So how'd that go?
When I started girl boss, I came up with

a mission statement, so I'm going to
share with you.

We give women the tools, connections and
resources to advance.

And our core value is we exist for
millennial women to redefine success on

her own terms.

And now for business class, here's what I

wrote as a mission, and this is a work in
progress.

We build community by educating
entrepreneurs to create sustainable,

profitable businesses that enrich their
lives.

And now on to our values.

One, no fluff, we're here to provide

utility and motivation 2 but we like to
keep it simple.

When we may talk about complex topics, we
break it down for everyone and anyone who

is ready to commit and to learn.

Three, half personality.

Business education doesn't have to be
stiff.

We value design and we like to have fun
along the way.

And four, this is an important one, make
an impact.

We want to create measurable, positive
outcomes for our students.

Nailing the mission statement may take
some time, but it's really important for

a couple of reasons.

The mission statement tells your customer

what you care about and customers invest
in companies they believe in.

Also, concise Mission statement provides
a clear lens through which your team can

make decisions.
Having fluency around a centralized

mission allows for decentralized decision
making and that's a game changer for a

small business or any business.

You don't want to be sitting around

making every little decision.

You won't be able to create or grow that

way. Instead, you want your employees to know

the mission well so they can make good
decisions based on that mission.
