(Shen's Residence)

They are here.

(Luxuriant display)

- Father, Aunt. - Father, Aunt.

Stand up.

Stand up.

Stand up.

Miao.

Stand up.

Yanzhen.

I've prepared some Dahongpao tea

from Wuyi Mountain

to welcome you back today.

I spent a lot of money

and effort to get it from the Fujian Province.

This tea has a unique taste to it.

You are fortunate enough to try it.

Come.

Let's go and drink some tea.

Miao.

I'll go with Father-in-law then.

Father.

We'll get going now.

Did some tea merchants trick us for money again?

Everyone in Lingzhou City knows that your father is obsessed with tea.

They won't feel satisfied until they trick him

for some money.

Let's go and enjoy our flowers while they drink their tea.

- Let's go. - Let's go.

Miao.

How do you feel now that you have been married for a few days?

I can't say if it's good or bad.

But so far, he has kept his promises to me before the wedding.

We eat our three meals together every day.

And he's managing the relationship

between me and my in-laws very well.

If that's really the case,

then, it's great.

Aunt.

What do you mean?

After coming back from your residence a few days ago,

your father told me

that you can't proceed with the divorce yet.

The royal court is going to send their censor here

to investigate the Huaihe Reservoir case.

If the censor finds out

that this is a fake marriage,

I think our Shen family

will be annihilated.

What do you think?

How's the taste?

It's fragrant, refreshing

and with a sweet and rich aftertaste.

It's good tea.

But it's scalding.

I know it.

You are a person with good taste.

By the way,

you told me that you wanted to borrow some money in your letter.

Why do you need the money?

Do you know

about the refugees

of the flood in Jianghuai?

I've heard a little bit about it.

My superior doesn't allow me to get involved in it.

But I think

that this is about life and death.

We have to save them.

However, without Official Jia's permission,

no one in the county yamen

is willing to donate the money to help the refugees.

I have no choice but to ask for your help.

We are a family.

It's good for you to have this mindset.

It's just some money.

You don't have to borrow it from me.

How about we do this?

The Shen family will set up a booth to give out porridge

to help the refugees.

Thank you so much for your help.

Let's drink the tea.

Come.

Let's drink together.

Good tea is like this.

It tastes a little bit bitter when you drink it.

But it has a sweet aftertaste.

A sweet aftertaste.

Drink it.

Why do you

look so happy?

Do I?

Are you not going to end this marriage now?

That's not true.

You don't have to lie to me.

I already know from the start

that Official Pei is a great man

who will capture your heart.

But your father didn't believe me.

See?

In the end, I'm right.

Aunt.

From what I remember, you are the one

who was against this marriage in the first place.

Impossible.

You must have remembered it wrongly.

Miaomiao, let me ask you.

What do you think about the Shen family?

How do you think

your father treats me and you other aunts?

Of course he treats all of you well.

Just now, I heard them laughing.

I'm sure my aunts

are playing mahjong as usual

while talking about buying new cloths and dresses.

Your father only thinks about making more money.

He's very insensible.

I have to guide him all the time.

But I think Official Pei

is different.

You should try cherishing him.

Let me tell you.

Finding a right man

is like winning mahjong.

For example, you get a "three of dots".

You think that it's too common.

So, you discard it

to make a pure one-suit combination.

But you'll

end up letting others win

without getting the one that you want.

It'll be a great loss.

In your opinion,

what should I do

if I want to win

without losing anything?

You have to treat the "three of dots" better.

As they say,

one should return as good as one receives.

After a round of the game,

there are two of the "three of dots".

So, don't get rid

of this "three of dots" so quickly.

Hold it within your grasp first.

Worse comes to worst, you can still use it to win.

That makes sense.

Looks like

I need to treat him better.

You've asked the Shen family

to rescue those flood victims.

I never thought

that you could be so clever.

When have I ever acted rashly?

It's just that Magistrate Jia is keep a close eye on me

and he's my superior.

So, I can't help them directly.

Now, I've killed two birds with one stone.

Not only I don't have to expose myself,

the Shen family also has a good reputation now.

Isn't that great?

Not bad.

Anyway, I'll be staying

in the Shen's Residence with Shen Miao for a few days.

Keep an eye on Magistrate Jia.

Don't let him cause any trouble.

Don't worry.

Leave that to me.

You should worry about yourself.

Don't forget that it's fake

and fall into this honey trap.

You are here.

Why do you have these books here?

Buying books was once my father's

hobby.

But he doesn't read them.

He just wants to look like he's well-educated.

These books will just

rot here.

And we've received a lot from you lately.

After thinking about it,

it's better to give them to you.

There are many valuable books here that have only one existing copy.

This is too much.

Are you treating me so well

just because you want

to repay me?

What else?

Why else will I do this?

Don't misunderstand.

I'm from a family of merchants.

We care about mutual interest

and clearing our debts.

If you treat me so nicely,

it'll make me think that I'm not doing good enough.

Well.

If that's the case,

promise me something.

I'm all ears.

Is this your request?

Don't misunderstand.

It's not that I don't want to sleep with you.

It's just

that I...

I'm not feeling well recently.

Yes.

I'm not feeling well.

But don't worry.

That bed is for you.

It'll be cold at night.

I can't let a scholar like you

suffer in the cold.

Since you are not feeling well,

I can just sleep in the study room.

No.

There are many people in my family.

And they like to gossip.

If my father finds out

that we are not sleeping together,

he'll worry.

If you think that this is inappropriate,

I can sleep there.

If you are feeling unwell,

you should sleep on the bed.

Don't worry.

I won't do anything to you.

(I'm not afraid of you.)

(I'm afraid of myself.)

(County Yamen of Lingzhou City)

This is a great plan.

Not only you can save the refugees,

you also don't have to get involved in it.

Killing two birds with one stone.

The Empress Dowager lives in the capital.

But she's keeping a close eye on the Lingzhou City.

If I'm not cautious enough,

she'll be paying attention to me for nothing.

Do you think that the Empress Dowager knows about your family background?

She has always been paranoid.

And she likes power play.

Back then, I had already offended her by rejecting

the marriage arrangement with the princess.

I think she's just feeling me out right now.

If she was a man,

she would be a dominant one.

By the way,

how are you with Shen Miao?

She hasn't trusted me completely yet.

I don't understand.

Although the Shen family is rich,

do you

have to be so patient and spend so much effort on them?

Shen Miao's mother

was the only child of the previously wealthiest Lu family.

When the entire Lu family was killed for their crime,

she was the only one who survived.

It is rumoured

that the Lu family is as wealthy as an entire nation.

Besides the assets that were confiscated by the national treasury,

they have a treasure of great worth

that is still in hiding.

he refuses to give up on them.

I knew it.

He's not someone

as despicable as Official Jia.

By the way,

what are you going to do to help these refugees?

I can just set up a food booth

to feed them.

Are you hurt?

I'm not hurt.

Are you okay?

Are you okay?

Just a little bit hurt.

Just a little bit?

Why did you protect me?

Pei Yanzhen.

Dear.

Why are you so careless?

I'm fine.

Are we going to the medical centre?

Miao.

You should go home first.
