So you've kept your promise

Why the three of you

want to meet me here?

Why did you kill our fourth brother?

That's strange

Your fourth brother asked me to have a duel

And I could only be defeated and can't win, right?

But you didn't have to kill him

Well, if I just injured him...

then you would blame me for insulting

the name of Four Swords of Zhongzhou

Ding Menghao, you can't just hurt others

with your sword because you have good skills

Do you think you can keep the title

"Fastest Sword" forever?

Are you jealous of me

or my prowess with the sword?

Well, let's find this out

Excellent skills

It's good, but not refined enough

Old man, what are you saying?

You have a grudge with them?

It's none of your business

Rumour has it that you're a ruthless killer

Now I know it is true

I admire your sword skills

But you don't really deserve the title

'The Fastest Sword' yet

So you're not convinced?

Wait, wait

I don't mind having a duel with you

Let's however make things clear

before we have a duel

Sure, tell me

What if you were defeated?

Is it possible?

Even I know it's impossible

I mean, just in case you were

Rubbish

If I were defeated you would kill me for sure

You are not satisfied with it?

So you want to cut me dead

piece by piece?

No, I am not like you

I don't like killing people

So what do you want?

Simply speak it out

Okay

If you were defeated by my smoking pipe

You'd have to stay with me for three years

And do whatever I tell you to do

Then I've a change of mind too

You also have to stay with me for three years

You'll be my servant and carry my belongings

I am an eighty-year-old man

Don't you think I'm a bit old to be your servant?

Well, I like that

Alright, so it is a deal

Okay, come on

Wait, no need to fight anymore

Take a look at your chest

So you come with me now

Hey, hey

Master, master

Old guy!

You forgot our deal?

If I did I'd be gone long time ago

Then keep sitting here quietly

Master, if you want to torture me

please find another way to do it, okay?

I've been sitting here for half a year

I've almost got a back pain

Then what do you want to do?

Anything

Only if I could stretch my hands and legs

Okay, I'll let you do something else

Copy all the scriptures in this room

then paste the copies one by one

and wind them around this wheel

Come down to see me after you've finished

All of them?

What? Don't want to do it?

Then come and meditate with me. Let's go

Okay, okay, I'll do it

Master

What? Finished?

So fast?

Go take a look upstairs.

Okay

Really fast

This is a smart way

But do you know that

you don't have callus on your fingers

and your eyes look empty

They're just like this roll of white paper

Looks nice but it's nothing inside

I'll be blind if I keep copying

Sometimes you can see more clearly

with your mind, not your eyes, right?

Master, I'm not that type of person

You would waste your effort

So what type of a person are you?

I'm just nothing

Now you're starting to know what humility is

Okay, okay

Cut the crap

Just let me collect dirt, or cut firewood

I don't care if it is tough work

I'm lost if I don't have a tool in my hand

Fine, follow me

What is this for?

See that big rock?

Want me to knock it into pieces?

No, you have to make something out of it

What?

Whatever you want

Just make it into something you like

Now I'll go downhill

I'll be back six months later

Very good skill

Master

You've been working hard

What do you think?

It's very good, but...

What? You don't like it?

Not really, it's just a bit too big

Besides, don't you think it isn't very appropriate

to put a Buddha in front of the door?

Well, make some changes

I have to leave here now

See you six months later

Master, you are back

Not bad, you have improved

But...

Too big again?

Make it smaller

You've made me change the size again and again

What's the hurry?

We still have another half year

Alright, you can leave now

I'm sure you'll be satisfied this time

Excellent, what a beautiful statue

So this is what you want?

That's right

Then why didn't you tell me early?

I've been spending years in stone carving

So you think it's not worth it?

If you took stone carving as a profession

you would be a famous craftsman

Master, thanks for your teaching

Can I leave now?

What's the hurry?

I have one more thing to tell you

What's that?

If you want to live

You have to die once

I don't quite understand this

You will. Now leave

Goodbye

"Chu's Drill Ground"

You're defeated, why keep fighting?

Brother Ding, another one died?

Master

He's been here for less than three months

And more than a dozen people

were killed by his sword

There will be more in the future

Master, may I ask...

You are?

I've heard that the Fastest Sword, Ding Menghao,

is in this place

Why are you looking for him?

To have a duel

A duel? Don't you see this man

has just been killed by his sword?

Cut the crap. Where's he now?

Go for a drink in the inn

What do you want?

Sir, please go upstairs

Boss, someone is looking for him

Let's hide our stuff

What do you want from me?

So are you Ding Menghao,

the Southern Sword who is regarded by everyone

as the Fastest Sword?

Yes, I am, and you are?

Bi Zhengwan from Golden Sword Clan

I'm here only to meet you

Sit down and let's have a drink together

You haven't answered me yet

There's no enmity between you and me

That's for sure

I just come to have a duel with you

If I won the duel

I would be the Fastest Sword in the world

I really don't deserve such a title

Go and look for Qiu Yixing, the Northern Sword

Qiu Yixing the Northern Sword? He's nothing

I won't have a duel with you

Am I not qualified?

How old are you?

Eighteen. Why? It has nothing to do with a duel

Of course it does

Weapons are ruthless

If I were defeated, it's not a shame

But you are still young, you have a future

Don't preach. Draw your sword

So you really refuse me?

Let's have a duel now

I'll pay later

I'm sure you will have a duel with me

Stop, Master Ding

Don't blame me if you still keep refusing

I've told you I don't want to fight with you

So what do you want?

Let me tell you

I want these words: The Fastest Sword

You've made a mistake. I am not

This kid is only here to meet his death

Brother Ding

Master

Honestly, since you came to our village

there's no peace here

So the seniors suggested

you should go somewhere else

lt...

I understand

It's all because I'm bearing an illusory title

He died too young

Actually I didn't intend to kill him

Nor anyone else for that matter

We've gathered some money for you

I'll leave now. Master, thank you

Master

Anything I can help you with?

I am looking for someone

Are you looking for Ding Menghao, to have a duel?

Yes, I'm looking for him

But I am his friend

He has left

Left?

It's been several days. Goodbye

"Qing Feng Fortress"

Hello, everybody...

Boss, you're back

Stop calling me boss

Brother Zhang

Everyone here calls me Liu Da Fu

You can just call me Brother Liu

Yes, Brother Liu

When are you going to finish the Guanyin statue?

Day after tomorrow

It's okay, take your time

Give this to me

Waiter

Yes, sir

Do you want a room or?

I want a room

Alright, we have nice rooms here, please

Go get something to eat first

I'm going to ask Master Liu a favour

Wang Sang, you're too kind

Just a little gift

I want to ask you a favour

Please let me set up a vendor booth in your village

That's no problem

Liu Dong, take the gifts inside

And give him a silver nugget

No need

I should be very grateful to have your permission

to set up a vendor booth

We are friends. Take it

Okay, if you insist

Thank you very much.

Goodbye

I have to go, goodbye

Liu Dong, what did you say just then?

You know that stone carving shop in our village?

You mean Da Fu? How's he doing?

Da Fu's shop has a new mason recently

Very good skill, but a bit strange

He seldom utters a word

and never leaves the shop

When he came to our village

Someone saw him with a very good sword

Do you think he might be?

Dad, do you want me to check?

This is not a girl's business

Well, you go and check his background

Find out where he is from

Brother Zhang, come have a drink

Take a break first

Okay

Brother Da Fu, let's have a drink

You've been here for almost a month

There's something I always want to ask you

What is it?

Is Zhang Xin your real name?

Brother Liu, Zhang Xin is my name for sure

You carry on, I've to get back to my work

From whom did you learn this skill?

I was kind of forced to practice this skill

Seems that you always have something on your mind

Something on my mind?

No, nothing like that

You are a bit strange

You don't go out, and you don't talk

That's my nature, one's own personality

You know how to use a sword?

Not really, I just like swords

Brother Liu, are you suspecting me?

No, no... just asking

Who is it?

It's the bandits

Brother, hurry. Find a place to hide

You dare rob our village

Who are you?

Old man, you will know sooner or later

Where are you going?

Hey, are you deaf?

Let's go

Let's go, hurry...

I don't understand

I've never been ungrateful to anyone

But someone has come to rob our village

Nothing like this happened

to our village in the past

Everyone is talking about a strange thing now

What is it?

I heard that

every house in our village was robbed

Except Da Fu's stone carving shop...

You mean Da Fu is somehow related to the robbery?

What he means is not Da Fu

Then who?

Zhang Xin, the mason who works for Da Fu

That guy?

It's said that when the robbers got in Da Fu's shop

they left immediately on seeing Zhang Xin

Is that so?

Don't you see that Da Fu's shop is still in shape?

You mean Zhang Xin scared them away?

You can ask Da Fu

He saw this with his own eyes

And there's something more strange

When the robbers came in

Da Fu was hiding inside the room and scared to death

But Zhang Xin was very calm

He kept doing his work

Don't you think this is strange?

This guy may have a connection with the robbers

If he doesn't, he must have a background

Or he must be a spy

Brother, you...

Brother Liu, I'm leaving

Leaving? Because of the rumours in the village?

Everyone says I've a connection with the robbers

Do you think I can stay here anymore?

Brother Liu, the unfinished statue

please finish it for me

So I can't stop you

I'm leaving

Wait

Are you Zhang Xin?

Yes

Sir, how may I help?

Our master wants to see you

He wants to see me?

Oh yes, there's something I need you to do for me

What is it?

I've heard that you have very good skills

And our ancestral temple needs a stone altar

I wonder if...

I'd do whatever you want me to do

But it's just that I'm going to leave this place

You're leaving?

Why?

Is it because of the rumours?

If this is the reason

then you should stay here

Leaving just like that would mean

that you do admit

you have something to do with this robbery

I think you should continue staying here for some time

And we will find out the truth in due course

Well, if there's nothing else

then I better get going

Okay

There's something specially inspiring about Zhang Xin

I'm sure he's not an ordinary guy

Sooner or later we'll find out what he is

Chief Zhong, well done

Thanks

Let's smash his power and prestige first

Then I'll go take my revenge

But that night in the village

We saw a person who looked like Ding Menghao

What?

The Southern Sword who went missing years ago?

No, it couldn't be him. If that was him

you wouldn't come back alive

I am not sure either

But that's also possible

If that's him

Then this will be my luck

to end my long and tough search

Are you looking for him?

You think I'm not qualified for this?

Miss Liu

I just want to take a look at your sword

It's no different to the other blades

Since you do have a sword

That night why didn't you...

It's a shame to tell the truth

but I don't know how to use a sword

I just hang it here for fun

Tell me, who are you?

Miss Liu, what do you mean?

At last I hit upon a way to test your skills

If you were an ordinary person

you couldn't enter the room without making any noise

Tell me, who are you?

If you don't speak, don't blame me

Since you're here to test my skills

then let me tell you the truth

I have enemies after me

So I came to hide in your village

So you're a swordsman?

Not really

I'm just a wanderer

If your enemies are after you

You can't just hide away

The bandits are coming...

Bandits

What's the matter?

Over here

He's the one in the martial arts school of Ma village

Let's go take a look

Even if he's hiding in hell

we have to find him out

What? Here again?

Those several guys are coming fiercely

They may be at the village now

Okay, let's go take a look

So you are here

You are...

Don't you remember?

Last month in the martial arts school of Ma village

Chief Bi

I didn't want to kill your son then

It's because of...

Of what?

My friend

You are...

I am Liu Changfeng

So you are the Xinfeng Swordsman!

That's correct

And you must be Chief Bi of the Golden Sword Clan

I am

Chief, what brings you to our small village?

I've come looking for that guy

You two have enmity?

He killed my son

I'll wait for you outside the village

If you don't show up in two hours

Brother Liu

Then I will come and ask you for this guy

Let's go

Zhang Xin, this time

we can't offer much help

You killed his son

So you have to be responsible for this

Don't worry, I won't get you into trouble

Let's go home.

Dad

Let's go

I did say that guy is really something

Now his enemy is here for him

Where?

Over there

Maybe those who robbed our village last time

actually came for him

He is here

Sir

Waiter

Who is that guy?

The mason of the stone carving shop

His enemy is coming for him

He won't come back alive

Please come inside. I'll take care of the horse

Kid, come on

Chief Bi, even that day

I didn't have any say in the matter

Draw your sword

After that unfortunate incident when your son died

I swore never again to draw my sword

I don't care

I just want revenge for my son. Let's fight

Let's see how long can you tolerate

Dad, if Zhang Xin...

It's none of your concern, dear

You're sending him to his death

The Golden Sword Clan rather not be our foes

And moreover this is his personal matter

We don't have to...

Dad, we can't just let him die, right?

Take out your sword. You're dead

Chief, please forgive me

Then don't blame me

Okay, if you don't wish to use the sword anymore

Then let me chop off your right arm

Chief Bi, stop it

You've been bullying him enough

Leave with your men

Who are you?

You don't need to ask

And you are not qualified to know

Get him

Wait, please don't

All of you, attack

Come on, my arm is itching

Pal, I simply can not tolerate this kind of thing

Brother, thanks for your help

Don't mention it. What's your name?

My name is Zhang Xin

How about you?

I am Qiu Yixing

The Northern Sword?

Yes, I'm Qiu Yixing the Northern Sword

Are you hurt?

No

Brother Zhang, I have to go now

Are you alright?

I'm okay. Thank you, Miss

You killed them all?

No, I don't have such skill

It's that person

Who is he?

He's a top swordsman

I am really fortunate

to witness his fantastic swordplay

I've been worrying about you

Let's go home

He comes back alive, what a surprise!

What do you know?!

The word is he knelt down and kowtowed

to keep his life

Otherwise he would be slain

Don't slander people

Brother Zhang just didn't want to fight

Da Fu, stop boasting

He was beaten up and didn't want to fight back

I don't think this is the case

Pal, what's your name?

I'm Da Fu. Bring him a bowl and a pair of chopsticks

Coming

Da Fu, how long have you been in this village?

Since I was born

Do you know a person named Ding Menghao

who lives in this village?

Ding Menghao? No

How long has he been here?

About a month

We seldom have strangers here, except Zhang Xin

This Ding Menghao... would he be a mason?

A mason?

Probably, he may have taken up a new profession

Brother Qiu

It's you

Still staying here?

I have things to do. Are you busy now?

Not really

In that case

let's go and have a drink

I...

What? Don't want to give me some face?

Okay

Please

Please

Brother Qiu, what brings you here?

I am looking for a friend

Have you found him yet?

I've found him

But he doesn't want to see me

Brother Zhang, I have something to ask you

Brother Qiu, go ahead

I just want to ask

Do you treat me as a friend?

Of course

I haven't had a chance to repay your kindness

Then I want to ask you

Are you Ding Menghao?

So you are?

Brother Qiu, you...

Ding Menghao, I am looking for you

I'm so careless, I almost missed you

Brother Qiu, did I offend you in the past?

No

Then why are you looking for me?

I want to have a duel with you.

A duel?

Yes, we are called Southern and Northern Swords

No two tigers can live on one mountain

So it means there can't be two top swordsmen

in this world

We have to find out who is number one

Brother Qiu

At least find out who is the true Fastest Sword

Brother Qiu, my skill is not better than yours

You're indeed the top most swordsman in the world

We will find out who is the Fastest Sword

after the duel, how's that?

I can't accept this

Don't you treat me as a friend?

Being friends is one thing

Having a duel is another

But I have sworn I'd never use a sword

I know of your determination

But you'll change your mind in three days

I sure hope not. Goodbye

I tell you

What's the matter?

Close the shop as soon as possible

Why?

Just do it

Mr. Liu, what happened?

Master Liu's enemy Flying Centipede

wants to have a duel with him outside the village

Otherwise he will kill everyone in our village

So it was them who robbed the village last time

You better leave here now

Be careful. I have to go

Brother Ding

I think you have to use your sword again

Flying Centipede is not an easy guy

Liu, do you still remember me?

You must be surprised that I'm still alive?

Yes, I am really surprised

You wanted to kill me ten years ago

Because you had cruelly killed many people

And I just want to do a favour to the martial world

Cut the crap

You are going to die, don't you know that?

If you want to have revenge on me

why then did you kill my village folk before?

Just to let you see how powerful I am

Liu, show your blade

Let me kill him

You can't escape from me

Fight

Kid, you want to die?

Flying Centipede, leave with your men

So you are that guy named Ding?

What are you doing here?

I want to prove my innocence. The robbers...

I know you have nothing to do with them. Leave now

Come on, let's see how good you are

Get away

Let's go...

Wait

Who are you really?

He is the famous Southern Sword, Ding Menghao

Well, Ding Menghao

The other day you lied that you're pursued by enemy

and sought shelter in our village

Miss Liu, I...

Stop it, I hate people lying to me

Brother Ding, we should have a duel now

Who are you?

I am Qiu Yixing

The Northern Sword?

We have two famous heroes in our village

Please forgive my ignorance

If we didn't have Brother Ding here to help

My village and I would be...

The Southern Sword is here, you shouldn't be afraid

Brother Ding, let's have a fight

A fight?

I want to have a duel with him

A duel?

When two tigers fight, one is bound to be hurt

So why insist on this?

I want to have a duel with him to find out

who is the top most swordsman in the world

Otherwise my life will be meaningless

Brother Ding

Brother Qiu

I've decided never to have a duel with other people

Are you afraid of death?

Coward

Fine

I'll figure out another way to make you have a duel

See you

Brother Liu

That Qiu fellow was here a while back

He destroyed everything with his sword

This is too much

Brother, what is this all about?

I thought you guys are friends! How come...

Brother Liu, it's all my fault

Mr. Ding, something happened

What's the matter?

Our miss is kidnapped

Really?

That's true

It must be him

Qiu Yixing, you are despicable

Don't get angry, if you promise to have a duel

I'll pay for everything I've broken

Why kidnap Miss Liu?

Miss Liu has been kidnapped?

Don't play dumb

Brother Ding, I dare not claim

I am a man of integrity

But at least I won't harm a woman

It must be him

Who?

I know who'd have kidnapped Miss Liu

I can tell you, no problem

But you must have a duel with me

Okay, tell me

Then let's go

It's him

Mr. Ding, I knew you would come

You kidnapped Miss Liu?

Right

Why?

Mr. Ding

You've killed my younger brother a month ago

The Black Snake Swordsman

He had very good sword skills. Only the

Southern and Northern Swords are better than him

And there was no way the Northern Sword

could come to the south at that time

So it must be you who killed my brother

I didn't kill your brother

You're still denying

Wait, White Snake, you've got the wrong guy

I killed your brother

I'm Qiu Yixing, the Northern Sword

I've killed Black Snake on the road

Retrieve your sword

Where's Miss Liu?

In the temple

But if I died, she'll die too

I've fed her some poison

It's not a new trick

Get up

What?

I want you to die in peace

He must be carrying the antidote

I'm going to the temple now

Qing Er...

Give her the antidote now

Brother Ding, we've found Miss Liu

And the matter you've promised me

Now?

Bullshit

Listen!

Enough

I'll be waiting here for you tomorrow

He's coming

Don't go inside

One of us will come out at last

So you've come eventually

Brother Ding, I want to learn from you

Brother Qiu, since we are friends

You've promised me yesterday

Right

But why are you so persistent about the duel?

It's all about finding out who is the best

This is the only wish in my life

Draw your sword

Brother Qiu, I haven't practiced for a long time

I admit defeat

Ding Menghao

You say so when your sword is still in the sheath

Are you trying to insult me?

No, I speak from my heart

Brother Qiu, don't take me wrong

Take you wrong?

You have to use your sword today

Watch out

You have to use your sword this time

Brother Qiu, do we still have to fight?

Quit beating around the bush, now out with your sword

No, I've lost already

No, your sword is still in the sheath. I didn't win

So you have to see my sword?

I've heard that your sword

is a rare treasure

Okay, I'll let you have a look

A broken sword

Brother Qiu, this is the proof of my determination

Then my sword can't be longer than yours

Okay, we should start now

It's still too big

Ding Menghao, wherever you go

You can't escape today

Make it smaller

What should we do?

Let us do it

Old sir, is there a person named Ding Menghao

living in your village?

Why are you looking for him?

To have a duel

A duel?

He's already dead

He died?

Yesterday he had a duel with the Northern Sword

They both died

See, that's their funeral

Guess I'm a little late

"The grave of Ding Menghao and Qiu Yixing"

I'm truly grateful for your father's wonderful idea

It's the unanimous decision of all the villagers here

They all want you to stay

The other people will thus think

that you died together with the Northern Sword

And no one will again seek you to have a duel

"The grave of Ding Menghao"
