Miaomiao.

Both of you should stop fighting.

Since you can't come to a conclusion,

it's not right for me to stay at Song's Residence.

Miao.

Of course,

it's worse for me to stay at Pei's Residence.

I'm going back to Shen's Residence.

Sir!

Miao.

Listen to me.

Official Pei must be joking.

It wasn't a joke.

This baby is a sign that our fate hasn't ended yet.

We can start all over again.

Where were you

before you came to find me?

You knew about it?

I was in the capital, asking His Majesty to issue an edict

so I can...

Enough.

Official Pei.

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear.

If this baby isn't yours,

it's fine.

If this baby is yours,

it's none of your business.

I will be responsible of the baby.

I promised your father

and you.

No need.

The Shen family and I

don't need you to take this responsibility.

Farewell.

Miao.

Let go.

Miao.

Let go!

Pei Yanzhen.

Your wound.

You rushed back through the night from the capital to Lingzhou.

Your wound has opened up again.

If you still want to live,

you should go back to rest.

It's fine.

Don't let Song Xiyuan find out.

Hold me.

Let's go.

Let's go!

Young Master.

Are we not going to chase after Madam?

If we don't get rid of Pei Yanzhen,

chasing after her won't solve the problem.

Mother.

How can you do this?

The royal guards

attempted assassination

on a court official at the Royal Post.

If the news of this goes out,

what will happen to my reputation?

He tried to alienate the two of us

without lifting a finger.

Pei Yanzhen is really something.

That's not what I meant.

Why don't you think about it?

If Pei Yanzhen

is really innocent,

why did he keep martial arts experts by his side?

A dozen of royal guards went there

and none of them came back alive.

Can't you see

his intention?

Mother.

Last year, there were two floods.

There were many issues.

Uncle asked for a huge amount of money

from me for three straight months.

If you want to do something nice,

you can restrict the Qin family.

Why do you care about

Pei Yanzhen's background?

Sorry, Mother.

I was speaking out of turn.

I know

you haven't been satisfied with your uncle's control over the royal court.

But think about it.

Without him,

how could you sit on this throne?

I also know about

the empty treasury.

I called you here today

for this exact issue.

Someone.

Summon him here.

I am Song Xiyuan.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Greetings, Your Highness.

Song Xiyuan?

Are you the owner of Song's Trading Company

and Shen's new husband?

It is me.

Son.

Song Xiyuan is very loyal.

He has donated

a year of his company's profit.

Take a look.

This is the list.

I am lucky

to serve Your Majesty.

Song Xiyuan.

I heard there was something interesting in your family recently.

It's just a family issue.

You shouldn't be concerned, Your Highness.

What a coincidence.

The palace has an imperial physician who excels in gynecology.

Why don't I ask him to go back to Lingzhou with you

and take a look at your wife?

Perhaps the truth will come to light.

In that case,

you have my thanks, Your Highness.

Don't worry.

I am standing on your side after all.

Are you serious?

Of course.

Lvying.

The grapes are sweet.

Bring me two more bunches.

Yes.

Eating grapes is good for the baby's skin.

But who is the father?

Even the famous Lingzhou physicians

and Shen Residence's private physicians

have no idea.

How would I know?

But I think

we shouldn't concern about this.

Let's think about it when the Pei and Song families

stop fighting.

No way.

This is an offspring of the Shen family after all.

Miao.

I'm here.

If Song Xiyuan is willing,

you'll spend your life with him.

If he isn't,

divorce him and come home.

What?

I'm telling both of you.

You can joke about anything

but a divorce.

Do you want Miaomiao to become an old single lady?

Why not?

I thought about it.

I have no hope of becoming a leech at home.

I can't rely on you two

so I can only rely on myself.

Father.

Didn't you say

the silk store lacks a manager?

Do you think I'm suitable?

Not at all.

Miaomiao.

You are pregnant

and will soon become a mother.

From tomorrow onwards,

you shouldn't go anywhere.

Just stay here and nurture your fetus.

Isn't that a torture for me?

I might as well stay in Song's Residence.

Why did I return to Shen's Residence?

It is dangerous to give birth.

You need to be well-prepared from now on.

That's right.

When the baby is born,

we can count the days

and know who the father is.

You'll become a mother soon.

Stop running around.

Stay here.

Father, say something.

I can't help you.

I've never given birth before.

You know nothing.

Let me tell you.

Listen to your aunt

regarding the back of the residence.

Father, I...

Father!

Miaomiao.

Be good.

Aunt.

No, Your Highness!

You can't enter!

Move!

How dare you stop me.

Yanzhen.

How are you?

Your Highness.

Official Pei is injured and just had new medicine applied.

He is resting.

Please don't disturb him.

Why did he get injured?

Didn't he go to the palace to ask Brother to grant him a marriage?

Did Brother beat him up?

Grant a marriage?

Your Highness, you've misunderstood.

Official Pei was...

What happened to him?

Who are you?

Looking at your outfit,

you must be a low-ranked guard.

I want to ask you

how you protected him

and got him injured.

Me, a low-ranked guard?

How dare you.

How dare you address yourself as "me"?

Go and get yourself punished.

Guard.

Leave immediately.

Pei Yanzhen.

I can't help you anymore.

It's every man for himself.

Yanzhen.

Yanzhen.

What are you doing?

Yanzhen,

you're awake?

Zhan Yue.

Zhan Yue!

Are you talking about the low-ranked guard?

I chased him away.

What?

How did you come inside?

Yanzhen.

We are going to be married.

You can tell me anything.

Married?

Didn't you go to the capital

to become my husband?

Didn't you get injured

because Brother and Mother beat you up

as they would miss me?

Yanzhen.

You are hurt

and still need to rest.

I've let Your Highness down.

I went to the capital

to ask His Majesty to take back his edict.

I have never

had any feelings for Your Highness since the beginning.

Is it because of Shen Miao?

I knew it.

I knew that's the case.

She is still clinging to you.

Your Highness.

This has nothing to do with Shen Miao.

Don't cause trouble for Shen Miao anymore.

Wasn't it enough at the bamboo forest last time?

Fine.

Pei Yanzhen.

You will regret this sooner or later.

Seriously.

A heartbroken lady

is scarier than a martial arts expert.

Zhan Yue.

Prepare a carriage for me.

You're still going out

in this condition?

Her Highness is reckless.

I'm afraid she will cause trouble for Miao.

Son.

Who do you think is the father of the baby?

Mother.

I am not a physician.

I can't determine that.

However, Shen Miao

lacks virtue.

She involved two reputable families

in Lingzhou in a farce

on her own.

She should be punished.

Indeed.

But have you forgotten about the Lu family?

The baby that Shen Miao bears

is the successor of the Shen and Lu families.

Don't you think

Pei Yanzhen's intention

is more than the marriage itself?

If that is the case,

isn't Song Xiyuan's donation at the palace

a despicable act?

His marriage with Shen Miao

is also for his own benefit.

Well,

why don't we have a wager?

Let's see what Imperial Physician Xiao says.

If the baby belongs to the Song family,

Song Xiyuan's wealth and intelligence

can match Pei Yanzhen,

and he will become your loyal retainer.

What if Pei Yanzhen is the father?

Invite Shen Miao and her baby

into the palace and take good care of them.

Grant Pei Yanzhen a high position and salary

to become your right-hand man.

I agree with Mother's suggestion.

Great timing.

We are talking...

We are discussing Miao's baby.

Are you talking about

my baby with Miao?

Don't get so cocky.

His Majesty has issued an edict

to get Imperial Physician Xiao

to determine whether the baby belongs to the Song family

or some messed-up families.

There will be a result today.

Who is it? Are you blind?

Sorry.

Shen Miao?

Your Highness?

You...

You are a noble lady.

You...

Softer.

Don't attract my aunt.

Stop acting close.

I am the princess.

Help me up.

Fine.

Be careful.

Your Highness.

Why did you come to my house?

I do want to ask you

what's going on between you and Pei Yanzhen.

Two men

were intimate with you?

Your Highness.

You can't say that.

There was a sequence.

I don't care.

The baby must not be Pei Yanzhen's.

Otherwise,

I won't forgive you.

Don't worry.

Both of you are getting married soon.

I won't cause you trouble.

What's wrong?

It's all your fault.

Yanzhen is not willing to marry me.

He went to the capital to reject the marriage.

Shen Miao.

You are a vixen! The Helen of Troy!

Fine.

I'm a vixen.

I'm the Helen of Troy.

Stop crying.

Stop crying.

Later, everyone might...

Don't pretend to care for me.

Trying to get close to me?

It's not over yet between us!

Fine.

Shen Miao.

Where are you going?

Shopping.

I'm going too.

You might seduce Yanzhen

when I'm not around.

Lead the way.

Old Master Shen.

-Shen Miao is... -Imperial Physician Xiao.

It seems like you are a tea lover.

Why did you only take one sip?

This is eight-year-old Maojian Tea from Xinyang.

Take another sip.

You can only

taste its flavor when it's hot.

Try it.

See if it's rich and fragrant.

Sure.

How is it?

Good.

Is it nice?

I'll give you a refill.

What have you done?

Why didn't anyone welcome me

when I was here?

Your Highness.

I am the lady of the Shen family.

These stores belong to my family.

It is different when I shop here.

Show off.

Come.

(Shen's Inn) Let me show you our stores.

(Shen's Rice Shop) This is Shen's Rice Shop.

Let's go to another one.

(Shen's Rice Shop) Let's go to the one in front.

(Shen's Restaurant) Let's go.

All right.

This way.

(Shen's Accessories Store)

This?

This looks nice.

Yes.

Here.

Let me help you.

Look. This one?

Here?

This looks nice.

Give me another one.

Here?

Use all these fabrics to make clothes

for Her Highness.

Really?

It feels nice today.

I'll look for you again when I find some new fabrics

in two days.

Sure.

I'm going to organize a banquet when spring comes.

I'll ask Brother to find some good chefs

and cook up a feast.

I'll widen your horizon as a bumpkin.

Sure.

It's a promise.

(Conscience)

Call me when you go shopping again.

No problem.

Let me tell you.

-Miaomiao. -Miao.

Wait.

Why are all of you here?

Shen Miao,

do you know your crime?

Sir,

you are?

I am the Godly Physician.

The empire's physician for three eras.

Under His Majesty's order,

I'm here to determine your baby's father.

How dare you

ignore His Majesty's order.

You are being disrespectful

and frivolous.

Imperial Physician Xiao,

since my wife has returned,

let's not waste time.

His Majesty and Her Highness are waiting for you to report back.

Yes.

Come and sit down.

Miao.

Sit down.

Give me your hand.

(Curse my rotten luck.)

(My baby)

(is more precious than the emperor's seal.)

Your Highness.

Why are you here?

You should return.

Heartless man.

Why should I listen to you?

Shen Miao is my good friend.

I will stay here if I want to.

It's none of your business.

Godly Physician.

Do you have a result?

Are you kidding me?

The number of pregnant women I've seen

is more than the number of meals you had.

Do you think determining your pregnancy

is a challenge for me?

Tell me.

How many months have I been pregnant?

Three months.

Wait.

Why are you looking at me like this?

Three months?

Is it a baby of the Pei family or the Song family?

Say something.

Do you know?

The lady of the Shen family is pregnant.

Seriously?

It's true. Just from a few days ago.

How shameless.

Did you hear?

Shen Miao

doesn't even know who her baby's father is.

-Really? -Really?

Tie Niu.

Are we celebrating a festival?

I don't think so.

Everyone is gathered in the house.

Other people

might think my late father

gave me another brother.

Third Master Song.

Stop smiling like it's a joke.

Let me ask you.

What's going on with that illegitimate child

in Shen Miao's stomach?

Allow me to remind you.

Miaomiao is

the wife I married legally.

The term "illegitimate child"

is more suited for my fourth brother.

You...

Enough, Sister.

Speak less.

I'm sure Third Master doesn't feel good

with all the rumors in the city.

We watched you grow up.

We only care about you.

With the rumors going on around Lingzhou City,

the Song family cannot accept

the baby inside Shen's stomach.

Right now,

you should get a divorce

to protect the Song family's reputation.

You are right.

Chase Miaomiao and her baby out of this family

and stop the Shen family's aid.

Next, find a new messed-up wife

to cause chaos in our home.

That is the best solution.

What are you talking about?

I'm talking about the Song family's story.

To be clear,

aren't the two of you fighting to become the house master?

If you are capable,

snatch the position from me.

What nonsense are you saying?

Your father left the family business in your hands before he passed away

to protect us and our sons.

We'll let it go when you cause trouble usually.

With this incident now,

how do you want us to face other people?

Can you face your late father?

If you can,

get my late father to talk to me in person.

Aunts,

I'm busy so I'll be taking my leave.

Stop right there!

What?

Imperial Physician Xiao said she has been pregnant for three months?

(I ordered him to say four months.)

(How?)

Son.

Did you instruct Imperial Physician Xiao behind my back?

Didn't you instruct him behind my back

to give the baby to the Song family?

I was...

Where is Imperial Physician Xiao?

I want to ask him

what's going on.

Your Highness.

After the diagnosis,

Imperial Physician Xiao went missing.

I'm sure

he was afraid of getting punished by Your Highness and Your Majesty

so he escaped.

How absurd.

This...

This is all

Shen Miao's fault after all.

The morals of Lingzhou City

are getting worse.

Son.

Look at our plans.

It is ruined by Shen Miao.

If we don't get rid of her,

we can't make good use of Song Xiyuan and Pei Yanzhen.

Mother.

You can't do that.

I promised Yanzhen.

Besides,

didn't you want to use Song Xiyuan too?

I was only saying.

The Shen family's fortune

is useful as well.

(Shen's Rice Shop)

Excuse me!

Excuse me.

Sir, we are quite close.

Why are you free to come here today?

Stop acting close to us, Old Master Shen.

Let me tell you honestly.

Her Highness

ate some new rice offered by the Shen family.

In less than five minutes,

Her Highness was vomiting and had diarrhea.

She felt unwell.

His Majesty immediately ordered Shen's Rice Shop to be seized.

If Her Highness is fine, nothing will happen.

If something happens,

the Shen family will be in deep trouble.

This is injustice!

The Shen family

has been running an honest business.

There won't be any mistakes.

Please inform His Majesty.

Tell him the Shen family is willing to cooperate in your investigation.

Please ask His Majesty to believe us.

I'm sure you know clearly

what the Shen family did.

If you want Her Highness to recover,

you must treat the illness in her heart.

Old Master Shen,

what do you think?

Yes.

Old Master. This...

Don't tell Miao about this.

Yes.

Shen's Rice Shop has been seized?

It's true.

It was the Empress Dowager's order.

What do you think

is the intention behind her action?

Lingzhou City has

some rumors about Miao.

I'm afraid Her highness thinks it will affect the royal family's reputation

so she gave them some punishment.

Since it's nothing major,

it'll be fine

after a while

when the dust settles.

Regardless of her plot,

Miao should not be put in danger.

Zhan Yue.

Bring Constable Zhao

and the rest to protect the Shen family's business.

Report to me if anything happens.

Fine.

You should take care of yourself.

After the assassination,

Empress Dowager must be suspecting that you know martial arts.

You should stay home and rest.

Don't do anything reckless.

Don't worry.

I know what to do.

Miaomiao.

What's wrong?

I rushed over

when I heard the news.

I thought

Yanzhen came to trouble you again.

You scared me.

What's wrong?

Do you miss the Song family?

Song Xiyuan.

Let's get a divorce.

Did my aunts say something to you?

Or Yanzhen?

These are not important.

Third Master Song.

I know you treat me well.

You treat the baby well too.

After thinking about it carefully,

I think the marriage

is unfair to you.

Especially now.

Everyone is talking about me and Pei Yanzhen.

This is bad for you

and the Song family...

Do you think

I am someone who cares about these things?

Of course, not.

I don't want to harm you

because I see you as my friend.

They say

a woman thinks a lot

when being pregnant.

Since you read many books,

it's even easier for you to overthink.

All right.

Just stay in Shen's Residence.

I will visit you every day.

Third Master Song.

You promised me before we get married.

You have to agree

whenever I want a divorce.

(Divorce Letter) I am serious.

I even wrote the divorce letter.

Stamp your seal.

What if I go back on my words?

What?

What if I go back on my words?

Miaomiao.

You said back then

that we are both merchants.

We only care about benefits.

Now that you are pregnant with my daughter,

this is different

from our initial deal.

If I let you go,

who would compensate me a daughter?

What if...

What if Pei Yanzhen is the father?

That's impossible.

There's no divorce at all.

I will go back on my words.

Merchants are all dishonest.

I will not let you go.

I suggest you give up.

Our marriage is a lie.

It's not a lie.

It's a lie if I profit from it.

I married you because I did it for you.

How am I at fault?

Wait.

This is...

Why are you all standing there?

(Dream River Residence)

Father.

Why did you bring out a lot of jewelry?

It's nothing.

You don't have to worry in terms of business.

But...

That's right.

I'm going out for a few days.

Take good care of yourself at home.

Don't go out.

Understand?

Father.

If something happens in the family,

you must tell me.

I understand. I'm leaving.

Lvying.

Do you think

something's not right?

I had a quick look.

The jewelry

is worth tens of thousands of taels.

What kind of business requires so much money?

Do you think there's trouble in the family?

Anyway,

I have to

get the divorce soon

at a time like this.

I shouldn't trouble anyone anymore.

Miss.

Is it necessary to dress like this?

Warriors do this when they go out at night.

We sneaked here

to steal Song Xiyuan's stamp.

What will we do if other people find us?

You are the wife of the Song family.

Why don't we use the front gate?

Have you seen any warriors

who use the front gate?

Anyway,

you must work with me today.

Don't make any mistakes.

But...

No buts.

We'll talk inside.

Young Master.

Official Pei is here.

What is the purpose of your visit,

Official Pei?

Master Song is a businessman.

I'm sure you heard about what happened to the Shen family.

I want to ask you

about the grudge you have against Miaomiao

to the point of harming her like this.

What do you mean?

I'll be frank.

I've reached an agreement with the Empress Dowager.

If you

don't trouble my relationship with Miaomiao,

she will not trouble the Shen family.

Although I don't know how Official Pei

offended the Empress Dowager,

I suggest you stay away from Miaomiao

for her safety.

Third Master, do you think

you can trust the Empress Dowager's words?

(Conscience)

I don't care why you approach

the Shen family.

However, Miao is innocent.

No matter how we fight,

we should not involve her.

What a coincidence.

That's what I am thinking too.

What do you suggest, Official Pei?

The situation is like a game of chess.

It is always changing.

I don't want a scary enemy

like you.

Since we are both doing this for Miao,

why don't we work together?

Work together?

How?

Are you going to split the baby

in half?

Let's not talk about the baby for now.

I wonder if you

are interested in the position of court purveyor?

Do you have an idea?

I work for His Majesty.

The Empress Dowager has been grasping power for a long time.

His Majesty has not been feeling satisfied with it.

If you are willing to switch sides,

His Majesty will naturally grant you the position of court purveyor.

I'm sure you know

there's no free lunch in this world.

Tell me, Pei Yanzhen.

Besides Miaomiao,

what are your conditions?

When the Song's Trading Company opens a shop in the capital,

I want you to be my ears.

Official Pei, do you trust me so much

and think I'm willing to listen to your orders?

Rather than trusting you,

I trust

your character as a merchant who prioritizes benefits.

In the royal court,

I'm the only person who can give you what you want.

The night is long.

I still have

many things to discuss with you,

Official Pei.

Zhao.

You are closest to Official Pei.

Do you think the baby in Madam Song's stomach

belongs to our Master?

All of you are too naive.

Official Pei

is incredible.

Do you think Third Master Song

can compare to him?

Not at all.

So,

there's no doubt about that.

No doubt.

Let's go.

Is that her?

It is.

Turns out

she is interested in me.

Third Master Song.

I'm doing this for your own good.

Since I can't find the stamp,

I have no choice

but to forge a divorce letter from you.

Don't blame me.

Third Brother.

Third Brother.

Are you inside?

What are you doing?

Mother?

Why are you here?

I see light in his room

so I want to borrow some money.

Are you going to the brothel again?

No.

I'm expanding the business

and having some fun with my friends.

Mother.

Didn't you say Official Pei is here?

If I go there now,

do you think I can be acquainted?

Don't worry.

I'm planning for you.

I hired a group of men

to assassinate him when he leaves the residence.

Then, you will help him.

Official Pei

will have to repay you for saving his life.

Mother,

Official Pei is very intelligent.

If he finds out about the assassination...

I'm not doing it.

Don't worry.

He is fighting

with your Third Brother because of Shen Miao.

Who do you think

ordered the assassination?

In that case,

the position of the leader of the Song family

will be ours.

Enough. Go.

Mother, what a wise move.

If I leave like this,

I probably won't finish the divorce letter.

But Pei Yanzhen...

I feel happy

to be your friend, Official Pei.

Please forgive me

if I offended you in the past.

Master Song, not at all.

It is an honor for me

to have a friend like you.

Then,

I'll be waiting for your good news, Official Pei.

Don't worry, Master Song.

If you can let me know

the Empress Dowager's news in time,

I won't let you down.

Definitely.

Please.

Official Pei, take care.

Young Master.

Tonight,

someone entered your study.

I'm sure it's Fifth Brother and his mother.

Forget it.

They won't cause trouble for long.

Young Master,

why are you so sure

that Official Pei

can help you get the position of court purveyor?

Tie Niu.

Look at me.

Do you think I look like a fool?

Why are you still working with him?

If I don't do that,

how can I

wrap him around my fingers?

Pei Yanzhen is still too inexperienced

to be my match.

Young Master.

Isn't that lying?

No.

I'm doing it to Yanzhen.

It doesn't count as lying.

Are you all right?

What are you doing?

Tie him up.

We'll bring him back for our reward.

Who are you?

How dare you assassinate me.

Attack him!
