Steed.

Hello Freddy.

Sorry with you. A good guess for an old friend.

Good evening.

Said again, pick of you Steed, has always been good.

- Didn't mind if I said hello, did you? - Not at all.

I do not feel bad, I hope.

I couldn't just walk by without say hello, could I?

Nice to meet you.

Freddy?

Are you all right?

I'm fine, fine.

- Well, how things? - Oh, fine. You?

The department's through managing to function without me?

Just about.

If any there to give me a second chance,

... perhaps if you could put a word in for me?

Of course I know.

It's be unfair to ask. It's been a long time. Far too long.

You're keeping that delicious young lady waiting.

- Freddy can we drop you somewhere? - No, no. Thank you.

Look. Let me ...

- Are you sure? - He's definitely here, sir.

He is in there. I saw him.

You, by the staris. You, by the door.

He is in there, sir. - If possible, I want him alive.

He is in here, sir.

I told you, sir. I told you, I saw him.

- Tayman, your hand. Your hand! - It's all right, sir.

He only nipped it, sir. It didn't even draw blood.

I'm sorry, Tayman.

Oh, no, sir. No sir, please.

Professor Turner, sir. Please, Professor Turner.

It was the kindest way.

As far as he goes. Line did dead.

- Any contact? - We have not contacted him since.

Fat man man driving 1137 HR.

- Heathrow Airport. - Wednesday. - Which is today.

To negotiate purchase of Midas. Get a comment on Midas?

There's nothing code named Midas in of us.

It's important whatever it is.

Negotiate purchase. They're sending somebody all this way to negotiate.

11:37 now arriving is from Paris ...

... Milan and Peking.

And he had to go look for fat man.

And something altogether thinner in mind.

Midas. A legendary king. - And everything he touched ...

... must turned to gold.

I had overlooked his share of velocity.

He gnawed the wood of his cage and escaped us.

That could have been a bad mistake.

Yes, Mr. Vann, but we have him back.

For runner of an illustrious line.

The Midas prototype so to speak.

Why .. Midas?

Have I not discovered the way to turn the dros into gold?

And as you see Mr. Vann. Gold is important to me.

There are those who prefer platinum or silver.

Cold and characterless.

No, Mr. Vann.

Give me gold.

Lots of gold.

Makes you feel so sunny, don't you think?

- When do I meet Midas? - As you know Mr. Vann, Midas ...

... of the secret of Midas will get the highest bidder.

You are not the only potential buyer.

Quite soon you will have a rival to compete against.

If he turns of.

Purdey?

The last passenger went through ages ago.

Steed, he isn't going to turn up.

He's a pro. For two ways getting off a plane.

Merge of the crowd or lag behind.

To make the uninitiated think you haven't turned out.

That's Hong Kong Harry.

I hardly recognized him. So much weight.

Midas.

- Follow that yellow car. - Yello car? - Right.

One fourty five. You see? He isn't go to turn up.

The fat man whoever he is.

He isn't going to keep his appointment.

I should have made things more clear.

I gave them only bad details about Midas ...

... about his secret powers. Perhaps ...

Perhaps, I should have been more specific.

Let us talk about gold, Professor.

I understand your obsession.

Let me a thought of this ... this yellow metal.

- Accelerate the pulse. - Yes.

To touch .. to feel .. to own some feminine paintings or women.

The emotion is the same.

Yes, yes.

It squeezed the throat. Blurs the view. It is.

- Walhalla! - Yes, yes.

I feel the same about power. Absolute power.

We can do business.

Here is my order.

One third ...

... of the entire collection shall be yours.

Until see my guest.

- Go dust? - Yes, just like in that old Bogart movie.

You know the one which Walter Huston directed.

What? Treasuers of the ...

... Sierra Madre? - Yes.

Walter Huston didn't direct that.

It was his son. John Huston.

You know something?

This bird certainly can drive.

You know something? I think you're right.

Of course, I am.

See the way he handles a corner.

No, no. I mean about John Huston.

He did directed.

Walter whose to played one of the leads.

I apologize the inconvenience, Mr. Vann.

But I'm sure you realize the necessity.

If Midas is all you claim. - Oh, he is.

I promise you, he is.

Left. - Right. - Left.

- Right. - Left!

Purdey. We wanted him alive.

Difficult decision.

Him or you.

Gambit?

Gambit, what's the matter?

What do you mean what's the matter?

It wasn't a difficult choice, was it really?

- How we get out of here? - No idea.

You barely scratched Harry. These acted like sandbags.

It such isn't sand.

- I'm just a courier, that's all - Courier of half a million in gold.

Head couriers.

But that's all I know. Steed, I promise. I ...

I swear to you on my mother's grave.

Harry, you couldn't even find your mother's grave.

You sold it for development years ago.

Hong Kong small place.

Lands are premium there.

And my mother big lady. She fully extended ...

... two blocks long.

Midas.

Does it mean, Harry? Midas.

I don't know, Steed.

I promise you. All I do know is ...

... it's worth three quarters about million in gold.

Well, Mr. Vann you are convinced a trust.

Perhaps.

I've seen, but that's true?

And I've heard your theories.

But practical terms.

I need something more concrete, Professor.

I rather thought you might.

Your competitors, Mr. Vann.

The men who did not turn up.

They were as skeptical as you.

And demanded a demonstration.

I had arranged one.

You might as well attendance that.

The man who shot our fat.

Thin friend. I found that on him.

What happened to him?

He sort of fell from me.

From a great height. Just.

Well, do you prefer? - Second one.

Must be better than one.

Now is a time for all good men.

To come to the junket party.

Two minutes should be enough.

The purpose of this demonstration I arranged the things to be speeded up.

Why not see yourself?

Are you satisfied?

Good .. Good. I thought you would be.

Will you leave it like that?

- Evident. - Midas has his instructions.

Timed device. Ah, here is, now.

- Have you set the device? - At the foot of the stairs.

Any second now and fire will obliterate any evidence.

Your little demonstration was ...

... impressively. Fantastic, astonishing.

Scientific endeavor.

An advanced in medicine. Nothing more.

Incredible.

This verses unblemished. Is it safe to ...

... to touch?

Incredible.

But why would he alive?

Why?

I trust to professor.

All right, Midas.

Dross .. into gold.

When I first encountered Midas, he was ...

... inevitably doomed.

But now well, his future is golden.

The exchange, I'd say.

You touched him with your .. left hand, I think.

Now, Mr. Vann. Let's gonna talk about gold.

We are indebted to you, Mr. Steed.

Not at all.

And unfortunately fair handles most fortunately.

And you have looked after our Mr. Harry most excellently.

Rather soft spot hung on Harry. I suppose, because he's more ...

... scrutiny than most.

We will be due goodbye then.

And .. there is a small matter?

Mr. Harry's .. merchandise?

Oh, yes.

Thank you again, Mr. Steed.

May you have the blessing with many sons.

The fact that I'm not married. Many sons ...

... might prove rather an embarrassment.

Of course, if you were prepared to become ...

... personally involved in the event.

Steed, you're becoming a rue.

An optimist.

Alo?

I have something to informing you, boy.

Who is this?

It's Freddy.

Remember? Freddy the deadbeat. who was knocked out.

Telling you'd better stop brushing that red carpet.

Freddy, are you ... Are some kind of bender?

Am I an bender?

Steed, this is a mine bender. You would believe it.

Look, Freddy, it's late. I'm just about to go to bed.

The Midas Touch. - What?

Yeah. I grab you, boy.

What do you know about Midas?

I saw a face from Pilton Down. Followed it up, discovered gold.

Freddy, this is important.

Are you telling me?

Where are you now?

I'd better get off the phone. I'll meet you dawn.

Same place. Just like same times.

What happened?

An intruder, a burglar. I don't know.

Don't worry. He hit me.

A brief touch, but he did hit me ...

... with his bare fist.

- Who is Freddy, anyway? - Who was Freddy?

More than point. Very good man once.

Once?

His nerve broke. So he tried to pop it up with booze.

And then the man broke.

There he is.

Freddy!

Freddy, what are you doing up there?

We want to know about Midas.

You didn't touch any other?s

No, I walked through them and pulled up a face mask.

But you didn't come into contact with bare flesh. - No.

- Nurse. - Well, now wait a minute.

Just to be on the safe side.

- No one know it doesn't. - No one doesn't.

- What happened here? - Oh, dear. I thought you might tell me.

A lot of people ended up dead.

Doctor. What did they die on?

First we will test to understand this. But so far ...

... it appears these people died of .. typhus,

... typhoid, malaria, pneumonia, smallpox,

... blackwater fever and berry-berry.

Yes, Mr.Gambit. They died of everything.

Yes.

As you know Midas. We are selling your ...

Our services to Mr. Vann and quite rightly.

His demanded you practice what he wants of you.

You rehearsal if you like.

A dress rehearsal.

Your most royal highness.

Now. On the day, General, I will then ...

... escort the princess towards the door.

Away from the honored guests like so.

And then my men will escort it to the car. - Right.

Do you want to go through that again?

No, once is enough. And we are ready for anything.

We've rigged the device on every door.

A gun, a knife, anything metallic.

With the registers.

So unless an assassin plans to use his bare hands.

Assassin? Hmm, My dear general,

... you see assassins everywhere.

- There has been one attempt. - Bungled and slipshod.

And what happened, it would be a assassin, hmm?

Turn to pieces by a devoted populate?

Our most royal highness ...

... is the last of the line. - I am aware of that.

I am equally aware that any anti-monarchist movement ...

... that took her life

... would be rejected by our people out of sheer sentiment.

Our greatest enemy ... is probably the common cold.

If the princess died,

unnatural death then and only then ...

... would an anti-monarchist group stand any chance at all?

With his bare hands.

- Died of everything? - Everything ...

... contaiging run riot.

That explains why Freddy did what he did.

- Who is Freddy? - A man who never quite forgot ...

... what he once had been.

No, that's not a riddle.

An epitaph.

He said one significant thing.

A face remembered from Pilton Down.

- Pilton Down was close six year ago. - Seven.

I'm sad about that germ warfare.

Though it never seems quite suppoting.

Which face did he remember?

I'm hoping that Purdey will find out.

Pilton Down.. had administrated over hundred.

They gone separate way now.

- But you security officer there. - Yeah.

- You must have known them all. - Naturally.

Not like that, man.

Look, wait here, are you?

I have to put these fellas where they should be.

Shan't be long.

That's it, Max.

Pilton Down was a good structuring. There were bad ones among them?

Of course not. But everyone had security clearance.

Watch it!

This is not a place for you, Miss... Mrs... - Just Purdey.

Purdey.

Where did you prefer me, in the kitchen, tending the nursery, in bed?

They work with safe here, of course.

What?

In what way?

Cracky. Obsesed to their work.

Carefull, boy!

This is the dangerous one. I'll see in a moment.

How this whole system works?

Scientific.

All it sets with something.

Wine, food, promotion.

Office, more equipment, gold.

- Gold? - He was an extreme case.

For some said, he used to go chasing, after rainbows ...

... to find a crock of gold.

- Goldomania we called him. - Gold who?

Professor Turner. Strictly in to the cash.

Cash he turned immediately into gold Crazy stuff.

- Steed? - Purdey, any news?

I think, Professor Turner is our man.

I know what he looks like, but that's about all.

It hasn't been any trace of him since he left Pilton Down.

Where're you now, what you doing?

Vibrating.

Having a hunch.

Getting myself a lucky break, I hope.

What?

Here, all is have a yen for gold. Point of obsession.

What's that going to do with it?

Just look at the advertisement on page two of The Times.

Page two The Times.

Purdey. Purdey!

No, no, no. The red carpet must be extend from here ...

... to the front of gold. - Of Course. I attend that prime minister.

And I know the photographers require lights.

But they must remain unobtrusive.

They must ... Excuse me.

You fool. Come here.

I had to see. A third of this. A third of all this should be mine.

- That is still a bug. - Yes, yes.

Now, please go.

Professor.

- She is not here. - But her car is.

Goldomania.

Ah, you have been checking up on me.

A name acquint for me Pilton Down.

Acquaint by idiots ...

... who did not know the sheer sensual pleasure of ...gold.

Pure gold.

You are very beautiful. Yet in my eyes quite worthless ...

... in comparison to her.

I bet she can't cook an omelette.

French style ..with herbs.

A tiny sliver of her would buy me a hundred omelettes.

But then the pleasures of the flesh have never had great attraction for me.

What do we do with her?

Oh, yes what indeed.

No. No unnecessary violance.

We shall be gone from here in a few hours.

You back to your own country in triumph and me to the foothills of South America.

They'll say that is gold there.

It didn't do Humphrey Bogart much good.

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

Most people think Walter Huston directed it.

It was John.

I saw her when you brought her in.

She is beautiful.

And I'm lonely.

Professor, you promised me.

One day.

Very well.

After your mission is accomplished.

Problem solved.

We'll give her to Midas.

His kisses will be passionate and tender.

Indeed, your relationship will be meaningful.

Very brief.

- Mr. Gambit. - Where is Hong Kong Harry?

Mr. Harry has departed to new horizon.

You owe us a favor.

It is true. I do have a small duty to your Mr. Steed, but ...

Harry was sent here to barter with a Professor Turner.

We know that now.

But what we don't know where Turner is.

But you do.

Mr. Gambit, it is very late.

Very.. very damn late.

Turner's grab Purdey and we want her back.

If you would care to put your request with a proper ...

... I'm sure .. - There isn't time for that.

Good night, Mr. Gambit.

I'm sorry.

I would prefer you to leave of your own volition.

I must warn you, Mr. Gambit.

Troy here is our physical education attache.

A top class bodyguard.

Great A.

Great B.

Telling the stay where he is.

Unless you want to blow up into an international incident.

Have you any idea what Midas is?

What you were bidding for?

Do you know what Turner was working on Pilton Down?

The ultimate in carriers.

Look, a healthy rat can carry plague and remain immune.

Common housefly can carry a dozen deadly diseases, but remain unaffected.

Take that to the ultimate. A man. A human being ...

... scientifically infected with every deadly disease in the book,

but not infected himself. No signs even.

Every symptom hidden, kept obey by drugs.

A man who could walk into this room.

Take your hand.

And kill you just as surely as if he put a bullet into you.

Midas.

Now.. Are you gonna help us to find Purdey?

Somewhere around here.

- That's all she knew. - Well.

We must have it. If I'm to get him in before the others arrive.

Keep an eye on the girl.

It'll be a pleasure.

Don't touch her.

She's mine.

Professor, you promised.

He has his orders.

I can't touch.

But they didn't say anything about looking.

I've seen ugly faces before.

It's crazy ...

... wasting you.. on Midas.

I'm still not touching.

You did touch, who tell them?

Certainly not me.

Are you serious?

You'll never find out until you try.

Are you okay?

You'll be happy to hear I'm free from infection?

That is nice to that.

Gambit, we wanted him awake.

Never mind. It was good practice.

Oh, glitters is gold.

- Where are they? - I don't know.

He might have been able to tell us, but ...

... Gambit hit him with one of his haymakers.

He might have been able to explain the hand kissing. - Hand kissing?

Yes, you know ...

They were practicing it to infection.

- They were rehearsing. - Rehearsing for what?

What do you do when you meet a princess?

Well, I made so many.

You might kiss her hand.

My most royal highness ...

... will receive the bouquet here then move into the body of the hall.

Yes. And then I shall be presented.

Oh, be quite sure to get a clear big picture. - Yes.

Those chosen to be presented will ...

... line up along there.

And you will not speak to her most royal highness unless ...

... until she addresses you.

Naturally, won't say anything.

I do so love Royalness. There are so few real monarchs left.

Indeed.

And yet, I understand that even in your country ...

... there is a movement to overthrow the monarchy.

Rumors. Just rumors.

Oh, really?

I thought that head actually already been ...

... one assassination attempt.

This is hardly the conversation for such an occasion.

Oh, yes, of course.

Definitely not.

Shortcut.

For perdition?

Your most royal highness.

Now.. if royal highness would graciously consent to meet someone ...

- You should take on motor racing. - I did.

Le Mans.

Spa.

Monza.

Daytona.

I crashed at them all.

- Sir Anthony Benson. - Your highness.

Lord Robert.

And of course ... Lord Elliston.

- Your highness. - You may remember that ...

... Lord Elliston visited our country recently.

A Rear Admiral Finiston.

Your Honour.

The.. curator.

It really is the most marvelous honor your most royal highness.

Marvelous. Something I shall treasure all my life.

May I present.. Lord Midas?

No!

This isn't a something to talk about back at the palace.

Don't wait him to touch you Do whatever you do.

If you're thinking about giving a reward your highness,

... is it possibly to make it three?
