This card holds the power to change someone's life for ever.

Eight ambitious designers are heading into battle to win

The idea of someone saying you don't need to worry

about your rent or your mortgage... That's absolutely insane!

It's amazing. Mind-blowing.

Jeezo!

Through a series of epic challenges...

Your next challenge is bathrooms...

Kitchens... Bedrooms...

This is where the competition starts.

They will build their dream home room by room.

Oh! Oh, BLEEP.

Oh, my God!

Someone is spying.

What are you doing?

Oh, it's really heavy.

What is going on?

HE CHORTLES

Nothing escapes the watchful eye of serious judge

and global superstar architect Dara Huang.

Everything just needs to be perfect.

I'm not here to be nice, guys.

I'm here to find that next big thing.

After each gruelling challenge, their apartments will be sealed

and their fates revealed in the dreaded lockout.

I still have nightmares of this corridor!

If the lights go green, they live to fight another week.

If the lights go red,

they have been locked out of their apartments

and must leave the competition for good.

The corridor is terrifying.

It's absolutely awful.

It's like the hotel from hell.

The key to THEIR future is in THEIR hands.

You start doubting yourself a little bit, you know?

I just don't want to go home. I've so much more to give.

Only one will win a home of their own.

It actually would change my life. It's such an amazing opportunity.

I can't tell you how much I want this flat.

Welcome to the Big Interiors Battle.

Winning my own property, yeah, it's life-changing.

To win this apartment, my life will change a lot, actually.

Look, I'm in it to win it.

For someone saying you don't need to worry about your rent

or your mortgage, you'd have to be dead from the hairline down

to not get excited about that.

Hello. Hello. Hi.

Welcome to Sheffield. How are you all feeling?

Yeah, excited. Very much so.

This was formerly a cookery factory,

but now it's a block of epic apartments...

Oh-ho-ho!

Selected from hundreds of applicants,

these design enthusiasts will each tackle their own apartment in a bid

to design and win their dream home.

Do you want to get inside and have an explore? Absolutely. Yeah.

Oh, wow.

Oh. Oh, my goodness.

Each week, each designer will transform one room.

Oh, my God.

Wow!

Will the metal beam work here?

It's very exciting.

Lots of potential here.

But only one will win the apartment mortgage free.

Really eager to start.

It's an opportunity of a lifetime.

I cannot wait to design.

I dream of having my own home.

With so much at stake, to decide who will stay and who will go,

we have recruited a world-class judge...

..the award-winning architect and superstar designer...

With a master's degree from Harvard,

architect Dara Huang designs billionaire properties

all over the world.

I'm now designing hotels, retails and homes from affordable

to billionaires all over the world. I'm not here to be nice, guys.

I'm here to find that next big thing.

Dara will decide who will win and who will leave empty-handed.

I have never seen a prize like this.

Imagine winning your own dream home.

That is something that most people spend a lifetime to achieve.

I need to be style agnostic.

This is not about my personal tastes.

I will be judging them on how it all functions and comes together

as a total vision.

What's the first challenge?

You guys all get to design your dream bedrooms.

Ooh!

CONTESTANTS LAUGH

This is a very personal space, so we get to see who you really are.

I'm going to be looking for three things here.

One is the space around the bed.

Obviously, the headboard is incredibly important.

The side tables, all the things that happen around the magic space.

And second of all - lighting.

A bedroom is all about mood.

So how can you create that cosiness?

How can you make it very nice and comfortable when you're trying

to wind down?

And then the third part is something we probably have an issue with -

storage.

and it's not always about, like, how you hide clothes.

It could be how you display personal items

and just really make the space functional and decorative as well.

I'm looking forward to moving in. Oh, I like it.

In my hand, I have the keys to your apartments.

When your time is up, your doors will be locked and you will then

be judged based on how well you have fit the design brief,

but also flaunted your own creative style.

Hmm.

I have got the keys to someone's future home in my hand as we speak.

Jordan.

I'm hoping to win it and I feel like I will win it,

cos I've got the confidence and the drive to sort of get through

and get to that destination.

Claire H.

The bedroom should be the most thought about room

because you just spend hours and hours in them.

Patrycja.

The biggest challenge of this bedroom design,

um...

I don't know where to start with it, to be honest.

I'm giving the designers four days to turn around their dream bedrooms.

With a brand-new home on the line,

we need to test our designers to the max.

The space needs to breathe who they are. Will it have their USP?

I literally want to just walk into their bedrooms

and be speechless.

Fresh out of uni,

Jordan has got big ambitions for his bedroom design.

So I'm currently living with my mum in Birmingham.

I'm taking part in this challenge

cos, obviously, it's an excellent opportunity,

being able to live in your own apartment that you designed.

So I haven't got to ask my mum for permission to put black

on the walls and the ceilings.

I've not really checked out the competition.

Come on, man, you know I ain't got no worries!

Jordan's gone for the monochrome palette in his urban, sleek bedroom

with white walls, floors and oversized headboard

and a minimal black bed space/

He's using mirrors to bounce the daylight

and a bespoke LED lighting system for when the sun goes down.

I'm going to have the LED surrounding the artwork.

So this is the channel that's going to sit the LED lights in it.

You know, I'm going in it to win it. I'm not here to lose.

I'm not going to back down from a fight.

Um... Yeah.

I am literally like a child at the best playground ever.

Having originally trained as a solicitor,

Tara is now a budding interior designer.

She rents in London with her two daughters.

I live in rented accommodation. I can't do anything.

I can't paint the walls the colours I want them.

As a creative person, it is just... Yeah, absolutely soul destroying.

Tara's romantic boudoir bedroom uses rich, luxurious colours

for the walls and ceiling, plus a floral feature wall.

She's designing her own fitted wardrobe and vanity table

to complete the look.

So I'm just helping out the guys making my built-in wardrobe

with a vanity unit in the middle and LED backlit mirror in the centre.

I thought I had more space.

The vanity was going to be 800mm wide

and I just don't know if that's going to fit now.

For actor John from Glasgow,

creating a home involves bringing all the drama of the theatre.

I'm ready for my close-up, Mr De Mille!

LAUGHTER

The idea for this room was to sort of create a slightly

sort of Georgian feel to the room, and panelling is a great way

to do that. We're getting some pieces of beading

and we're creating boxes.

It's a bit like a picture frame, really.

I'm not a professional designer,

so there is still that feeling of magic about it.

John's dream bedroom involves panelling all four walls,

installing a fireplace

and furnishing with an array of antiques,

including a four-poster bed.

I think the people that know me and love me -

or don't love me or don't like me -

know that my taste in interior design

is not the run-of-the-mill taste in interior design.

I like a sort of timeless country-house elegance.

There's going to be a bit of an overwhelming first impression.

When can we start?

Claire lives with her boyfriend in Devon and has recently started

a business selling her funky upcycled furniture.

I can totally see myself living in this space.

Winning my own property, yeah, it's life changing.

Claire's bedroom combines muted colours

with an oversized palette-style headboard

and monochrome feature wallpaper.

My bedroom design is based on Japan-di style,

so a Japan-stroke-Scandi design, which is very relaxing.

On the bedroom wall, I'm going to be wallpapering it,

which is going on the back wall where the headboard is for the bed.

So is this the...? That's...? That's it. OK.

This is just a screenshot of the pattern itself. Yeah.

It's quite a simple and easy pattern to be able to match up.

So, no, I don't think there should be an issue.

I can feel people are really, like, working hard around me,

and I'm chilled. I'm putting that down to the preparation

and the organisation of it all.

I feel confident.

I have totally moved in in my head.

I'm already sleeping in the bed.

But are Claire and the other designers doing enough to beat

the lockout and remain in the competition?

In Sheffield, it's day two of the competition,

where eight design enthusiasts are building their dream bedrooms.

Succeed and they will make it through to next week.

Fail...

..and they will be locked out of their apartment.

Imagine winning your own dream home. This is such a life-changing prize.

And for the owners of the building,

Tim and Adam from Capital and Centric,

this is a first for them, too.

This is a mad idea.

And I think, given the size of the prize, this could easily

be one of the stupidest things we've ever done in our business.

With buildings all over England,

they take unloved and derelict spaces and transform them.

Their latest is Eyewitness Works in Sheffield.

It's absolutely massive.

It's 97 homes, and we want to do something really radical here.

We wanted to launch the development with design at its heart.

So this is an amazing opportunity for us, as well,

to find the best new talent out there.

But it comes with a massive risk, because we could easily end up

with eight absolutely appalling, unsellable apartments.

The more I think about it, the more nervous I get.

It's kind of a multi-million-pound experiment, this, isn't it?

It could go disastrously wrong.

But we're going to put our faith in these people

and we hope they pull it out the bag.

The brick is beautiful. The rounded edge on this one...

That's not something that you get in new-builds these days.

Professional interior designer Jamie rents in Cardiff

with husband Tom and Humphrey the dog.

I'm taking part in this

because I really want to be able to start setting down some roots.

Tom and I are hoping to start the adoption process soon,

and we want to be able to give a child some stability.

I really don't want to hide these lovely curves

in the brick here.

So I thought shutters would be the best alternative to have in here.

Jamie's Californian casual bedroom involves lime-washing the walls,

adding classic window shutters,

and building one statement shelf to run the entire length of the room.

Lime-wash paint is commonly used as a finish

for traditional building materials,

but using it on interior walls can add character.

When you apply lime-wash paint,

it's always going to create a lot of texture

and little moments on the walls.

And when that light comes in through the windows

in the morning, it's just going to bounce all around these walls

and make it look amazing.

I've got a shelf running the whole length of this room

underneath the windows for decorative items,

kind of getting-ready space.

There's no hanging space, there's no drawers.

I've chosen to take all of that storage out.

That probably is a bit of a bold decision.

Across the courtyard, 21-year-old Polish-born Patrycja is studying

interior design and architecture.

But she's already got one very clear and definitive passion.

The Brutalist movement.

Some people might perceive it as ugly.

I don't think it's ugly at all.

It's my dream bedroom, which is why I've designed it like that.

And now my dungarees is falling apart.

Patrycja's Brutalist bedroom combines concrete wallpaper

with a copper-rail storage system.

The main focal point is her grey-and-black-painted headboard,

complete with bird-themed light installation.

So I'm going to be working on the bed today.

I have never made a bed before.

OK. Do I pick it up on the bottom?

Oh, my God. It's really heavy.

You've got it.

So this is one half of my headboard.

Half of it is going to be black, and the other half is going

to be a grey colour, to make a concrete effect,

and then in the middle, I'm going to cut out a big hole

and then place a nice lighting fixture.

If nothing else in the bedroom is perfect,

I don't mind, as long as the bed is.

Oh, I forgot.

This should be black.

This should be black.

I'm not crying inside whatsoever.

While Patrycja muddles up the paint,

mural artist Claire N is just getting started.

She began her business online

when one of her paintings went viral,

leading to commission after commission.

So, with murals, it's a canvas for me.

It's not a wall. I just create art

and there's a lot of feeling and a lot of emotion in what I do.

Claire's jungle-spa-themed bedroom is centred around her bespoke

hand-painted leafy mural.

She's gone for an adult-sized bunk bed, maximizing storage space

and making room for an inviting bathtub.

I would have liked to be a lot further on at this point.

But it's OK. It's OK.

I can hear my mother in my head shouting at me right now, going,

"You should have planned this!"

This is how I work.

Honey, I'm home!

Hello. Hello.

Now, this is the bed. Yes. So climb up into the bunk

and then you get a good view of the mural.

And, yeah, it's basically... I would say a treehouse, almost.

That's what I'm going for. So did you paint this yourself?

I did, yeah. Mm-hm.

It's amazing. Thank you.

Talk me through it. I started off with a plan of having

this this one leaf sort of everywhere.

And then I stood back, and it was really naff.

I kind of like stalled for a minute in the middle of the day

and was like, "Right, Claire, find your energy."

How does it feel, knowing that all of your hard work

could be in vain, because one of you will be locked out?

I'm not going home. I don't wanna go home.

I don't wanna. I don't wanna.

I'm focused. Good.

And on that focus, I will leave you to it.

Down the corridor,

ex aerospace engineer Justine is also hand-painting

a bespoke wall feature.

Done!

Currently renting in London,

Justine recently started an interiors business which features

incredible optical illusions.

I put a lot of myself into my design. For the lightings,

I'm using a task lighting for the nightstands

and one general lighting in top of the bed.

I'm a real competitor,

as I'm a boxer champion.

I'm here to win. I'm not here to play.

Justine's colourful explosion bedroom

features a rainbow ceiling design, pendant lighting

and a clever bed-based storage hack.

So it's going to work like a puzzle thing.

I will place the chest of drawers all together

to form the frame of the bed, um, for the base.

Oh, wow, Justine!

I love it.

It's so colourful.

I really like to use the ceiling as, like, a fifth wall.

Play with the eye.

Essentially, we are lying in bed, looking up.

We've got to take advantage of that ceiling.

Oh... Do you know what?

I like it.

We're already in bed together, Justine! Yeah!

THEY LAUGH

The designers are now halfway through the challenge,

and some are further along than others.

Claire! Hi. It feels very calm in here.

What do you think?

I'm surprised, because we see you, your funky hairdo,

and I'm thinking,

"Claire is going to give me a colour explosion here, I can see it."

And then it's all Zen and calm, isn't it?

Yeah, that's the idea. I'm glad you're feeling it.

That's intentional? Yes, definitely. Right.

Your wallpaper - talk me through it.

So I've gone for this style.

I love black and white.

I just love the swirl. It's very Japan-di.

So it goes well with my theme.

You've all got these amazing, beautiful styles going on,

but how will you feel if you get locked out?

Well, devastated.

You know, you work so hard coming up with something,

and it's just whether or not if you're on the right path. Who knows?

What are you doing here?

Ohh! I'm loving the lime wash.

Well, I've primed this now, and so this is getting a first coat.

And this is when it looks scary.

But as it dries, it really does start to kind of look really nice.

You can see the texture. See, on this one. Yeah, it's lovely.

It's a bit crazy, this whole experience. Yeah!

THEY LAUGH

Oh, Tara!

This is giving very cosy, very lux, very expensive... Yeah.

Very much like someone's going to knock on the door

and present me with a glass of vino.

Is that how I'm meant to be feeling here? That's exactly it. Yeah.

Because you've got a couple of kids, right? Yeah, I've got two kids.

And do you have this luxury space of your own in your current home?

No. I've never had anything this grand or beautiful.

Oh, wow.

That must feel really special then,

knowing that, at the end of this process,

this literally could be your forever home. Yeah.

I mean, this room already is my dream,

and it's not even finished, but I love it.

This wall is giving what it needs to give!

I'm feeling a little bit stressed.

I've marked out where the LEDs are going to go on the wall.

Waiting for them to arrive.

Jordan. Hello. Hello. Welcome. Welcome to the palace.

You've got the beams. Yeah.

You've got the pipework, you've got the windows.

And what else have you got?

Not a lot.

It's coming. It's coming.

Talk me through the LED light situation.

It's LEDs everywhere. LEDs everywhere, mate? Whoa.

And you like a mirror as well?

Do you like just looking at yourself?

Yeah...

Oh, my! Oh, my!

Yeah...

And have you sized up your competition?

Have you seen any of the other apartments?

I don't spend time watering other people's grass.

I'd rather water my own, so... Oh! I haven't really been bothering.

Oh! I love it, Jordan!

Are you stressed out?

I'm very stressed out.

Um, yeah. Let's just say I'm nowhere near to being done.

Wow. This is amazing.

Do you think so? You've done really well.

I love the panelling here. Thank you.

I didn't expect this from you.

I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this!

I've never been a homeowner,

and if I were to walk away with this prize,

that would be quite special.

That WILL be quite special.

Loving the confidence, John,

but you've still got a four-poster bed to create

and there is only one day to go until everyone faces the lockout.

With only one day left until the apartments are locked,

all eight designers are racing to complete their dream bedrooms.

I have an idea of what it should look like,

and right now we're just not... not at it.

Yeah, I'm ready to rock and roll.

It's pretty much... No, it's not pretty much done.

Tara's bespoke wardrobe and vanity unit took three days to build,

and now she's running out of time to finish the rest of the room.

Fabric is awful.

I just can't get the tension that I need on it.

Legitimately, I'm running out of time now.

Literally got an hour and a half left

and these lights haven't even arrived.

If they don't come in time, I might have to rip the whole thing off.

Time is ticking. Here we go.

It looks good.

So the headboard is done.

And I had a last-minute decision to spray-paint and do some graffiti

on my mirror panel.

Ready?

Now I feel really under pressure

to make sure that I do the right thing.

I don't know if I like it now.

I think I preferred the clean look.

SHE SIGHS

MAN SINGS AN ARIA

These are a bit too modern for in here, aren't they?

Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all?

My LEDs arrived a little bit later than I expected,

but everything else is looking good. Party pad, innit?

There's going to be a disco in here!

HE LAUGHS

With the final day of the challenge complete,

the apartments are now locked.

The king has left his castle. Here I am.

It's all about what Dara thinks.

And I'm pretty sure I've covered her brief.

I am not going home.

I'm not going home.

Uh-uh.

I literally want to just walk into their bedrooms

and be speechless.

The queen is back. How are you, darling?

I'm just incredibly nervous to see what everybody's done here.

I think you're going to be impressed.

There's a feast for the eyes. Let's go and have a look around.

Absolutely. After you. Come on. The suspense is killing me.

Thank you. My arm, darling.

I really don't know what Dara will make of my room.

Couldn't have given it any more.

So if this is not good enough, I had nothing else to give.

Ooh. Very romantic.

Are you ready for love? DARA LAUGHS

OK! I dig it.

She obviously listened to the brief.

These are very functional.

They all have storage.

There's different sorts of lighting.

There's the pendant lighting above, that's decorative,

and then there's hidden lighting behind the mirror.

She has a closet which dubs as a vanity table.

It's a little bit deep, because a closet only needs

to be 600 deep.

But, still, she even put a feature wall in the back.

Everything she's executed has been flawlessly done.

I think what sets me apart from the other contestants

is the fact that...

..I think about those small details.

OK!

Now we're talking.

This actually feels like a proper, sophisticated room.

I do love the shutters.

I feel like it adds so much texture and materiality to the room.

I feel like I'm on holiday.

Limewash is actually a finish that looks very expensive.

Is there anything that he has missed, though?

I just don't love that there's no storage.

Like, where do your clothes go?

And simply just put a rail on this wall.

He has the depth.

No-one's looking around the corner.

It could have added to that minimalistic style.

I mean, one thing I really do appreciate is how he's made

this ledge go all the way across the room and put artwork

where you would otherwise have nothing.

So that was very clever.

The boy's done good.

I would 100% move into that flat right now if that was my room.

It has got that wow factor in that there's so many different

elements to it.

And I hope Dara sees and just enjoys that expression.

Wow. Wow.

I just think it works.

I know this is adventurous, but I actually love the idea of a tub

in a bedroom.

It's very trendy in the hotel world right now.

And here they've actually elevated the bed

and they've created this amazing closet

where we can just hide everything and just close the curtains.

And I actually love that she hand-painted the wall.

Yeah, you like the mural? I do. Because this is her thing.

This is very artistic.

What are the cons?

So the cons of having a bunk bed, you can't sit anywhere.

I want to be able to come into my room and relax and chill.

Yeah. You know, and right now, I don't feel chill.

Overall unless anything major happens,

I think it's all right.

I'm really pleased with how the room looks.

How could I not be?

The craftsmanship in that room is phenomenal.

Whoa!

I'm trying to be very style-agnostic and just look at execution.

OK.

So tell me what you like.

So, I really like the fact that they thought about all

of the surfaces in every aspect.

For example, they panelled the walls.

The entire room is panelled.

Yeah, he panelled the bathroom door and the front door,

which is just showing sensitivity to details.

But what about the features that you were looking for, the bed,

the storage, the lighting?

So, there's a lot of utility functions with the side tables

and the low light.

He's covered the storage with the closet.

You know, he's put some good shelving space around,

a faux fireplace.

Do you like the four-poster bed?

It's interesting, cos when you walk in, you're just like,

"Whoa, it's too small for this."

I think maybe one thing I would have done is you can actually

have what's called a faux corner bed.

And what that means is you have the verticals,

but you actually don't have the horizontals.

So it's an implied four-poster bed.

He definitely did his own thing.

I bet he has matching pyjamas and, you know, and he's probably,

like, getting all snuggly in this bed.

I think the way that my brutalist interior design ideas

are going to be perceived in the apartment is going to be...

Truthfully, I have no idea.

It's definitely, um, different.

You know, I'm trying to get into her headspace and trying

to understand.

Her headspace is brutalism. Ah.

So for me, this, you know, it's not quite brutalism, but it's something.

I'm just trying to like, kind of, you know, I see the moon

and the posters, but then she's got, like, this jungle thing going on.

As an interior designer, the first thing

you have to have down is the concept.

And right now I am confused on what that concept is.

I like her creativity.

Like, to make a moon headboard is amazing, but I think

that these are a little bit bright for side lights.

The closet, you know, she only has one level of hang.

So what about, like, tall coats? OK.

I just think overall, though, what she really needed

was, like, a clear concept.

It's just kind of a lot of mixed messages here.

We've got a lot of strong candidates here.

Me being one of them, of course.

Gosh. Oh, whoa, whoa.

This is a guy's bedroom.

This is a total guy's bedroom.

Especially the mirror in front of the bed, I'm just saying.

THEY LAUGH

It's a lot of personality.

It really expresses Jordan.

He's actually made his own bed base, which I think is super-cool,

cos it's very low-level zen Japanese vibe.

I do feel like it could be slightly cosier.

I appreciate that he uses what looks like linoleum type of flooring

of this fake marble.

To me, it just says, like, cheap kitchen, you know?

And also, he could have maybe utilised these niches and put some,

you know, at least a pillow here,

to just invite someone to kind of sit down and read a book.

He's not reading a book in this room.

I don't think I've played it safe in the bedroom at all.

I feel confident that I have gone for it.

It has kind of a positive vibe, doesn't it?

It really does.

So Claire was really going for Japan Day, which is Japanese

meets Scandinavian vibe.

Do you think she's nailed that? Yes.

The look and the style, I feel this is very Japan-di.

I love the bedspread, the tones.

But I'm also looking for functionality and technicalities.

That motif that she's done behind the bed shows

that she has real a skill set as an artist.

The wallpaper.

Is this wallpaper? That's wallpaper.

No way.

I mean, I love the wallpaper.

It ties in really well with the pillows.

I just would have liked to see more of her.

That's all.

And there's some missed opportunities.

So, for example, this space here, if it was me, I would have just made

this whole thing closet.

Same here.

This is opportunity for either, like, a small, like, desk space.

I do feel like she did a great job, but I feel like she's just

playing it safe.

It's just a bit too generic, isn't it? Yeah.

Have to always be yourself, cos that will definitely put

you far above the rest of the competition.

Are you bored?

I'm definitely not bored, but I do spot a few

missed opportunities here.

That could have definitely been something that was unique

and personal to her.

I want to surprise Dara, because that's always

what I'm looking for, is the element of surprise.

Whoa. Hmm.

I love this.

I mean, I'm obsessed.

I love colour. This is my bedroom.

I love the fact that they looked at all the services,

including the ceiling.

And she's the first person I've seen keep the brick.

What I really love are these blobby shapes on the wall

and how she's turned it into a shelf and a mirror.

She has a very clever way of using shapes and colours.

The storage. DARA GASPS

She's taken some storage units and she's created a bed base.

That is very, very, very creative.

I have to say, that might be my favourite thing about this room.

She only has one type of lighting.

It's an incandescent bulb, which is not exactly relaxing.

I'm not understanding the lighting strategy here.

I'm just...that's the only thing.

While Dara's critical eye takes it all in...

..all the designers can do now is wait to see if they've done enough

to keep the keys to their potential home for one more week.

to build their dream bedrooms in the bid to win a home.

Owners Tim and Adam are on-site and eager to see

whether this extraordinary design gamble has paid off.

Well, it's bold, isn't it?

I think it feels really original.

It feels brave as a result, because you haven't really seen

anything like this.

I feel like I've walked into a nightclub.

THEY LAUGH

It's been done very well.

I mean, it's sort of been done beautifully in a way, but it feels

a bit like a bed and breakfast in the Cotswolds.

I can see that she's trying to make it calm and chill and zen, but I do

wonder if it's...if it could have done with a bit of colour.

We've actually ended up with eight completely different designs,

which I think's really interested and really exciting for the future.

I've been really encouraged by what I've seen so far.

I'm still super-nervous about what I might see next time

I come back, because I've seen some moments of brilliance and I've seen

some stuff that's actually quite frightening as well, you know,

and great design is great for business.

That's what we know. But also bad design is disastrous.

We're relying on Dara to make sure that she locks out

the right contestant

so we're left with the very best at the end.

How you all feeling?

ALL: Nervous.

Well, firstly, guys, I just really want to thank

you all for all of the effort that you've put

into your bedrooms this week.

You've done a fantastic job.

However, I do have to give some feedback.

Jordan, you have a beautiful eye.

However, I'm not sure about the choice of the flooring.

It could have been a lot cosier and more functional for a bedroom.

Jamie, I thought the creativity of that shelf going all the way

through was fantastic.

However, there's no closet space.

John, I thought your room literally just transported us.

And I especially loved the detailing on the back of the doors.

Claire, I was incredibly impressed with that jungle wall mural.

I couldn't believe you hand-painted that.

The space-planning could have been better with maybe soft

seating and maybe a rug.

Justine, wow. The colours are unbelievable.

You're obviously a very talented artist.

The lighting on the side and in the pendant were all the same.

And you want different types of lighting.

Tara, your room was the concept that really saw its way

from end to end.

Claire, firstly, I loved your design.

However, I was really disappointed that I didn't feel

like it was really you and your personality.

Patrycja, incredible ambition.

I mean, you are the only person that had a full-on installation

in your room.

However, I was a little bit confused on what the concept was.

It almost felt like you weren't being confident enough.

So, do you have your key cards ready?

Yes. Yeah.

Oh!

My heart just sank.

You now need to return to your apartments one by one.

Our designers must now attempt to re-enter their apartments.

Green, and they remain in the competition.

Red, and they have been locked out.

I don't want to have any regrets.

I just want to give it my all.

I dream of having my own home.

This is out of my comfort zone.

I am not an interior designer.

I do believe I have massively hit the brief.

I am super-confident with my ideas.

It's just such an amazing opportunity that I've been given.

Oh, have I put enough into it?

I've taken quite a big risk with it.

BEEP

BEEP

BEEP

BEEP

BEEP

HE GASPS AND LAUGHS

SHE SIGHS AND LAUGHS

On the way to the corridor, I was dying, walking down,

yeah, it was, it was scary.

BEEP

Well, I'm through. That's coconuts, innit?

I'm feeling really good.

I can't even describe, like, the feeling

of just seeing the green light.

See that in my hand? We did it.

We got there.

OK.

OK!

Passed.

Unfortunately, this week, I had to let Claire go.

I just didn't feel like it was uniquely hers.

It just wasn't personal enough.

Obviously gutted. Completely gutted.

But I'm so proud of what I've done.

Well done, you guys. Well done.

Is it awkward now for you?Yep. Get off me. THEY LAUGH

The competition has truly begun.

Next time on The Big Interiors Battle,

it's hotting up.

Week two, kitchen week, it's my absolute favourite week.

Go, go, go!

The competition just got real.

But who has got the secret ingredient?

Kitchens are terrifying to me.

And who will crash and burn?

Honestly, it looks like a cheap strip club.
