to fill children's
stockings with presents,

sweets if they've been good,

Well, maybe in fairy tales perhaps,

but in reality it's a nightmare.

First of all, being old stinks.

sorting all the presents
is a massive burden.

There is choosing the ribbons,

wrapping, making the bows,

and reading millions of letters.

I have to organize every little detail

for the special night.

I also must keep myself fit,

otherwise I won't be able
to carry all the presents,

and of course, dieting.

Or I won't fit down the chimneys,

and my poor broomstick
won't get off the ground.

Then, there's putting up with him.

Why is it we've been doing
the same job for centuries,

and yet for some strange reason,

he gets to travel on a big comfy sled,

pulled by fancy reindeers,

while I'm on an old broomstick?

He has a fabulous outfit,
while I'm just in rags.
