[The Ingenious One]

[Round 2: The Three Warriors Meet at Yangzhou]

Mother, wake up! Mother!

Mother!

Mother! Mother, wake up!

Mother!

[Luo Family's Village]

Mother!

Wenjia.

Wenjia!

Father!

Hurry...

run.

Run.

Father!

Father!

Kid, come with me.

I'll take you to a safe place.

Wake up.

Father!

Wenjia.

[Yuntai Sect]

This is Yuntai Sect.

Yuntai Sect? I know that.

I heard about it from the village's physiognomist before.

What did he say?

That they are a bunch of liars.

That's quite incisive.

How was Yuntai Sect established?

There's no other way but with wisdom.

Many people can gain money with wisdom.

But only a few can win the country with wisdom.

Legend has it that the highest realm of Qianmen Sect

is to seek for the country in the intangible.

What does the country have to do with me?

I only want the truth.

You just need to tell me

who killed the Luo Family's village's

313 people.

Once you've completed your learning,

I'll make it clear to you.

For now, it's not good for you

to know too much.

How long will the learning take, according to Qianmen Sect's rules?

Qianmen Sect is of the past.

We only talk about Yuntai Sect.

Then according to Yuntai Sect's rules.

For those with ordinary qualifications,

it takes three to five years.

It's a different matter if he's exceptionally talented.

It only takes three to five years?

Okay.

After I've completed my learning,

you have to tell me the truth.

From now on, Luo Wenjia no longer exists in the world.

You are...

Yun Xiang.

[Baiju Town]

Everyone, get up!

Get up now!

Get up! Get up! Time to work!

Get up now! Everyone, get up!

No more lying down, get up!

Time to work!

Don't slack off!

Hurry up.

Hurry!

What are you looking at? Go!

Hurry up!

Follow me.

I asked you to give me your hand!

Behave yourself!

Go!

Hurry, go!

Hurry!

There's a dead rat here. It stinks.

I'll break your leg too,

and lock you up here for another ten days.

Then you won't ask that anymore.

Both legs broken.

Hurry, go!

Everyone, listen up!

You can pair up freely.

Work hard!

No one is allowed to slack off!

Otherwise,

you'll be whipped.

All right, get back to work!

Kid,

I'll personally whip you today.

Do you dare?

You rotten Baldy.

You...

You're making trouble here again.

You'll have to do twice the workload today!

What's wrong?

I'm afraid something happened to my bone.

Take him away!

Yes.

Hurry up. What are you looking at?

Hurry up.

Can you find me an orthopedic doctor?

Doctor?

Just stay here rotting

and wait for your death.

You'll also suffer from the odor of my corpse if I die!

Hey!

Mr. Wen.

Mr. Wen?

Who is it?

I'm Yun Xiang.

I've completed my learning.

I was going to visit you in Nandu,

but halfway through my journey, I heard you got into trouble.

Yun Xiang.

Mr. Wen.

Do you remember what you promised me?

I heard you were bullied.

Does it hurt?

Yes!

Is the female cat burglar who ran away from the gambling house that day

in cahoots with you?

Where is she?

I don't know that woman.

Think about it.

If I were in cahoots with her,

how could she be living a carefree life

while I'm being tortured here?

Guess if I believe you.

I'll give it to you, fellow.

You're quite tolerant.

Let’s see how long you can last.

Lord Yan.

[Yangzhou City]

Travel permit!

[Travel Permit]

Okay, go.

Hurry up.

You!

Stay here and behave yourself.

Senior.

Senior.

Your arm injury...

is self-inflicted.

If not,

how could I be alone with you?

Why are you going to such great lengths

for a useless person like me?

If you hadn't saved me 15 years ago

and sent me to the Master,

I don't know what would have become of me.

I might have already died.

Now that you're in trouble,

how can I stand by and watch?

I've come up with a perfect plan.

Now we only need the right opportunity.

No need.

Who is it that wants to harm you?

Last month, the government investigated me

in the name of fraud.

He was the one who snitched.

He must be afraid of your revenge,

so he bribed the soldiers

to send you to this remote place in Baiju Town

and handed you to the corrupt officials.

What's his name?

Qi Tianfeng, the sect leader of Cao Sect.

[Cao Sect of Nandu]

[Qi Tianfeng, Sect Leader of Cao Sect]

Your Master!

Something happened.

What’s with the panic?

I heard that someone pasted the secret accounts

of Yan Luowang's salt trafficking

at the entrance of the Yangzhou prefecture.

This is weird.

Just a few days ago, I saw that secret account book

when I was checking the account balance with him.

[Yangzhou Prefecture Office]

Baiju Town is under the jurisdiction of

and directly managed by the Yangzhou prefecture.

It seems to be targeting Yan Luowang.

If we keep investigating,

I'm afraid more trouble will ensue.

Although the fish intestine is not fatal,

it's connected to all the internal organs.

It has to be completely removed to prevent future trouble.

The brightest part of all animals

are the eyes.

And the pufferfish's eyes

are precisely the most poisonous part.

So we must be careful to remove them completely.

Your Master is right.

Wen Cong.

Try it.

Right now, you have to run away quickly

and settle down safely.

Senior.

Do you remember Shu Yanan?

My lord.

Have you found the girl?

By the west wharf,

wild dogs have dug up many corpses.

It's Li and the others.

Follow me.

Yes.

Wen Cong.

My people were killed for no reason.

Did you deliver the news outwards

such that your disciples came to me?

I'm imprisoned in this dungeon.

How can I deliver the message?

Stop playing tricks.

Qi Tianfeng only told me to keep an eye on you,

but he didn't tell me to keep you alive.

Lord Yan!

My lord.

Speak!

All of your secret accounts

were pasted at the entrance of the Yangzhou prefecture.

Tell me!

Was it you?

Lord Yan.

You two colluded

and embezzled the government's salt.

Once this news spreads,

you know what the consequences will be like.

If you offend Qi Tianfeng,

you still have places to hide.

But if you offend Yuntai Sect,

there will be no place for you

in this world anymore.

Let's go.

Go!

Lock the door well.

Yes.

My lord,

we can't stay in Baiju Town.

Hurry and pack your things.

Okay.

[Zhang Kui, Cao Sect]

Zhang Kui, what do you mean?

Lord Yan,

Master Qi has set up a tomb for you.

I’ll personally send you in.

Lord Yan,

the sooner you die, the sooner you'll be reincarnated.

Stop chasing.

The most important thing now is to destroy the salt farm's official accounts.

Go.

Light the fire while the wind is blowing.

Light the fire in more spots,

so we don't raise suspicions about how only the accounting office caught fire.

Yes.

Yes.

Make it quick!

Go report to the government yourself.

I want you to pay

for Godfather's suffering bit by bit.

You asked for your death.

Fire! Run!

Hurry!

Fire!

Did you set the fire?

Yes...

or no.

You disclosed Yan Luowang’s salt trafficking

and made him panic.

If he wants to completely destroy the evidence,

he needs to destroy the official accounts.

Soon, the fire will spread with the sea breeze.

Baiju Town will be in chaos.

This is our chance to escape.

You've indeed learned your deduction skills from our Sect's teachings.

But in order to save me,

you've put Baiju Town's people in calamity.

Is this the way of Yuntai Sect?

If we don't get rid of Yan Luowang,

how can the salt workers and salt businesses make a comeback?

I just hope this big fire

can burn down the injustice of the past.

Only in this way can the whole Baiju Town

have a chance to start anew.

The members of Yuntai Sect

win and stay upright

with wisdom.

Although you've broken both your legs,

you can still despise me.

I've been waiting for 15 years

just for today.

You've learned for 15 years.

How much have you had figured out?

Senior, what exactly happened in Luo Family's village that year?

I was the one who ordered Qi Tianfeng to bribe the soldiers.

They entered the Luo Family's village in the name of investigating pirates

and forced the farmers to hand over their land.

However, I didn't expect the soldiers to slaughter

and massacre the entire village.

When I arrived,

I only had time to save you.

The soldiers massacred my family's village.

Who else is behind this?

The truth you've been waiting for 15 years

turned out to be worse than you imagined.

Enmity is of the mortal heart.

A mortal heart cannot master the way of Yuntai Sect.

Yun Xiang, are you still unable to let it go?

Do you still want to investigate the case?

My surname is Luo.

My name is Luo Wenjia.

You are extremely talented.

If you can let go of the past—

Put me down and run!

Mr. Wen.

Don't bother about me.

Run!

Yanan...

Take care of her.

Mr. Wen!

What did Godfather say before he died?

He said nothing.

Godfather, I'm sorry I couldn't fulfill my filial duties.

I was late.

As gratitude for raising me,

I swear I'll repay you with the blood of your enemy.

An eye for an eye.

New and old hatred...

when will they end?

If you were young and homeless,

and had to face the tragic death of your benefactor

who was also like family,

your hatred would be greater than mine.

Don’t be too sad.

If Mr. Wen was alive,

he wouldn’t want to see you like this.

The fire has burnt out and only ashes are left.

It seems like only ashes are left,

but they're actually marking another beginning.

The enter area along the river

is now under Qi Tianfeng's control.

Have you thought about what to do next?

Not yet.

Speaking of which, it's absurd,

that I know nothing about you.

Actually, there's also a deep grudge...

I've to settle between Qi Tianfeng and me.

How about this?

Why don't you join hands with me?

Think about it.

If you are alone,

your power is limited.

If we work together,

with my wisdom and your martial arts skills,

we make up for each other's shortcomings, like a perfect match.

Why do I feel like you've planned this beforehand?

Sort of.

Let's go.

Where are we going?

Yangzhou.

Yangzhou is the biggest commercial port north of Yangtze River.

There are Cao Sect's spies everywhere.

Let's go.

[Drunken Willow Inn]

Warrior Jin.

It's the same price as an Armed Escort's life.

Ten taels of gold per life.

No problem.

I want him killed even if I have to borrow money.

She has left home for months

and that shrew actually fell in love with the neighboring village's butcher.

I offer 20 taels.

Please help me kill these adulterers.

I don't kill women and children.

If she's with the butcher now,

why can't you just marry another woman?

This...

Jin Biao.

There's a reckless kid in the West Village

who is recklessly targeting the County Magistrate

for owing some workers' wages.

The County Magistrate wants to invite you over.

As long as no one finds out,

we can negotiate the price.

[Swordsman, "Ten Taels of Gold"]

What a corrupt official.

He doesn't want to pay wages,

but is willing to pay to have someone killed.

Get lost.

Sorry, Warrior Jin.

Goodbye.

Jin Biao, "Ten Taels of Gold".

Twenty taels for him dead.

Let me have a look at him.

I can't accept this deal.

If it's too low,

just name the price.

You're too late.

He just hired me.

I need to do something.

Thirty taels.

Forty taels.

Fifty taels?

How many times do I have to tell you?

Get lost!

Don't overestimate yourself.

My business is priced at 10 taels of gold per life.

Do you know what it's based on?

First, I keep my promise.

Second...

I'm quick.

Two lives.

Twenty taels.

You tried so hard to save Godfather.

Yet you're not at all sad

over his death.

Why cry over spilt milk?

By the way,

how much do you know

about Qi Tianfeng?

I only know that he's from Cao Sect.

He used to be a wharf laborer,

but he was ruthless and decisive.

Back then, Godfather broke into the commerce world of Nandu

and caused a stir among the local forces.

He needed someone to appear in public for him

and chose Qi Tianfeng.

In return,

Godfather helped him secure the position

of the Sect leader of Cao Sect.

Have you seen him before?

A long time ago.

He looks weak,

but he's actually a martial arts expert in Nandu City.

And he went straight up to a prestigious official position from such a humble one.

It's unfathomable how scheming he is.

Qi Tianfeng and Mr. Wen were so close.

As his goddaughter,

you should have seen him often.

If I had known Cao Sect was after you,

I would have asked for more than 10 taels.

Did they look for you?

He offered

20 taels of gold.

Do you think I accepted it?

From what you've just said, I don't think

you have the intention to kill me.

Of course.

There are rules in my industry.

But they kept insisting me to do it.

So I warned them

by killing two of them.

Do you want more money?

I like you, so I'll give you a 50% discount.

Please spare your effort.

If you kill all your way to Nandu,

I'll go bankrupt.

Miss, you said your back hurt just now.

Look at you.

You want to cross the river yet you offended Cao Sect.

This river belongs to them.

I reckon you already had a plan.

Speak up.

Miss, are you familiar with Yangzhou?

In terms of prosperity along the river,

Nandu comes in first and Yangzhou comes in second.

The two cities divide the country into the South and the North.

Facing each other from afar,

both are hubs frequented by groups of traveling merchants.

You crossed the river from Yangzhou

because you want to set up a group of traveling merchants,

so it'll be harder for the opponents

to attack you in public.

The biggest raw silk market in Yangzhou is ahead,

filled with groups of traveling merchants from Nandu.

With such a brain, your head is valuable.

[Yunjin Silk Shop]

[Su]

Mr. Su.

Mr. Su.

Mr. Su, look at mine.

He's from the Su family of Nandu.

The Su family of Nandu is the leader of the commerce world

as the century-old royal supplier of silk.

These rich merchants are the most cautious.

How can we get them involved?

I pick you.

Thank you, Mr. Su.

Mr. Su.

Thank you, Mr. Su.

Mr. Su.

Mr. Su, please take a good look at mine again.

[Su Mingyu, the Su Family of Nandu]

[Qian Rong, Steward of the Su Family]

There are still many raw silk businesses.

It won't hurt to check out a few more.

They are all raw silk from Yangzhou.

I don't think there will be any difference.

In business, it's better to

be more meticulous.

Qian.

Our family goes to Yangzhou to purchase raw silk every year.

We have a friendly relationship with these silk merchants.

The martial world is about chivalry.

There's no need to nitpick.

Young Master,

this isn't the martial world,

but the commerce world.

My sister said

I have the say on this silk purchase.

It is said that the Young Master of the Su family is chivalrous and brave.

It’s an honor to meet you today.

I really admire you.

Since Mr. Su is so chivalrous,

I'll sell my 500 catties of fine raw silk

to you at its base price.

This 500 catties—

Thank you, then.

Young Master.

Purchasing 500 catties at a time

is not in accordance with Su family's rules.

Rules are set by people.

In the future, if I were to take the helm

and change all the rules—

If this deal is done,

you'll not only break the rules,

but also lose the favor of the people.

Who are you? And why do you say that?

Mr. Su.

You accept medium-quality silk at the price of high-quality silk.

This goes against the rules of commerce.

Readily believing those smooth talkers

will only disappoint the meticulous silk merchants.

The natural way of commerce is to retain by fair means what was acquired by foul.

No matter how big your family or business is,

if your words and actions are this rash,

I’m afraid your reputation as the royal supplier won’t last much longer.

My family is the century-old royal supplier of silk.

I know how to discern good silk from bad ones.

Who are you to interfere?

In that case,

you must have did that intentionally.

I was too impatient just now.

Why don't we take another look?

Next.

Mr. Su,

we just agreed...

Do you still want to do business with the Su family in the future?

Okay then. Mr. Su, take your time to look around.

Young Master, a moment please.

Qian.

Who cares about him?

You seem extraordinary and proficient in commerce.

Which family in Yangzhou City

do you belong to?

I'm just passing by Yangzhou

on my way to Nandu.

You're going to Nandu?

That's great, you should come with us.

Let's go together.

I'm sorry.

Sure.

I happen to have two friends with me.

Can they join us too?

Since they're your friends, of course.

This journey is boring.

I haven't even seen a thief.

It's good to have a safe journey.

We are businessmen,

not people of the martial world.

You are the only son of the Su family.

You’ve to take over the family business sooner or later.

It’s good to know more about the raw silk industry

prior.

It's more practical than looking for

those martial arts books.

I know, Qian.

What's your relationship with Cao Sect?

I have a grudge against Qi Tianfeng for exterminating my family.

More than 10 years ago,

Shu family's Armed Escort Agency took a business deal.

The Armed Escort's capital was a whopping 300 taels of gold.

Naturally, the security deposit is also high.

[More than 10 years ago]

If anything went wrong,

Shu's Chief Armed Escort would go bankrupt.

In the end, he ran into pirates.

[Shu's Ancestral Hall]

Three generations of Shu family's property was destroyed in one go.

My father committed suicide in resentment.

Qi Tianfeng was the one who offered this business deal.

I see.

In just this one round,

Qi Tianfeng usurped all of Shu family's property.

I'm guessing he must have already been in contact

with those pirates beforehand.

After my father died,

Qi Tianfeng wanted to get rid of every member of the Shu family

to eliminate all future troubles.

It was Mr. Wen who saved me

and took me in as his goddaughter.

After I became an adult, I traveled around and practiced martial arts.

I only found out Godfather was in trouble when I returned to Nandu half a month ago.

But it was still too late.

No wonder you said you haven't seen Qi Tianfeng in a long time.

With his power today,

he must be much stronger than before.

How sure are you that you can take him down?

Let's just go to Nandu first.
