(phone rings)
Hey, Dad. Uh, now's not a good time.
I know, I've been really busy.
I...
(coughs)
No, I... it's... I'm fine. It's just allergies.
I...
Oh... I haven't seen it, I...
Yeah, I like Tom Hanks.
Everybody does.
Hey, Dad, I can't...
I-I'd love to see you, but I just...
Things are really crazy right now,
and I can't, I just...
Look, Dad...
Dad, I have to go.
I love you.
(grunts)
* *
* *
(exhales) Well, that was exhausting.
(chuckles) I ran six miles.
You bailed after two.
"Bailed" sounds like "quit."
I didn't quit, I changed course.
Yeah, well, that course was supposed to end
with you getting us bagels.
And they were out of bagels, so I changed course again
and I got us smoothies.
You hate smoothies.
That must have been very hard for you.
Like I said, it was exhausting.
Oh, you're funny. And, uh,
if you ever deny me my morning bagel again,
I'll make sure everyone knows how funny you are.
I do have a reputation to uphold.
And I have an interview to get to, ooh.
I'm still exploring my options.
Oh, I think that's good.
I mean, you got the time.
I do, but we have other important decisions
to start making. Like picking a wedding date.
Have you given any more thought to early summer?
June gloom. Sounds a little risky.
Then New Year's. Two parties in one.
That may actually kill Arkady.
And then, of course, you'd have to list that
as his official cause of death.
April?
Showers. Not to mention taxes.
Callen, if you want to bail...
"Bail" sounds a lot like "quit."
All right, then if you want to change course...
I don't want to do either.
But I also don't want you to be late for your interview.
Can we talk about this later?
Sure.
But there better be bagels.
There will be bagels.
KENSI: Let's go!
We're gonna be late.
I can't find my backpack.
Mm. It's right here.
Oh... Wow!
Just saw my life flash before my eyes.
That's a little dramatic. Well, I'd argue
it was more of a dark comedy
with pivotal moments of tenderness.
Regardless, I was over too soon.
Speaking of soon,
I'm gonna miss History if we don't leave, like, now.
Great, yeah. No, of course.
And you-you have your essay
on the-the tragedy that is the Great Depression?
Yes, but I argued it was more of a dark comedy
with pivotal moments of tenderness.
Wow. Now, that is a touchรฉ. Well played.
Kensi!
Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
Hey, by the way, (door opens)
(phone vibrates) we definitely don't have time
to pick up your truck in the morning,
but we can do it after work. Oh, my God.
Yeah, if we survive that long. Hello?
Oh. ROBERTA: Hello?
I come back from six months on the road
and that's how you answer the phone?
It's kind of a universally accepted phone greeting.
But, okay... Wait a minute, back from what?
ROBERTA: A woman can only eat, pray,
and love her way across the lower 48
for so long. (laughing)
But boy, did I love.
T... TMI, Mom. It was like Woodstock,
all over again, only this time with sciatica.
DEEKS: Mom,
boundaries! Okay.
Uh, I'm really glad that you're back.
Uh, we're really glad. Super, super glad.
But just to clarify, when you say "back..."
In L.A.
Interesting because, uh,
you rented out your apartment
two days after you saw Nomadland.
Which is why I'm on my way to your house.
I'll be there in 30. And someone better be there to let me in,
(horn honks) because I haven't eaten or prayed since Reno.
Mwah, I love you. I can't wait.
Okay. You know what? We'll figure it out on the way. Yep.
Nope, yep. That's fine. It's gonna be fine.
She's loving her way through Reno.
That's what you want to hear with your mom.
(thudding) (grunting)
ROUNTREE: "Ready your breakfast and eat hearty,
for tonight we dine in hell!"
(grunting) Rountree,
what are you doing?
If you're gonna work in this office,
you're gonna have to brush up on your classic movie quotes.
It's from 300.
But what I meant is
what are you doing to that bucket?
It's called hojo undo.
Ancient martial arts techniques that are meant to build
grip and forearm strength. I have
a troll-shaped stress doll
that also works great for that.
(phone vibrating)
Can you do me a favor? That might be a case.
Uh, it's a text from someone named Packer who says,
"My pants are fire"? (laughing)
I'm afraid to ask.
Yeah, it's my homie, Daniel Packer.
We were at Quantico together.
He's, uh, making a clothing line,
so I figured I might invest
some of that money that Beale left us.
Oh, I heard about that money.
I think that I would spend that all
on first class tickets to Tokyo.
Yeah. I thought about that.
But after what happened to me and my sister,
just... didn't feel right.
Nothing feels right after that.
You know...
I want that money to grow something.
So I called a few friends
and asked 'em to pitch me some ideas.
You didn't think about asking me?
Ha! The world does not need
any more troll-shaped stress dolls.
Oof, that's harsh. So is this.
Oh!
(exhales)
Now, that was fire.
Well, a cruise doesn't just appear out of nowhere.
I mean, you're not David Copperfield.
Why would I need a sign off
when I am the sign off?
Well, thank you for the seven hours notice.
Oh, and thank you so much for continuing to be
an overly-coddled thorn in my ass.
(both sigh)
My father's caretaker just quit.
Third one this month. Mm.
You?
There is yet another process in place
for expense approvals.
I had a system in place for my dad.
But the system only works
if I can get people to play by the rules.
(chortles) Good luck with that one.
Speaking of which,
where is everyone?
Well, I mean, you seem to have it covered on your own.
(sighs) Who's this?
Uh, Lieutenant Jeff Morgan.
Found stabbed to death this morning by a house cleaner.
He was an intelligence officer assigned to
a DoD task force
based out of Naval Munitions Command CONUS West.
They deal primarily with naval weapons inventory. Yeah.
I wish it stopped at the Navy.
Morgan was part of a highly-classified operation
developing software
aimed at networking the entire U.S. military.
Similar to Project Overmatch, only bigger.
Well, if an enemy can access that software,
they could expose top secret intel across every branch.
Which is why SECNAV wants us to make sure
that nothing has been compromised.
Got any suspects?
China. Russia. Iran.
Or his wife,
Alice Morgan.
One of those things is not like the others.
A neighbor saw her fleeing the scene
shortly after Morgan's estimated TOD.
There's an APB out for her.
So, either she is being targeted too...
Or Alice Morgan isn't playing by the rules.
Sushi.
You wanted Sugarfish, which I selflessly agreed,
to which you replied, and I quote, "I owe you one."
Okay, I meant unpack the groceries,
not spend the entire day unpacking
your mother's weird obsession with Michael Bublรฉ. Okay,
he is a good-natured crooner who refuses to look bad in a tux.
What's to unpack?
Sweetheart, she's your mother. I know that.
Uh, hey! Ooh, Callen.
I'm an orphan. Can't help you.
That's good. You're very funny.
Has anyone ever told you that?
(chuckles) (chuckles) You know, if I knew
you guys were throwing a party, I would've brought bagels.
Well, you got to get up pretty early
to beat the crowd for that. I was up at 5:00,
in the office at 8:00 working on a case.
You guys remember cases, right? Case?
I got Kilbride's text. Were you able to get ahold
of Morgan's commanding officer? I'm on my way to the boatshed
to meet with him now.
Then I think I'm going with you. Great.
Perfect. All right.
Rountree's gonna hit the crime scene.
You two should meet him there, huh?
Got it. Wa... Can... So...
Oh, my gosh.
Okay, fine. I will spend the day with Mama D.
Kilbride wants me to take some accrued leave anyway.
Are you sure? Yes.
We'll have fun. I'll pick up Rosa early.
They can meet for the first time
and then I can have reinforcements.
I owe you one.
Ha! It's funny that you think you owe me just one.
(honks horn) Oh, God. I got it.
I'm going, I'm going. (engine revving)
ROUNTREE: All right, thanks, guys.
LAPD found a personal laptop, but it's locked.
Shyla's gonna get a warrant to access it.
You find anything interesting? Yeah.
That Achievable Design is only achievable
for those people with disposable income
and a questionable definition of design.
Uh, speaking of money, coroner found a Rolex on Morgan's wrist,
and his Lexus is still parked in the garage.
Well, I think we can rule out home invasion.
Yeah, but I didn't think junior officers made Rolex money.
They don't. And they also don't make enough money
to cover these credit cards bills.
Well, their neighbors said Alice Morgan didn't work a job,
so if she grew accustomed to the finer things,
they would've had to have a extra way of paying for it.
Yeah, well, maybe they were
selling classified military software.
Well, if we had a way of tracking her down,
we could ask her.
Maybe we do. Looks like the Morgans
have been living in the fast lane.
Uh, yeah.
Fancy watches, expensive cars.
Were you not present for this whole conversation? (chuckles)
The literal fast lane.
This credit card bill has electronic toll charges
all over it.
Well, if Alice Morgan's trying to get out of Dodge,
toll roads would be the fastest way.
That's what I'm saying.
That's what I'm saying. Good.
Commander Burns.
Thank you for coming in to speak with us.
It's not like I was given the choice.
You gentleman are aware of cell phones, correct?
And you are aware that one of your men
was murdered last night, correct?
It's a tragedy. Truly.
But now, instead of being in my office
dealing with the fallout,
I've been summoned to a Bubba Gump's
to talk to you two.
So... start talking.
You first.
What kind of software is your team was developing?
It's a cloud-like technology
that allows us to share data
across all the armed forces.
Everything from emails to weapons, ordnance
and explosives tracking to real-time target tracing.
And how does Lieutenant Morgan fit into this?
He primarily oversaw data analytics
until about a month ago, when I put him on the road.
I had him visiting local contractors and manufacturers
to confirm their systems were up to date
and fully operational.
Did he have any enemies?
Not that I know of. He seemed like a good kid.
But with hundreds of command members,
I don't have the time to delve in everyone's personal life.
So, I take it you never met his wife?
Once, maybe.
Quiet. (scoffs)
Not very friendly, if I remember correctly.
To be clear, she was unfriendly?
I really have to get back.
If you have any more questions,
please don't hesitate to contact my office.
Uh, you know, by phone. Mm.
So, a month after Morgan is transferred he winds up dead.
Yeah, we should pull his travel vouchers. (door opens)
(door closes) Find out what else he might have been up to
while he was out there on the road.
I'll reach out to his office. You know, by phone.
(chuckles)
KILBRIDE: What have we got, Agent Dahr?
A giant headache, sir.
Welcome to the last 40 years of my life.
I would recommend an aspirin, but
I have always found that a good single malt scotch
is a lot quicker.
I didn't mean a literal headache.
I meant it figuratively.
I didn't know we were putting nuance in our sitreps now.
And I didn't know how frustrating
the sharing economy can be.
Businesses that rely on community-based marketplaces.
I assume this will all relate back
to my original question, "what do we got?"
I got a warrant to access
the laptop LAPD found in Morgan's home.
Most accounts were logged out,
but luckily, it was still synced up
to Alice Morgan's text messages, which is where
I found this very vague confirmation code.
I traced the number the text came from
to a company called Home Connections.
They specialize in discreet vacation rentals.
So discreet that I'm still waiting on
the manager to give me access to her account.
Mm. Should be any minute now.
Better let me talk to them.
I will make sure that there is no nuance
in what I have to say. (beep)
Oh, may not be necessary. I'm in.
Hey, looks like Alice Morgan used a gift credit card
and a fake name to book a house in Larchmont
an hour after her husband's death.
Get this address to Rountree and Deeks.
I want her picked up now.
Wow. Man, the owners were smart
to invest in this place.
Great walk score, mountain views.
All right, Warren Buffett,
why all the investment talk today?
I just want to do better with my money, you know?
I want it to actually help people,
like... Alice Morgan.
No, not Alice Morgan.
She's clearly spending enough.
Are you okay today? No, no. Alice Morgan.
Oh. Alice Morgan.
Oh, don't...
(groans)
I should have stretched.
(grunts)
Ow.
Federal agents. Stop.
Hands up. Step down.
Come towards me.
I have a gun in my waistband.
Go.
Wow.
You good?
Yeah.
I just got to invest in a chiropractor.
All right, there's a couple ways this can go.
Which is really exciting for me,
because I've always loved a good Choose Your Own Adventure.
You know what I'm saying? Cave of Time?
House of Danger?
Lost Jewels of Nabooti?
Yeah? No? What about you?
Really? It's a book series
where you get to choose how your story unfolds.
ROUNTREE: Look, we have you fleeing
the scene of your husband's murder.
You're our prime suspect. But if you cooperate,
you too can choose how your story unfolds.
I'm not telling you anything.
Look, we can sit here all day, all right?
But being silent only hurts you.
We're here to help.
You want to help me now?
Where were you six months ago?
Why, what happened six months ago?
I talked and I talked and I talked,
and no one seemed to listen then,
so I'm not saying anything now. Mrs. Morgan,
we're only trying to help.
Um, actually, we should take a...
We can... we should take a break.
Do you want a... I want to get a coffee.
Me? Do you want a coffee? I bet she
needs some coffee. You want some coffee?
I don't need a coffee.
Yeah, well, the people of Nabooti
didn't think they needed, uh, Lucy and Peter's help,
but at the end of the day, they were glad to have it.
I'll grab you a coffee.
(door opens)
Everything all right with your dad?
Yeah, if I can find someone to stay with him tomorrow.
What happened to Cheryl? She was great.
And very into birds, by the way.
Yeah, apparently, they fell on the different sides
of the war pigeon debate. (chuckles)
She quit last week. I got to find a new agency.
Well, that's one approach. What's that supposed to mean?
Look, the last caretaker quit
because your Dad wouldn't ride in his Mazda.
He prefers American cars.
I'm just saying. Maybe it's not the caretakers.
Maybe you're avoiding the real issue here.
You want to talk to me about avoidance?
Well, I didn't say I wanted to talk to you about it.
Did you pick your wedding date yet?
Oh, you think I'm avoiding my wedding?
I think you're keeping Anna in the dark
about what's going on,
and whatever it is, she'll understand.
But you have to give her a chance.
Don't even think about sitting.
Just heard from Rountree.
Alice Morgan still isn't talking.
Did Commander Burns' office
send over Morgan's travel vouchers?
Yep. Uh, at first, nothing stood out.
Then I remembered that in addition to his wife's
electronic toll pass records, I had his too.
So I cross-referenced them with his travel vouchers
and it turns out something is definitely rotten
in the state of Denmark. Lovely.
Now we're doing Shakespeare in the park.
Lieutenant Morgan took the same freeway to and from the office
at about the same time every day.
That all changed a month ago. Yeah, well, that tracks.
That's when he started traveling for work.
Which took him everywhere
from PennCo Metrics to Marview Chemicals
to Parnell Industries.
All of which manufacture high-powered,
military-grade explosives.
SHYLA: Exactly, and after each trip
to those specific manufacturers, his toll pass pinged a responder
near the Santa Anita Avenue exit off the 10.
The Morgans live out in Jefferson Park.
That's over 20 miles past their house.
Which is why I inputted his most recent trip into Kaleidoscope.
Traffic cams caught him pulling into a storage facility
in El Monte on Friday.
Friday? So, two days before he was murdered.
So whatever he's keeping there
may help explain what got him killed.
"Though this be madness,
yet there is method in't."
(phone vibrates) SAM: Damn it.
My father's caretaker agency, they need to speak with me
before they can find a replacement.
Uh, take the call, Agent Hanna.
Ms. Dahr can use the fresh air.
Thanks for that.
Actually, you mind if I go into it alone?
Uh, yeah, sure. All right, thanks, man.
Yeah.
So it's, uh... June 30, 1990.
And my mom decides she wants to take me
to watch the Dodgers play the Cardinals.
And I will never forget that day.
I don't care about sports.
That's funny, 'cause I don't care about sports either.
No, the reason I remember it is 'cause it was so hot.
Like, L.A. had been coming off this massive heat wave
and I can still see the ice cream cone melting
as it's being passed down the row.
Now you want to talk about weather?
Actually, I do, because...
that is the other thing that I can still see
from that day, is my mom.
And she's sitting next to me in this 90-degree heat,
except for the fact that she is wearing...
(chuckles softly)
She's wearing jeans and a long-sleeve turtleneck.
And she was covered up like that the whole entire summer.
(sniffles) Not that it matters,
because she couldn't cover the bruises on her face.
Did he spare you, at least?
No.
I mean, but I was a kid, right?
Kids are supposed to have bruises.
(sniffles)
I'd just tell the teachers that, um...
...I got another fight in the playground.
What do you tell people?
I don't have anyone left to tell.
He made me push everyone away.
Yeah, they do that.
How long has your husband been abusing you?
Physically?
Three years.
Mentally? Who knows.
He even cut off my access to our bank account.
He controlled every part of my life.
And you reported him six months ago?
I called some military hotline,
and when I didn't hear back
I filed a report with the family advocacy center.
They said they were looking into it.
I got to ask you this 'cause it's my job,
but I don't blame you if you did.
Did you kill your husband?
No. Okay.
He was like that when I came home.
Can you believe,
after all this,
I even tried to save him?
I can.
So, why did you run?
Because...
...my husband was worth a lot to the military.
I'm not.
They're gonna want someone to pay for this,
and I was afraid that my reports
would be used as motive.
That tracks.
So, your husband has been traveling a lot for work.
Have you noticed any differences,
any changes in him since then?
Sorry, can I have a few minutes? Yeah, of course.
You can have as much time as you want.
Motor oil.
Sorry, what?
When he h...
When he came close to me after those trips,
his hands smelled like motor oil.
I'm sorry.
ROBERTA: One minute, I'm signing up
for a polar bear plunge, next thing I know
I'm 20 miles off the strip, skinny dipping at a Ramada Inn
with a broken pool heater. (chuckles)
(giggles) That's one version of an ice breaker.
Yeah, that sounds like a very fun trip.
Adele is doing a residency in Vegas right now. Ooh.
I'd love to go. I didn't know that.
Listen, if you want to go see Adele,
I don't think Deeks would mind taking a trip.
Uh, actually, Tay's family has a condo there
and they said I could go
if that's okay. Yes.
Of course, yeah.
Tay... (chuckles)
I don't-I don't think we've spoken about her.
My friend from Calculus.
Oh, Calculus. Now, that's a waste of time.
Oh, that's definitely not...
I have had a disastrous marriage,
three dead-end jobs, and
a little quick brush with a pyramid scheme. And not
one of those problems
was solved by the Pythagorean theorem.
That's actually geometry...
You are very cool.
Right back at you, sis.
I'll bet you're gonna
keep these two on their toes.
(chuckles)
ROSA: Speaking of which,
Uh, Kensi, do you think you could take me and Tay
to the mall after school? Mm-hmm.
Uh, we were gonna get new cleats for soccer practice.
Soccer practice.
You definitely told me about that.
Well, I'm pretty sure
I didn't tell you about the sound bath I took
behind the Dairy Queen in Marfa.
So, ladies, buckle up.
And you're sure this was the guy
that rented the storage unit from you?
Positive. Dude was intense. Like you two, but different.
What do you mean by that?
I mean I would not want to be on the other side
of a board game from you.
You... I'd take my chances with.
(chuckling) I meant Jeff Morgan.
That wasn't the name he gave me.
Well, I'm sure he used a fake one. Mm.
He used all cash, too. And it was wet.
My mans was real sweaty... Ooh, this is it.
All right, well.
We need anything else, we'll let you know.
All righty.
(exhales) Could have come and cleaned the place out
before he was killed. Or someone did it after.
You smell that?
They put odorizing taggants in explosives
to make them more detectable.
Some say that it smells like almonds,
but most, uh, think it smells like motor oil.
Alice Morgan told Deeks her husband
smelled like motor oil after he traveled.
And Morgan recently gained access
to every military explosives manufacturer
across Southern California.
Which means he had access to everything
from det-cord to Comp B to... To C-4.
Usually, it's stored in bricks,
but cut into smaller pieces,
it tends to crumble.
What if this was never about his software?
What if Morgan was using his access
to slowly stockpile explosives
until he had a supply large enough to sell?
Well, if that's the case, where is it all now?
Hey, if there's a dead body, I call dibs.
My true crime podcast needs this.
No dead body, but this is now an active crime scene.
We'll need you to keep all the customers out.
Mm, and if they don't listen,
can I perform a citizen's arrest?
No, you cannot.
(scoffs) You're no fun.
Well, you should see what happens
when someone sinks my battleship.
When was the last time you saw
someone access that storage unit?
Well, there were three guys
I didn't recognize this morning.
They were taking out boxes
through the back. You have cameras back there?
Yeah, but my manager is the only one with access.
Call him, tell him to expect a call from us.
We're gonna need to see those videos.
Mm, and if he doesn't cooperate, can I...
No! No!
I'll track down Commander Burns.
Hopefully he put together a list of every weapon
and explosive that is currently unaccounted for.
Got it.
KILBRIDE: Alice Morgan
is telling the truth.
The Navy confirms that she did make calls
to abuse hotline several times
leading up to her husband's death.
Did they say if anyone ever acted upon those calls?
Their official response is that
they take all domestic abuse cases seriously
and there was not enough information to refer to us.
The hell?
So, Morgan just beats the hell out of his wife
and doesn't even get a slap on the wrist?
It's a problem that's been getting
a lot of justifiable attention in the press lately.
The Pentagon invested one billion dollars
specifically to remedy this very problem.
They are headed in the right direction.
Well, think of how much money they could have saved
if they just would have prioritized the victims
to begin with, sir.
There are only so many problems
that we can solve in one day,
this case being one of them.
Well, that's convenient.
If Alice didn't kill her husband,
see if she has any idea who did.
Was all that true? About your dad?
Every word of it.
ROBERTA: Hey, Kensi?
You're out of dryer sheets.
Oof. Where's Rosa?
Tay is having a crisis with another friend,
so Rosa is talking them down. (exhales)
You don't have to do this.
Oh, I don't mind. I've missed helping out.
(chuckles) Well...
Deeks and I have missed you helping out.
(laughing) Nice try.
You can't even look me in the eye and say that.
(laughs)
How you doing, kiddo?
Great. Good. (chuckles)
Fine. Tired.
And hungry, like, all the time.
Mm. Welcome to parenthood.
Mm, thank you,
but I am not "technically" a parent yet.
Do you love her
and want nothing more than to keep her safe?
Of course.
And do you constantly wake up
with the crushing fear that you're not doing enough
even though you're exhausted from doing too much?
Every single morning.
Well, then I don't give a damn about the technicalities.
You're a parent, sister. (exhales) Thanks.
but I just can't help but feel like I'm missing something
all the time.
You know, my entire career
is spent being one step ahead of somebody else,
and I thought it would be the same thing with parenting,
and it's just not.
Hmm.
My mother once gave me the best parenting advice
I've ever heard.
Yeah? She said, "Bertie,
raising kids is like being pecked to death by chickens."
I think she saw it on a sign in a gift shop at a rest stop.
Geez. Thought it'd be something a little more optimistic.
Oh, my God. What are you talking about?
It's a slow death.
You've got all the time in the world to figure it out.
(laugh)
I got your text, Shyla. What's up?
Nothing good, Shark Tank.
Just got security footage
from Lieutenant Morgan's storage space.
You should have it now.
Huh. Oh, great.
So, we're looking for three potentially armed
and dangerous pixels.
Needless to say, facial rec is having trouble getting an ID.
All right, well, I'll put it in front of Alice Morgan
and see if she recognizes any of them.
Thanks, Shyla.
(sighs) Sorry to interrupt.
We just got security cam footage
of a storage unit that's linked to your husband's name.
These three guys were trying to access his unit this morning.
You recognize any of them?
Hard to tell.
That guy.
My husband brought me to an event
a few weeks ago.
Some type of wine festival.
I don't know his name,
but I saw them talking to each other.
And you're sure it was him?
I remember thinking how badly
he needed to wash his hair.
Do you remember the date?
My birthday.
Here I thought he was finally doing something nice for me.
It was somewhere in Hollywood. Near the cemetery.
I'm gonna give this to Shyla.
Yeah, right.
Investigator Deeks. Yeah?
What happened to your father?
I shot him.
And two weeks later, he was in prison.
You did good.
(door closes)
(phone chimes) I should look into this.
Just in time.
Commander Burns.
How's the fallout down there?
Gentlemen, I assure you,
I am all over this matter.
Have you put together a list of the items
that are currently missing?
ATF has been in contact
with every manufacturer that Morgan visited.
We're looking at somewhere between 15 and 25 pounds
of C-4, Composition B and detcord,
not to mention an unknown supply of blasting caps.
That's quite a big range.
And if not handled properly,
it can cause an even bigger amount of damage.
So, were you aware
of the reports filed against Morgan by his wife?
Yes.
But I required further evidence
before I could pull him from his assignment.
Now, before you blame me,
let me expl... SHYLA: Guys,
you need to see this.
We'll be in touch.
CALLEN: What do we got?
Something between bad news and very, very bad news.
Oh, great. Another big range.
SHYLA: Alice Morgan said her husband controlled their bank account.
What she didn't know is that he controlled
multiple bank accounts,
three of which received separate deposits
in the amount of $9,000 last week.
Just under the amount that would trigger a CTR from the bank.
All three were wired from a company
called Met World Holdings,
which is a shell corp that traces back to this guy,
Ivan Parsons.
SAM: That's the same guy from the storage facility.
He also owns his own
import-export business here in L.A.
Looks like they do everything from fine foods to fine wines.
Which explains why Alice Morgan said
she saw him at the festival her husband took her to.
Well, something tells me his business is doing more
than importing and exporting food and wine.
He is suspected of having financial ties
to extremist groups in Ireland, Germany and Indonesia.
So far, no one's found enough to prove it.
Well, maybe getting caught with 25 pounds
of stolen military-grade explosives will do the trick.
How's that headache now?
I might just take you up on that single malt after all.
Well, I will interpret that as being not good.
How are we at locating Ivan Parsons?
Met World Holdings owns properties
all throughout the city
but recently applied for a permit
for an address in Hollywood.
As always, the city is backlogged.
So, at the moment,
that space seems to be unoccupied.
Hmm. Callen and Sam on their way?
SAM: We just got here.
How far out are Rountree and Deeks?
ROUNTREE: Deeks stayed behind.
He had to make sure that Alice Morgan got to a safe location.
I'm seven minutes away.
I don't have to remind you all
what it is we're dealing with here.
Parsons has enough explosives to take down an entire city block.
An outcome I would very much like to avoid.
Talk about avoidance. Don't start.
Can I stay on to see how this ends?
It ends, Agent Rountree,
with you recovering all the missing explosives
without incident.
The only way this city is going down in flames
is if I'm holding the match.
I got at least one inside. No sign of Parsons yet.
SHYLA: Should be another door around back.
Come on.
* *
CALLEN (quietly): I got Parsons.
He's in a hurry.
Well, hopefully he has time for a drink.
(glass shatters)
Yo, check it out.
(grunting)
Come on. Let's go.
(grunting)
(vehicle approaching)
Parsons, step away from the van.
Put your hands up.
All right, turn towards me slow.
Place the bag on the ground.
Ah, ah-- slowly.
There you go. Slow...
(grunts, panting)
(grunting)
(indistinct police transmission)
Turns out Morgan had made a deal with Parsons
but tried to back out at the last second.
After Parsons had already paid him almost $30,000.
Oh, so he's either scared or greedy.
Parsons tracked him down at his house,
tried to talk him out of it.
We know how that turned out.
I guess Morgan wasn't as tough as he thought he was.
They never are.
Hey.
Ah. My firstborn.
Your onlyborn.
Well, it's like I said--
I've never cared much for math. Come on and sit down,
take a load off.
You joining a sorority
or is one of those for me? Well,
it is now. (chuckles softly)
How was work today? (exhales)
Get all the cats out of the trees?
(chuckles)
(sighs) Yeah, I...
(chuckles) I did my best.
Can I ask you a question?
Sure.
I wanted to ask you a question about Dad.
Oh, honey, you know I don't like to dwell on my past.
See, that's not fair, 'cause it's our past.
(sighs)
Mm-mmm. Mm.
I just want to know how you made it through.
Vicodin.
And Sally Jessy Raphael.
Mom. (chuckles softly)
Oh, how the hell do I know, honey?
That son of a bitch sure didn't make it easy on us.
He took everything from us, kid.
Including the person I was.
But because of you...
...I got her back.
And I told myself I would never, ever lose her again.
Is the life I've made for myself, uh...
since then, I don't know, perfect?
No.
(chuckles) (chuckles softly)
But it's mine.
I'll drink to that. You bet.
Yeah. Hello!
Mm. Hey.
Hi. Where were you guys?
At the mall with Tay,
my friend from Calculus.
Kensi picked us up.
KENSI: Yeah. Um, and, actually, on the way home,
we were talking about maybe doing a little road trip
to San Francisco.
It's another place I've always wanted to visit.
I mean, that's an amazing idea.
You say the word, I pack the truck.
(laughs): Oh, Marty.
You're never gonna fit the four of us in a truck.
Sorry, what? (laughs)
But the good news is
I know a throuple up in Barstow
that'll rent us an RV super cheap.
Okay. Yeah.
That's the good news?
Yeah, man. That you know a throuple?
They have a...
Well, I'm not a part of it.
Mom, I swear to God.
Kensi? I'm not. I'm just very good friends with those ladies.
Mom!
Hey!
Sorry I'm late.
I'll change quickly. (grunts)
And then we can go to dinner.
Callen, what's going on?
I've decided to change course.
What's in the bag?
Bagels.
As requested.
(laughs)
Okay, I'm confused
and now very hungry.
Well, then I will make this quick.
Mm-hmm?
I love you.
And I would marry you tomorrow.
But if we are going to have a wedding...
we have to do it the right way.
And we need to be surrounded by...
everyone that means everything to us.
Our friends. And Arkady.
And Hetty.
You could have told me that sooner.
And I should've. I...
I've just already made so many excuses to push off our future.
I-I didn't...
I didn't want to make her one more.
Sounds like she is one now.
Yeah.
No, you're, uh...
you're right. I...
(sighs) Look,
as much as I want to fight it...
...Hetty's a huge part of my life.
She has been there from the beginning.
I thought I could turn and just...
we could move on with our lives, but...
(sighs) I can't do it.
Callen, why,
after all she's done, all the lies,
why do you still care?
Because I believe there's more to the story.
And I need her to tell it.
I need to give her one more chance to tell it,
from start to finish. No more...
secrets. No more lies. I...
If I don't do this,
there will always be another person in the room.
I am not asking for a lot of time.
Too bad.
'Cause I'm giving it to you.
Callen,
I want to marry you.
And nothing you can say or do is going to change that.
Anna,
I promise you...
No.
The only thing I want you to promise
is that you'll keep being honest with me.
Even when it's hard.
Especially when it's hard.
I will.
Good.
