=Episode 5=

If the clan elders insist,

I'm willing to remove myself from the genealogy

to keep the marriage intact.

You have your preference

and Pei Yanzhen has his ambitions.

If you are going to interfere with his career,

can you take responsibility for his life?

(Even if you are willing to do that,)

(are you sure he won't regret it in the future?)

Who are you?

I am Shen Miao

from Lingzhou.

I'm in love with my husband Pei Yanzhen

and we will never separate even if we die.

Do you know

that both of you are relatives?

You can't get married.

It's taboo!

His Majesty has issued an imperial edict.

If you don't give up on your marriage,

you will be executed.

Why?

I finally get to fall in love with him!

Why should we be separated because of this reason?

No!

Pei Yanzhen!

Pei Yanzhen.

Miss!

Miss, it's terrible!

The royal court has issued an edict.

(Pei's Residence)

Father.

Mother.

How is my father?

Did you call a physician?

This is a chronic illness.

(Pei's Father, Pei's Mother) I'm afraid it's untreatable.

That's all.

Why won't you accept the imperial edict?

I didn't expect a small marriage

in a small city like Lingzhou

would catch the attention of His Majesty

to the point of forcing a divorce through an imperial edict.

How dare you!

Father.

Master Shen.

Think about it carefully.

Do you know the consequences of going against an imperial edict?

I understand

His Majesty's intention.

My father is old.

He also loves me the most.

After this incident,

he is probably feeling anxious.

Please forgive him.

Official Pei has a bright future ahead of him

and is currently progressing well.

If Miss Shen interfered with his future

and bring danger to the Shen family

because of your selfishness,

who will take responsibility for this?

Yes. I understand.

(luxuriant display)

Are we just going to let this incident go?

Old Master, please say something.

Things aren't that bad yet.

I will send a letter to the capital and think of a way.

If we can discuss a few more days,

there must be a way.

Forget it.

Civilians should never fight with officials.

I wanted a divorce anyway.

It saves me the trouble.

I'm leaving.

I need to send the divorce letter to the Pei family.

Miao!

Uncles. What's the meaning of this?

Magistrate.

I'm not being unreasonable

but you insist on not divorcing your wife.

Now, you are no longer a part of the Pei clan.

Since you are not part of the clan,

how can you simply ask someone to enter the residence?

Even if I'm not from the clan,

I can still be filial as someone's son.

Ask them to move away.

Who dares to do that?

I'll see who dares to move!

Why not?

How dare you disrespect your elders

outside your father's room.

What are you trying to do?

Pei Yanzhen.

I watched you grow up.

I know you have a firm resolve
