The movie begins in an isolated village  in the Netherlands. A man gets dressed,

prepares his weapons, takes  his dog and goes to church.

A group of men, along with the priest,  arm themselves and head toward the woods.

The man, who lives in an underground shelter,  hears the footsteps of the approaching group.

He observes what is happening outside  through a pipe, then makes a phone call,

but no one answers. One member of the group  starts poking at the ground with an iron bar.

The priest grabs an axe and begins to destroy  the shelter. The man underground uses a smoke

grenade to escape. He makes his way through the  underground tunnels, followed by the armed priest.

The man sneaks out and runs from there. After  a while, he stops and knocks on the ground to

inform his friend, Ludwig, of the intruders.  He warns Ludwig to answer the phone next time.

Then he knocks on the ground again to tell  the same thing to his other friend, Pascal.

This man's name is Camiel, and he makes his way  to the gas station. There he washes his face,

and then heads into a rich neighborhood. He  walks up to a mansion and asks the landlady

if he can take a shower there. She closes the  door in his face, and he walks away disappointed.

Then he notices one mansion with a guest house. He  rings the bell and a man named Richard opens the

door. Camiel introduces himself by the assumed  name Anton, and asks the owner of the house,

if he can take a shower there. Richard  refuses and wants him to leave.

Anton says he is just a traveler who needs help.  Richard closes the door, but Anton states that he

is a friend of Richard's wife. Richard opens the  door again, and his wife, Marina, appears. She

doesn't remember anyone named Anton. He further  declares that he knows Marina, and she cared for

him when he was in the hospital. Richard pushes  him away, and Anton asks if Richard is doing this

because he knows his wife. Richard flares up and  starts kicking him, then beats him with a stick.

Later Richard asks his wife how she knows this  man and if she is hiding something from him. She

denies everything and reminds him of their promise  to always be honest with each other. However,

she feels sorry for the homeless man, and  believes that Richard should have helped him.

Later that day, a nanny named Stina arrives.  Richard reads a story to his children,

after which he informs Marina that he  has urgent work to do. When he leaves,

Marina sees a flashing light in the guest house.  She goes to check it, but finds no one there. Then

she opens the garage and finds Anton. She takes  him to the guest house and gives him a bandage.

Stina shows up, meets them both, and Marina orders  her not to tell anyone that she is going to let

the homeless man take a shower at their place.  Later, Anton takes a bath and has a meal. Marina

gives him some clothes to wear. She is tormented  by guilt that her husband harmed an innocent man,

so she allows Anton to stay in the guest house. The next day, their oldest daughter falls ill,

so she stays home, and Stina takes the other  kids out. The girl notices that Anton is

peeping at them, and tells her mother that she  saw a magician. Marina goes to the guest house

and suggests that Anton leave. She says she  can take him to a private clinic if necessary.

Anton refuses and promises to stay in his room.  He begs to give him a few more days and some food,

Marina agrees and leaves. Anton receives a  message: "Is it time yet? He replies that not yet.

Later that day, Anton takes a bath. Marina's  daughter appears and he offers to read her a

story. Richard returns to the house and gives  Marina a diamond necklace. However, she looks

more disappointed than happy. In the evening  Marina goes to the guest house with dinner.

She goes inside, but the room is  empty. She finds a pair of binoculars,

realizes that their house is completely  visible from there, and leaves.

Meanwhile, Anton is in the house, reading a  bedtime story to all three children. Marina

appears and asks Anton not to enter the house,  as he promised her. Later Marina dreams that

Richard is beating her very violently. Anton  sits on Marina while she sleeps in her bed.

The next day Marina goes to the guest house, but  finds it empty. She goes into the woods and sees

Anton leaving. She asks him why he is leaving  and Anton replies that he is tired of hiding.

Marina wants him to stay anyway. Anton says  it's possible, but there will be consequences.

Then he asks her about their family gardener. Later, Anton calls women named Ilonka and Brenda.

He tells them about the assignment they have  to do. He then takes poison out of his bag

and prepares a weapon. He watches the gardener and  soon shoots him. The gardener falls to the ground,

Anton comes up to him and offers to help drive  him home. Anton gets behind the wheel of the

gardener's car and drives to his house. The  gardener's wife tries to help her husband.

Anton declares that he has already called  a medical team and they should arrive soon.

In the wife’s absence, he knocks the gardener out.  Soon the two women, whom Anton called earlier,

appear and introduce themselves as doctors.  Brenda pretends to examine the gardener, and Anton

removes his tie and gives it to Ilonka. Ilonka  then strangles the gardener’s wife from behind.

They take two buckets, put the couple's  heads in them, and pour cement over them.

Marina finds the gardener's shoe, throws  it away and begins to clean up after him.

Richard arrives there and is surprised  that his wife is doing this kind of work.

He offers to leave it to their gardener, but  she declares that the gardener quit today.

He can't believe it and wants to argue,  but she interrupts him with a kiss.

Richard tells her how much she means to  him, and then their children show up.

A group of villains sit and  watch TV at the gardener's house.

Later, the group uses the gardener's car to get  to the lake and dump the bodies there. A few

hours later, Pascal receives a call from Anton,  and they devise a sinister plan. The next day,

Ludwig and Pascal get rid of a man, who is  going to come and get a job as a gardener.

Anton, shaved and well-dressed, comes to  the house and introduces himself as Camiel.

Richard cannot recognize him and invites  him into the house. Marina recognizes him,

she is impressed and seems excited. Stina drives  the children home in the car. On the way, the girl

notices a body in the bushes. After arriving, she  goes into the woods and finds a wounded man, who

was about to take a job as a gardener. The girl  brings a huge stone and throws it on his head.

At the house, Richard shows Camiel the house and  hires him for a job. That night Marina finds her

daughter's favorite teddy bear torn apart. The  next day, she asks her who did it. The daughter

acts aggressively. She replies that she had  fun doing it, which makes Marina yell at her.

Meanwhile, the ladies dump another body into  the lake, after which Ilonka decides to take a

swim there. Back at the house, a flustered Marina  goes to Camiel and asks him how many names he has.

He replies, however, that he is busy  and needs to concentrate on his work.

She brings him food, but he is not interested.  Later, Stina comes to Marina, and says she wants

to spend time with her boyfriend, since he is  a soldier and they don't get to see each other

often. But Marina tells her to invite her  boyfriend to their place for dinner first.

Soon Marina goes to the guest house. Camiel  says that he needs a team of gardeners,

after which he introduces Ludwig and Pascal to  her. Later that evening, Camiel tells the children

a story to manipulate them. Camiel then sits on  top of Marina while his team enters the house.

Marina wakes up and begins yelling at  Richard, claiming that he beat her again

in a nightmare. She leaves, goes to see Camiel  in the guest house and wants him to kiss her.

But he refuses Marina, asking her to be patient. The next day Stina doesn't show up for work,

and the children are late for school. Ludwig  and Pascal pick them up. They take them to an

abandoned bunker, offer them a strange drink, and  Ludwig pulls out a set of surgical instruments.

At the house, Stina brings her  boyfriend, Arthur, to meet Marina.

The children are back, but  they look tired and sleepy.

Richard comes home for dinner. Stina is asked  to get some flowers for the dinner table.

Stina goes to the backyard, where Pascal tells her  that he will only give her flowers, if she goes

into the guest house. Several hours pass and Stina  does not return, Arthur goes to check on her, but

she is not in the guest house. Stina then returns  to the house with a different attitude. Now she is

aggressive, Arthur tries to calm her down, but  she doesn't listen to him. Richard gives Marina

the bad news that he has been fired from his job. Later at dinner, everyone looks strange and upset.

Richard asks Arthur about his father’s job,  and he replies that his father owns a TV

production company. Richard becomes enraged  and tells everyone that his father has fired

him. Richard begins to insult Arthur. They both  get into a fight and Ludwig knocks Arthur out.

Stina comes to Pascal as he lies in bed. She  wants to keep him company, but he quietly refuses

and asks her to leave. Meanwhile, Ludwig throws  the unconscious Arthur to the side of the road.

The next day, Stina informs Marina that all  three children are sick. Marina calls their

family doctor. Upon hearing this, Stina goes to  Pascal and tells him about it. Soon the ladies

go to the family doctor and kill him. Then they  show up at the house as his replacement. Later,

Pascal gives Stina the same strange drink, which  makes her fall asleep. Ludwig comes into the room

with a set of tools and performs surgery on her.  Camiel sits on Marina, and she has a nightmare

that her husband is torturing her. Then she wakes  up and begins to attack Richard, but he brings her

to her senses. When Richard leaves, she goes  to Camiel and orders him to kill her husband.

Later that night, Marina asks Richard if he would  like a drink. Camiel slips poison into the glass.

One of the daughters goes and gives her father  the drink. He hugs her, she says "Bye, Daddy"

and leaves. The group of villains watch them from  the guest house. Richard dies in front of Marina.

Camiel then enters the house with his  group, and introduces them to her.

Marina takes Camiel into the room and confesses  her love for him. She desperately wants to kiss

him, but he quietly refuses. Meanwhile,  Ludwig and Pascal tie up Richard's body,

go to the water and throw it there. Camiel slips poison into Marina's drink.

She drinks it and lies down on her bed.  Camiel gives Marina a kiss and leaves.

Soon the ladies dispose of her  body as well. Afterwards, Camiel,

along with the three children, the nanny,  and his sinister group, leaves the house and

heads toward the woods. He takes one last  look at the abandoned mansion and leaves.
