THE LITTLE PRINCESS

England 1899

''It's war! The army leaves for the Transvaal.

Why do they send so many soldiers for such a small war?

The war against the Boers takes an unfortunate turn.

They will realize their mistake when we defeat them.

They would do better.

Anyway, when you get there, will you stop the war?

I will miss you so much.

I'll be back in no time.

This is going to sound very Iong to me.

But you will have friends and you can ride, ride your pony...

I'll be back, you know.

And then my doll will be there to understand me, don't you think?

I'm sure.

This school does not seem very cheerful, dad.

I'm afraid that at this moment, nothing is very cheerful.

Maybe it will be better inside.

Surely.

It's ridiculous to bring such a thing here!

Oh daddy, my pony!

- Take that thing away! - Yes, away from here.

Oh no, dad!

Wait !

Just a moment!

Are you MIe Minchin?

Yes.

Captain Crewe. I have the impression to cause you some probIems!

You did well.

May I come in and explain myself?

Come in.

Wait here with the pony.

I'm confused, I didn't asked to be brought inside.

It's not just the pony...

we have already brought a whole bunch things belonging to your daughter.

Please follow me.

Apparently you are not aware of the fact that

I run one of the schools more worthy and reputable in London.

This is one of the reasons why I brought my daughter here.

In any case, I don't congratulate you.

I am not to be pitied.

Sarah and I are coming just from India.

EIIe lived there almost all his life.

Then I learned that my regiment went to South Africa,

and I brought her to you.

But I wrote to you that I didn't take young girls

without maintenance and without references.

I also told you that I didn't have a free room.

In this case, dad, we have to find something else.

It's boring.

I did not receive your letter,

and I never would have thought that you would refuse my Sarah.

This is however the case.

If it's a question of social status,

know that my father was George Crewe.

Sure.

And the financial references that i can give you

relate to my actions within my cooperative in South Africa.

I am the main shareholder.

My brother. I intend him for the dramatic art.

- How are you? - Delighted.

CIeeps Diamond Mine does it not belong to you?

It is even the most important.

I understand that my arrival is unexpected,

but the situation is difficult, and I have to leave in an hour.

I hope you're going take me with you.

So let's see, what would a little girl like you in Africa.

Excuse me, I was a little rude

but the reputation of my school is important.

But everything is settled.

What an adorable child! It will be a pleasure to have him with us!

So, do I have to stay?

Yes honey. You will have this privilege,

you and your little pony.

What a charming little pony!

Here's to the boarding house. Will that be enough for now?

- Perfect ! - It's even too much.

Excuse me, but don't you haven't I already seen?

It is possible!

Your face is familiar to me. Have you ever done the stage?

I associate you with Music HaII.

Music Hai? My brother on stage! Ridiculous!

Ridiculous indeed!

And now I will show her little one's room!

One minute, Miss Rose.

This is MIIe Rose, one of our best teachers.

Captain Crewe tells us his granddaughter Sarah.

- Delighted. - Pleased captain.

We will do our best to make your daughter happy.

I'm sure.

Children we have a little news,

Sarah Crewe. Say hello to him!

How are you?

Very well thank you.

Come on, that's enough!

You can go, Miss Rose.

Children.

She looks like a little princess.

That's what she is, a princess.

It will make all those think who think they are chic.

Oh really !

Let's wait and see !

A princess, for sure!

Fortunately, The room has just been redone,

and the fireplace works very well.

I thought you didn't have of room ?

I didn't know that a adorable girl was coming.

Why did they redo my room?

Here is the room, it is pleasant, isn't it?

It's a bit dark.

Do you think we can brighten it up a bit?

I brought back a few small things from India, but

buy him everything so she will need.

With pleasure, Captain Crewe.

And so she can ride her pony whenever time permits.

We have a very good riding instructor.

I expect you to Iui exercise.

He needs it.

It's good for her.

EIIe tends too much to shut oneself up in books.

You see...

Sarah no longer has a mother,

and we have never been separated for a long time.

How sad.

It's going to be hard for her.

Fear nothing.

I am a mother for all my granddaughters.

Now I let you do it your farewells.

How much time do we have left?

A few minutes, darling.

You will teach me by heart, little Sarah.

I already know you by heart, you are in my heart.

We will be brave?

Do you remember...

when we were in India,

and that I was leaving with the regiment a few days?

We found this way to say goodbye to us.

You never cried.

- Do you remember? - Yes Dad.

This will be our hardest battle...

but we will be good soldiers.

Yes Dad.

We say goodbye like did we do at home?

Yes Dad.

Very well.

Turn around...

Go to the window and look outside.

Now say like you were doing:

''My daddy has to go,

but he will come back to me,

every time I think about it,

My dad will come back to me.

My dad has to go...

but he will come back...

Dad, I can't.

I can't !

You cry too.

We are not as good as solid as we thought!

But yes, we are!

I can do it now!

My dad has to go...

but he will come back to me...

every time I think about it, my dad will come back to me.

I will make it ! It's part of our war.

You will be my enemy and you my friend!

Ready...

In play...

Fire !

We must ask for reinforcements!

Hello.

MademoiseIIe speaks the Hindustani?

Mademoiselle will live in England now?

I'm waiting for my dad come back from the war.

Is he a soldier?

Yes, he is captain.

Captain Crewe. I am Sarah.

Your name ?

I am Ram Dass. Servant of Lord Wytham...

and Lady Randy.

Hurry to get it over with with this bird

and go back to your work.

Hello.

Delighted.

I'll be at the window almost every morning to talk about India.

Hello Sarah.

Hello.

Ready for breakfast?

Almost... I have a hard time tying these buttons.

I squeezed too hard.

Let me help you.

I never had a boutonniere before, but I will learn.

I am sure of it. Put on your shoes.

Come in.

Hello Becky.

Hello.

Does the young girl have shoes to shine?

I do not have ! I will look for them!

Oh sorry !

- Are you hurt? - No, Miss.

Don't be angry!

It's not a big deal.

- Can you take 2 more? - Yes, Miss.

There you go.

How are you ?

You take care of everything the shoes?

And it cleans them very well.

Thank you, Mademoiselle.

Thanks for my shoes.

Sorry.

It's nothing.

Bye Becky.

It's looking good with you and Becky here.

Let's hurry, MIIe Minchin don't like being late.

MIIe Minchin is also severe what does it look like?

What am I going to do today?

After breakfast, you will have a course in arithmetic.

Arithmetic!

Then, English and French, a diction lesson.

I will be very busy, is not it ?

Could I ride my pony?

This afternoon. Maybe at 4 o'clock.

Children, Sarah Crewe will come down soon.

As you noticed, the captain is a charming man,

and his very distinguished family.

I'm waiting for you irreproachable behavior.

Return to your places.

Hello.

Hello Sarah.

I am very happy that you are there. Slept well ?

No, I slept, thank you.

Come.

Lavinia, can you move of a place?

Sarah will be seated to my right.

Why MIIe Minchin? It's always been my place.

Lavinia!

''Father, thank you for this meal that you have granted us.''

Why do you put salt on your plate, darling?

In case you give me one of your eggs!

Mr. Goeffrey, should I tell the pony for the lesson?

No, we won't use it for the first lessons.

Hello my dear.

Hello Goeffrey.

How happy I am to see you!

Sarah, this is Mr. Goeffrey. Sarah Crewe is our student.

I will teach you to ride on horseback.

This means 2 shIIings plus for me.

2 shIIings represent a lot of money ?

Right now, it is a fortune for me.

Well, in this case, you had to teach me.

My pony is ready?

I think for this time, you should ride another one.

How am I going to explain this to my pony?

He will be disappointed.

You are right !

Ponies are animals very sensitive.

He's over there.

It's gonna take me some time.

It doesn't matter, we'll wait here.

Very well.

Sorry but Mr. Goeffrey go get me to ride another pony.

Rose, is something wrong?

MIIe Minchin will delete me my Thursday afternoons.

Why ?

We don't have to be seen together.

This means that we can no longer be alone?

But no, darling.

We'll manage.

I don't understand women.

What is she afraid of? Why can't you see us anymore?

She is afraid of the rumors that go around.

It's rather that she's afraid of losing an excellent teacher.

I'll talk to him!

Do not do that !

It would only make matters worse.

I may have a chance to leave in South Africa.

You would go ?

If you want it. They are asking for volunteers.

Of course honey. I must.

Don't worry. This war of the Boers is not serious.

We can talk a little more.

Is there one for the little princess?

We are going to see that my child.

If she does not receive any from her father, she will be sad.

There's one for her this time.

Oh it's good !

Do you have mail?

It is from my father.

This is bad news.

Really ?

My darling.

He says he can't be there for my birthday.

It's in a month. Until then, many things can change.

''I will write to MIIe Minchin to let her throw a party

''as I would have done.

''You have to have fun and do what you want

''and the most important my dear

''On your birthday, at 2 o'clock sharp,

close your eyes and send me a kiss,

for my eyes will also be closed.

''And I will send you too a kiss.''

ain't he the man the most marvelous in the world?

- There is an exception. - Mr. Goeffrey is very nice.

Who are MIIe Rose?

They are the volunteers.

Are they going South Africa ?

They will deliver our soldiers in Mafeking.

There are soldiers prisoners in Mafeking?

Most of the prisoners are there.

And we have to help them.

They are sick, hungry and desperate.

They are very brave soldiers.

My dad is in Mafeking.

Oh, honey, I'm sorry.

I did not know.

Honey, you mustn't cry. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Is Miss Sarah ready?

Yes, she will go down.

Are we all ready?

The two most beautiful women in the world !

You are not habiIIed In order to climb ?

I can't, I have things to do.

Will it take you all afternoon?

I'm afraid of it. I have to stay with eIIe.

It might be Iong.

I will tell you.

Let's go.

Did you cry?

There are still tears in your eyes.

It's just the fog of London.

So let's go.

Mr. Goeffrey, would you mind that I'm not riding today?

Not at all but can I ask why?

I would like to talk to you.

Very well.

It's about Mafeking.

Are the soldiers really hungry and sick?

You know my daddy is over there and I need to know.

It's not so terrible,

our men don't have an easy life, but they cling.

If we send them help every day,

Mafeking will soon be released.

My dad says it's harder and harder.

Don't worry. Listen, I have a secret to tell you.

I signed up today but Miss Rose does not know.

I will participate in the liberation soldiers.

Are you going to Mafeking? You may see my father!

We're gonna get him out of here.

What are you doing here ?

Answer! What are you doing there?

Don't worry. He's only my grandfather.

Don't believe what he says, young girl.

But we love each other very much.

Obviously ! What ?

Could you stop screaming like that, she's my best student!

student?

What are you talking about?

I am a riding instructor in this seminary for young women.

You took advantage of my absence to become a riding instructor?

Plus you live next door to me. Where is your famiIiaI pride?

You have to know how to do without it.

Blackmailing ! Do you think I'll buy you?

I did not think about it, but it's a good idea.

You think you'll get away with it like that ?

Where can I see the woman who runs this school?

I have to talk to him!

Do it. She will be happy to know my grandfather.

- Look out, here comes Lord Wytham. - I am leaving.

He is like his father.

Cursed rider!

You may like it, but he doesn't like you very much.

But if.

- He likes me. - I hope !

- Why is he mad at you? - He's not mad at me.

He was angry with my father, and I got involved.

He wants me to apologize but I don't want it.

If I wanted to, he would be at my feet.

Me, I wouldn't like it.

- And me, if I were at your feet? - You would be different.

In that case, do me a favor. Its very important.

Do you think I could?

You would be the only one in the world to be able to do it.

Ask MIIe Rose to help shopping next Wednesday.

- Shopping ? - That's a good excuse.

Really ? To Miss Rose?

She said she would?

It's wonderful!

No.

Not a word.

Brave girl!

I have to go. I also have to go shopping.

No need to tell me what it is. Something golden and shiny.

Come in.

What did you want? I am very busy.

I would like to ask you something.

What do you want my dear?

I have something important to ask you.

Mr. Goeffrey goes to war. He was so nice to me,

I was thinking of doing something to thank him.

That's what you teach us. To give back what we were given.

This is not part school rules.

What would you do for him?

Could I invite him to have tea?

Here ? At school?

If you please, he will leave to war!

Well we can probably to make an exception...

But don't talk about it to the other girls, is that okay?

It's understood ! Thanks !

Thanks ! Thanks a lot !

I hope Sarah won't have no problem!

No, I think she'll understand.

You forgot your ring!

No, there she is!

I was afraid that MIIe Minchin don't see it.

Yesterday I forgot to take it off, but she saw nothing.

As I would like to tell him, My dear...

It wouldn't help...

I say. Have you ever thought to marry me?

- I thought you didn't know. - I just wanted to hear you say it.

I couldn't imagine live away from you.

We'll never be apart because I will live for both of us.

I thought you invited M. Goeffrey to have tea?

Yes, but...

Who is in this room?

Please don't go.

- MIIe Minchin, MIIe Rose and I... - We were saying goodbye.

You put into play the reputation of my school.

None of this will harm to the reputation of the school.

Actually, MIIe Rose and I...

You're welcome...

Please, everything is my fault.

As you are here, enjoy to say goodbye to you.

Do it. Now !

Goodbye Goeffrey.

Goodbye Mr. Goeffrey.

Bye darling.

Sarah, I'm waiting for an explanation.

Yes, Mrs. Minchin...

if I find one.

SOUTH AFRICA List of missing

They try to take all english people.

I follow you !

My son! My son!

They killed my son.

Otherwise, I will be lost.

My daddy will never come back...

Mafeking is liberated!

Thank you for listening to me.

Nothing nothing... Mafeking is liberated!

MIIe Minchin, it's wonderful! You heard ?

- How happy I am! - My dad is free!

Can I have your attention?

Circumstances allow us to celebrate Sarah's birthday

at the same time as the release of our gIorious soldiers.

Sarah, can you let us know of your wishes?

I am very happy that you are here.

I just received the gifts that I wanted to offer you because...

i want to show you how happy i am

may my daddy be saved.

Can we see the gifts now ?

Yes, but your presents first Sarah.

That's from me.

Thank you Miss Minchin!

And this is to remind you your stay in India.

Oh, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

And now do you want do the others have their gifts?

Your name is listed on each of them.

This is for you MIIe Rose.

Do you want to see the other gifts?

This is for you, Miss Minchin.

A gift for you.

A picture of me in my happy days.

When I was an artist.

Thanks. We should keep this secret gift.

- And not a word! - That's for sure !

That's from me. I hope you will like it.

It's exactly what I wanted.

Don't use it while working?

Here is my present, but he is not very pretty.

many happy returns

But it's not a gift brand new.

Becky, you did it.

It took me all night to do it.

It's beautiful Becky, I love it.

Even if it's not brand new?

But mine isn't new either.

For me ?

Yes Becky, with all my love.

What's this ?

It's an Egyptian medal.

My daddy gave it to me because may she be lucky...

and i think you need it more than anyone.

I think I'm going to pass out.

Oh no. Not now.

I have other gifts for you in my room.

I do not know what to say...

It is very beautiful.

Look at mine.

Excuse me, but Mr. Barrows would like to see you.

Today ? I didn't ask to see him!

He seems very embarrassed. He's waiting in your office.

I'm going right now.

you tell me when will it be 2 o'clock?

I have a date with my dad.

He must be thinking of me at 2 o'clock precise.

I'll watch the time.

Thanks for the tissues, They are lovely.

It's time to cut Ie cake, right?

Oh yes, the cake.

Does the party cost you dearly?

Not bad indeed, It's not serious,

I will soon receive his check.

No, you will not receive of check.

What ?

What did you mean?

Late Captain Crewe...

Late Captain Crewe!

Captain Crewe is dead. We put it on this morning's list.

Moreover, he went bankrupt.

Failure?

But his property and his mine?

Confiscated by the enemy.

His daughter is destitute? We leave her with nothing?

EIIe is destitute and in your hands.

We don't know him other family.

His father's account is not exposed.

I was waiting for his check to pay for the party.

I understand.

It's a plague.

Now I gotta make a wish and blow out all the candles.

I hope my daddy will be back soon.

Take your breath well.

I don't have much luck.

I'll kick it out.

You are sure ? And the reputation of your school?

My school?

Parents wouldn't like it other students.

It is probable.

Make her an employee until that she has repaid her debt.

But that would take years.

So what? It's better than nothing.

Sarah, it's almost two o'clock!

Daddy, I'm thinking of you,

and I know that wherever you are

you also think of me.

Miss Rose, I spoke to her!

Miss Minchin wants to talk to you.

Very well.

Children, leave your gifts here.

Why ? Where are they going? And their gifts?

You can not offer them to them.

I don't understand !

You will understand later. Go to your room.

Go to your room.

The others too.

- Tell me what is happening ? - What's going on?

Your attitude does not facilitate things.

Captain Crewe is dead.

His name was on the list today.

The child has nothing left.

You have to tell him.

I couldn't do that.

I tell you to do it.

Why did MIIe Minchin have

I have something to tell you.

Miss Rose, what's going on?

You are the daughter of a soldier...

and you know how to be brave when it is needed.

Whatever happens.

Is it so horrible?

Your father...

My father is fine. Mafeking is released,

you know it like me.

I wish that was true...

his name was on the list this morning.

The list of injuries?

No my Darling.

My daddy... is...

Sarah, I'm really sorry.

It is not possible, it is false. I do not believe you.

He is not dead!

Have you got... ?

You can dispose.

You understand that you you can no longer occupy this room.

Come with me.

This is your new room.

I'll have to sell your furniture and your clothes

to repay debts.

You could go to the orphanage,

but I prefer that you stay here.

You will have things to do, do not be afraid.

I hope you enjoy my kindness.

I couldn't find a black dress,

but one of the girls gives you this.

You can wear it for mourning.

I'll get you some shoes.

I do not believe it.

I do not believe it !

My dad has to go...

but he will come back one day.

Every time I think about it... my dad will come back to me.

MIIe Minchin will sell all his business.

It's disgusting to have to give back our gifts.

Well, what do you think now of your little princess?

Can I do anything?

Sarah, I'm sorry.

Sarah, now you you will sit more with us.

Go back to your room and tie your hair

and go to the kitchen.

Immediately.

Lavinia, take your place on my right.

AIors MIIe Minchin brought you here?

EIIe told me to take my breakfast here.

There are many other things to do before having breakfast.

I will be happy to help you.

Really ?

Look what you are doing !

For the pain, no breakfast.

Ming, toast some more toast for the ladies.

Here's your breakfast, take it. We're closer to kings.

Let me help you !

She can manage on her own.

Watch it eat it, it will serve you as a lesson!

Please can I give my breakfast at Becky?

I'm not hungry this morning.

Give it to the cat if you want, and go to work!

I have to do the dishes.

No, I do not want it.

The mail has just arrived.

I'll take the mail.

My darling,

I went half crazy trying to find a solution.

But I found it:

My grandfather changed his mind. May this money and my love

help you bear what the future holds for us.

You say that girl teach at home?

She was teaching, but I fired her. We won't hear from her again.

I was ready to give a nice sum to this boy on his return.

I even gave him a credit.

There was also this in the letter.

You don't seem to like this girl a lot.

Few, given the circumstances.

Anyway, Does she have any rights over him?

I gave him all my affection.

So why didn't she say anything of their love?

In the future, if a letter of M. Goeffrey arrives,

send it back unopened!

I am happy to see you.

It's cold here.

I wonder where MIIe Rose is? I miss her a lot.

We are all the only two now.

No, we are not alone... There is my father.

Your father ? But the cooks say...

You must not believe them. It's not true.

He is not dead.

He may be hurt

but he is not dead.

How do you know?

Something tells me. Sometimes I hear him call me.

But you smoke!

Today, the English army is behind me!

You are in uniform! Aren't you going to war?

But if !

Why ?

I don't want to stay with a TYran.

You treat Sarah like less than nothing!

I prefer horror battlefields!

Do you dare to criticize me?

But it proves that I trust

in men who are at the gates of death.

After this, no need to ask my help for anything.

I'm very calm...

ready for the fight

and after that the boards English women will see me reappear.

Ridiculous! You wouldn't do that to me!

You think ? And goodbye little girl!

Were you in Mafeking?

That's where I was hurt!

You must know my father?

Your father ? What is his name?

Captain ReginaId Crewe.

Your father is a captain?

Yes. They say he's dead but I know that is wrong.

Maybe you can tell me?

No I can not.

But why don't you ask in the hospital?

- Maybe they know. - Thank you sir.

That little princess!

I thought you were leaving to war!

Lord Robert wanted me to go there, but he told me:

''Naughty boy, you're hurt!

So stay here to regain courage.

And now I almost the charge of the hospital.

Can my father be here?

I know he is not dead. Could he be among the wounded?

I'm pretty sure he's there.

If you are responsible, can I see inside?

Yes, of course you can.

Mr. Bertie, how did you got this pIace so fast?

DiscipIine here is pretty soft...

Oh Major! They are waiting for you, there's no rubbish up there!

I'll get one of my men to take care of it.

Look for what?

I said nothing.

You don't feel like wasting your time?

Please, the Major help me to find my father.

Whose father?

His, sir.

I knew Captain Crewe assumed dead at Mafeking.

The child is sure that there is a mistake, I help him to search among the wounded.

can you say something on my father?

Sorry darling, I can't.

Carry on Major!

The father of this child was killed, but she insists on checking.

Let's see in another room.

Attention guys.

Official inspection!

He's not here either. Surely someone must know him.

Excuse me, were you in Mafeking?

I was there...I even was injured by a bomb.

Over there the bombs rain more than the baIIs.

You didn't know my father.

Surely not.

But I had a fever.

Thank you sir.

It's nothing.

Hello.

Please, were you in Mafeking?

Sure !

That's where I was.

So you know my father, Captain Crewe.

Yes of course... He's a handsome officer, huh?

Where have you seen my father? Where is he now?

- Where is who? - My father !

A soldier more or less.

I make thousands.

But they weren't afraid like me.

I was afraid of the noise, that's why I ran away.

He knows my father but he doesn't want to talk about it.

He lives in a dream, he doesn't know what he is saying.

Sing us a song!

What do you think about that ? Could we do it?

Not today.

Come on honey... let's try to make something for them.

Okay I will try.

Mike will accompany us in music.

Mr. Bertie, can I come back tomorrow?

You don't have to go out too often princess.

We have to regain strength.

Do not worry. I'll take a look at the new ones.

You don't really believe me.

But if, of course... I already told you, we often find men.

So I'd better come back.

You wouldn't recognize it maybe not.

Alright, you'll be back.

- Goodbye, Mr. Bertie. - Bye darling.

You are hungry ?

Poor little things! You must be cold this morning!

You feed to your friends ?

I couldn't do it I last night.

It is difficult for them.

what you just did is not good !

She's here, on the bookshelf.

The bookshelf?

I always imagine it's a shelf filled with beautiful books.

I better take it back before it settles down.

Is this your room?

Yes, it's so high that one could believe oneself in a nest.

I can even lie down on the sofa

and look at the sky through the window.

It looks more like a sofa when it is well done

and that I have the cushions on it.

How often do you make a fire?

That's the hardest thing to imagine, especially at night...

but when you can it's lovely.

We imagine the flames which delay the night.

The cook wants to see you, she's in her mood!

Excuse me, I have to go.

I'm going to get scolded if I don't hurry.

Listen to this: 1,200 hurts have arrived at the hospital this morning.

Do they give names?

No, but I hope my Harry is part of.

Yes, a hurt husband is better no more husbands at all.

Becky, I have to go to the hospital before the end of the visits.

How clumsy, you will be punished for that!

Oh mama... Sarah will be deprived of meals,

but everything will be clean before she leaves.

Do you know who you're talking to? Clean up that mess, hurry up.

There is a new hurt in this room.

Doctor, we don't know who it is. His papers are lost.

He has symptoms of the maIaria.

Here is his state of health.

Weak pulse, weak breathing. It's normal in its condition.

But he is not lucid and does not return to him.

Leave him a nurse.

He was hit hard.

He keeps repeating that name, Sarah.

Anyone know who this Sarah is?

No sir.

You have to establish your identity.

You should go... I will finish in your place.

Thank you, Becky. I have to go.

Where are you going like that ?

MIIe Lavinia wants coal for his room. Go quickly!

Sarah, you look so tired. And what a head you have! Are you hungry ?

Yes I'm hungry ! So hungry that I could eat you.

I want a lot. It's my father who pays!

A moment !

Our princess seems in a hurry. Would she go to the baI?

Come back here and clean the hearth!

I would like my shawl. He is on the bed.

Cover me, please.

I find this room a little cold.

what are you doing outside at such a time?

I come to see the new wounded.

Not this evening. It's closing time.

But you have to. I came on purpose!

Cash!

Let me in! I'm sure he's here this time.

You are always sure. I'm sorry, come back tomorrow morning.

He is recovering from the fever, but no injuries.

- Are you advising an operation? - Yes. You agree ?

Doctor MacNee and me we'll take care of it.

Stay with him until tomorrow morning.

Yes, doctor.

Where are you from ?

Answer me !

Did you go out?

How dare you disobey me?

He was doing it. I am looking for my father.

It's ridiculous to look for your father.

Stop dreaming and imagine things.

It's indecent!

I need you to understand that your father is dead.

Never say that! He is not dead!

You can't stop me to hope.

How dare you talk to me about that little tone...

I expect you tomorrow morning.

I can't take it anymore, I'm cold, and I'm hungry... you hear?

No, you don't hear anything,

you're just a doll just a doll!

A doll !

You are nothing but a doll!

Your Highness, please excuse me but

we stole something.

There's a hungry woman outside who wants to tell you about a veiled kiss.

Tell him to go away or come back another day.

I told him to leave but she refuses.

If she doesn't see you, she will shout it.

- Tell him to calm down. - She won't calm down.

- Tell him to leave. - I'm afraid she won't stay.

I won't calm down, I won't leave,

I know my rights and I know what I saw.

- What did you see ? - I saw it.

Who did you see?

I saw this man steal a kiss

to this young girl.

They did not respect Ia Ioi of the kiss.

Your Highness, the Ioi says no one can't steal a kiss

in this country.

There is a law that says so.

Nobody

can't keep a kiss.

Princess, it's not a matter of vol.

Silence, I know the law, what I saw, I saw.

What she tells us may be true, and in this case what should we do?

Let's listen to the young man.

Objection! That wouldn't be wise! He would tell you lies!

Come this way. What do you have to say ?

Your Honor,

I recognize that when I saw her, I couldn't resist!

I had to kiss her.

And I kissed her! Twice...

and it was very pleasant.

So he kissed her! Twice, and it was pleasant.

He therefore violated the law.

I saw what I saw.

Don't start over.

But he stole a kiss. It's not good.

Yes, it's true... I will have to punish you.

No, please let me explain to you.

It didn't happen that way.

He didn't steal a kiss from me, I gave it to him.

Like that !

I knew it was not a voI.

I'm not sure !

Could I see that kiss again?

You're right, he didn't steal it.

We have abused the Ioi! This man was accused for nothing.

No one is guilty.

That old witch must go in prison.

You are very mean.

Princess, I am simply human...

Listen ! You are a mean woman.

Banish Ia from here forever! I don't want to see you again!

Banish Ia from here forever! We don't want to see you again!

I saw what I saw!

Come close to me.

Your kiss has made very clear things.

Thanks Princess.

Do not thank me. This kiss has set you free.

And now let's have fun.

Bring on the dancers! Bring on the singers!

Have you seen her?

She is a very good dancer! She reminds me of someone!

What a beautiful dream!

I don't want to wake up.

I sleep again !

I must be dreaming.

I dream.

Looked !

Do you see like me?

I don't know what you see but I can't believe my eyes.

Did you see that ?

What do you see ?

A fire.

And a table with food and a lamp and slippers.

How did this all get here? Did you imagine it?

I do not know.

I never imagined all of this.

If little Sarah knew, she would thank you.

I don't want thanks.

That's wonderful.

Thanks. Here, put this one.

- Isn't she wonderful? - Oh yes !

It's perfect.

But it suits you very well too!

Let's try the slippers!

Do they suit you well?

They are soft and warm.

That too is soft and warm.

It may not be a dream after all.

And the meal, is it a dream?

I smell capers. And you?

Muffins!

It tastes like a muffin! Is it one?

And better than ever!

It must be magic! We should take advantage of it right away.

- How was the night? - He slept well.

- Can we transport it? - No problem.

Prepare it and take it in building D.

- We'll be leaving in an hour. - Okay, doctor.

I have heard that were you punished?

- Do you think we offer him a chocolate? - You should not.

Miss Minchin wouldn't object! Would you like one?

I don't want to feel them, nor eat them in front of you.

You do not want ! Why ?

I have much better things to eat only chocolate.

Poor little princess, always dreaming!

I don't imagine anything.

I have things that no one has ever had to eat.

Little liar! You don't even have had breakfast.

Sorry, but I got one...

and allow me to add that it's not poIi

to call me a liar.

How dare you answer me?

I answer you? Oh my God !

I'll tell everything to MIIe Minchin!

- Are you still there Becky? - Yes.

It's still raining!

You go out ?

I go to the hospital.

Maybe everything will change for us !

Maybe I'll find my father and he will get us out of here.

what happened in this room ?

I would like to know. I woke up and everything was there.

Where did you get these things?

I do not know. Maybe my dream has come true.

These are rare things and expensive...

Did you steal them?

We didn't take them.

I give you one last chance to tell me the truth.

I tell you the truth. They arrived like that.

She is telling the truth!

You, go to your room! It's a case for the police.

Don't call the police.

I will be embarrassed!

We are prisoners and the police will arrive.

I mustn't be stopped!

New injuries are in the hospital. I have to see them.

I don't see how could you do.

Come with me !

- Where are we going ? - Follow me.

I'm afraid !

Me too. Give me your hand.

Do not be afraid.

What's happening to you Miss Sarah?

Could we come in? We are trying to evade the police.

What a fun game! Would you like to come in?

We would love to.

You look rushed.

Would you take the time for a cup of tea?

We can not.

Still playing with the police?

I hope they don't get you!

Stop them!

Go! Let's run!

Run after the other! I take care of that one.

Becky, where are you?

Damn little plague! You'll go to jail for that!

You will never catch it! Mr. Bertie will see her today.

So that's where she's going!

You asked me?

Watch her until I get back.

Did you find it?

It is nowhere. You have an idea ?

Yes.

HarbIe Hospital and hurry up!

He never stops calling her.

You can't go home! No visitors for an hour.

It will be too late.

Be a nice little girl.

Sorry, no visitors before an hour.

But we have to go!

I can't let you in.

You cannot go up.

I have to go there before MIIe Minchin do not catch me!

Cash!

You cannot enter here.

Let me pass. I have to pass.

What does this child want?

Don't let him take me.

What's going on?

My father. They said that he died at Mafeking,

But I don't believe it.

He may be among the new hurt... i have to look.

If I can't I won't have another chance.

Can you help me ?

Can you accompany this child through the hospital?

With your permission, I will Accompany him, Your Majesty!

What is your name?

Victoria. And yours?

Sarah.

Your Majesty.

I hope you find your father.

Thank you, your Majesty.

- Goodbye, my child. - Goodbye.

have you been to see convaIescents?

Not yet.

It's better to start there.

- We're looking for a patient. - Very well.

Go ahead.

- How are you ? - Thank you darling.

Mr. Goeffrey! You are back !

Have you seen my father?

Goeffrey was not at Mafeking.

You do not know ?

You haven't even seen it?

No honey, I haven't seen it.

Of silk.

Did you find it?

No. It's my friend Goeffrey and his wife.

Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton.

I can't introduce you because I don't know your name.

This is Colonel Gordon.

Do not bother.

Been to Mafeking?

An army muIe, and English with it.

It's time for the meds.

I'll be back later MIIe Rose. As soon as I have made the rounds of the halls.

I will wait for you.

Come back anytime Sarah.

The poor little one She will never stop hoping!

I insist that you call my brother.

Very well. But you will not enter. Brother or no brother.

We will enter, my brother will take care of it.

I don't doubt it, ma'am.

This man must wait the next ambulance.

You should move it. There's a draft here.

I'm sorry you couldn't find your father.

- It's always like that. - Stay hopeful.

- I'll try. - Goodbye.

- I know they were stolen. - Sara? It is impossible!

I will refer it to the authorities. She is here and I will find her.

I demand that we look for it.

Father ?

Dad, I found you!

They said you were dead but I knew not.

Hold me, hold me tight.

You won't leave again, will you?

What's up daddy? Why don't you talk to me?

You do not recognize me ? It's me, Sara!

Where is my daughter?

Dad, something happened to you!

You have to recognize me. Look at me ! Look at me !

You don't have to cry.

We must be good soldiers.

I was a good soldier. You do not recognize me.

My little Sarah never cries.

I am Sarah, I am Sarah!

Don't be ridiculous, Amanda.

And all things of value who were in his room, huh?

Maybe a little bird They brought them. I don't mind.

All that I know, it's that Sarah didn't steal anything.

Guess what happened!

The little princess has found his father.

- Terrific! - Is Captain Crewe alive?

Of course, otherwise she wouldn't have found it.

Mr. Bertie, I found my father!

I'm really happy !

My dad !
