welcome to another video guys today's

video i have a 2014 cadillac srx

and we're going to be repairing the

touch screen here as you can see um

it's got that weird crack looking

on the face there so we're going to be

replacing it with the new screen we got

from amazon

go ahead and stay tuned

so before we get started this is what

you get um from amazon

i believe this screen is about a hundred

and thirty dollars

and so you get the actual screen here

uh it's got that electrical connector

there on the back

and this is pretty cool comes with the

tools here

to help you uh

remove it

looks like that's it so

um gonna go ahead and jump inside and

then we'll

go ahead and take it apart and

see how this works

all right real quick so

to take this piece off um

which is a pizza you have to take both

of these off to start getting this off

you have this covers here on the side

here of the seat

on the console i guess

and so

you know you can remove your seat

both of your seats and

pull this panel off

or you can just you know get your your

tools here and pull it out it's got a

one of those push pins in there

and it gives you enough room to loosen

up the two screws here so we have one

screw there on the front which is that

one you just have to loosen and then the

one here on the back you do have to take

all the way out

because as you can see this part

that one is open and then this one is

closed then so uh once you take that off

then you're able to

you know pull this out and then just

pull it up

so i'm going to do the same thing on the

other side here uh you know take the

little screws off and then pull that

piece off um it looks like a seven

millimeter is the size that you'll need

for that

um

with the

ratchet i was able to get to this one an

angle

this back one it's easier with the

wrench so that's why i'm using the

wrench here so

um

i'm gonna go ahead and get the other

side taken off and then we'll go from

there

all right so once you take both of these

size off

you take this little piece off

and as you can see this just has uh

they're not even like metal pins

excuse me it's just plastic

little hooks here

so just be careful um use your tool

again and just

push in gently and then um it's gonna

pull backwards and then you pull it up

the bottom just kind of pushes in there

so

we'll put that aside

now what we're going to do is as you can

see here

there's the two screws here

on the bottom

we're going to take both of those off

and then we should be able to pull this

trim

out

to get to our screen piece so let's go

ahead and get that going

all right so once we pop the trim off

you see the four screws here

on the four corners

you take those off

and you're gonna pull it a little bit

backwards and you have your three

connectors here on the back so

um you know one up here one up here that

pushes and then this one has the two

tabs that you have to spread

um this one i just had a little trouble

i had to tilt this so i can see the

bottom one so i can push it apart and

then it just pulls out so

once you do that then your whole unit

here is gonna come out

we're gonna go take it to the bench and

then switch out the screen

all right let me catch you guys up so

you saw um

i removed the side pieces

off the back and then the whole shroud

um

so you have the six bigger screws for

the side pieces and then you have this

really fine thread screws to hold on

this whole back shroud

to the back of this

and you also have five that are a little

bit smaller head

here on the top so you take that off

and then what i did do is go ahead and

go back to the car plug it in just so i

can open this compartment hatch here

and i went ahead and removed

pretty much that storage piece that goes

on the bottom

and so for that one you have the

screw in there

another two here

um you have the two here on the front

and one in the middle

once you remove those just uh there's

little tabs that kind of hold it in

place and then disconnect this little

wire off of that

and it just comes right off so we're

here on this spot

um the reason i had to make this open

and remove that bottom piece is

that way as you can see

now i have access to there's a bolt here

on the bottom that i have to remove for

that screen there's one right in there

and on the other side

the other

piece too is

the connector so that connector for the

screen is right in here

so you have to be able to reach it that

way you can you know unplug it plug that

knee back in so

um so at this point i'm gonna go ahead

and start

taking the screws off

so that way we can remove that screen

all right so once you put everything

back together

um just work backwards

you know put all the the screws on the

screen

make sure that you plug in that little

cable there

um push it all the way in from what i

was running the uh

piece here this instructions it just

says that's the most common failure

where you know you don't push this

pissing all the way

or not a failure but why it doesn't work

so

if it doesn't work then i'll take it all

apart and make sure that's all the way

in but i made sure to push it as much as

i could um you know as you can see it's

all back together now i'm keeping this

plastic piece like put it all the way in

the car so i don't scratch it but

you know i have towels here that way

nothing

gets scratched so

um

i'm gonna go ahead and put these last

pieces on the back here with the six

screws

and then i'm gonna take it back in the

car plug it in

you know turn the car on just to make

sure it works before i put all the dash

pieces together so let me finish this up

and then we'll get back in there

alrighty so

we're back in here

i'm going to go ahead and

plug in all the plugs here

all right so

it's so plugged in

all right so let's turn the car on here

there we go

so the screen lights up

um

moment of truth so i know when i picked

it up i couldn't touch

anything well it looks like it works

i have no idea how to work this uh so

you know i'm not

the best person here to uh

you know uh

play with this sorry about the rear

wiper was on so um but it looks like it

is working so

um from what i can see here you know i

can touch

different things in here and it goes

to

what i needed to go to so

that's the main thing

you know there's radio

um

cool

all right so that's that's really what

matters it's working um i did

finish filling this up which i'm just

going to leave it off at this point i'll

try not to

scratch anything

i'll go ahead and turn the vehicle off

but

at this point

we know that it works

it looks good i'm gonna go ahead and

put the four screws back in here

and work my way backwards so i'll put

these four screws here

put this piece back in there make sure

it's clipped you know all the way around

put the two screws at the bottom

and put the trim pieces here on the

bottom so

um

let me get to that and then we'll

you know show you here the end product

once it's all put together

everything working good

you know it

works on your command

you can actually touch it i don't know

what else maybe heater yep you can use

all these controls so

um

pretty cool

not too bad um you know it's a really

good price

getting it from amazon i believe the

dealer

charges you a lot more so

um
