Original subtitles

- Chinese Kung Fu is a very ancient form of martial arts,

requiring a great deal of self discipline.

It's meant for self-defense and exercise,

not aggression and killing.

And it imposes strict rules,

for instance, it needs continual practice.

The pupil must be humble and at all times, reasonable.

He must protect the weak and the rights of the individual.

He mustn't demand money or ever commit a crime.

He must avoid the sins of the flesh.

Show respect to his teacher.

He must judge impartially and act mercifully.

Destroy the bear, sucker the bull.

Even if necessary, sacrifice himself.

And if he does stray,

then eventually his day of reckoning will come.

He'll have brought his fate on himself.

So Chinese Kung Fu requires constant practice,

both physical and spiritual.

This film demonstrates these basic rules

as a guide to a better life.

(adventurous music)

(rooster crowing)

(chickens squawking)

(man yawns)

- Hey, good morning.

- Morning.

(peaceful music)

- Hello.

You can come watch me practice if you like.

(man grunting)

- Hey teacher, morning.

- Hey, good girl.

Just stand over the side there and watch me, okay?

- Uh-huh.

- Now watch me carefully now.

(man grunting)

(girl whimpers)

- Hey!

(hand slapping)

Why you fighting me for? - Why shouldn't we?

- Help, stop it.

Stop it, help.

Let go!

- Now stop it, you two!

Break it up, the pair of you!

- Chow Ying, why must you always be fighting?

- But they started it!

I didn't want to fight.

- Chow Ying.

(woman gasps)

Chow Ying! (ominous music)

Oh Chow Ying.

Chow Ying.

Chow Ying, you must not die.

Oh, Chow Ying. (crying)

- Here, let me have at him.

- Chow Ying.

First I lost your young brother,

and now you, Chow Ying. (crying)

Chow Ying.

- Huh, you're both in disgrace.

I've told you both before not to fight.

Get out!

(woman crying)

Please try and be calm, the boy's only fainted.

Quickly, carry him inside the house.

- His young brother got lost for months during the war.

Now this boy is the only son I have left.

If he should now die,

I, I don't know what I'd do. (sobbing)

- Hey, stop your crying.

He's awake!

(hopeful music)

- Chow Ying, oh.

- Mother, mother. - Chow Ying.

Oh, my son.

Thank the Lord that you're alive.

Teacher, oh thank you.

You have saved his life.

- Oh, it's all right.

- Why not stay here with us.

These are hard times we're living in.

There's plenty of work to do here.

She can stay here, what do you say?

- I do need someone to help with all the laundry.

(water splashing)

(peaceful music)

(person grunting)

(peaceful music)

- Chow Ying.

- Oh.

- What are you doing out here?

- I came to help you washing.

- Nevermind, go off and play.

- Oh.

(water splashing)

- Come on.

Come on, come on, now.

One more time.

Now watch me carefully.

(man grunting)

Okay, now, now move the hand.

That's it now, once again.

Come on. (boy wailing)

- You come along with me.

(boy wincing)

You not meant to watch them, you understand?

If you do, I will take you away from here.

Is that clear to you?

- Hm.

- Good, now go run out and play.

- Hm.

(peaceful music)

(boy whimpering)

- You know, your Kung Fu is pretty good,

better than my brother's.

- I learned from watching them.

(man laughs)

- From now on, you don't have to watch me.

You can be my pupil, okay?

- Really, can I really?

- Come on, hurry up, bow to your teacher.

- Oh.

Teacher.

- Now you must bow to me as well.

I'm your sister.

(man laughs)

- But you're much younger than he is, it's not right.

- But I started learning first.

(man laughs)

- Sister.

(upbeat music)

- Don't bow like that.

I was only trying to tease you.

- Hey, sister, you always behave like this?

What if someone should see us?

- Haven't I told you before, don't call me sister.

- Hey, but that what you asked me to call you.

- But if people heard you,

they'd think I was older, and I'm not.

- Well now, but you are bigger than me.

(woman whimpering)

(man grunting)

- Oh, what's the matter?

- I feel sick.

You're the mistress, you can give me orders.

You started learning first.

You see, I have no choice.

What I'm saying is right.

All right, I won't call you sister then.

- That's good.

Let's practice then.

- Huh, but I can't, not in front of you.

- Right, I challenge you.

(people grunting)

- Huh?

You all right?

- You're a good for nothing.

You're an ungrateful slob.

How come you're trying to mess around with my sister?

- She only asked me to help her.

- I did ask him, now go away.

- Hm, you get the hell outta here!

Take, oh! (hits smacking)

- You must fight him back.

Go and fight!

- Come on, ya bastard.

Come on and get it, God damn it.

(men chuckling)

(men grunting)

- What's up now?

Had enough?

(hits smacking)

- Oh, oh!

- I told you not to pick fights, why don't you listen?

- Why should we?

He's our servant, I can hit him if I want.

If he's hurt, I'll pay for a doctor.

(tense music)

- Chow Ying.

- Hey, and we pay you to teach us, not him.

So how come you find time to teach him?

- He wants to learn, that's why he learns fast.

- You're not to teach him anymore.

- What did you say?

I'm your teacher, show respect.

- And why not?

You're our employee.

You better obey.

(man grunting)

- Teacher.

- Teacher.

Teacher.

Teacher.

- Chow Ying, your Kung Fu's good, keep up the exercises.

You understand? - Uh-huh.

- You must practice.

Now, I must leave you.

- Teacher.

Teacher, I only hope before you'll leave

that you'll teach me some of the death blows.

- Kung Fu mustn't be used for killing.

Just stay calm, always.

You'll be alert to everything.

You fight well.

All right now, just follow me.

(mysterious music)

- Master.

- Who is this?

- It's Chow Ying.

- Chow Ying, come here.

Pay your respects.

- Sir.

Master.

- He's your pupil?

- Uh-huh.

- Not now, he's your pupil.

I must go, so I leave him with you.

(speaking in foreign language)

- I'm not sure.

- Don't you worry, he's good and intelligent.

For my sake, please accept.

(peaceful music)

- Chow Ying, over here.

- Uh-huh.

(man grunting)

- Not bad.

(man grunting)

Now remember these basic rules when you fight.

Speed, strength, accuracy, guile, cunning,

these are your weapons.

When you must fight, remember this,

only attack where there's an opening.

If he doesn't move, you don't more.

Once he moves, you attack.

Never hesitate.

And when you strike, make it hard and fast.

But retreat wisely.

If you're in danger, then don't just rush in,

but seize your chances.

Keep moving the whole time, striking hard and fast.

- Master.

I've already been taught these rules,

and I think I understand them.

What I'd really like is to learn the death moves.

- Chow Ying, there is no special move that is best.

It all depends, any move could be best.

It's up to you when the time's right to move correctly,

accurately and with great speed, like this.

(men grunting)

(intense music)

(man chuckling)

(intense music)

(man chuckling)

You must remember, to learn Kung Fu, be humble.

The proud will lose.

To fight properly, there is one way.

- I understand that.

- Now you're ready for travel.

You're skillful enough to deal with any trouble.

I hope that you do well.

Just keep to the right way.

- You've been most kind, master.

I'm going home now.

- Master, three young men say they would like to see you.

- Who are they?

- I don't know.

- Master Chen.

- Sit down.

- Do you remember us, Master Chen?

- I'm sorry, I can't say that I do.

- Oh.

That's too bad.

We're the three tigers.

(ominous music)

Remember?

- And now, what can I do for you?

- The three of us are tired.

We've been traveling and we run out of cash.

So we've come to see you to ask your help.

- Bring me out three bags of coins.

- Here they are.

- Master Chen, don't insult us, we're not beggers.

- It's the (speaking in foreign language),

$10 for each man.

- I'm retired, I'm not rich.

I don't have sacks of money lying around.

(intense music)

- I reckon $100 is more reasonable.

- Hey, we've come a long way.

Give us $100 and then we'll go.

- Uh-huh.

- That's too much, get out.

(men grunting) (strikes smacking)

- All right fellas, this is it.

I'll have me another bashing.

(men grunting)

- Oh, you're real tough, sister.

- Let me try.

(men chuckling) (woman whimpering)

Give us a kiss, huh?

(strike smacking)

(men chuckling) (woman whimpering)

(tense music)

(strike smacking)

(ominous music)

- Release her.

- Okay.

Give us some money and I'll let her go.

(man grunting)

- Master Chen, you're getting old.

(intense music) (men laughing)

- Chow Ying, help me!

Chow Ying!

- What's wrong?

- They, they won't let me go.

(men grunting)

Chow Ying, thanks.

- Don't be scared, it's over.

(men mumbling)

- Mom, stop fooling around.

Just go and get the doctor, help, please.

- Stop your whining!

You're useless, both of you.

Chow Ying, how can I thank you?

- You saved my life.

What's wrong, you're bleeding?

- Huh?

- It's all my fault.

- I'm okay. - Get him, get him.

- But...

- Oh, this isn't mine, it's their blood.

They never got near enough to me.

- Stop fooling around, mom, get the doctor.

(man screaming)

- I can't stand it!

The pain's killing me. - The doctor's coming.

Don't worry.

- Oh, oh, oh!

- If it's broken,

you sound in good health with your shouting.

- Oh, get out, get out.

- I'm in agony!

I need a doctor now.

Mom, stop fooling around.

Go on, get him now.

- Hey Tomi, how's your leg?

- Dad, it hurts real bad.

Hurry, ma, hurry.

(man screaming)

- Be patient, in a while you'll be able to walk.

(man whimpering)

- Are you still hurt?

- Uh-huh.

Hey, I'm better.

- Chow Ying, you practice medicine?

- Hm.

- Chow Ying, come and look after me as well.

- Huh, you just told me to get out.

Now you want me to stay.

Just what am I gonna do?

(man whimpering)

- Brother Ying, be merciful, take pity on him.

He's suffering a lot of pain.

- All right, for Ying, I'll do it,

but it's not for you.

Just relax, you'll be all right.

(man wailing)

- Master, how are you?

(peaceful music)

- He saved my dear daughter.

This gift is by way of gratitude.

- No no, please don't.

Mr Chen, you've taken care of us all these years.

The least we could do is try and help.

- Those three young men he beat,

they're known as the three tigers.

They're mean fighters.

Chow Ying, I must say, you're Kung Fu is very good.

- Well, it makes no difference to me what they're called.

If they make trouble, I hit 'em hard.

They bleed the same.

- I've taken you into my family.

Now you save Chow Ping, it's fate.

You have been sent here.

I've decided I will let you marry Chow Ping.

- But,

Master Chen.

- Now I have here a letter.

He's a friend of mine, he'll look after you in the city.

When you've made a success,

you can return here and marry her.

- Master Chen, you're most kind.

You shouldn't bother, really.

We have troubled you enough.

- If Chow Ping is willing, how can you refuse my offer?

- Mr Chen, I can't leave you here.

Those three men might come back.

- Oh, that's all right, I've rehired the Kung Fu teacher,

and I've told my sons to apologize to him.

He's agreed, there'll be no more trouble.

(intense music)

- Hand over your money, then you may pass.

- Chow Ping, I looked everywhere for you,

and now you're trying to rob me.

- How'd you know it was me?

- Oh.

- I've come to say goodbye to you.

- Thank you, but you're far from home.

On your way back, you could be attacked once again.

You shouldn't go taking such risks.

- After you beat up those three so called tigers,

no one would dare to while you're around.

- All right, I'll take you home then.

Come on, let's go.

- All right.

(peaceful music)

(lively music) (people chattering)

- Good morning, sir.

Won't you come in?

- What's the name of this place?

- Oh, it's called Yu Li Inn.

We serve good foon and we have excellent pie.

- You have rooms for the night?

- Oh, yes.

What kind of room?

We have all kinds.

Small up to very big.

What kind do you fancy?

Come inside with me.

Come on.

Boss.

This guy here, he wants a room for the night.

- Your name, sir?

- Chow Ying, Wong Chow Ying.

- Oh.

Would you like to pay a small sums deposit now?

- Lovely.

- Here, is this enough?

- Oh, of course, please.

- Hey, what's going on over there?

- Side street show.

- Side street show? - Yes.

- Wow, guess I'll take a closer look at that.

(lively music)

(people applauding)

- Oh yeah.

Huh?

I don't know.

Hey, why don't we go over there, huh?

- What's that?

- Hey!

Hey, get out of the way, get!

(people yelling)

- Huh?

What are you doing?

What do you want here?

- Do you have my permission to be here, huh?

- What? - God damn it!

(hit smacking)

Outta here.

- No, wait a moment.

I'll talk.

(people chattering)

Mister, please do us a favor.

- Hey, that girl, is she your daughter?

- No.

Mister, you can't go talking like that.

- What do you mean?

I want that girl!

- Uh-uh.

This time you've gone too far.

(men grunting)

- Hold on.

- God damn it.

Know who I am?

I'll kill you.

(men grunting)

Get him!

(men yelling)

- Wait just a minute.

(hit smacking)

- Oh!

(men grunting)

- That'll teach you, you little bastard.

(man whimpering)

(hits smacking)

- Let's get outta here!

- Yeah, okay! - Get outta here!

- Yeah, yeah boss.

- Quick, quick let's get outta here!

- Mister, we'd like to thank you very much for your help.

- It's no trouble.

I can't stand bullies, they always get my temper up.

- Hey mister, mister. - Huh?

- You shouldn't have messed with those guys.

They'll be back.

You'd better leave right now.

- Oh thank you, thank you.

- Hey, Wong Chow Ying, go back to the inn and rest now.

- Good.

- Hey mister!

- Hm?

- Your Kung Fu's really good.

You sure know how to fight.

I wonder, could you please teach me?

I'd like to be your pupil.

- Huh?

No way, I couldn't be anyone's teacher.

Don't try to make me laugh.

- Blacksmith boy, you'd better get back to your work.

What makes you think

a crazy kid like you could be his pupil?

Be off with you.

- Oh, really?

And what makes you so sure that he will accept you,

as his mistress?

Go on, ask him. - Oh!

How dare you talk to me in such a rude way.

I'll get your uncle to give you a beating.

- Huh. - Huh!

(water splashing)

- This room is reserved for special guests.

I'm afraid those men will be back to give your trouble.

You'd better live here for a while.

Hey, and my room is just opposite.

- Hm?

What makes you think they'll come back?

- Of course they will.

They never let anyone make them lose face.

Their boss is called Lim Piou.

He never forgets a grudge.

Do you think you can handle him, hm?

- Things like that don't worry me.

It's the good I fear.

- Hey, let me.

(upbeat music)

- I'm afraid of my mother.

- Well, all the people around here

are afraid of what Lim will do to them.

And he's always picking on me.

- Huh?

Well, don't be scared.

I'll take care of him.

- How will you do that?

- We'll have a little chat.

(intense music)

(men grunting)

- Hey, where's the man called Lim Piou?

- Tell him I sent my ways.

(men grunting)

- Why don't you ask them?

- Yeah, what is it?

- Come on.

- Get in there, come on.

That's the way-

(men chattering)

- Oh, come on.

- I got money on you.

- You can join me.

(men chattering)

- Win or lose.

- No way, no way, no way.

(men chattering)

- You must be more careful.

Next time, don't run away, huh?

- Come on.

Go on. - Yes.

- Hey.

That's the one.

- Look at him. - Doing well.

(men chattering)

- Get me some money on that.

There we go, there we go.

- Oh, yeah yeah yeah.

- How dare you come in here

when you haven't even been invited, huh?

- I want to see Lim Piou.

Lim Piou.

- What do you want?

- I want to talk.

- Talk?

Get out!

(hits smacking)

- Hold it.

You're very good.

(hits smacking)

(men grunting)

(intense music)

(intense music)

(men mumbling)

Go on, hurry up.

(hits smacking)

(glass shattering)

(men grunting)

(man whimpering)

- Where's Lim Piou?

(man stammering)

Talk!

(man stammering)

- At the Do Fu.

(intense music)

- $10,000 to win, okay?

- All right, yeah.

- Okay.

He want's $10,000 to win, okay?

- Got ya. - Yeah, right.

- 10,000.

- Hey boss, they want 10,000 to win.

- All right.

- All right. - Okay.

(people chattering)

- Let him go, come on.

Hurry up, let him go.

Go on.

Hey, let him go.

Come on, let's go, let's go, come on, come on, come on.

Last bets in.

Come on, put your bets on, come on.

(people chattering)

(animal growling)

- Come on, rip his head off.

Rip his head off!

(animal growling)

His ear off, rip his ear off!

(animal growling)

(people chattering)

(animal growling)

- Mister, some stranger just came to the gym.

He's a good fighter.

He'd beat us all up.

- Thanks.

Quit now.

- All right, that's all for today.

(people chattering)

- Hey!

Hey, which one is Lim Piou?

- That's him.

(people chattering)

(weapons whooshing)

(hit smacking)

(men grunting)

(hits smacking) (men grunting)

(intense music)

(tense music)

(men grunting)

(men grunting)

- I think we'd better get outta here.

Come on. - Yeah, okay.

- Let's go.

(men grunting)

(men grunting)

(peaceful music)

- Why are you so late?

What's been keeping you?

- How come you're sleeping in my bed?

- I was so lonely, my room seemed empty.

I came to see you.

We can talk for a little while.

(calming music)

Huh?

What's this?

- It's just a letter of introduction.

A friend of the family.

- Wait now, why don't you stay here a bit, all right?

You can have everything here, including me.

You can make a good living and send money home.

- I.

(Chow Ying sighs)

(peaceful music)

(Chow Ying gasps)

Where have my clothes gone?

- What?

Those old smelly rags?

I threw them out.

Now that you're the manager of this place,

you should dress accordingly in smart clothes.

- I don't even recognize myself.

Look at me, but I want to keep the old clothes.

All right?

A reminder of the old days.

- Master Wong, Master Wong!

- Hm?

- Master Wong, Master Wong.

We thank you for getting rid of Lim Piou for us.

Please, accept this on behalf of us all.

A measure of our esteem.

- Hey, what's all this about?

- Now Lim Piou's gone, you're the new boss around here.

They're just paying tribute to you.

Hey.

- Master Wong!

- All of us are poor men and now we have no master.

Accept us as your followers so we can earn a living.

- Yeah, Mister Wong. - Mister Wong, please.

- Ah, all right, all right.

There's plenty of jobs to be done around here.

- Oh thank you. - Thank you, Mister Wong.

(tense music)

(ominous music)

(woman sighing)

- Hey.

Hey, hey, Master's told us not to take money.

- Shut your mouth.

Piss off!

(hits thudding)

- Oh, damn you.

- Yeah!

Come on, come on, you can tell him in person, come on.

- What is it?

- He's been demanding money.

(hit smacking)

- How many times do I have to tell you,

you don't take money from the poor.

(peaceful music)

(people chattering)

Hello, good to see you.

Thanks.

(people chattering)

It's about time I went home.

- Why, are you homesick?

What for, do you still miss your mother?

Hey, why are you wearing your old clothes?

You look much better in your new ones.

- Yeah, but my new clothes would take a bit of explaining.

- Go if you must, but when will you be back?

- Oh, I won't be long.

One or two days.

- And if you're not back by then,

what am I going to do?

- Find yourself another man.

- Don't tease me.

(peaceful music)

Tell your mother what a good girl I am to you.

- Certainly.

I'll tell my mother that you're wild, sexy in bed.

- You wouldn't!

- Well, I'll say how kind and gentle.

- Aw, you mustn't forget to tell her

that I'll be an obedient daughter.

(both laughing)

- I've returned to pay my respects.

- Oh, why'd you keep the money?

- Oh, because I have a job that pays well.

I've no reason to spend any.

- Oh.

Oh, how's Uncle Fook?

- He's,

fine.

(whimsical music)

- Your mother and Chow Ping just left to visit both of you.

Didn't you meet up with them?

- No.

I didn't.

- Oh, well he isn't here.

Hey, Tan Chi!

- Yeah?

- Have you seen a young villager

come around here at any time?

- No, I haven't.

- Chow Ying isn't all that clever.

Knowing him, he went to the wrong place.

Perhaps he had an accident on his way here,

but I hope not.

No, not him.

His Kung Fu is far too good for that.

Even if he was robbed he'd be all right.

- You just stay here with us and wait, okay?

- Sorry to disturb you.

- Don't mention it, don't mention it.

Come in, please, please. - Thank you.

- Hey, Tan Chi,

when you go out, investigate this, remember?

- Okay.

(intense music)

- Huh?

Where's he?

- I've been waiting but there's no sign.

- Eh, eh, what would you like to order?

- Rice wine.

- Ah, yes yes.

Mistress.

- Hm?

- I think we're gonna have some trouble.

There are two men over there.

They look rough and they want Mr Wong.

- Hm, they're out of luck right now.

Mr Wong's gone home to visit his mother.

- Ah.

- They can wait if they want.

- Ah, ah.

- Hey. - Huh?

- Keep an eye on them.

I'm going upstairs.

- Hey, you there! - Hey.

What do you think you're doing?

- I want to talk to the boss of this place.

- Huh, hm, you're talking to her.

What is it you want?

- You mean who I want.

I want that lousy man of yours.

- And, why do you talk like that?

- Listen, he murdered a good friend, Lim Piou.

Just tell us where he is.

- Yeah, you mean Lim Piou.

He's dead, someone killed him?

(table rattling)

- Or I cut ya.

Now talk.

Where's that bastard hiding himself?

Where's he?

- Oh, but he's not a killer.

- Yes he is.

- Really?

He actually killed Lim Piou?

Oh, then he must be pretty good at his Kung Fu,

else he wouldn't dare tackle him.

- Where is he?

- Oh, he's not around here.

- All right, search the place!

- Hold on.

If you do not find him in here,

I'll make you regret this trouble.

- That does it, now close the damn door!

- Yes sir.

- I've had enough of this mistress for one day.

- Ah, you really are a pair of bandits.

- Chow Ying.

Why weren't you here?

There've been some men here,

looking for you.

- Who did this to you?

- Some friends of Lim Piou.

- Get the doctor.

- Yes.

- Don't worry, I'll catch up with them.

- Chow Ying?

Your mother, did you tell,

Seven of- (people chattering)

Oh, all right, all right, I'll trade.

All right, don't rush me.

Cheers!

(people chattering)

Come on, come on, come on.

- Thank you.

(singing in foreign language)

- Master Wong,

we know that you are sad.

You've lost someone very close to you.

You must get it off your chest and talk to your friends.

Let us share your sorrow with you.

- He's right, you know, Mr Wong.

Let us help you.

That is what friends are for, let's talk.

We'll lessen the pain, the drink we'll pass.

You must snap out of it.

It's not good to mope about as you're doing.

You can't bring her back, you know?

She's gone.

You must try again. - That's right.

- Go on.

- Why not go inside?

Take your mind off your sorrow.

Take a young girl.

She'll make you forget. (laughs)

- There are two lovely girls.

Little Cherry and Tender Peach.

They are very expert and very wild! (laughs)

(singing in foreign language)

- Master Wong, the girls are waiting for you.

Come on, you relax and enjoy yourself, come on.

- Come on.

(people chattering)

- Inside.

Hey, no.

Wait. - They won't be long.

Ah, here they are.

Now you relax and enjoy yourself, eh?

Tender Peach, this is Master Wong.

Now you look after him.

Use all your best tricks. (laughs)

- Come on.

(singing in foreign language)

- Come on. (chuckles)

(man stammering) (woman giggling)

- Mr Fook. - Hm?

- We've been a trouble staying here for so long.

Something's happened.

It must be my misfortune.

First of all, I lost my youngest,

and now my eldest has disappeared.

Fate is cruel.

We better go home.

- You say your son was lost, that's reasonable.

Your elder son is a man, he couldn't, unless...

Tan Chi. - Huh?

Pa, please don't scold me in front of these people.

- I told you to look for someone.

Would you find him?

- Uh, ah, I'm sorry.

I'm afraid I forgot about it.

Wait a moment, what was his last name?

Huh?

- It's Wong.

- He's called Mr Wong.

Now hurry along to the inn.

They should know if he's come to town.

- Oh, right.

- He's, not my real son.

I adopted him when he was quite young.

He's always like this, a bit absent minded.

(singing in foreign language)

- Oh, master, please.

- Oh, Mr Wong, I've been looking for you.

Where are you going?

- The inn's being decorated so I'm staying here right now.

- Please.

- Mr Wong!

- Huh?

- This is a brothel, you shouldn't stay here.

- God damn it, how dare you tell me what to do?

- 'Cause you're wrong.

- Get out!

- Ah, master, please.

If you don't like this place, get out.

(man stammering)

- Huh?

- I found the man you're looking for.

- Really?

- But, he's up to no good.

- Well tell me where he is then.

- He's staying at the brothel.

(singing in foreign language)

(woman whimpering) (man chuckling)

- But, not true, Chow Ying would never stay there.

- He used to be such a good boy before he left.

It's not very long, he couldn't have changed that much.

- It's true.

I saw him go in with my own eyes.

Come on.

- Hey, what do you want?

- Where's Master Wong?

- Huh, what do they want?

- She's Master Wong's mother.

- Huh?

Ah, hi.

- Go back to your rooms.

- Which room is Mr Wong?

- All right, take them back.

- Oh, please.

- Huh?

You're here again?

God damn it.

- Look who I brought with me.

(intense music)

- Mom.

- Chow Ping, the boy was quite right.

It really is him. (crying)

- Chow Ying.

- Ma, I...

- Chow Ying, how could you do this to me?

After all that I have taught you.

(mother sobbing)

(dramatic music)

- Mother, please.

- You are no son of mine.

I never want to set eyes on you again.

- Please.

(Mother crying)

(dramatic music)

(women crying)

(man gasping)

(men grunting)

- Why are you bothering me?

(hits smacking)

(glass shattering)

(man whimpering)

- I was wrong about you.

You're no better than the rest of them!

- Why don't you shut up?

- Damn it, you think you're some kind of big shot.

You're not a true champion fighter!

(men grunting)

You're losing your touch.

You've gone soft.

I challenge you.

I can beat you.

You've lost your guts, haven't you?

- What did you say?

- Come on, let's see how good you really are.

We'll fight it out, tomorrow!

(intense music)

- All right.

(metal clanging)

- Ching Ching, please don't go.

- Hey, hey. - Please don't go!

- Hey, where are you going?

Always doing these crazy things.

When exactly did you lose your younger son?

- Oh, 10 years ago.

We lost him in the confusion during the war.

- Ah, tell me, was it in Guangdong Province?

- What's that?

- Wow, what a coincidence.

It was 10 years ago I picked up that lad.

What was his name?

Chow Han!

- That's right!

The older's Chow Ying and the younger's Chow Han.

You're right, it must be him!

- Then that makes them brothers.

They're gonna kill each other!

(intense music)

(wind blowing)

- You really want to fight?

- Fight?

I want to teach you a lesson you'll never forget!

- Ha.

(men grunting)

(wind blowing)

(men grunting)

(man groaning)

(men grunting)

- You're not bad.

(men grunting)

(intense music)

(men grunting)

- Avoid the sins of the flesh.

Avoid the sins of the flesh.

Avoid the sins of the flesh.

(men grunting)

Avoid the sins of the flesh.

Avoid the sins of the flesh!

Avoid the sins of the flesh!

(man yelling)

(men grunting)

- Go on, stop the fighting!

- Chow Ying!

No, that boy is your brother!

(men grunting) (hits smacking)

- No, Chen Chi, he's your brother!

- The bad never win, the bad never win, the bad never win.

(intense music)

- Chow Ying, he is your brother, Chow Han!

- Ah?

What?

- Chow Ying, Chow Ying.

Chow Ying, what happened to make you change so?

- Chen Chi, this woman's your real mother!

Here, come on.

(lively music)

- Ma!

Brother!

- If it's true, then you're Chow Han.

Have you been hurt badly?

- It's all right.

(dramatic music)

I use this to protect myself.

It worked, damn it.

Brother!

- You've done right.

You've punished a bad man.

A man who'd fallen.

- Oh no!

(family crying)

- Kung Fu has no special method.

It needs truth.

Only the good win in the end.

The moral way is the correct way to fight.

The bad never win, that's why I...

(Chow Ying gasps)

- Brother!

(family crying)

- Chow Ping, I've done wrong.

Take, take care, take good care of my mother.

(family crying)

- Oh, Chow Ying, Chow Ying!

- Chow Ying.

(dramatic music)
