I was trying to get this cane on the plane.
That rhymes.
But it wouldn't fit in my,
it wasn't even close to fitting in my suitcase.
So I just told the people that I twisted my ankle
and they let me take it on the plane.
Is that bad?
I mean, I had to (bleep) take it, you know?
Am I allowed to swear? I'm not allowed to swear.
You can swear. Okay.
(upbeat music)
Hello, I am lady Camden, I'm 31 years old.
I'm originally from Camden town in north London.
Lady Camden, because sometimes
I like to be regal, refined from the ballet world,
and then sometimes I'm just trash from Camden.
Growing up, my dad was a manager
of a nightclub in Camden town.
I kind of spent a lot of time there as a kid,
surrounded by nightlife.
A lot of party animals out in the street,
showing off looks, looking eccentric.
I had a very fun and pretty gay upbringing.
I moved over to America to join a ballet company
in Sacramento, California.
And then shortly after that,
I moved to San Francisco and caught the drag bug.
I think I have a pretty good,
not represent, what is the word?
Reputation. (Lady Camden laughing)
Sorry, it's American, I don't understand it.
It's just a hard for me to translate.
It's funny, I feel like I represent San Francisco in a way
because I don't.
I know that sounds really stupid and backwards,
but I sort of fit in because we all kind of stand out
in a weird way there.
I sort of like to imagine myself
as the sixth member of the Spice Girls,
you know, Garbage Spice.
I'm sort of like trained ballerina meets '90s pop princess.
I love a lot of color and glitter
and I like some countness once in a while,
and I like a bit of sexiness once in a while.
Yeah, I'm sort of a bit all over the place.
You know, I think when I first meet people,
they think I'm really posh because of the English accent
and that I'm really educated.
But quite contrary to the opinion,
I'm a dumb bitch. (Lady Camden laughing)
I think the strangest thing about me
is that I don't really know how to drive.
(Lady Camden laughing)
I'm 31 and I don't really know how to drive.
I have my license, but when I got my license,
that was the last time that I was behind the wheel.
So don't ask me for a ride unless you want your car towed.
I bring a sort of like British grit to my drag
as well as American sass and confidence.
So I think in that, I am unique.
(upbeat music)
"Meet The Queens", Lady Camden, ABC marker.
I think I'm nervous for a roast
or something where there's comedic writing
where the stakes are kind of high
'cause you're the only person on stage.
And if it's quiet, it is the most quiet thing
you've ever heard in your life.
That's probably what I'm a bit nervous about.
I think I'm kind of goofy and all that (beep)
so I feel like maybe I can rise to the occasion,
but I'm nervous about that, for sure.
I'm nervous for the crickets
to be louder than everything else.
I consider myself very competitive.
Sometimes it takes me by surprise how competitive I get.
I get a little crazy about it.
I have high expectations for myself,
almost to the point where
it's just not really realistic sometimes.
Oh God, I hate conflict, honestly.
I know I should be like, I'm the (beep) these bitches
I'm just not.
My instinct reaction to conflict is,
hide, (Lady Camden laughing)
run.
I absolutely came to win, bitch.
Yes.
Oh my God.
I'm so excited to be on U S "Drag Race",
and I think it's for a reason.
Let's see, do I think lady Camden
is the winner of season 14?
In my heart? Yes, 100%.
I think a crown would look great on top of this hat
that's already a zip tied to my wig.
(Director chuckling)
My life has just been so nice, so to be on "Drag Race"
just feels like such an amazing, full circle moment.
It just feels like I'm where I'm meant to be, you know?
I am America's next drag superstar
because I have a fire and passion in my heart
that is so insane and so ready to take over this world.
I am British grit meets American stardom.
This has been my dream from years and years.
I dunno, I just feel like I have something special
to show you all.
Yay.
