[Warm on a Cold Night]

[Episode 8]

Your Highness.

Her pulse

is very strange.

I'm not talented enough.

I can't say anything.

However,

she is blessed.

She should be safe.

She'll be fine after some rest.

That's good.

This...

young master of Qi.

Do you need my help?

No need.

No way.

Your wound is so serious.

Imperial Physician,

please help my friend

to deal with the wound.

Yes, please.

Where is this place?

You Qi people

recover so fast.

Hanzheng.

Prince Jun.

Miss Jiu'er, are you okay?

I'm fine.

What happened exactly?

Why were you locked

in the ice cellar?

By the way,

I found a female body

in the ice cellar.

If I'm not mistaken,

it should be Chef Zhang's wife.

Also,

the lords involved in the Nursery Crime Case

and Zhamuke

should have been killed by him.

Zhamuke...

was dead?

No wonder you went to the theater.

Let's go.

Meet my Father

and explain the ins and outs.

However,

I'll keep you two safe.

Thank you, Prince Jun.

How could this happen?

Yes.

Tell me.

What should we do?

How did the Qi people break in?

What happened to Jun?

Didn't he say to give us an explanation?

Where is he?

Father.

Calm down.

I've sent someone to invite him.

Prince Jun is here.

Prince Jun.

Greetings, Father.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Kneel down.

Jun.

This must be the Qi man

who made a scene in the palace, is he?

Father.

They are my friends.

Miss Jiu'er

is an Inspector from the Inspection Bureau.

She and Young Master Hanzheng came to the palace

to report something important.

Your Majesty.

What is it?

Regarding the culprit of the Nursery Crime Case.

I remember the murderer of the Nursery Crime Case

was a Qi with three scars.

Does he dare to hide in the palace?

The murderer of the Nursery Crime Case

was not a Qi man,

but

him.

What?

This...

It can't be Chef Zhang.

Impossible.

Your Majesty.

I'm innocent, Your Majesty!

Your Majesty.

Everyone knows

the culprit is a Qi man.

They're distorting the truth.

They must be helping the Qi man get rid of the crime

so that they slander me.

Your Majesty.

Although the lords who died

had claw marks on their bodies,

those claw marks

were in the same spot

and depth.

They are as precise as made by a tool.

Besides,

those claw marks were caused after death.

It's apparent that someone deliberately framed the Qi.

The last headless corpse

was not a Qian official

but a Qi man named

Zhamuke.

He was the one

who took Chef Zhang's wife for elopement

in the rumor.

Your Majesty.

Zhamuke's body

is now

in the coroner's room of the Investigation Bureau.

Please look into it, Your Majesty.

You said Zhamuke was dead?

Didn't they already go to Shuobei?

Your Majesty.

Zhamuke indeed

seduced my wife.

It's true that I hate him.

But I'm no match for Qi.

I can only let them

live together, Your Majesty.

Chef Zhang.

Was your wife

wearing a purple agate bracelet?

That's a token of love I gave her.

Did you drop

this hairpin

when you hid the body?

Your wife is now wearing

the love token you gave her

and being hidden in the cabinet in the ice cellar.

You're slandering me!

Your Majesty.

I didn't kill anyone.

Please do me justice, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty!

Guards!

Yes, sir.

Assign someone to check the ice cellar.

Yes.

Search carefully.

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

We have searched the ice cellar thoroughly.

No body was found.

What did I say?

What?

This is slander.

How is that possible?

I saw the body.

There's a cabinet inside.

Have you checked it carefully?

There's indeed nothing.

You may leave now.

Yes.

Did you hallucinate

when you were weak?

Impossible.

At that time,

I was just locked up.

I was still sober.

Your Majesty.

I'm innocent.

I didn't kill anyone.

Please do me justice, Your Majesty.

You wronged an innocent person.

As an Inspector from the Inspection Bureau,

you should know the punishment.

Your Majesty.

It must be

after I was rescued,

Chef Zhang was afraid that I might notice something,

so he moved the body somewhere else.

Until this moment, you are still pestering

and slandering me!

Your Majesty.

Enough.

What a disgrace

in the hall!

Do you have any other evidence?

Chef Zhang, you may leave.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Don't move. I'll do it myself.

There are so many places to hide a corpse.

Why did Chef Zhang have to

hide it in the ice cellar?

Why don't you believe me?

I really saw the body.

I believe you.

But you have to answer my question first.

Ice cellar.

Hide the body.

Chef Zhang cherishes a deep-seated affection

for his wife.

Although he killed her in anger,

he couldn't bear

to turn her body into rotten meat.

I see.

He hid the body in the ice cellar

because he wanted to

accompany his wife day and night.

That's why

he has frozen wounds on him.

What does the Qi man want?

Exactly.

What are you doing?

Qi people are always so reckless.

No!

My wife!

My wife!

My wife!

My wife!

My wife!

Don't touch my wife!

Don't touch my wife!

I want to

be with my wife forever.

I won't allow her

to become a horrible withered bone.

How dare you, Zhang Sen!

You deceived His Majesty

and committed a heinous crime.

You'd better admit your guilt now.

I didn't hurt her.

She was determined to leave with the Qi man.

She even risked her life

to drink the poison

I prepared for her.

It was the Qi man who harmed her.

Qi people deserve to die.

Those who are siding with Qi deserve to die.

Let me ask you.

Where is

the real Lord Zhang Yunhe?

He's dead.

They all deserve to die.

I want everyone to

know

there is no good end to

dealing with Qi people.

Guards!

Take him away

and wait for further instructions.

Yes.

My wife.

Don't touch her!

Don't touch my wife!

My wife!

My wife!

Jun.

Come here.

My Father

is going to reward you.

Go.

Father.

Guards!

Arrest

this lawless

and reckless Qi!

Yes.

Miss Jiu'er.

It's late.

Please go back and have some rest.

If there is any news,

His Highness will send someone

to tell you.

But...

Eunuch Liu.

In your opinion,

regarding the matter,

will they be implicated

because of me?

His Majesty detained Young Master Han

because he shapeshifted and trespassed the palace.

You were not caught

because His Majesty knows you're here to investigate the case.

As for His Highness,

he has been taken care of by the Empress

since he was young.

Don't worry too much.

But...

But what about Hanzheng?

I really don't know

what His Majesty is thinking.

Do you think today's incident

is related to the Young Prince again?

Probably.

Miss Jiu'er.

Listen to my advice.

If you wait here,

you will only be in the way

of His Highness saving the guy.

But...

Please go back.

All right.

Eunuch Liu,

if there is any news,

please ask His Highness to

inform me in time.

Don't worry.

Hurry up.

Father!

Father!

Why, Father?

Why?

I also want to know

why he had to shapeshift

and break into the palace

to reveal the truth.

That's because Miss Jiu'er

was trapped in the palace.

Trapped?

She is an Inspector.

Doesn't she take the official path

for investigation?

Jun.

How do you relate

to this matter?

Father, Miss Jiu'er...

Father.

It's a matter of life and death.

So that Second Younger Brother was too anxious

and disturbed the family banquet accidentally.

But the Nursery Crime Case did affect

the relationship between Qian and Qi.

Now the truth is revealed.

Although the three of them did something wrong,

they had merits for both races.

It's good to know the truth.

But that Qi

dared to shapeshift

in my palace.

If we don't punish him severely today,

in the future, if something happens again,

wouldn't the Qi people

do whatever they want

in my country?

But Father,

Young Master Han is here

to save the Qian people.

Do you think he can despise the law

for saving people?

Father,

Jun didn't mean that.

The case has been much debated among the public.

It affects the relationship between the two states.

Not only is the murderer not Qi,

but it turns out to be a Qian.

I'm afraid that it will rouse discontent and indignation among the Qi people.

Let's discuss this matter further

and be careful.

You're indeed considerate

and thoughtful.

This matter concerns the relationship between the two states.

We should interrogate him nicely.

Don't let Qi think

we're mistreating their people.

Ying,

I'll leave it

to you.

Yes, Father.

Also,

you

should not make excuses for

your willful brother anymore.

You may leave now.

-Yes, Father. -Yes, Father.

Ah Qi.

Your Highness.

Arrange some men

to protect Father

and Mother.

[Qian, Guard, Ah Qi]

Yes.

Eldest Brother,

you will help me this time.

Right?

How dare you say that?

Not seen for a few days,

I knew

you must have known

new friends in Jianghu.

I didn't expect you

to cause trouble in a blink of an eye.

They are not friends from Jianghu.

They are from the Inspection Bureau.

And they really didn't intend

to break into the palace.

They were here to investigate the case.

How long have you

known each other

that you already dare to speak for them?

Later,

tell me

their past history.

It'd be best if they don't have any criminal records.

If there's anything unusual,

Father will not calm down,

even if the Qi man is imprisoned for several months.

Eldest Brother,

I'll now prepare

some wine and meals.

Then I'll tell you everything

in your study.

You don't even have time for the banquet.

Why bother preparing food and wine?

That's right.

I knew it.

Eldest Brother must be hungry, right?

I'm going to prepare the food and wine

and make up for my mistake.

I'll be quick.

Eldest Brother, how about this?

Just make a pot of tea.

I'll be right back

after that.

It's just a pot of tea.

[He'an Hall]

Morning, Mother.

Stop there!

Jiu'er.

What...

What happened to your face?

Didn't you sleep last night?

I think you are having liver fire exuberance.

Let me take your pulse.

I'm fine, Mother.

I was just handling the case

and thinking too much.

So I lack sleep.

How dare you?

What benefits did the Inspection Bureau give you?

You work on cases every day

instead of goofing off.

Don't worry, Mother.

Anyway, I think

I am going to lose my job.

I'll go back to the Inspection Bureau first to clean up the mess.

Let's talk about it later.

Going to lose?

I wonder if

yesterday's incident

will cause any trouble.

I hope nothing bad will happen to Hanzheng.

Is the lord from the Law Department already here?

Oh, can I have a break?

Jiu'er.

Why are you standing here?

Come on. Follow me. Let's go.

Tianyun.

You...

You didn't sleep well recently.

Tianyun.

Is someone coming from the palace?

What's wrong?

The lord from the palace has been waiting for you.

You are now the image bearing

of the Inspection Bureau.

Image bearing?

Come in with me.

What image bearing?

[Inspection Bureau]

Let's go!

[Su Jiu'er]

I heard

she brought Qi people

to disturb His Majesty.

I thought she would get into trouble.

I didn't expect things

to be like this.

C-Commander Yan.

I was about to explain to you.

If it weren't for the Qi man,

the case wouldn't have been solved.

I was reckless this time.

But...

But the culprit has been imprisoned.

I know everything.

Come over and thank His Highness.

If he hadn't

told me the ins and outs,

with what you did,

His Majesty

could cut your head off.

In that case, you can be saved.

Your merits are fulfilled.

Your Highness.

Will Hanzheng be alright?

I won't break my promise.

And Eldest Brother

won't break his promise too.

That's great.

Great.

It seems

you care about him.

Since Your Highness helps me so much,

I can't hide it from you.

Actually,

I haven't known him for long.

But he took such a big risk

for me.

Now he's even in prison.

I just feel

very guilty.

You haven't known each other for long?

If that Qi guy

is guilty,

will it implicate

His Highness and me?

Liu Fu.

Don't scare her.

Miss Jiu'er has wide experience and extensive knowledge.

The person she trusts must be reliable.

Sure.

Miss Jiu'er.

Don't worry.

Eldest Brother went to the prison early in the morning.

He will let me know at once

if there's a result.

Let's eat at Deyue Restaurant while waiting.

Your Highness is inviting me to Deyue Restaurant again?

You're so nice.

In exchange,

tell me the stories

about your investigation.

Let's go.

Let's go.

Come out.

This man

doesn't have any smell at all.

You can't smell me,

right?

I solved the Nursery Crime Case

and brought justice

to your officials.

How could you do this to me?

You even used agarwood

to block my five senses

and weaken my ability.

Why are you so afraid of Qi people?

Do you have to be so careful

even to a Qi man who has saved Qian?

It's not fear

but fairness.

Qian people can't tell

the smell of Qi too.

Everyone should take a step back

to understand each other.

Am I right?

Who are you?

I'm your friend,

Wen Jun's brother.

Eldest Prince of Qian,

Wen Ying.

I don't want to be friends with Qian people.

What about the girl

you rescued from the ice cellar?

And Prince Jun,

who runs hither and thither and pleads all day

for you?

Tell me.

How long are you going to imprison me?

At least a few months.

At most,

it won't take more than a year.

A year?

I don't have time to waste.

Do you really think this prison

can lock me up?

This prison

is built for you Qi people.

Once you are locked up here,

even the Qi people can't escape.

If you leave,

His Majesty will blame you,

the people you saved will also be implicated.

I saved someone

but troubled myself.

You Qian people

really disappoint me.

The Qi people have a long life.

One year

is nothing.

Hold on.

If it weren't for Jun,

I wouldn't have talked to you.

Do you really think you have the right

to bargain with me?

How do you know I don't?

I advise you

to talk to me nicely.

I'm no different

from you.

Who are you?

Tell Jun immediately.

Yes.

The rest of you,

return to the palace with me.

Yes.

Father.

What is it?

Your Highness.

Han-

What's wrong with Hanzheng?

Did something happen?

That Qi man...

He said he was the only son of the King of Xueqi.

Hanzheng.

He is the Prince of Qi.

A prince?

Miss Jiu'er.

You really don't know.

But how could it be?

He is a prince.

He smuggled here

without the pass.

How couldn't a prince

can't get the pass?

A prince will also sneak out.

He is a prince.

You are also a prince.

I didn't even notice

when I met two princes.

Am I still

from Inspection Bureau?

It's...

It's not your fault.

We did a good job in disguise.

But since he is a prince,

he should be released.

Why does the Crown Prince

so nervous?

The son of the King of Xueqi

violating our law

and being imprisoned

has greatly damaged the reputation of the Qi race.

But he solved the Nursery Crime Case.

This case was tricky.

It was also a set-up of a Qian to Qi people,

implicating the relationship between the two countries.

The punishment of the Young Master of Qi

is really difficult.

The Prince of Qi

disregarded the laws of Qian

and broke into the palace,

with suspicion of assassination.

This is really a great gift

to fall into our lap.

You mean...

Next month,

the state of Qi will send ambassadors

to work out the details of the Qian-Qi Six Treaties.

Qian-Qi Six Treaties?

What is that?

Well...

Your Highness, you are...

The Jiuzhou Continent

is filled with various nations and tribes.

This is where the state of Qian is located.

The state of Qian is located in a rich land.

Qian people excel in wisdom,

mobilized by cooperation,

[The State of Qian]

and bound by law.

With planning and strategizing,

the state of Qian has become a powerful country.

The state of Qi is north of us.

Although we are neighbors,

the Qi race enjoys cold

and dislikes the weather in the south.

We had always been harmonious.

But there were countless countries

besides Qian and Qi

coveting the riches of Qian.

Qian had suffered a lot for it.

But later, my ancestor,

Emperor Zhaowu thought that

we could use the power

of the Qi race with strong stamina.

Therefore,

Emperor Zhaowu sent

Dongji Island which is located north of Qian as a gift,

and promised an annual tribute

in exchange for Qi

to guard the northern border for us.

He also promised

Qian and Qi

would befriend from generation to generation.

In fact, Qian-Qi Six Treaties

had already been confirmed.

But it hadn't been signed yet.

After that, the late emperor passed away.

This matter was delayed as well.

Fortunately,

we found that

if the Qi people

get too deep into our country,

we will be in trouble.

So I have to be careful.

Father is thoughtful.

A few years ago,

your Grandfather wanted to use the power of the Qi race.

We thought

the Qi race

would live next to us harmoniously

because of the weather

and never invade each other.

But we didn't expect

the Qi race to start to act unusual.

They insist to sign the agreement

and move to Dongji Island.

So this time,

we can use the reason

for the Prince of Qi disobeying the law

and let them choose

whether to put

the Qian-Qi Six Treaties aside.

Maybe we can find a way

to not sign it forever.

I understand now.

I'll send ambassadors

to Shuobei

and ask the Qi race

to pick him up in Jiuxiao City.

Go.

Father, I'll take my leave.

It's all my fault.

Hanzheng told me

to be careful.

But I caused such a big trouble

and implicated him.

Don't say that.

Brother Han saw you

you working hard to find out the truth about the Qi race.

He saw your sincerity and kindness.

That's why he did this to you.

Your Highness.

Can we meet him?

He has a special identity.

I'm afraid I can't help you this time.

But don't worry.

Even if he is imprisoned,

my Father will treat him

as an honored guest.

Miss Jiu'er.

Instead of worrying,

why don't you think about

how to wrap up the Nursery Crime Case?

It can help him redeem his fault.

As for the rest,

leave it to the ambassadors of both states.

Am I right?

What should I do?

I'm just an Inspector.

This is

all I can do.

I was born

with strength.

It's a piece of cake

to protect you.

I will prove that

I can be

a good partner.

Do you understand now?

Qi people are

stronger than you.

I'm here.

You won't die.

Exactly.

You're so strong.

Come out if you dare!

Scare me to death!

Come out if you dare!

Come out and scare me to death.

I knew it.

I told you

no one would come to save you.

You'd better be quiet.

Tell me now.

Where did our p-

young master go?

He hasn't returned for two days.

Did something happen?

Or

did you betray him?

Keha, look.

You tied me up like this.

I can't talk.

Let me go first.

Listen,

don't play tricks in front of me.

Got it?

Got it.

Great.

How could I forget you?

How dare you!

Do you want to tell on me?

That's not what I meant.

I mean

you...

Your young master has been arrested.

Come with me to save him.

What?

Hurry up.

No one is here.

Let's go.

Let's go.

Hurry up. Here.

Come down.

There are so many guards.

Brother.

His Highness

has such a special identity.

Doesn't he deserve

the most heavily guarded place

in the state of Qian?

Aren't you smart?

Think of something.

Is there a route

with fewer guards

and a higher chance of winning?

Are you asking me?

How would I know?

If I knew, I wouldn't ask you to come.

Besides that,

don't you Qi people

come and go freely?

You can

bring him back in the blink of an eye.

I'm from Cangqi.

I'm not from Xueqi,

like His Highness.

We are of great strength.

If so, what should we do?

I used to think

I was

incredibly smart.

I didn't expect

when my partner was in prison

I couldn't even say a word to him.

Right.

We can't get in.

But I can send a message.

Didn't I tell you?

I can't pass on the message.

You don't understand.

Look.

What are you doing?

Eat.

Thank you, sir.

Thank you, sir.

Why are the wolves in East Mountain

coming again recently?

We're in a remote area.

What's wrong with a few wolves?

Wolf?

What are you doing?

I will never leave.

and always be with you.

Keha

is quite smart this time.

I can't believe he found me here.

You Qi people

have such an effective

and primitive way of communication.

What were you

howling just now?

I howled,

"Your Highness, although I can't get in,

I will never

leave you".

If I do the same,

I howl to him,

then

can he distinguish

my voice?

Tell me what you want to howl first.

Let me think.

Let me think.

I want to tell him,

"I'm here too

until death does us part."

That's it.

Let me try.

Su Jiu'er?

She brought Keha here.

No.

Why is she howling too?

Although I'm weak,

I will never

leave you alone.

Also, Hanzheng.

Thank you for saving me.

I will save you.

What a bold Qi woman!

How dare she shout out those forthright words

to her lover in prison.

She's so shameless.

I can't stand it anymore.

I can't stand it anymore.

Does Su Jiu'er

really know

what she has howled?

The Qian women are shy.

If I tell her

she howled "I wait for you"

as "I want you,"

will she be embarrassed to death?

Such a howling

is killing me.

I'm so thirsty.

It's so tiring.

Keha.

Did I howl

correctly?

He should know

it's me.

I can guarantee

His Highness would know it's you.

Great.

Don't worry.

Next,

I will try to solve the case as soon as possible

and plead leniency for you.

And every day from now on,

I will come here and howl to you.

I want you to know

I may be weak,

but I'm loyal enough.

Once a day?

Yes.

So that he can feel

my power

every day.

Right?

Yes.

I can guarantee that

not only His Highness knows

your power,

I suppose

all the Qi people in Jiuxiao City

will know about it.

Please.

I hope the reinforcements of the Qi race

come quickly

and get you out of this suffering.

Don't happen

any mishaps again.

Please.

Please.

Come on. Cheers.

Kings of Qi.

Come, please.

OK. Cheers.

Make yourself at home.

Fill your cup.

Your Majesty.

You're still the same.

Although you don't like banquets,

when you get a good hunt,

[Qi, King of Xuanqi]

you're still willing to

share it with everyone.

[Qi, King of Cangqi]

The four tribes should be united.

If there is good prey,

I should share it with you.

[Qi, King of Chiqi]

But

why doesn't the King of Xuanqi eat?

Your Majesty,

I'm not feeling well today.

So, I'm not eating.

Didn't I ask you

to invite the Grand Preceptor and Chilan here

to share

the rare divine deer?

Why haven't they arrived yet?

Your Majesty.

It's just a white-neck divine deer.

Why are you making such a fuss?

You tried so hard

to gather us here.

Could it be

because of that rumor?

What rumor?

Do you mean

the disappearance of Prince Hanzheng

is because he went to Jiuxiao City?

You only know one.

Not the other.

His Highness is not only

in Jiuxiao City.

Now,

he's even

in the Imperial Prison.

Your Majesty gathered us

to rescue

your only son, right?

How dare you!

The Grand Preceptor is here.

His Majesty is having a private banquet today.

King of Xuanqi's speculation

is too rude.

Besides,

Hanzheng is our prince.

Isn't it reasonable to save him?

As the Prince of Qi,

he's in a prison in another country.

What a disgrace!

Now the state of Qian must be

mocking us.

They're not afraid to

disobey us anymore.

After all, Hanzheng is the Grand Preceptor's disciple.

He may be arrogant,

but he's not reckless.

There must be a reason for him.

Even if there is a reason,

with our skills,

how could he end up

in the prison of the state of Qian?

Enough.

Stop arguing.

It's just a family banquet today.

Why are you arguing?

Did the rare divine deer

come at the wrong moment

or did my Hanzheng

come at the wrong moment?

Sit down, please.

Share the deer.

Your Majesty.

Bad news!

Get out.

Today is my family feast.

I don't want to hear

any nonsense.

But...

Just say it.

The Qian's ambassadors died at the border

before entering.

What happened?

I was ordered to

welcome the ambassadors at the border.

But when we arrived,

only two horses

were carrying two dead Qian men.

They were already frozen.

Apparently, they died a long time ago.

Your Majesty.

Qing'er said

something happened

with the horse of an ambassador

and he had left the troop.

He might still be alive.

I'll pick him up myself.

Okay.
