she just doesn't know when to shut her mouth.

Yeah, and sometimes she likes

to comment on things that don't need to be commented on.

And sometimes she likes to talk over people.

- Exactly. - Uh-huh.

In a way, she's like a little sister...

- Yeah. - That I wanna bash her head

into the concrete floor.

But there's a part of me that loves her.

So now this is interesting,

because there's a panel where you're all talking and stuff.

How will you be able to take a slice of the pie

and then leave some for the rest of the kids?

I think it's honestly

by kind of how I'm formatting my situation.

I'm gonna be not necessarily dominating the conversation,

but more kind of being, like,

the person they come to with the question,

if that makes sense.

Doesn't make sense.

Now, have you workshopped this topic enough?

You know, if you were in Lou Grant's newsroom...

Don't question my reference...

You would go, you know, let's hear all the ideas,

put them all on the table, and let's sort through

to find out the ones that pack the most power.

Now, this has gotta be fun, because this is DragCon.

But you have to be able to hit some points

so that the people listening have some takeaway from this.

In fact, Jorgeous, have you learned anything about men

in this workshop that you didn't know?

No, honestly.

I would worry about that.

Your relationship to femininity,

it's very clear cut.

Where does that come from?

Ever since I was five years old I always grew up dancing,

and, like, I watched ninja movies,

and I was always in tune with my body ever since I was younger.

There's baby pictures of me posing as a... like...

I know there are.

And I'm just, like, with my hip out.

Did your father say, "Boy, don't you do that"?

Yes. I used to walk around on my tiptoes,

and my grandpa and my dad

used to get so mad at me for doing that.

Really? And why do you think that is?

I feel like because

they didn't want me to be feminine whatsoever.

- Because? - I don't know why.

Like, I was just doing me.

I was just having fun.

I just felt comfortable with myself.

Now, this is good shit right here.

These are the kinds of things I want you to workshop.

I mean, this right now

is an opportunity for you to dig deep

and sort it all out, get it on the table.

Give us some takeaway with this thing.

Otherwise, you might be lip syncing this week.

Ru's definitely stressing

It's hard to say how this will go.

I don't think my team

has the utmost confidence in me in this challenge,

but I am very much for the team,

and I am going to take the critiques and dial it back.

I feel like I am on the right track.

Something I've definitely, like, learned a lot

from, like, creating,

is to not get attached to anything.

If something's not working, drop it.

Your brain is capable of coming up with new ideas.

I definitely learned that being here, honestly.

'Cause, like, bitch, we rehearse something

Who is your celebrity crush?

Blake Lively.

Blake... that's a...

You mean Blake Shelton?

Oh. Blake Shelton.

You didn't even get the man's name right.

Aah!

I love Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

- Baby! - Yes!

I need a man that can handle a loveseat or a futon or two,

if you know what I mean.

I have noticed in the recent years, though,

dad bod has kind of become the quintessential ideal body,

and that's gonna lead me to fatherhood.

Now, Miss Angeria,

how was your relationship with your father?

Well, I actually have an amazing relationship with my dad.

He's accepted me being gay and doing drag,

and that is a lot, especially where I come from.

You know, I'm from Sparta, Georgia, baby,

and that is very rare,

and I just feel like there are men out there

who are led to believe that loving your gay child

somehow makes you less masculine.

Well, I'm here to tell you that it does not.

Period. What about you, Willow?

Well, my dad died when I was 11.

- Oh, babe. - And it was hard

because we'd had a rocky relationship.

I could tell that he knew that I was gay.

And it's not hard when, you know,

I'd run around wearing a sequined headband as a bra.

Does it still fit?

Yeah, I wore it for my entrance.

Completely.

I just wanna say to, like, any parents out there,

don't wait to embrace your child

or figure out what's going on with them.

Just do it now.

'Cause there might not be a later.

Life took that away from me and my dad.

What about you, Camden?

You know, I'll admit

I definitely hid a lot of who I am

from my dad from a young age.

And so I always lived in this fear

of what he would say, what he was thinking.

So I almost trained myself to be cautious.

A lot of those feelings came back up

when I started to do drag.

I felt very, like,

I don't want him to know who this is.

When he found out, he called me up

and he said, "I love you,

but I'm so heartbroken that you held this from me."

So I think sometimes it's up to the child

to be open and willing and ready to receive that love,

'cause sometimes your fear is holding you back,

which it was for me, so...

I actually do not have

a relationship with my father at all.

I do remember specifically I was eight years old,

and I remember calling a boy cute.

My dad chased me around the yard, beat my ass,

and told me, "You do not say that about a boy,

because I'm not gonna raise a pussy."

And that stuck with me

up until maybe I was 18 when I came out,

even though the world knew, hello, I am gay.

And I'm so glad we're having this conversation,

because it's not the child's responsibility

to make their parent feel comfortable.

Also, I wanna see more dads in drag.

Yes, yes, more drag queens that look like DeJa.

Yes.

Now, who's single?

Oh, okay, we all lonely. Got it.

Now, Willow, is this by choice?

Yeah, I mean, I've never had sex or been in a relationship

because I only do anal.

Okay.

No, on a serious note, I do find dating difficult,

because out of drag, I'm not a very confident person.

I have a chronic illness,

and it makes me look really young

and a little, like, sickly.

So I feel like out of drag,

I look like a sad Victorian doll.

And then in drag, I look like a sad Victorian doll,

but with whore makeup.

And then I also have a disability

in my fingers and my wrists,

so I give really bad handjobs, which is tragic.

- I heard that about you. - Yeah.

You know something that I think is so difficult

about dating these days?

Hooking up.

And I think it's because

you don't see many men working for it.

Getting sex these days is like ordering a pizza.

You just call it in

and it shows up at your door 15 minutes,

hot and ready.

All right, let's open the floor for some final thoughts.

Well, we called this Men: A Work in Progress

because it really is.

I mean, this is all fun to talk and joke about,

but this is gonna be work for generations to come,

so that the people coming don't have to feel

a lot of this pain that we've talked about it.

And we talk about it in a fun, humorous way,

but the pain really is there,

and we don't want that for the rest of the world.

- Not at all. - It's gonna take a lot of work.

And to my dads out there that are listening,

man up, take responsibility, and love your child.

And if you need a date, call DeJa.

And if you're Blake Lively, don't call me.

Don't call Camden.

Well, thank you guys so much

for joining us for our DragCon panel.

I wanna thank our panelists.

Thank you guys, Camden, Willow, and Angeria,

and, of course, I was your host, Miss DeJa Skye.

Good night.

I think that my team knocked it out of the park.

I don't know what the other team finna be giving,

but they definitely got some competition on this one.

RuPaul's DragCon presents our next panel.

Welcome to the second panel of the day,

Electric Boogaloo Part II,

now with more men.

When I think of men, so many questions come to mind.

Questions like, why?

For what?

And honestly?

So I'm gonna need a little bit of help.

Let's meet our panel.

We have the multifaceted yet complex talents of Daya Betty.

Thank you for that introduction.

You're so welcome.

The incredibly quiet and subtle Jasmine Kennedie.

Who, me? Hi, y'all.

And maybe she's born with it,

or maybe she's born for this.

It's Jorgeous.

Hello-teous!

And I will be your moderator today, Bosco.

Let's talk about how men navigate the world

in a section I'd like to call you've got male... privilege.

Jasmine, do you think it's easier for men than...

Oh, my God, yes.

Oh, my God, men have it so much easier than women.

I can go on a tangent,

but I'm gonna keep it short and sweet for y'all.

Thank God.

But basically, male privilege is kind of this thing

that's kind of fundamental in society.

It's taught to us at a very, very young age.

If you could take it back to, like, middle school,

men have the privilege to kind of wear

and get to do whatever they wanted to do.

But women, I mean, God forbid if they wore a spaghetti strap

or a skirt a little too low.

You know, I think right now in society

we put too much pressure on how women...

Or children or women are supposed to look.

Like, the dress code isn't there technically,

so I think it should really be taught

that a woman can wear whatever she wants,

and she shouldn't be judged for it.

I remember being at parties,

hearing guys talk about, you know, their numbers,

how many girls they slept with.

And everyone was rallying around them,

being like, "Yeah, bro," you know, that kind of thing.

And if a girl were to be doing that,

she was slut-shamed immediately.

And that's kind of something that is taught at a young age

and brought into adulthood, unfortunately.

Oh, so what we're trying to say

is this is something that follows them from boys to men.

Nineties dab.

I don't think every man is just, like, walking around,

like, utilizing their male privilege as a weapon.

I feel like a lot of it

comes from, like, a societal expectation,

and I feel like sometimes that expectation is internalized

and turns into something that Britney Spears might call toxic,

which is gonna bring us to our next topic,

which is toxic masculinity.

I feel like drag queens

have a very nuanced relationship with toxic masculinity.

Jorgeous, I wanna talk to you in particular.

You've told me that your dad is, like,

a really big fan of you and your drag.

Has he always been so supportive of your feminine side?

Honestly, I knew about toxic masculini...

Toxic masculinity at a very young age.

I mean, when my mom was crowning with me,

little did she know she was gonna get a big old queen.

And I used to walk around my house on my tiptoes,

with my hip out, dancing all over the place,

and my dad and grandpa really tried to suppress that

at a really young age,

and I never really understood why

until doing this panel and being here at DragCon.

It was all out of fear.

And honestly, he came to one of my shows,

he saw how happy it made me,

he saw that the people that I was around were so positive,

and he saw the money that I was making, too,

to take care of myself.

And after the show, he was like,

"You know what? That's my boy."

Like, "I'm so very proud of him."

When I came out, my parents

were like, "Okay, we can still love you,

but, like, don't talk about it."

My dad in particular was like,

"Don't talk about it. I don't want you to be unsafe.

I don't want your siblings to be unsafe."

And I feel like that came from a place of fear,

and that made him feel insecure in his masculinity,

and it made him feel scared for me.

And, like, I feel like my dad's, like, on the right track.

Like, he loves me, he's supportive,

but, like, he's still not quite there.

Like, he still calls drag my dancing.

He hasn't gone to my shows.

So I feel like drag is, like,

the antidote to this toxic masculinity, though.

I think he just needs to see all of this,

and then, like, we'll really get to that next step.

Bitch, if you're toxitive... Toxic and masculine, bitch,

meet me outside in the parking lot.

I have a couple words for y'all.

She's small and feisty! You better werk!

Well, I feel like we've spent a lot of time

kind of bashing on men so far, so I wanna flip this around.

Sorry 'bout it.

So we've talked about turn-offs.

Let's take this to turn-ons for our final segment.

Hot menzeseses. I believe that's plural.

Let's turn this over to our resident dick dog, Daya Betty.

That's me! Yes, thank you.

Yeah, you're an expert on this, girl.

- Thank you. - Tell me what turns you on.

Well, okay, the first turn-on I remember was watching WWE.

You got the Chris Jerichos,

the Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, DeJa.

You know, John Cena.

I was always so enthralled

watching them on the TV,

getting nose-to-nose, drenched in sweat.

You know, they wore little, tiny outfits,

and I always noticed they had rock-hard nipples.

- Okay. - I made it my mission.

Like, the first week in college,

I'm like, I'm gonna find my WWE Smackdown wrestler.

Now, right now, at this point of my life,

I need a man with a mind like Bill Nye the Science Guy,

and then someone with nipples like Carson Kressley.

Thank you for noticing.

Jasmine, what about you, my friend?

My turn-ons? Oh, my God.

Yeah, tell me what turns you on.

I mean, I know this is, like, geeky,

but I love a gamer.

I love someone who gets down, you know, at 12:00 at night,

just gaming all night.

It's just, like, I don't know, it's my favorite.

- Miss Jorgeous? - Oh, my God.

Tell me about your turn-ons.

I love a guy who's way taller than me.

I like to feel small and itty-bitty.

How are you gonna find a guy taller than you?

You're really asking for the world over here.

But I love my guys with...

You know?

I like my guys a little bit, like, heftier and furrier.

Like, if y'all are building a man,

I'm building a bear, for sure.

Like, that's what does it for me.

I like somebody who's like a loveseat that walks around.

Thank you so much for joining us for our panel,

Electric Boogaloo II, now with more men.

Ooh!

My name is Bosco.

We have Jorgeous, Jasmine, and Daya Betty.

Thank you so much.

Thank y'all. Thank y'all so much!

Category is Shoulder Pads.

Up first, DeJa Skye.

Whoo, girl, she plays linebacker

for Team Coco Chanel, darling.

I am giving a nod to Chanel,

a nod to linebackers.

I'm trying not to walk like the Tin Man,

because the jacket is very stiff.

I feel absolutely silly and slammin'.

I'm talkin' square bids to you, baby.

I own 51% of this football team.

Lady Camden.

A nutcracker.

That's what they called me in high school.

Get those nutcrackers away from my face!

I am giving you

every ballet dancer's nightmare,

The Nutcracker! Yes!

I'm transforming from little old man nutcracker

to beautiful temptress of the night.

I am just glistening, glittering, new set of lips.

When all are asleep and there's no noise in the house,

not even a peep from a mouse,

she comes to life, honey, and she comes after your man!

Honey, she's going to epaulette you have it!

Willow Pill.

Apparently, the stock market has spiked.

I wanted to bring a look

It's like I'm the manager of an evil pop group

that's taking over the world,

and our name is Willow and the Pills,

something that screams edge and punk

and is equally in the past and in the future.

It's business, it's sex, it's power,

and, of course, there's always an element of camp.

Yes, honey, I think she's on those Willow red pills.

Attaché, you stay.

Angeria.

Shoulder pads, check.

Houndstooth, check. Crown, check.

Ooh, I'm seeing a pattern here.

I wanna show the judges right now

that I can go all the way outside of my box.

So I am giving you a full Club Kid houndstooth fantasy.

I done put on me

a nice, sickening black lip for the kids.

I really want to sell this whole fantasy.

Now it's time for the judges' critiques.

Up first, DeJa Skye.

DeJa! You comin' for Whoopi's gig at The View?

Because you kept it moving, but also it was funny.

Also, it was, like, educational and heartfelt.

I was, like, tee hee hee. Ooh, wow, you know?

I think you did a really good job at keeping it moving.

There were moments that you felt a little stiff to me,

but when you gave into it, it was great.

Keep loosening up. Keep giving in to it.

Carson, did Michelle say,

"Keep loosening up, keep giving in to it?"

Yes, yes.

It's, like, I feel like I say that a lot.

Where'd my stool go?

This look is what I live for,

So I feel like you could have gone bigger with this look.

It's gorgeous, I love the construction of it.

Of course, I love the crystal pinstripe.

I just want more shoulder pad, too.

I give really bad handjobs.

Like, you know a setup and you know a punch,

and, like, you were honest.

- Thank you. - You were just so relatable.

You still allowed natural room to laugh and joke about it

but you have clearly transcended it,

and that's when it becomes a blast.

It is a blast.

You get more and more fierce every time you come out here.

Just fabulous.

You're 22, damn it.

I want that playfulness.

I do feel like you did recede a little bit.

Up next, Daya Betty.

Let's talk about your panel performance.

I thought you were very personable,

very relatable, very articulate.

Someone with nipples, like Carson Kressley.

I also really loved your outfit.

You truly were, like, drag! And everyone else was, like,

I'm a nice woman, it's a nice day.

I really enjoyed the conversation

about the WWE stuff...

Ooh.

Because wrestlers are drag queens.

- Uh-huh. - Yeah.

I mean, think about The Undertaker

and think about Ric Flair.

They were full drag.

WWE was, like, a thing

and so I feel like that does kind of come into play

- with my drag a little bit. - Sure.

It's a very special place in my heart.

It holds a very special place in my heart.

Yeah, I usually watch it with a fistful of lotion.

You, too? Okay.

Thank you, ladies, I think we've heard enough.

While you untuck in the werkroom,

Now, just between us squirrel friends,

I wanna know what you think.

DeJa Skye.

I thought she was so wonderful as the moderator.

She was so good at keeping the conversation flowing

- and not letting it lull. - She was fantastic tonight.

And I thought she looked beautiful

during the panel.

Honestly, I wanna see more.

Willow Pill.

She looked really sweet and demure,

and she was cutting bitches left and right.

Her jokes are hilarious,

and she knows where to insert them.

I love that she gives us wildly different looks every time.

She definitely has a style, but it's never the same look.

I do wish there was, you know, more shoulder pad,

but I don't care, I like her.

- Bosco. - She is so witty.

If DeJa Skye was, like, commercial moderating,

Bosco is, like, ooh, nightclub, edgy moderating if you will.

Why?

She was very funny, very dry.

Bosco was fantastic.

I just laughed from the very beginning.

Clearly the stand-out from her group.

Jorgeous.

Our little Jorgeous got sucked up

in that panel, and we lost her.

She needs to learn how to lay into those flaws and use them,

like a Chrissy Snow or a Goldie Hawn would,

to build a character.

The panel look, the hairline for me was very distracting.

There was a lot of makeup at the hairline.

Not good.

Tonight, not a good night for Jorgeous.

Jasmine Kennedie.

On the panel, I don't understand

why she looked 45 instead of 22.

A bit magician-y with the cape.

It was like the Iron Lady

- does a bit of magic. - Yes. Yes, exactly.

The pearls are non-negotiable.

I think she is so fun and so endearing,

but tonight she felt a little stiff.

She's not quite as confident in who she is as a presenter.

- Daya Betty. - On the panel,

I thought she was really endearing, really sweet.

Wasn't the best, but it was interesting.

On the runway, yes, she did paint her face

house-down combat boots.

But the look for me was just so columnar.

Is that a word, when you look like just a column?

Oh, cylindrical?

- Sure, we'll go with that. - Okay.

Silence!

I've made my decision.
