=Episode 32=

Edward?

Come here.

How dare you, Edward!

You've been back all along,

but you never told me!

I just reached. Really.

I swear.

Not bad.

Your Chinese is still great.

Mai Qi.

Actually this time,

I came specially to find you.

I've sold my house in the US.

I...

am moving back.

Where are you moving to?

You stupid foreigner.

I'm Chinese now.

Isn't this great?

Your Edward is back too.

Why did you come back?

There's no time like the present.

Mai Qi.

Marry me.

Xiao Man.

Now that you're here,

I don't have to worry about Shao Ting.

Qin Ling

is now the chairperson.

Albeit the acting chairperson.

So it was him.

Unforeseen circumstances.

Too fast. Too dramatic.

Step after step.

Without any obstacles.

And so Qin Ling successfully

became the new chairperson.

Wrong.

It was not fast at all.

If my guess is correct,

this plan

was already crafted

even before Shao Ting returned.

How is that possible?

Although I was angry

about the trouble Shao Ting caused in the US,

I never considered

making him come back

because he hadn't finished

his studies.

However,

Qin Ling

secretly found out

that Shao Ting obtained

his Master's Degree in Computer Science.

So I thought

that he may as well come back.

It was also about time

to let him take over the business.

About my Master's Degree,

it was indeed Qin Ling who told my dad.

After that,

he arranged for Shao Ting

to interview with Brain Data.

Since it was relevant to his degree,

I thought he should go out

to gain some experience.

So...

I agreed.

Then...

Brain Data won the tender.

My relation with my dad was exposed.

A conviction was upheld for

improper receipt of benefits.

I'm going to look for him!

Lin Shao.

Qin Ling might not

be the one who exposed your relationship.

If it was him,

then the stakes would be much higher.

Who else could it be?

It must be him!

The conviction

in reality only affects

the reputation of Mr. Liang and Qian Da.

Not serious enough to put him into jail.

And then he became

the chairperson.

After this,

are they intending to sell the factory?

That's right.

The decision is now in their hands.

When the news report was published,

the rumors that Qian Da Financial is going down

have also reduced.

Whatever happened

was beyond my control.

My only regret

is this business

that I had built with my own hands.

Lawyer Cheng,

may I say something?

What's most important now is the two billion yuan.

Chen Da Yuan has only admitted

to taking two million yuan.

So where did the rest of the money go?

They probably

want to put the blame

on me.

If Qin Ling wants to

remain as the chairperson,

then Qian Da's finances

must not have any problems.

He will find a way for the company

to make up the two billion.

You previously mentioned

that this matter

was managed by Qin Ling.

Then is it possible,

if we stretched our imaginations a bit,

that it was him who embezzled the money.

If that's the case,

then I can connect the dots.

First, he devised the incident with Teng Fei Financial,

pretended that his investment failed,

forcing me to get rid of half of my business.

Then...

he embezzled the two billion yuan,

hid it from me,

scammed our clients,

and purchased other products.

Once he becomes the chairperson,

he will use this as an excuse

to get rid of the remaining half of the business.

He'll have the money.

Qian Da's

business is gone.

The legal disputes with the clients

will also be resolved.

This kills four birds with one stone.

So

he created the impression

that Qian Da was in a crisis,

so that the shareholders

would give up on Qian Da.

If the money

is really with Qin Ling,

then he won't be sitting still.

He will take action.

It's possible

that he'll run off

with the money.

And what if the money isn't with him?

Isn't the police also investigating

this sum of money?

If we cooperate with them,

we will definitely find something.

No harm trying.

After all, I now

have nothing

left to lose.

It's just that this...

Qian Da...

Lao Liang.

Xiao Man.

Do not let Shao Ting know about this.

I don't want him to be implicated.

Wu Yue.

Ms. Lin is with me.

Ms. Lin.

Say something to Shao Ting.

Here's what you've always been waiting for.

Shao Ting.

Shao Ting.

Uncle Liang.

Actually,

he has always wanted to

make you proud.

He has always cared about you

and loved you.

Mr. Qin.

We have news from the US

that there has indeed been

a young man with the surname Lin

visiting Ms. Lin frequently.

He's going almost every day.

(Lin Shao Ting)

Pretty good, right?

(File Case)

Recently, there have been a record number

of calls to the TV station.

There are more victims than we estimated.

The complaints have gone down recently.

Qian Da has a new chairperson.

They also promised to give compensation.

Naturally, the complaints would reduce.

Thanks for

this list.

(IOU)

When you revealed information

on Wu Yue at the beginning,

what did you say?

You said you'll help us collect the debt.

Where is the money?

Mr. Yu.

We are civilized people.

There's no need to do this.

Didn't you get

Wu Yue

to return the money to you?

Haven't we

paid you almost all

of the interest payments?

You think I'm a beggar?

I've already received the summons from the courts.

Saying that the excess interest

doesn't count.

That has nothing to do with me.

I'm here for the 20 million.

I've only received about two million.

You need to make up the difference.

But the money

isn't borrowed by us.

Is your face

worth a few millions?

I think their hands would be quite valuable.

Don't mess around.

Come on. Give it to me.

No, no, no.

Don't be scared.

Open up!

Shuimu Garden Villas, Block 8.

Open the door!

Hit him with something!

Chief An.

We have identified the people who broke into

Professor Su's house.

We have also caught

the leader behind the group.

We also found one more thing.

This Professor Su

had relations with these loan sharks

prior to this.

I've read Su Feng's statement.

The relationship between him,

the loan sharks, and Wu Yue

is more complicated than we expected.

There may be wide-ranging implications.

We will have to dig deeper into this

and find out the truth of the matter.

Understood.

I didn't expect

you to be such a person.

Xiao Man.

Don't say that of your father.

So the person

who revealed the ID

was also you?

If you don't say anything,

then I will have to ask the police

to come again.

Fine. I'll speak.

It was me.

First, it was Wu Yue.

Now, it's Lin Shao.

Will the next person

you hurt be me, Dad?

How can you say that?

Even if I hurt someone, it won't be you.

Wait.

What's going on with Xiao Jia?

Ask him yourself.

What's going on?

Liang Hong Da

and Lin Shao Ting's relationship

is actually no secret in the first place.

All I did was

say it as it is.

Say it as it is?

You said it

and now his father is detained.

You are clearly

twisting the facts.

Liang Hong Da's matter

and my matter are two separate issues.

What about the tender previously?

And the loan sharks just now?

Are you not involved in any of that?

The issue with the tender.

Hasn't it been resolved?

They destroyed me.

I must make them

pay the price!

Su Feng.

If you still regard me

as your wife,

you have to listen to me.

Turn yourself in.

My dear.

What are you saying?

If I turn myself in,

I will spend

the rest of my life in jail.

And your Wu Yue.

You think he's clean?

He's an accomplice!

Mom,

let's pack our things and go.

I can't possibly

live with a person like this.

Whether you turn yourself in

or go into hiding

is none of my business.

Fine.

Fine.

You want me to turn myself in?

I'll turn myself in right now!

You will regret this!

Let's go.

Where to?

The hotel.

Going to a hotel

can't be a long-term plan.

Didn't you and Chai Qing

rent a place together?

Can't we go there?

Aunty.

Isn't it

a bit too late?

Not at all.

I'll give her a call.

Don't tell me you two are quarreling.

Let me call her.

What about I call her?

The incident happened so long ago.

I do miss her.

Wu Yue.

Thank you for

taking care of Xiao Man during this period.

I've been cleaning your room every day.

Thank you.

For what Xiao Man's father has done,

I apologize to you on his behalf.

I hope

it won't affect your relationship with Xiao Man.

Don't worry.

It's all in the past.

It's just that

Professor Su...

Let's not talk about him.

Xiao Man.

Come here.

Thanks for tonight.

Won't your landlady scold you

for going back so late?

I'm meeting Edward to discuss a big matter.

Edward...

He's back?

Calligraphy Teacher,

remember to go to work.

Go home.

Thank you.

What's wrong?

Still thinking of Wu Yue?

No.

Just thinking that change is the only constant.

The me in the past,

always thought that when compared to you

and Lin Shao,

I was way too plain and ordinary.

Which is why I couldn't help

being secretly jealous of you two.

But looking back,

being ordinary

may not be a bad thing.

So

are we still good friends?

Of course.

We were. We are.

And we will remain good friends.

But in the future,

will everything become better?

(Recruitment)

(Smart card)

(Brain Data)

(Suicide)

If you don't pay up in three months,

don't blame me for what happens!

You're forcing me to die!

We are going to seize your home.

Do you know that

I'm in urgent need of money?

You have to at least give me some explanations?

We're just following the contract.

I want a refund!

Are you sure there's no problem?

Let's just pay the money

for the last few months.

(Cashback card) Is it really as good as you say?

This product

will open the doors

to a new era of mobile payment.

If you join us now,

it'll only cost 2 million.

(The bank is asking for money again.)

(But our financial products)

(have not reached maturity yet.)

If it's convenient for you today,

then we can sign the contract.

(Wu Zhang Hai) Recently, that salesperson from Qian Da

recommended something good to me.

A financial product.

(Suicide)

Chen Da Yuan, Chen Da Yuan.

You are really bold!

You even dare to touch your client's capital sum!

Where's the money?

Hand it over!

Secretary Qin. The money...

I've used it all.

Great.

Since that's the case,

I have no choice but to call the police.

So what you're saying is...

there's another way?

There is a way

for you to make up for it.

Recently, the company's

investments have encountered some problems.

As long as you can convince all the clients

to accept

and change to another

new financial product,

instead of asking for a refund,

buy the company some time,

then you can take this sum of money

as a bonus from the company.

Is this also Mr. Liang's intention?

Anyway,

this matter

must be kept secret.

As it affects the company's reputation,

besides you, me,

and the chairperson,

nobody can know about this.

As for the clients,

they must not know

about the company's mistakes in the investments.

Secretary Qin.

This is too challenging.

Then all the best to you.

If you slip up...

I understand.

I have a piece of good news for everyone!

Chai Qing and I are good now.

That's amazing!

I thought that the two of you

will never talk to each other again.

What's wrong?

Not happy after getting

your mom's video call?

She seems to be doing well.

What's wrong?

Still worried

about Mr. Liang?

Xiao Man,

did he tell you anything else?

Xiao Man.

Do not let Shao Ting know about this.

I don't want him to be implicated.

Although he went to the US,

I'm afraid that

it was also part of Qin Ling's plan.

But

that was also

what I wished for.

Actually,

Shao Ting is a sensible person.

All this time,

I have been hoping that

he would take over the family business.

Perhaps,

what he really wants

is freedom.

Uncle Liang.

Actually,

he has always wanted to

make you proud.

He has always cared about you

and loved you.

Just remember

that you have always been his pride.

Stop joking.

What? Feeling shy?

I know him.

I never met his expectations.

He thinks I'm not good enough.

Your father and you

are both so prideful.

Things are already like this,

yet you're still being shy?

I will definitely make Qin Ling

pay the price.

I've already obtained

a list of all the victims.

Just wait for my update.

We'll move according to plan.

But...

I need an assistant.

There's nothing that

our STAR student Wu can't do.

Yet, he needs

an assistant?

If it's working behind the scenes,

then I won't need any help.

But this time,

I need someone who can

take action openly.

Take actions openly?

Lin Shao can't appear in public.

It can't be him.

It can't be me either!

If I had to appear in public,

I'd probably be paralyzed in fear.

Xiao Man...

I'm afraid she...

Afraid what...?

He's afraid you'll become violent.

I know

you guys want me to drag Chai Qing into this.

I never expected Qian Da

to be so shameless.

At that time, they were

being so convincing.

They said that their new product

was good in every way.

And tricked us

into transferring money to them.

But now,

is Qian Da

really not going to give us a refund?

The new chairperson

openly promised that

there would be no problems.

We have also received

a part of

the revenue.

If you think about it carefully,

you should understand.

At the start,

did he tell you

not to disclose

anything related to the change in products?

This is what happened.

That salesperson by the name of Chen

told me that

it was a special project

for an old client,

which was why the interest

was so high.

But

the pre-condition was that

it had to be kept secret.

Could it be

that they already

had no money at that time?

I have insider information

from a friend at the TV station.

She clearly told me that

Qian Da

is already

on the brink of collapse.

Let alone compensation,

it may not be able to survive.

Now, Qian Da

is playing the same old tricks,

trying to drag this out for as long as possible.

But as you know,

in the past year,

Qian Da has been facing all kinds of problems.

The situation will only get worse.

Thankfully,

I was quite careful back then.

I only invested 500,000 yuan.

If I had invested more,

I might now

be ruined.

(That salesperson from Qian Da_

(recommended something good)

(to me.)

(When will you give me the money you owe me?)

(We are going to seize your home.)

(We're just following the contract.)

(You're forcing me to die!)

Mr. Wu.

Sorry.

I was empathizing with you.

From the looks of it,

you must have invested quite a sum as well?

Yes.

Thanks.

You must have met

more than 10 people today, right?

Don't tell me

you've changed career and started selling insurance.

If I start selling insurance,

the first person I go to will be you.

I don't know

what you guys are busy with,

but

you must take care of your health.

Look.

Your dark circles are appearing.

It's all worth it no matter how tiring.

What about you?

How's the wedding preparation going?

What would a little punk like you know?

Sure, sure.

It's none of my business.

Then I'll leave.

There aren't any problems.

It's just that

we're short of a best man.

Aren't you afraid

that I'll be selling insurance at your wedding?

I'll even help you sell!

Don't worry.

I will definitely attend.

That's a promise.

Oh, right.

Don't forget to

bring my godson to the wedding as well.

Tian Tian misses you too.

Okay.

I'll get back to work.

Lin Shao.

Have you published

the advertisement for your house?

Why can't I find it?

Oh, no.

I forgot.

What?

You forgot?

Where are you?

Where did you go?

Since I'm about to sell the house,

I made a trip back

to take some things.

Dude,

I'm not asking you

to actually sell your house.

It's just to make people take notice.

I'm just afraid...

Okay, okay.

Take whatever you want.

You better hurry up.

Don't let anyone spot you.

Okay.

Everything is ready.

Now we have to wait for the right moment.

Don't worry.

When have I ever been a hindrance?

Of course I trust you.

But you shouldn't

expect too much.

After all,

Qian Da

is a company that has weathered through it all.

These groundless accusations based on hearsay

may not have much impact.

I also thought of that at the time.

So

I've also arranged for

a hidden assassin.

I can no longer

tell what's going through your mind.

You've said something similar before too.

That's not the same.

You were

a lot more reserved.

Previously,

you were more like a black hole.

Anything that goes in

will never come out.

You are now more like

the sun.

I feel the warmth

standing next to you.

If you stand next to the sun,

I doubt you'll be just warm,

but burnt.

I used to think so too.

Enjoying the sunlight

is human nature.

But it is only

the tranquil moonlight

that can truly let people sleep peacefully.

No matter how dazzling the thing is,

if you look at it for too long,

it will be glaring.
