[Immortal Samsara]

[Episode 9]

[Pavilion of Books]

I'll put it here.

I'm forced to be on duty here.

It's okay if I can't attend

a grand event like Jade Pool Festivity.

But you

shone out

and achieved the goal as you wished.

Why did you have to rush to return the books

instead of celebrating with the rest?

It's not like the Pavilion of Books will close down soon.

Besides,

why did you come back alone?

Where are Yumo and Zhixi?

Well.

Didn't your backer, Sovereign Lord Yingyuan, promise...

None of them came with me.

It's just me.

I returned the book. I'm leaving now.

Little Tortoise.

Take it easy.

Yumo hasn't come yet.

Let's wait for a while.

Who's that?

How dare you break into Yanxu Heavenly Palace at night?

Who are you?

Who are you looking for?

I'm usually dutiful

and help the poor and those in need.

I've never done anything harmful to others.

Are you looking for the wrong person?

No.

I'm looking for you.

I became like this

because you cursed me.

I always treated you well.

I didn't expect you to be so ungrateful.

Now,

I want you to pay for what you did!

There's a ghost!

Which palace's immortal attendant are you?

Why did you fall from above?

Here's Treasure Pavilion.

If the gift box hadn't been carried away

and the heavenly soldiers who guarded it hadn't withdrawn,

I'd suspect you of deliberately stealing artifacts.

Leave now.

No.

Sir.

You misunderstood.

I'm just a low-rank immortal attendant.

Did you see anyone else tonight?

Is there

a man

with hair like this?

Who?

Do you have an accomplice for a robbery?

No, not at all.

Or maybe I should bring you to the Heavenly Prison to find him?

It's okay.

I'll leave.

I won't bother you on night duty.

Why did Yumo

stand me up again?

(Is the Sacred Temple so spiritual?)

(Did I really hurt Sovereign Lord Yingyuan?)

Little Tortoise.

The reward of the Dragon King has been carried away.

But don't worry.

I'll try to get you out again.

(Hopefully, I can make it.)

Yumo.

Why are you so late?

The play is over.

As long as the lantern is still on,

the play isn't over yet.

(The Divine-Demon War is over.)

(Are there still some spies left?)

Who are you?

Don't come here.

This is a forbidden area.

Leave quickly.

Don't spread what you see today.

Your Majesty.

I'm an immortal attendant

of the Pavilion of Artifacts.

I didn't mean to intrude

and bother you today.

Don't worry.

I'm absolutely tight-lipped.

I won't spread this matter.

The sacred tree is dangerous.

Let me save Your Majesty first.

You don't have to.

I'm just a sinner.

I'm no longer a Sovereign Lord.

I'm responsible

for the Divine-Demon War.

Now,

I've been caught in Flame of Wuwang.

There's no cure for it.

I'm willing to constrain myself here.

You can save your breath.

Why do you think so?

Everyone is grateful for Your Majesty's contribution

to the Heavenly Realm.

His Supreme Majesty even praised Your Majesty

for being righteous on Jade Pool Festivity.

Did you attend Jade Pool Festivity?

Did you see the play

"The Tale of The Genesis Hero"?

I heard earlier

that a bold immortal attendant

wanted to replay the old history of genesis

to ask for a favor

from His Supreme Majesty.

How was her play?

Has she realized her wish?

The play was a great success.

It brought the house down.

All the celestial deities appreciated it very much.

If Your Majesty is present,

I'm sure you'll like it.

Great.

It's good that she realized her wish.

I...

The way I look now

only makes people sad.

I have

no more regrets.

You may leave now.

I know

I've bothered Your Majesty's cultivation.

I should make up for it.

It seems Your Majesty

like the play very much

and is very curious.

I have a very good memory.

Let me tell Your Majesty some about it.

The play was very lively.

Your Majesty could be

less depressed after hearing it.

If you want to do that for peace of mind,

just do as you like.

Luming.

You're finally here.

Tell me what happened at the festivity.

It's the first time I saw Yandan so down.

Where's Yandan?

She left after returning the book.

She didn't say anything when I asked her.

We promised to release the divine tortoise together.

But I didn't see her

after waiting for a long time.

There's still time.

I'll go and find her.

Fortunately,

it's not too late.

(Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.)

This scene is over.

Let me play the next scene for Your Majesty.

(Sovereign Lord Yingyuan?)

They're the genesis heroes

of the Six Realms.

These heroes don't care whether they're remembered or not.

Because of them,

this new world is the monument they established.

The rain on the Mortal Realm

is the ancient gods'

mourning and gratitude for these heroes.

Has Celestial Deity Beiming, whom you mentioned

at the end of the play, also died?

During the Divine-Demon War,

the Demons made a surprise attack.

His immortal spirit has dissipated.

He passed away

before Jade Pool Festivity.

That's why she added this scene.

You may leave now.

Don't come here and make trouble again.

Thank you for your good intention today.

Your Majesty.

I acted so hard just now.

Don't Your Majesty

have any thoughts after listening to it?

The opinion of a sinner

isn't worth mentioning.

Since Your Majesty doesn't want to say it,

I'd like to comment on it.

In my opinion,

the war was very brutal.

Winning or losing

isn't the sin of an individual or a clan.

Your Majesty created the world.

Doesn't Your Majesty

miss the new world

you established yourself?

Doesn't Your Majesty have any affection for it?

May I ask

Your Majesty to untie yourself from the sacred tree

and return to the palace soon to calm everyone down?

There's no need.

No!

Do you know what Flame of Wuwang is?

Once the fire poison breaks out,

it'll hurt others uncontrollably.

If you set me free from the tree,

you won't save me

and you'll hurt yourself.

It'll bring chaos to the Three Realms.

Hurry up and leave!

How could it be?

Your Majesty is the Sovereign Lord.

There are many excellent heavenly physicians

in the Heavenly Infirmary.

They'll cure you.

I'm no longer a Sovereign Lord.

Stop calling my name!

Go!

Leave now!

I'll find a way.

I'll find a way!

Go!

(All my fellows are dead.)

(I've committed an unforgivable crime.)

(Please help me end this miserable life.)

(I tried my best to turn into a human.)

(Now it seems)

(I'd better be a fish.)

(Then I'd be unfettered by joy and worry)

(and more comfortable.)

Are my son and Zhaolan

having a good time here?

The heavenly aura of Xuanxin Cliff

is extraordinary indeed.

You two will soon be transformed.

Aoxuan.

I'll teach you another set of Qi-gathering methods.

Practice it well with Zhaolan.

She's your future wife.

I hope you two will transform soon

and become a much-told tale of our Dragon Clan.

[Xiaoyun Hall]

(I also had this happy gathering)

(and beautiful scene once.)

(However, the best days)

(have passed in the blink of an eye.)

(Master died.)

(Everything goes back to the beginning.)

(I'm still)

(just a lonely little black fish.)

(Master.)

(If you were still there,)

(would everything be different?)

(Am I too greedy?)

(I only found it ordinary)

(watching you make noise)

(and joke around me.)

(Now seeing you)

(treat others so well,)

(why am I so sad?)

[The Sacred Temple]

[First wish for all my wishes to come true...]

[Third wish for Yumo to be happy...]

(Flame of Wuwang.)

(The crooked Sovereign Lord had always been so majestic.)

(How could it cause him so much pain?)

[Recovery for Yingyuan]

All Gods and Lords,

I was joking before.

I just wanted to teach him a lesson.

I didn't mean to harm him.

Please be the bigger person.

Let bygones be bygones.

I'll make a new wish.

I hope Sovereign Lord Yingyuan recovers from injury, regains sight,

and go on being the Sovereign Lord who awes the Three Realms.

My Pavilion of Books

isn't a forbidden place.

Why do you come

at dark every time?

Stop looking.

Yandan isn't here.

I'm not looking for her.

-I'm here to... -Come on.

As long as she's away,

you'll be like out of your mind.

The book says

that it's called lovesickness.

Lovesickness?

What is lovesickness?

You asked the right person.

Lovesickness is

that you want to be with her all the time.

If she smiles,

you'll be delighted.

If she cries,

you'll feel anxious.

If she cries or laughs for others,

you'll feel very miserable.

As the mortals say,

"I'd never known what lovesickness is since I was born."

This poem once appeared in Yandan's play.

"I'd never known what lovesickness is since I was born.

I just learned what it is,

but I'm already suffering from it."

Yumo.

Are you going to get yourself killed?

Falling in love is an offence of heavenly law.

Could it be

Yandan rejected you?

I stood her up.

She also stood me up.

But

she doesn't care

whether I've been there or not.

You made it sound miserable.

Did you two quarrel?

I think it's a quarrel only when it involves two sides.

But these are

all my thoughts.

Yandan doesn't know it at all.

Promise me

not to tell her.

Black Soil!

Why didn't you

attend Jade Pool Festivity?

I...

He did attend.

He was just late.

You came late.

Then why didn't you tell me in advance?

Then where did you go

after the play?

I can't say

because I promised someone else.

And

we promised to release the tortoise.

I've been waiting long for you at the Treasure Pavilion.

Why didn't you come as well?

I...

When the Dragon King of the East Sea

taught his son the method at Xuanxin Cliff last night,

I secretly learned it aside.

I was immersed in learning

that I overlooked the time.

Yandan.

Be the bigger person.

Please forgive me.

I'm

a broad-minded person.

I don't mind it.

What about Little Tortoise?

The Dragon King of the East Sea has an old illness.

Whenever he goes to Heavenly Court,

he'll fetch some divine medicine.

His immortal jar is full of divine medicine.

We can find a chance

to put the tortoise into the immortal jar.

Then he can take it down to the Mortal Realm.

Okay.

That's settled then.

We'll release Little Tortoise tomorrow.

Remember to show up by then.

You may go on and chat.

I have something else to do.

Why don't you tell her the truth?

I think once I say it,

maybe we can't even be friends.

Right?

Why don't you have the initiative?

Soldiers who don't want to be generals aren't good soldiers.

Friends who don't want to be husband and wife...

What are you talking about?

Don't talk nonsense.

I just want to protect her all my life.

I don't want my feelings to be her trouble.

I'm contented as long as

she lives a happy life.

(Flame of Wuwang.)

(Most poisonous.)

(One who's poisoned is either dead or possessed.)

(No cure.)

(His injury...)

(will really kill him.)

I've obtained another unsolved weiqi game lately.

Come on.

See if you can solve it.

Yingyuan.

The troops are going to be led by you personally.

The Divine Realm will return triumphantly.

I can rest assured.

Take care.

Wait for a little longer.

Soon

we can get together.

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.

Wake up.

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.

Didn't I ask you not to come again?

I didn't want to.

But I had a nightmare last night.

I dreamed that you became a ghost to take my life.

I thought that

if I didn't come here to solve this matter,

I'd have nightmares for the rest of my life.

There are no ghosts in the Three Realms.

Don't talk nonsense here.

You haven't seen a ghost.

It doesn't mean there is no ghost.

Who should I turn to

if you really become a ghost one day?

Did you have a good dream?

A dream of your beloved girl?

What are you talking about?

You...

This is the osmanthus cake freshly made by the Heavenly Kitchen.

It's delicious.

(Why does this immortal attendant)

(have the fragrance of lotus?)

(Could she be Yandan?)

What's wrong?

Don't you like it?

It seems that the cook of the Heavenly Kitchen should be changed.

(Her tone and voice)

(are all like Yandan.)

(It must be her.)

(But now I'm in this situation.)

(I can't ask)

(or keep her.)

How on earth can you leave?

If you mess around like this again,

I'll take your life first

if I become a fierce ghost.

Didn't you say there are no ghosts in the Three Realms?

The talk of ghosts is just nonsense.

But it's all caused by anxiety.

You look so depressed.

I'm really worried.

How about this?

I'll bring a pillow to accompany you

in the Land Under the Horizon.

So I can feel at ease.

I guess I won't have nightmares then.

(She's as rascally as usual.)

(The poison will burst out at any time.)

(How can I protect you?)

If you're really worried,

I'll give you something.

Hold out your hand.

It's Distance-Keeping lock I created.

When there's danger,

it'll break.

Then you can feel at ease.

I know

you gave me this bracelet

because you might hurt me

when the fire poison bursts out.

It's to stop you from approaching me, right?

But the bracelet can prevent people,

but not ghosts.

How can you be such a rascal?

Do you think I dare not lay hands on you?

Don't worry.

I won't be hurt.

I brought a dagger to protect myself.

If you dare to approach me, I'll...

Anyway,

I've made up my mind.

I must take care of you

to make me feel at ease.

Even if you are Demon King Xuanxiang,

I'm not afraid.

Xuanxiang.

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.

No.

(Maybe it can delay the poison to come into effect.)

Yandan.

Look.

This should be the medicine jar

given by the Heavenly Court to the East Sea.

It's great.

Little Tortoise.

Your wish is coming true.

No one will turn you over when you're in the Mortal Realm.

We saved your life today.

You have to remember us.

I'll miss you.

Come on.

It's written in black and white on the medical book

that the Flame of Wuwang can only be cured by the heart of the Four-Leaf Lotus.

Why do we have to find another way?

Now all the lotus flowers in the Jade Pool have been picked off.

So much pollen has been ground.

It still doesn't work.

The method of taking the heart to save people is extremely dangerous.

The one who gouges out the heart will be in grave agony

and the immortal power will be greatly reduced.

Should there be any mistake,

even the primordial spirit will be destroyed.

The immortal life will be lost for nothing.

His Majesty is merciful

so he rejected this method earlier.

But now,

there's nothing we can do.

(The heart of the Four-Leaf Lotus?)

(My heart)

(can save him.)

You cut me off with the isolation spell.

But sound can't be isolated.

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.

You've locked yourself up at the Land Under the Horizon for so long.

Has it been a long time that you

last heard anything from the outside world?

Would you like me to tell you?

Do you want to hear about military affairs,

politics,

or gossip?

I know.

It must be gossip, right?

What a coincidence.

There happens to be a new one.

A few days ago,

a pair of divine officials who were secretly in love

were found out.

They jumped off the Bridge of Emptiness

so they wouldn't have to separate again.

The divine law

is really old-fashioned and stiff.

A pair of lovers had to die because of it.

Jumping off the bridge without permission

is a severe violation of the Heavenly Rules.

Those who jump will fall out of the Three Realms.

Their immortal spirits will be ruined.

They will not necessarily die,

but the survivors can't be immortal anymore.

They can only forget the past,

turn into mortals,

and go through all the hardships in the Mortal Realm.

That's to say,

even if they don't die, they'll be greatly hurt.

If an immortal attendant with low spiritual power

like me jumps off the bridge,

I'll turn into ashes.

Don't talk nonsense.

If you abide by the Heavenly Rules

and never fall in love,

it'll never happen.

Well.

You Greater Gods

being so old-fashioned,

how can you lead the Nine Heavens to improve?

What is it?

No way.

I simply teased you for a bit, Your Majesty.

Why did you scare me with all this?

What is this all about?

Don't chase me!

It's the ghosts of the Asura.

After the Genesis War,

they've been sealed here for 10,000 years.

What did you do to them?

Get out!

I wanted to dig a tunnel to deliver medicine to you.

Who knows this seal can be so weak?

Here it comes again.

Who's so unlucky?

The day when my Soul Ripping Sword reappears in broad daylight again

is that person's death day.

Xuanye, the Lord of Asura Clan, messed around in the Six Realms

and therefore, was killed.

You were the wraith of his sword

and were sealed here.

You also commit the crime of slaughter.

Behave yourself.

I only listen to the host

and never bow to others

unless the sword is broken and my soul is banished.

You're seriously injured.

I guess you can't beat him.

I'll ask the heavenly soldiers for help.

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.

What's wrong with you, Sovereign Lord Yingyuan?

The blood...

You're...

You're a descendant of our Asura Clan.

Why are you hiding in the Heavenly Realm?

You go along with the immortals

and harm our clan.

Don't you feel ashamed?

(Yingyuan was born to be an immortal)

(and practiced to become a Sovereign Lord in the Heavenly Realm.)

(How could he be one of the Asura Clan?)

The people of the Asura Clan killed the innocent

and their sins are unforgivable.

They must be gotten rid of

to comfort the common people.

This girl knows your identity as an Asura.

Yet, you still want to keep her alive.

Being born as an Asura is my sin.

I won't get others involved.

You are getting into such a situation,

but you're still being stubborn.

You bear the sin of taking away

thousands of lives in the Genesis War

so you're full of anger and violence.

You should be convicted of this.

Heaven and Earth are changeable.

The good and the evil take turns.

I've had enough sleep.

I, the wraith of the Soul Ripping Sword,

will break away

from the old owner

and submit myself to you today.

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.

Are you all right?

I'm all right.

I'm dying anyway.

I can just die with this sword.

There will be no more trouble from the Asura Clan in this world.

Just now, the sword wraith said

you're a descendant of the Asura Clan which perished in the Genesis War.

Is that true?

Do you know your identity?

It's not what you should ask.

(I didn't expect a Sovereign Lord)

(can have such a tragic past.)

(He must have blamed himself for his background.)

(That's why he's so humble to sticks to rules.)

What...

What's wrong with the sacred tree?

Why are so many leaves falling?

The sacred tree will wither in five days.

You can't stay here for long.

Leave now.

How can I leave you behind?

Go!

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan!

Sovereign Lord Yingyuan.

Oh, no.

The poison is coming into effect again.
