[Lie to Love]

[Episode 29]

Little hedgehog. You're so cute.

You look just like a hairy egg.

[Xieyi]

Let's not see each other again.

Don't contact me anymore.

From now on, we have nothing to do with each other.

[Xieyi]

[Xieyi]

You wouldn't even look me in the eye when you said those things.

I believe you have your own reasons.

Could you tell Chestnut and me about it?

Xieqing. I'm here.

I'm having a terrible headache. Help me.

Headache?

What's the matter?

If you're having a headache, you should take medicine. Come on.

No, I feel like throwing up.

Super strong fever medication. It's very effective.

Here. No, I feel like throwing up.

Come on.

Do you want it to fry your brains? I'm saving your brains for a purpose.

When you recall the account number and password, I won't give a dime if you have a high fever.

Dropping the act already?

Trying to trick me into getting you out using the battered-body ruse?

Save it.

Are you even human?

So what if I am? And what if I'm not?

I came just to share some good news with you.

Xieyi broke up with Li Zeliang.

She's back by my side and she's going to be with me forever.

That's impossible.

Xieyi will never fall in love with you.

I know. But so what?

What matters is she pretends to fall head over heels in love with me.

Xieqing, you should know best.

Fake love is a kind of love too, isn't it?

I forgot to tell you.

It's all thanks to you.

I told Xieyi that you're still alive. She wants to see you so badly.

That's why she broke up with Li Zeliang.

You used me to threaten her?

Xie Minghao. That's so shameless of you.

Xieqing. There's something that I want to ask you.

Did you leave a message to Xieyi or something?

How did she figure out that what happened to Zhiwei two years ago was related to me.

Also, she said that I've been controlling you.

[To my beloved sister, Xieyi. If you're reading this, it means I have lost yet another bet. All my life, I've had so many regrets...]

From the looks of it, she has gotten her hands on it.

On what?

All thanks to you then.

You gave it to her yourself.

I'd given you a chance.

If you had the slightest bit of love for me,

Xieyi wouldn't have found out.

So what if she knows?

She still came back to me.

I'm going on a first date with Xieyi today. So I'm in a good mood.

As for the account number and password, I won't force you anymore.

I hope you'll recall it tomorrow.

You must be hungry.

Eat up. This is all the courtesy of your sister.

Enjoy.

Don't forget to get changed.

Xie Minghao, you scumbag!

What's the matter?

What's going on?

Did you have a fight?

She's in one of her moods today.

That's how couples are. You'll fight now, but kiss and make up later on.

- Just cheer her up will do. - That's right.

Did you make this?

Thank you.

You seem like someone who spoils your wife.

Did you just move in here?

Yes, we just moved in.

I live over there. If there's anything, just let me know.

Sure.

So sorry for disturbing you.

It's okay. I'll get going then.

Okay.

Finish it. Make sure there are no leftovers.

Otherwise, don't think about seeing Xieyi again.

These clothes that I bought for you suit you well.

What do you think?

Xieyi. Let's grab a doll.

I don't like it.

But I remember you do.

Come on.

Which do you like? Pick one.

This.

Okay.

For you.

Thank you.

Do you remember the doll that Xieqing had?

It was meant for you.

But too bad, Xieqing took it. No one will fight with you anymore.

No one will fight with you anymore. It's all yours now.

Today, I got to do a lot of things that I'd been wanted to do with you.

I'm really happy. Are you?

Xieyi. What are you looking at?

Brother Minghao.

There's a famous store in the mall that sells double skin milk.

Brother Minghao, buy one for me.

Okay. I'll get it for you right away.

I need time to get used to this.

Okay. I'll give you time.

Wait for me here. I'll be right back.

♫ Time tries to wash away my feelings for you ♫

♫ But I know how you mean the world to me ♫

Xieyi.

♫ I never knew I once lived in the dark ♫

♫ Till you came around ♫

♫ And now I can't live without your light ♫

♫ I need to be where you are ♫

♫ Listen to the stars ♫

♫ They tell me every night the stories of your past ♫

♫ Your shadows, your brokenness ♫

♫ I'm sorry I wasn't there for you ♫

Li Zeliang, what do you want?

♫ If I can grow a piece of feather on ever every scar ♫

Is Xie Minghao using the fire incident in Lantian Bay to blackmail you?

The incident in Lantian Bay was my doing. You don't have to investigate it anymore.

Xieyi. What exactly are you afraid of?

Xie Minghao isn't a good person.

He has something to do with what happened to your dad and sister.

Give me some time.

The police will find the evidence soon.

I'm well aware of the kind of person he is.

But just now,

you deliberately sent Xie Minghao away. Right?

I just didn't want the two of you to fight.

Xieyi.

You still worry about me. Right?

Don't flatter yourself.

Let go of me.

Don't move.

Let me listen to your heartbeat.

What are you trying to do?

Xieyi.

Do you remember the polygraph game that we played?

You still love me.

Your heartbeat proves it.

♫ Your shadows, your brokenness ♫

♫ I'm sorry I wasn't there for you ♫

♫ Listen to my heart ♫

♫ If I can grow a piece of feather on every scar ♫

♫ Then I'd have such wings ♫

Xieyi. We've been through so much together.

I don't believe...

I don't believe you'll fall for someone else that easily.

♫ To give you love ♫

You must be keeping something from me.

Tell me, will you?

No matter what it is,

I'll weather the storm with you.

My sister...

Li Zeliang!

You two have broken up!

Your conduct constitutes harassment! I can call the police!

Li Zeliang. If there's still a shred of conscience in you,

let go of Xieyi.

Li Zeliang.

We've broken up.

Stop bothering me.

I've broken up with Li Zeliang.

So when are you taking me to see my sister?

Let go of me!

Let go of me!

So only Li Zeliang can hug you?

Where's my sister's picture for today?

As a punishment, there's none.

Xie Minghao. You...

Don't think I don't know what you're up to.

You're trying to gather pictures of your sister to analyze her location, right?

Listen up.

I've edited all the photos. You won't get anything from it.

The more you can't forget Li Zeliang,

the more I'm going to double down on my efforts to take Ocean down!

Don't tell me you can't even pretend that you love me.

Oh, right. Something big is going down tomorrow.

Just wait for it.

It's a deal then. We'll buy that bag this weekend.

- Okay. - Okay.

Oh, no! We have a situation here!

What's the matter? It's not like the world has come to an end. Don't sweat it.

Stop eating already.

The world has.

Lately, Ocean has had a little bit of a setback,

but our performance has always far exceeded our peers.

The substantial shareholding disclosure by Zhengde and Diying

shows the confidence that they have in Ocean's future development.

Well said! Well said, Chairman Li.

What brings you here, President Dai?

I heard you're holding a charity event around the area.

So I dropped by to show my support.

Besides, I'm part of Ocean now.

That makes us family. Come on!

Look.

Since we're a family, won't you give me a hug?

It's very disheartening, you see.

Ladies and gentlemen.

This is a charity donation event for hearing impaired children.

Please focus on today's theme.

Next, let's have Mr. Li Zeliang make a donation to Zhenai Hospital

on behalf of Ocean Hotel.

This way, Chairman Li.

- Zeliang. - Chairman Li.

- Zeliang. - Chairman Li, are you okay? Can you stand?

I heard you once broke your left leg!

On top of that, you're suffering from burnout lately.

Your health condition is worrisome.

If you're not feeling well,

you should just stay at home.

Stop taking pictures! All of you!

Everyone. Indeed, I injured my left leg.

But it's always been taken care of by a professional doctor.

It's nothing serious, nor will it affect the future development of Ocean.

President Dai. Thank you for your concern.

I hope with you joining us, it'll take us to new heights.

Of course. That's for sure.

Here.

Invite the higher-ups to the stage to take a group photo.

Let's have the hospital representatives on the stage take a photo. Welcome.

[Charity Activities]

President Dai.

You can go down now.

Is your leg all right?

Chuchu.

Don't you think it's weird that Xieyi resigned?

Her leaving Ocean is the right thing to do.

What's the matter?

Even now, you're still concerned about her?

Are you aware of Ocean's situation now?

I bet you had an ulterior motive for putting her in charge

of the Lantian Bay project all of a sudden.

That's right.

I have no reason to hide it from you.

Before all this went down, I knew she was going to tinker with the purchase.

But I did that just to catch her in the act.

I didn't know it would turn into such a big deal.

Who told you that?

Xie Minghao, right?

Yes.

I did all this for Ocean's sake. I have a clear conscience.

Chuchu, I know everything you've done is for Ocean's sake,

but your method might not be the right one.

Take my advice. Stay away from Xie Minghao.

You don't even know him.

He and Dai Ziang are very tight now. Do you know that?

Do you know Su Xieyi then?

Everything she did was to avenge the Shen family.

She's the root cause for all that has happened!

She isn't worthy of your love.

Chuchu, I've said it before. Between us, we're just friends.

Xieyi has been tricked by Xie Minghao.

So have you.

Friends? Li Zeliang.

Is there a friend like me who's willing to rip her heart out for you?

Did you know that everyone started to avoid you after Zhengde suddenly boosted its stake?

I am the only one who is still by your side.

I even begged my dad to help you.

If my method is wrong, I don't mind apologizing to you.

But everything I do is for your own good.

I don't need that from you.

When you're wrong, you're wrong.

So It's all my wishful thinking?

Listen carefully.

I don't need your sympathy or your apology.

Shi Chuchu.

All right.

Li Zeliang. Remember what you've said today.

Don't come begging me ever again.

Mr. Xie.

Here's another good news.

Li Zeliang and Shi Chuchu had a falling out.

Director Shi.

Why did you suddenly ask me out for sightseeing?

Zhengde and Diying Media boosted their stakes at the same time. Do you know that?

It's the talk of the town. Who doesn't know?

Why didn't you tell me that you're tight with President Dai?

Between Zhengde and I, it's just normal business cooperation.

You should know better who's responsible for that batch of insulation boards.

Besides, you saw it yourself.

Chairman Li has always had a problem with me.

I'm no longer in charge of Ocean's important contracts.

I'm just a lawyer. I need to make a living.

Well, what's the deal with President Dai?

President Dai is one who holds a grudge.

Previously, Chairman Li stole the deal with Fujiade from him.

He's been holding a grudge since.

Now that Ocean is rife with scandals,

he's not going to let such a good opportunity slip away.

Tomorrow, he plans to hold a shareholders meeting in Ocean to impeach Li Zeliang.

I won't let that happen.

Director Shi, I think this is a good opportunity for you.

Why is that?

I have heard about you and Li Zeliang.

The fire in Lantian Bay was clearly Xieyi's fault.

He chose to protect her

and hold you accountable instead.

After what he's done to you,

won't you feel disheartened?

I think tomorrow's shareholders' meeting is the best time for you to test him.

At that time, if he still refuses to beg you for help,

what else do you expect of him then?

Be it career or love, making a timely exit is the best choice.

Why are you looking at me like that?

Does it suddenly hit you that I'm the one who knows you best?

Actually, we're the same.

In love, we're the ones who need to be saved.

Thank you for your concern.

It's quite a nice view.

You can come here more often.

There's no trace of my sister living here.

Where exactly is she?

[Incoming call: Dr. Wu]

- Hello? - Miss Su.

Why did Mr. Li postpone the follow-up?

Follow-up?

Mr. Li is suffering from osteomyelitis and it's serious.

You have to take it seriously.

What did you say?

If it's not treated in time, osteomyelitis may become cancerous.

Bring him to do a follow-up as soon as possible.

Understood.

Cancerous?

Oh, no. Our company's stock price keeps dropping.

Isn't it evil of Zhengde to boost its stake now?

Chairman Li is nowhere to be seen. Should we run?

Come on! It's not like we're going to war.

Should we invite a master here to do prayers and get rid of bad luck?

You look like one to me. Why don't you perform the ceremony?

It's Xieyi. I'm sure she knows what's happening.

Hello, Mingyue.

Hey, Xieyi. Where are you? Why haven't you been coming to work?

I have things to take care of.

By the way, where's Chairman Li? Is he in the office?

Don't you know? Zhengde and Diying have boosted their stakes

and they hold over 10 percent of Ocean shares.

We're all worried sick and we can't get a hold of Chairman Li.

Can't get a hold of him?

He's not in the office anyway. Is he at home?

I have things to do. That's all for now.

You can't meet or contact Li Zeliang anymore.

No WeChat, phone calls, or emails. Nothing.

Otherwise, you know what I would do to Xieqing and Li Zeliang, right?

Hello.

Xieyi, where are you?

Just taking a stroll outside.

Come with me to a party tonight.

With whom?

You'll know when you get there.

[No. 9 Steak House]

You're really something.

I haven't even made you pay for standing me up the other day.

And now, you're making me drink with you during the day.

All right. Stop drinking.

You've had enough.

You merely had a fight with A'Liang. All right.

Right now, I'll give him a call and get him to come apologize to you.

I don't want to see him.

A'Liang has been under a lot of pressure lately.

After the fire in Lantian Bay, he had to make a public apology.

It's normal to be in a bad mood. Be more understanding.

Understanding of him?

He's clearly being unprofessional.

You know what?

The fire in Lantian Bay happened

because Su Xieyi bought a batch of low-quality insulation boards to avenge the Shen family.

Zeliang made a public apology to protect her.

Xieyi taking revenge? That's impossible!

Her feelings for A'Liang are real. There's no reason for her to take revenge.

Why are all of you taking her side?

Boring.

- I'm leaving. - Shi Chuchu, stand right there!

Shi Chuchu!

I went to visit Xieyi the other day.

A'Liang just had a fight with her and she was very depressed.

So she told me what happened back then.

Zhiwei's bankruptcy had nothing to do with A'Liang.

It was all Shen Xieqing and Xie Minghao's doing.

What do you mean?

Make things clear.

I can do that.

Chuchu. I came to apologize to you.

I'm sorry.

I deliberately said those things in the afternoon for President Dai to hear.

I don't need that from you.

When you're wrong, you're wrong.

Lately, Dai Ziang and Xie Minghao have been very tight.

I've checked.

Zhengde and Diying's shareholders are Dai Ziang and Xie Minghao.

Judging from today's situation,

their motives are simple, which is to acquire Ocean.

Xie Minghao is Diying's shareholder?

Not only that. Before Shen Xieqing went missing, she met up with me.

She admitted that Zhiwei's funding hole was related to her.

In terms of the contract, this thing had to be done through Xie Minghao.

He's Shen Xieqing's fiance.

So I surmise that these things must have something to do with him.

I've explained everything to the police.

On top of that, have you considered the fact that perhaps, the timing of the disclosure

of the project proposals weren't after we decided to go through with the project

but before?

And during that time, only Xie Minghao fits the criteria to do that.

Actually, there are two options available for Ocean.

First, set up hotels overseas. Second, build local projects.

As expected of our ace commercial lawyer. You sure know a lot.

I'm responsible for commercial projects.

If I don't even know these,

it means I haven't been doing my job.

The transaction hasn't even gone through.

If you make a deal out of this, it won't do any harm to Xieyi.

I know how you feel. But we have to be patient.

It will only work if you report her after the transaction goes through.

The logic behind all this turmoil is pretty obvious now.

From the story leaked out by He Jianghua to the fire in Lantian Bay,

they're the ones responsible for all that.

Their motives are simple. They want to suppress Ocean's stock price

and then, take the opportunity to buy Ocean shares.

I've been fooled by Xie Minghao all this time.

Even today, he was still trying to fool me.

I was too impulsive.

Chuchu, it's not your fault. Xie Minghao is too cunning.

Now that Ocean is in trouble, you, of all people, are more worried.

It's my fault for being insensitive.

That's enough. Don't just keep apologizing to one another.

Right now, it's the time we join hands and fight against the enemy.

A'Liang. You already have a plan in mind, right?

Don't bother. After the shareholding disclosure, Dai Ziang will surely force me to step down.

At that time, I'll need all nine directors to vote by show of hands.

Lately, Dai Ziang is tight with a few of them. So...

Chuchu, your vote will be especially critical.

I think Xie Minghao will try to rope you in.

That's right.

He already did.

But don't worry. This time, I'm not going to take their side.

No. On the contrary, I think you should support him.

Why?

I've long been a thorn in Dai Ziang and Xie Minghao's sides.

If I don't step down, they'll only double down their efforts to take Ocean down.

Why don't I take evasive action?

Dai Ziang is the kind to let his guard down once he gets carried away.

Besides, given Dai Ziang's capability,

he couldn't possibly come up with that many funds to buy Ocean's equity.

He has always been known for being aggressive and vicious.

If I'm right,

he is likely to pledge his equity in Zhengde.

Got it. His aggressiveness is his weak point that gives us an edge over him.

If we can find evidence of him behind the Lantian Bay incident,

then it will backfire on Zhengde, and its stock price will plummet.

At that time, he'll surely sell Ocean's shares that he just bought to save Zhengde.

If luck isn't on his side, there'll be forced liquidation of his pledged equity.

Then, he'll end up empty-handed.

Wow, incredible!

Such a wonderful business war. Director Shi and Chairman Li.

How can I just sit by and watch? It's too exciting.

So? Do you want to play us a rock song to liven things up?

Zhengde's pledged equity is just your speculation.

We need to verify it first.

Besides, this is huge.

You'll need my help to ask around.

This time, Hou Xiaodong could be of help.

After all, his dad is a fund industry giant.

Madam. I haven't been home in years.

That's why you should go home.

Chuchu.

Spare him.

Xiaodong chose to be a rock singer to avoid inheriting his family business.

A'Liang, you're such a loyal friend.

So Since my buddy is in trouble, how can I sit by and do nothing?

President Dai. The reason I helped was solely for my own reputation.

I shall not accept money that... I shouldn't.

What do you mean by that? It's what you deserved.

Here, I'll put it in for you. Here. Don't stand on ceremony.

No, President Dai. I really can't take it.

This kind of thing can't happen again.

You chief editor have quite some character.

- Acting noble, huh? - No.

Fine. Go home and think about it.

President Dai. Well... I shall get going then.

Miss Su. Lawyer Xie. President Dai is waiting for you inside.

[Recording]

Give me your phone. I don't want anyone to interrupt my private party.

Satisfied?

Yes, she just went inside.

She was with Xie Minghao.

Keep an eye on them.

Okay.

Hello, Mr. Li. Hold on. I just saw someone.

- Who? - He Jianghua.

Follow him.

Let me know where you are later. I'm coming over now.

Okay.

Come on. Welcome.

Finally, you brought your girlfriend along.

Hi, President Dai.

Hi.

Have we met somewhere before?

The crab roe noodles restaurant. You're getting prettier.

President Dai. Tomorrow is the day for us boosting our stakes. How about celebrating it?

That's right. I've prepared the wine.

It's all thanks to Miss Su. You have to drink this.

If it hadn't been for you,

it wouldn't be that easy for us to become Ocean's shareholders.

Here. Cheers.

President Dai is an outstanding person.

It's an honor for Ocean to have you as its shareholder.

Is it? But what I want isn't to be just the shareholder.

Tomorrow, we're attending Ocean's board meeting.

At that time, Li Zeliang won't be able to keep his position.

Here. Cheers. Miss Su.

[Physique Gym]

Mr. Li. He's inside.

Okay. Wait outside for me.

Okay.

Li Zeliang. What brings you here?

Well, you stood me up the other day.

I came here today to have a chat with you, Chief Editor He.

I don't think we have anything to talk about.

Really?

I would like to ask you something regarding the fire in Lantian Bay.

Look, the directors aren't happy with a lot of things that Li Zeliang did.

The board has nine members.

I've roped three of them over.

Me included, we have four votes on our side.

The most important now is Shi Chuchu's vote.

She has had a fall out with Li Zeliang.

On top of that, I've messed with her mind.

So it's not going to be a problem.

Nice!

The thought of the situation that Li Zeliang will be in tomorrow

just makes me feel so good.

I can't help but shake it.

Li Zeliang.

Brother Minghao. How about a dance?

Yes!

Nice!

That's a good suggestion.

I found something on the construction site in Lantian Bay.

Mr. He. Take a look.
