Let's talk about the Mesh Tool. 2 00:00:02.09 --> 00:00:06.05 So the Mesh Tool can be found in your toolbox over here. 3 00:00:06.05 --> 00:00:09.07 And so let's double-click and kind of look at what this is. 4 00:00:09.07 --> 00:00:14.05 So the mesh is a multi-faceted element 5 00:00:14.05 --> 00:00:16.07 that can represent the ground plane 6 00:00:16.07 --> 00:00:19.04 and you can use it to kind of delineate 7 00:00:19.04 --> 00:00:21.07 the surface of your project. 8 00:00:21.07 --> 00:00:23.08 And it can be shown in a couple of different ways 9 00:00:23.08 --> 00:00:26.06 so you can have a solid internally 10 00:00:26.06 --> 00:00:31.00 and a skirt around it and the surface of it. 11 00:00:31.00 --> 00:00:34.01 It can just have the skirt and the surface, 12 00:00:34.01 --> 00:00:36.01 or it can just have the surface. 13 00:00:36.01 --> 00:00:39.08 And you can change what kind of material it's made out of, 14 00:00:39.08 --> 00:00:43.03 and you can change the location of where it is. 15 00:00:43.03 --> 00:00:46.01 Sometimes I put this on a story 16 00:00:46.01 --> 00:00:47.08 that's below the first story. 17 00:00:47.08 --> 00:00:49.02 You'll start to figure that out 18 00:00:49.02 --> 00:00:51.06 once you get a little bit more into this. 19 00:00:51.06 --> 00:00:56.00 So if I do put it on a story that's below my first floor 20 00:00:56.00 --> 00:01:00.01 I will just have it show up on the story above it 21 00:01:00.01 --> 00:01:05.05 and we can adjust what the surfaces are of that mesh. 22 00:01:05.05 --> 00:01:10.03 And then finally, we can adjust the layer. 23 00:01:10.03 --> 00:01:16.05 So I'm going to put this on L Site 3D and say okay. 24 00:01:16.05 --> 00:01:19.03 And because that layer is off, right when I click, 25 00:01:19.03 --> 00:01:20.09 it's going to ask me "Do you want to show that layer 26 00:01:20.09 --> 00:01:22.03 "or do you want to choose another layer?" 27 00:01:22.03 --> 00:01:25.07 So I'm going to say "Show that layer." 28 00:01:25.07 --> 00:01:29.04 And I can create this in a couple of different ways. 29 00:01:29.04 --> 00:01:31.08 I can create it by the poly method 30 00:01:31.08 --> 00:01:33.01 that we've been using before, 31 00:01:33.01 --> 00:01:36.02 I can do just a rectilinear method 32 00:01:36.02 --> 00:01:40.04 and then I can also do it so that it's creating the slopes 33 00:01:40.04 --> 00:01:42.04 through its own settings. 34 00:01:42.04 --> 00:01:44.09 And so what I'm going to do, 35 00:01:44.09 --> 00:01:47.06 I'm going to use a technique that we've been using before. 36 00:01:47.06 --> 00:01:49.06 This just saves me some time. 37 00:01:49.06 --> 00:01:51.00 I'm just going to push the spacebar. 38 00:01:51.00 --> 00:01:52.02 I have the tool selected. 39 00:01:52.02 --> 00:01:53.06 I have the settings that I want, 40 00:01:53.06 --> 00:01:58.00 and I'm just going to click on the edge of the zone 41 00:01:58.00 --> 00:01:59.07 that I created earlier. 42 00:01:59.07 --> 00:02:05.01 And now I have this mesh 43 00:02:05.01 --> 00:02:11.05 but what I really want to do is I'm going to hide this zone. 44 00:02:11.05 --> 00:02:13.05 So here's the mesh 45 00:02:13.05 --> 00:02:16.06 and what I'm going to do is I want to create 46 00:02:16.06 --> 00:02:19.00 the actual mesh of the site. 47 00:02:19.00 --> 00:02:22.04 So I'm just turning back on the trace 48 00:02:22.04 --> 00:02:25.00 of the site survey that we have 49 00:02:25.00 --> 00:02:28.08 and what I could do to create this is I'm going to 50 00:02:28.08 --> 00:02:30.08 take my pen line tool 51 00:02:30.08 --> 00:02:34.01 and I'm just going to choose a different layer for this. 52 00:02:34.01 --> 00:02:37.07 So let's put this on the drafting layer, 53 00:02:37.07 --> 00:02:39.04 'cause I'm just using this to 54 00:02:39.04 --> 00:02:41.05 kind of create some information. 55 00:02:41.05 --> 00:02:42.05 So I could do it this way. 56 00:02:42.05 --> 00:02:46.04 So I can go around and kind of click through 57 00:02:46.04 --> 00:02:50.03 and get like kind of a best fit. 58 00:02:50.03 --> 00:02:54.06 And these are the contours that I'm following. 59 00:02:54.06 --> 00:02:56.09 So I could do it that way. 60 00:02:56.09 --> 00:03:00.03 Another way I could do it is I'm going to go 61 00:03:00.03 --> 00:03:02.05 to the survey itself. 62 00:03:02.05 --> 00:03:06.02 So I'm going to use this changed my reference. 63 00:03:06.02 --> 00:03:09.01 So now I'm going to go back to the reference to this. 64 00:03:09.01 --> 00:03:14.09 And so I'm going to select that but I need to ungroup these. 65 00:03:14.09 --> 00:03:17.06 And so I'm going to take these groupings, 66 00:03:17.06 --> 00:03:21.01 I'm going to suspend groups. 67 00:03:21.01 --> 00:03:25.01 That's leaving me with just this survey line. 68 00:03:25.01 --> 00:03:28.06 And what I'm going to do is I'm going to hide others 69 00:03:28.06 --> 00:03:32.07 so it leaves me with most of the surveys, 70 00:03:32.07 --> 00:03:34.09 not sure what that line is, 71 00:03:34.09 --> 00:03:37.01 but I'm not worried about it right now. 72 00:03:37.01 --> 00:03:43.09 And then I'm going to invert my survey 73 00:03:43.09 --> 00:03:46.04 or I'm going to go back to the floor plan. 74 00:03:46.04 --> 00:03:47.08 And so nothing's showing up. 75 00:03:47.08 --> 00:03:50.03 So I just want to turn on 76 00:03:50.03 --> 00:03:52.06 the mesh itself that I was working with. 77 00:03:52.06 --> 00:03:56.07 So that was found on L Sites, 78 00:03:56.07 --> 00:03:58.02 so let me just turn that one on. 79 00:03:58.02 --> 00:04:01.06 And so there's the outline of our site. 80 00:04:01.06 --> 00:04:08.00 And what I can do is if I push the alter option button 81 00:04:08.00 --> 00:04:11.08 and click on the mesh, that highlights the mesh. 82 00:04:11.08 --> 00:04:15.06 And so this allows me to do something really unique. 83 00:04:15.06 --> 00:04:18.04 It allows me to push the spacebar 84 00:04:18.04 --> 00:04:23.08 and depending on what I'm selecting, 85 00:04:23.08 --> 00:04:25.04 so I'm going to do one thing before I do that. 86 00:04:25.04 --> 00:04:28.01 I'm going to just remove all my guidelines. 87 00:04:28.01 --> 00:04:33.00 So I can go in here and click on that line 88 00:04:33.00 --> 00:04:34.01 that's the reference 89 00:04:34.01 --> 00:04:38.07 and I'm just going to save, Fit to User Ridges and say okay. 90 00:04:38.07 --> 00:04:42.09 And so that's giving me the contours. 91 00:04:42.09 --> 00:04:45.08 And so if I could do that again, I can go through 92 00:04:45.08 --> 00:04:49.07 and it's going to allow me to quickly go through this. 93 00:04:49.07 --> 00:04:51.08 The only caveat to this is that 94 00:04:51.08 --> 00:04:54.03 sometimes when things like this happen, 95 00:04:54.03 --> 00:04:55.06 it can mess you up a little bit. 96 00:04:55.06 --> 00:05:00.00 So I'm just going to go back, just Command + Z or Control + Z, 97 00:05:00.00 --> 00:05:02.02 and I'm going to show you a different way to do this. 98 00:05:02.02 --> 00:05:04.08 So I still have the tool selected 99 00:05:04.08 --> 00:05:10.02 and so if I wanted to start to follow these contours 100 00:05:10.02 --> 00:05:18.01 I can click the line and start to trace it around 101 00:05:18.01 --> 00:05:21.08 and that'll allow me to follow the contours. 102 00:05:21.08 --> 00:05:24.06 Once you start to get comfortable with this 103 00:05:24.06 --> 00:05:28.04 now you need to elevate the contours. 104 00:05:28.04 --> 00:05:30.08 And so I fit to user ridges. 105 00:05:30.08 --> 00:05:33.02 And so let's look at this look closer. 106 00:05:33.02 --> 00:05:35.08 So this is saying it's at 97 feet 107 00:05:35.08 --> 00:05:39.00 and so what's my lowest one? 108 00:05:39.00 --> 00:05:46.00 So these are at, this is 97. This looks like it's 96. 109 00:05:46.00 --> 00:05:52.01 So 96, 95, 94, 93 92 110 00:05:52.01 --> 00:05:54.02 and it looks like there's like a 91 there. 111 00:05:54.02 --> 00:05:57.09 So what I can do is I can elevate this. 112 00:05:57.09 --> 00:06:03.00 So this is one, two, three, four, five, six feet higher. 113 00:06:03.00 --> 00:06:05.02 So I grab that node 114 00:06:05.02 --> 00:06:09.06 and if I click the Z button, elevate mesh, 115 00:06:09.06 --> 00:06:16.01 and I say apply to all of the pieces of that line 116 00:06:16.01 --> 00:06:19.03 or everything that's connected to that one contour, 117 00:06:19.03 --> 00:06:21.01 I can raise that 6 feet 118 00:06:21.01 --> 00:06:24.01 and then I'm going to raise this one 119 00:06:24.01 --> 00:06:28.06 and it's already selected in that elevate. 120 00:06:28.06 --> 00:06:34.06 So just put 7 feet and let's just make this 8 feet 121 00:06:34.06 --> 00:06:36.01 and this one is 8 feet 122 00:06:36.01 --> 00:06:39.05 because it's not connected through around that. 123 00:06:39.05 --> 00:06:42.02 And let's make this 10 feet. 124 00:06:42.02 --> 00:06:44.03 So let's look at that in 3D. 125 00:06:44.03 --> 00:06:50.01 And so show selection in 3D, I just right-click on it. 126 00:06:50.01 --> 00:06:53.04 And you can see pretty quickly here, 127 00:06:53.04 --> 00:06:59.03 I can start to get a little bit of a contour or a Topo map. 128 00:06:59.03 --> 00:07:03.09 And so it looks like one of these lines didn't really get 129 00:07:03.09 --> 00:07:05.01 to the right height. 130 00:07:05.01 --> 00:07:07.08 So let's just elevate that and so I'm going to elevate it 131 00:07:07.08 --> 00:07:10.09 and I can do it individually. 132 00:07:10.09 --> 00:07:12.03 And then I can slide over 133 00:07:12.03 --> 00:07:17.02 and start to fix the little anomalies that are happening. 134 00:07:17.02 --> 00:07:19.00 So it looks like there's a few extra points 135 00:07:19.00 --> 00:07:20.05 that got created there. 136 00:07:20.05 --> 00:07:22.02 So that's one thing to be cognizant of 137 00:07:22.02 --> 00:07:24.09 as you start to create these meshes 138 00:07:24.09 --> 00:07:26.06 but this gives you a good idea 139 00:07:26.06 --> 00:07:29.05 of how quickly you can create a mesh. 140 00:07:29.05 --> 00:07:31.01 There are a few other ways, 141 00:07:31.01 --> 00:07:33.01 and we'll talk about that later in the course, 142 00:07:33.01 --> 00:07:35.00 how you can quickly bring in a mesh. 11499
