[The Blood of Youth]

[Episode 35]

But now,

half the people in Tianqi City

are watching us.

We

have more enemies now.

It's not only us who are interested

in the name list.

I'm sure there are many people

watching Xiao Yu

as well.

So,

we have the same enemies.

Your Highness,

we've been

drinking tea for an hour now.

Are you asking me to leave, Eunuch Jade Deity?

I wouldn't dare to.

I just think

that you have more important things to do.

The investigation should be your priority.

What if the person

I'm looking for is here?

A felon is hiding in the palace?

That's quite a bold joke,

Your Highness.

But often, the most dangerous place

is also the safest one.

If you don't believe me,

you may search the place.

Never mind.

If you see him,

please tell him

that if he wants to live,

I am his best choice.

I see you off, Your Highness.

[Baixiao Sect]

These

are the legendary six Iron Masked Men

in charge of the secrets of the world

in Baixiao Sect.

What an honor.

I got to meet

such mysterious figures today.

No more words.

You've seen the head.

Iron Masked Men are nothing.

The joint petition from the officials you have

is the most important intelligence

in the world now.

Name your price.

You want the seller to make an offer?

That's cunning.

I want to know what you are offering.

Baixiao Sect always offers fair prices

and always gives

the best value for money.

I'd like to help Jinyan.

It's simple.

I want to protect his life.

Can you offer that?

Lord Bai has received an order

from Emperor Mingde

to personally lead the Court of Judicature to investigate this case.

They went to Hongqing Hall

earlier today.

Director Jinxuan went there too.

Thirty-seven officials

of all statuses in Tianqi City

have sent their assassins

to find Jinyan.

Given the current situation,

if he wants to leave the city now,

even if Baixiao Sect mobilizes all forces,

we only have 70 percent confidence

to keep him alive.

Seventy percent

is not enough.

Seventy percent is the most

we can offer.

Baixiao Sect can offer 70 percent,

but if the other party

can offer 90 percent,

can I choose to make a deal with them then?

Are you saying

that you want to convene

Baixiao Sect's Three-Party Meeting?

Yes.

Find two more parties,

plus Baixiao Sect,

we will all

lay our cards on the table.

Three-Party Meeting,

the one who comes does not ask, and the one who goes does not care.

We agree.

But other than the list,

Jinyan needs to tell us

all information he has without asking for anything more.

What if

I don't want to?

The door is right there.

You can walk out now.

Baixiao Sect

won't do anything to stop you,

but in an hour's time,

you will be the prey

of the entire Tianqi City.

Eunuch Jade Deity is a wise man.

Jinyan,

say the names of the people you want to see.

Lord Bai, Xiao Chong,

and Lord Chi, Xiao Yu.

Interesting.

What about Lord Yong'an?

I don't think

Lord Yong'an has any reason to help me.

If he sees me now,

he will probably kill me right away.

[Lord Bai, Xiao Chong. The hour of Shen, a few days later. Room of Qianjin Gambling House]

Your Highness,

what's written on it?

Baixiao Sect

invites me to Three-Party Meeting.

Participants of the Three-Party Meeting

cannot reveal

any part of the negotiations,

nor can they reveal

the other participants.

If the rules are broken,

Baixiao Sect

will make things difficult for those who break the rules.

It's a headache

to be targeted by Baixiao Sect.

But I'm very interested

in this Three-Party Meeting.

Why?

I will be able to get the list

without any cost.

This is the best outcome.

Besides,

I already figured out

the identity of the other participant.

I don't think

[Lord Chi, Xiao Yu. The hour of Shen] Eunuch Jade Deity

[A few days later. Room of Qianjin Gambling House] will choose him.

Using an imperial felon to do business.

Baixiao Sect has a lot of guts.

Since it's Three-Party Meeting,

they would invite

three people then.

I'm guessing that besides me,

the other two

are Xiao Chong and Xiao Chuhe.

[Snowfall Villa]

We're not invited?

No, you're not.

Jinyan said

you would never spare him.

Jinyan

is wimpish.

Look

at that confident look on your face.

Have you come up with a bad idea again?

Ruoyi,

come with me to a place early tomorrow morning.

Okay.

These people are funny.

When they want to do something big,

they choose to do it in this gambling house.

Qianjin Gambling House is well located.

It's surrounded by small streets.

The streets are narrow and crowded.

If they try

to mobilize soldiers around

for a siege,

it will inevitably cause chaos.

No one would want to do that.

That's why Baixiao Sect chose this place.

A felon is being offered for sale

in the gambling house,

while everyone outside is trying to catch him.

Baixiao Sect only cares about

the conduct of the Three-Party Meeting.

He will choose

whoever

is fully prepared

to save his life.

That person's perfect preparation

must have one thing,

that is, he can leave

Qianjin Gambling House safely.

Chong, you're here.

I guessed it right.

You are here too.

You look so calm.

You must have confidence that you would beat me.

Lord Chi,

please.

Chong,

I will go first then.

I had already guessed

that you

are behind this,

but I didn't expect

that you would

be here in person, Eunuch Jade Deity.

Even though it's Baixiao Sect's

Three-Party Meeting

and everyone's attendance will be kept confidential,

you've got

a lot of nerves.

I never intend

to hide my identity.

After this,

if Jinyan is safe,

I will ask His Majesty to punish me.

I will resign from all official positions

and go to guard the mausoleum.

Even if His Majesty wants to execute me,

I won't say a word of complaint.

How

loyal of you.

Let's cut to the chase.

Jinyan

just wants to stay alive.

He will trade for the protection of his life

with the list he possesses.

Can you protect him,

Your Highness?

So, he just wants to stay alive?

You don't want to go to the mausoleum

and guard it until you are old.

You can't let go of the power you have today.

If you become a commoner,

you can still be powerful in the martial arts world.

Those powerful people

will still kneel at your feet

to butter you up.

You are the Director of Seal.

You deserve more.

Why do you just want to stay alive?

It's not enough.

I can give you more.

As long as

you give me the list,

I will keep you alive for a year.

What about

a year later?

You will get your power back.

Thank you, Your Highness.

Please wait outside.

How sure are you of making this happen?

Ninety percent.

What about the other ten percent?

Eunuchs,

you both made the wrong choice.

There are

no absolutes in the world.

Jinyan,

you've told so many lies.

How can you not tell

when people are lying to you?

Miss Ji,

please ask Lord Bai to come in.

Farewell.

Your Highness,

Jinyan committed a crime

and deserves to be executed,

but I'm a little selfish.

I want to help him stay alive.

I can grant that.

Do you have any other questions?

I'd like to know

how you will keep him alive.

First of all,

he needs to hand over the list.

Then, we will take away all his martial arts skills,

and he'll be thrown into the Heavenly Prison.

I promise you

that he won't be abused in prison.

He will be served two meals a day

and won't need to do any work.

However,

he can't leave his cell.

He won't have cellmates.

The guards won't talk to him either.

Although his life will be a bit boring,

there is also something to look forward to.

If there is a new emperor's wedding

or a natural disaster,

an amnesty will be announced.

As he is a traitor,

he is not within the scope of the amnesty,

but he turned himself in.

Besides, he offered to hand in the list

to help me investigate the case.

I will convince my father.

This is

how

you will keep me alive?

As long as it is stated

in their written judgment,

the prisoners in the Heavenly Prison will remain alive.

How sure are you of making this happen?

Nearly 100 percent.

Why nearly?

You should know

that

there is no absolute in the world.

If someone tells you

he's 100 percent sure,

he must be lying then.

If you believe him,

you will all die.

I see.

Thank you, Your Highness.

I have one last thing

to say to you, Eunuch Jade Deity.

If you choose someone else,

then I am 100 percent sure

that I will kill Jinyan.

I'm leading the Court of Judicature to investigate the case.

The Court of Judicature

never lets any prisoner get away.

Even if they flee to the corners of the earth,

we will hunt them down.

I have no doubt

that someone has the ability

to take Jinyan away from Tianqi.

However,

for the rest of his life, Jinyan will be hunted

by the Court of Judicature.

Chong, you're out.

How did it go?

You seem to have a lot of confidence.

As it's a case you are investigating, you have more leverage than me.

However,

I've known Jinyan for a long time.

I know him better than you do.

We will choose Lord Bai.

I... I don't want to go to the Heavenly Prison.

You will only lose your martial arts skills

and a few years of freedom.

When you come out of the Heavenly Prison,

you can still

live freely.

They won't try

to kill you again.

And I can keep you safe.

But...

(Why do you just want to stay alive?)

(You deserve more.)

(You are the Director of Seal.)

(Staying alive isn't enough.)

No buts.

You mustn't choose Lord Chi, Xiao Yu.

The reason you ended up like this today

is that you are too greedy

and too obsessed.

You mustn't make the same mistake.

I know. I know, but...

But

I don't want to go to the Heavenly Prison.

Heavenly Prison.

This is the only ending you can offer him.

He knows that place

better than many people.

It's daytime.

You two seem free and comfortable.

What are you doing in a gambling house

when you're supposed to work?

Xiao Chuhe,

what are you doing here?

Since I'm here in the gambling house,

I'm going to join the game, of course.

One of you threatened him,

the other tempted him,

while I am going to do a different thing.

What different thing?

I am going to flip the table.

Calm down, Eunuch Jade Deity.

It's me.

I don't think

we have the name of Lord Yong'an on our list.

But your list

includes Baixiao Sect.

And Baixiao Sect

can be represented

by Lord Yong'an.

That's right.

A felon like you

is meeting with a prince

and the acting minister of the Court of Judicature.

You sure are bold.

But I get it.

You have got nothing to lose now.

Only a few people can help you.

There is only one thing you want now,

and that is, to live, right?

Your Highness,

what do you propose?

You don't have to go to the Heavenly Prison.

And you won't be hunted by the Court of Judicature anymore.

You can live your life happily.

Can you

make that happen, Your Highness?

Of course not.

Why don't you just cut to the chase, Your Highness?

You are very smart indeed,

Eunuch Jade Deity.

I can't make that happen,

but it can.

What is this?

This is the edict that exonerates you.

Take a good look at it.

[Exempt from execution, a lighter sentence for Jinyan.]

Looks like

His Majesty sent you here.

Jinyan is the Director of Seal.

You should know

the seal on it best, right?

I want you to see His Majesty with me.

Take your most precious thing

that everyone outside wants with you.

Looks like they were all wrong.

There is really

someone in this world

who can give Jinyan 100 percent of hope,

and he's not lying.

They did not expect him

to come forward.

Eunuch Jade Deity,

you are trying to make a choice?

That's good.

I love a scene like this.

Once in the game,

I will make sure

to leave the other players with no choice.

We choose you.

As expected of you, Eunuch Jade Deity,

you never disappoint me.

Then let's depart now.

Can you

take us

into the palace safely, Your Highness?

Behind me,

I have a talented young swordsman

and a future female spear deity.

Tiger Soldiers are waiting by the door.

Plus Baixiao Sect's guards.

Is this not enough?

Thank you, Your Highness.

Don't mention it.

Everyone,

I won the game.

Thank you.

Everyone,

Jinyan has chosen

Lord Yong'an.

As promised before,

please leave

Qianjin Gambling House for now.

Don't come

near here again for a day.

Xiao Chuhe!

Don't yell out my name.

What did you offer them?

Would you believe me

if I said I had given him

the edict of exoneration?

I have to admit

that you always think one step ahead of me.

You are better than I am on this.

I've assigned

the case to Chong.

You assigned the case to Chong

because

you need to do this

to appease the Imperial Court and commoners.

But what if

Chong really finds him

and presents the list?

How will you deal with it then?

Are you going to read out the names

in front of the officials

and punish them?

What do you need?

I need a secret edict.

A secret edict

that can exempt Jinyan from execution.

Xiao Se,

why didn't His Majesty

just give the exoneration edict to Lord Bai?

Lord Bai is the acting minister of the Court of Judicature now.

His every move is being watched.

If Father had given it to him directly,

it would have been

like revealing his selfish concern.

And an emperor's selfish concern

must not be known by others.

I get it now.

To avoid criticism,

His Majesty has to

assign someone to investigate the matter openly,

but he also wants to get

the petition in secret first.

So, you went to him

and asked for that secret edict.

I am the only one in the world

who dares to speculate the Emperor's mind.

And I'm the only one who dares to say it to him.

Like father, like son,

you are both cunning foxes.

So have we achieved our goal?

One more step to go.

I believe that person is about

to lose his patience and make a move.

This time,

I will make sure Xiao Yu lose one of his right-hand men.

Eunuchs,

you are still as cautious as ever.

I've offered so much help,

yet you still want to travel at night.

You misunderstood me, Your Highness.

I'm just used

to traveling at night.

Are you coming with us too, Eunuch Jade Deity?

I'm untalented.

I just want to give you one more helping hand.

Thank you for your help then.

Songyu Street is right in front.

I can feel

that the aura here

can be described with these words,

demons and spirits.

Right description, Eunuch Jade Deity.

Why did you

make it sound so scary?

Is it scary?

You've killed

a lot of people in your life.

Do you know

how much fear

these people felt before they died?

At this point,

stop lecturing me.

I know I'm sinful.

I'm sinful,

but

I still want to live.

Someone has put out knockout gas.

Who are you?

Someone who wants you dead.

I recognize you.

You're Grand Preceptor Dong Zhu's

guard.

Is the Grand Preceptor on the list too?

Darn it.

I will leave

the rest to you, Lord Yong'an.

Be careful.

Director of Seal,

are you feeling honored

to be escorted into the city by me?

Your Highness,

thank you for your hard work.

Your martial arts skills have improved a lot

compared to the past, Your Highness.

If you hadn't destroyed

my hidden pulse,

I wouldn't have improved so much.

Sounds like

you owe me a thank you,

Your Highness.

To repay the favor,

I will destroy

your hidden pulse today then.

Jinxuan!

Go now.

The Art of Detachment?

You killed Jinyu?

So what if I did?

You...

An edict from His Majesty!

Lord Yong'an, Xiao Chuhe,

is summoned to the palace.

Greetings, Father.

Your Majesty.

I

deserve to die.

Jinyan,

you didn't want to guard the mausoleum,

so you led the Langya Army into the capital.

That was already a capital offense.

You also tried

to use a treasonous list

in your hands

to make my sons fight against each other.

How should I

punish you for this crime?

Slow

slicing.

Yes, slicing you until you're dead.

But since Chuhe

has told you

that I won't kill you,

I will keep my word.

And I won't

send you to the Court of Judicature.

Thank you for your mercy, Your Majesty.

Thank you for your mercy, Your Majesty!

Hand over

the petition.

You must really want

to know the names on this.

I don't want to.

If it was in my hands, of course I would want to know.

But it's in your hands now, Father.

This secret

should only be known by one person.

If you want to read out the names, go on.

I can guess whose names

are on this without looking.

The first name

must be

Grand Preceptor Dong Zhu.

Father!

Actually,

most of the people on the list

didn't really want to rebel.

They just believed

that I couldn't go on.

Beili belongs to the Xiaos,

but it doesn't have to be mine.

Some of you

want to arrest the people on the list.

If you had really caught them,

I'm afraid

it would be the end of the Imperial Court then.

But after this,

no one will want to

get a new heir from the Xiao family

to inherit the throne again.

Thank you, Father.

My days are numbered.

There's not much I can do to help you.

You

need to learn to help yourselves.

When an emperor rules a nation,

he must win the hearts of the people first.

People's hearts are fickle.

Even if they are grateful

for your mercy this time,

what will happen

if they want to rebel again?

Kill them then.

All of them.

Summon Jade Deity.

Summon Jade Deity!

Your Majesty.

If I release

Jinyan into the martial arts world,

he will be taken advantage of and hunted.

If I send him to the Heavenly Prison,

I suppose

he will resent me.

I will leave him to you.

Jinyan, Jade Deity,

do you have a problem with my decision?

I wouldn't dare to.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

I wouldn't dare to.

Such a slave.

Jade Deity,

take Jinyan away.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Chong'er.

Yes, Father.

About the destruction of this list,

find a way

to let the whole Tianqi City

know about it today.

Yes, Father.

Father,

I have something I need to report.

Go ahead.

When Tiger Soldiers

were escorting Jinyan,

Eunuch Jinxuan disobeyed your order

and tried to stop us.

Please judge this fairly, Father.

Jinxuan!

Come in!

Your Majesty.

Was what Chuhe said just now true?

Please forgive me, Your Majesty.

I was trying

to save Jinyan before he entered the palace.

How...

How... How dare you!

Your Majesty,

I entered the palace with Jinyan

when we were little.

We're not brothers,

but we're closer than real brothers.

His mistake this time

is irredeemable.

I did have selfish intentions.

I wanted to save Jinyan.

But I would still hand over

the list to you, Your Majesty.

Director Jinxuan,

don't you think

you sounded ridiculous when you said that?

Father,

Jinxuan's actions

can't be justified

by his own selfish intentions.

Please give a fair judgment, Father.

Jinxuan,

starting today,

you are grounded at Pingxin Hall.

You are not allowed

to step foot outside without my permission.

Chong'er.

Father.

You will investigate the case of Jinxuan leaving the palace without permission

and trying to take the list.

Yes, Father.

Eunuch Jinxuan

was Father's studying companion.

They grew up together.

You want Father to kill him.

It won't be that easy.

I know.

I didn't intend

to kill him today.

I'm content

that Father has grounded him.

As for what to do next,

I will have to count on you.

This is a hot potato.

However, compared to Director Jinxuan,

Eunuch Jade Deity

seems to be more trustworthy.

I never thought

he could go this far for Jinyan.

He is just a stupid man.

He has the ability and power,

yet all he wanted was to save

a martial brother from a different clan.

That's why

we've taken very different paths.

Have you taken the same path then?

Eunuch Jade Deity and I

have nothing in common either.

In terms of willpower,

I'm not as strong-willed as him.

What about you two then?

Are you now on the same page

because of the small favors you did for each other?

Some ideas we have are the same,

but the paths

we take are completely different.

Chuhe,

looks like we have nothing in common too.

Yes.

We're on two different paths,

but our paths

occasionally cross,

and we'd walk together for a while.

We will eventually have to go our separate ways.

Chong,

the path ahead will only be more challenging.

Father's physical condition...

All diseases are curable.

But it's not easy to treat the illness of the heart.

Your Majesty,

do you have a deep friendship

with Director Jinxuan?

Yes.

Jinxuan

was my studying companion.

He

grew up with me.

That explains why you only locked him up

despite the grave crime he committed.

Being in Tianqi,

especially in high positions,

it's inevitable to make some silly mistakes.

Look at those people

I was with,

one by one,

some are dead,

some have left Tianqi,

and only Jinxuan is still here.

I

really don't want to kill him.

Your Majesty,

you are a nostalgic man.

Hua Jin,

how long do I have to live?

Your Majesty,

don't think about things like this.

You just need to trust me.

Of course I trust you.

I

just have a favor I need to ask.

What is it?

Extend my life

for a few more days

with your medical skills.
