(One Year Later)

- Welcome back, Prime Minister. - Welcome back, Prime Minister.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Spare the formalities.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

I have succeeded in my mission of

reaching a trade agreement with the neighboring countries in the North.

Our nation's borders are safe.

Your Majesty can finally be relieved.

With Xiyuan carrying out the mission,

I have nothing to be afraid of.

Having a talent like Prime Minister Song

is a blessing for our country.

Official Pei has been granted the title of Lord of Zhongzhou

and left the imperial court.

I am not knowledgeable.

It is a great honor

to help the Lord of Zhongzhou

and Your Majesty.

(Shen's Rice Shop)

(Beans)

- Congratulations. - Congratulations.

We are having a promotion today!

Those who visit

can buy everything at half price!

- Great! - Great!

Please come inside.

(Shen's Rice Shop) Please come inside.

(Shen's Rice Shop)

Suddenly...

They are no longer husband and wife.

It's a lively day today.

Don't be troubled by anything.

It is really a blessing in disguise.

The Shen family has endured many hardships.

Its business is so much better now.

That's right.

It's all thanks to Prime Minister Song.

And His Majesty's care as well.

That the Shen family achieves its status today.

Official Song definitely helped out a lot

but the Regent...

No.

We should call him the Lord of Zhongzhou now.

Apparently, he resigned last month

and left the capital

and the imperial court.

I wonder what happened.

Miss.

It's all right.

Everyone, don't mind me.

I'm going to get changed.

You have misspoken.

Do you know that Pei Yanzhen, the Lord of Zhongzhou,

is the father of Miss Shen's child?

Right?

You are too talkative.

Watch the show.

Gosh.

Miss.

Are you all right?

It's nothing.

I'm only feeling a little tired.

But you have been having nightmares

for the whole year.

Shen's Rice Shop is finally opened

and Young Master is studying in the academy.

He can participate in the child exam next year.

Do you have other troubles?

Yes.

Everything has become better.

Miss.

Let's get changed

and go back to watch the show.

Perhaps I'm getting old.

I can't stand the noise.

Go on.

I can look for Zai later

to ask about the shop.

What nonsense are you talking about?

You are in the prime of your youth.

How are you old?

I was wrong.

You are the one getting old.

Always nagging

like a mother.

Fine.

Call me if you need anything.

(Might be annihilated.)

(I finally got revenge for that.)

(But why don't I)

(feel happy at all?)

Xiyuan.

Why are you here?

Old Master Shen.

My master rushed back to Lingzhou

because he doesn't want to miss

the opening of Shen's Rice Shop.

Great.

Old Master Shen.

Where is Miaomiao?

I brought some gifts

and want to visit her.

Master.

Didn't we agree before we come?

We are here for my proposal.

You...

Xiyuan.

Go and visit Miaomiao.

She is in a bad mood recently.

Leave Tie Niu's matter to me.

Thank you then.

Go on.

Tie Niu.

Come with me.

Old Master Shen.

These are gifts for you.

Say something.

You spoke a lot with Sister.

Why aren't you talking now?

Zai.

Might be annihilated.

Might be annihilated.

Might be annihilated.

Are you trying to scare me?

Who taught you to say this?

Uncle.

it is just a bird.

Once it is done,

we might lose control.

The Song family

might be annihilated.

What did you say?

Pei Yanzhen,

you will obtain neither the country

nor Miaomiao.

What?

Sister.

What is it talking about?

Official Pei.

What will we do to the Shen family

when the Qin family falls?

Pei Yanzhen?

The Shen family?

The Shen family

might be annihilated.

The Shen family

might be annihilated.

The Shen family

might be annihilated.

Might be annihilated.

Did you say that?

Yes.

The Song family.

Isn't it the Shen family?

Zai.

Zai.

I never asked you this.

When you were captured,

do you still remember

where you were locked up?

Captured?

Xiyuan took me on a trip.

After staying for a few days,

I met you, Mother and Father.

It wasn't Pei Yanzhen?

It wasn't him.

Zai.

Why didn't you tell me earlier?

Why didn't you tell me earlier, Zai?

Sister.

I don't know anything.

I thought

Xiyuan discussed it with you.

Sister.

You didn't ask me as well.

I'm sure he wants you to stay in Regent's Residence

because he wants to get rid of the Shen family.

The only way is to distract Zhan Yue

and meet Pei Yanzhen outside the city.

By then,

the assassins and I will ambush there

and threaten him with his life.

I'm sure we can find Shen Zai.

From the moment

you decided to lay a hand on the Song family,

(The Grand Hall) you and I were

destined to raise arms against each other.

Miaomiao.

Where is Zai?

Don't worry.

He will be here after eating.

(Turns out it was Song Xiyuan who lied to me.)

Uncle.

Mother asked us not to mention it

because she doesn't want you to worry.

Why did you make her cry?

Sister, I...

(That's the truth)

(yet I was blinded.)

(Shen Miao.)

(Your stupid heart.)

(Your stupid heart.)

Miaomiao.

There's something

that we should talk about.

Once it is done,

we might lose control.

The Song family.

might be annihilated.

Little thing.

Why did you fly here?

I'll take you back to Miaomiao.

Once it is done,

we might lose control.

Once it is done,

the Song family

might be annihilated.

Might be annihilated.

Might be annihilated.

Might be annihilated.

The Shen family might be annihilated.

The Shen family

might be annihilated.

Good.

The Shen family

might be annihilated.

The Shen family might be annihilated.

(Pei Yanzhen,)

(you will obtain neither the country)

(nor Miaomiao.)

I should have known.

The bird might be smart

but it still isn't human.

It would never learn something after hearing it once.

You had so many chances

of touching Xiao's scrimshaw deer along the way.

But I only doubted Pei Yanzhen.

You were cautious

in your schemes

so you won't make any mistakes.

You even made a ruse.

Song Xiyuan.

Do I really know you

for all these years?

If Pei Yanzhen wasn't so cruel

and tried to annihilate the Song family,

why would I give up

being a normal businessman

and scheme

to fight for the position of Prime Minister?

You are so shameless!

Do you need to involve my whole family

for your own selfishness?

Do you think you can still be safe

when you are with Pei Yanzhen?

Since you left the Song family after writing the divorce letter,

I had been working with Pei Yanzhen.

I was his subordinate

to help him get the throne.

Until that day, by accident

I heard his conversation with Zhan Yue.

That was when I realized

Pei Yanzhen and the Empress Dowager

will not allow the Song family to grow.

Pei Yanzhen might not

have said anything that hurts the Shen family,

but his heart

will always tell him that rich businessmen

like the Song and Shen family are the ones who have to be sacrificed.

Pei Yanzhen simply promised me.

He said when it's done,

all the Shen family's trade routes

will belong to the Song family.

In truth,

he will never touch the Shen family.

Only the Song family will be sacrificed.

I did it to protect the Song family.

I was backed into the corner

and planned everything.

That's why you sowed discord between us

so I misunderstood him.

I always thought

everything happened because of Pei Yanzhen.

But I didn't expect you to be behind everything.

When did it start?

Was it from the time when the scrimshaw deer was exchanged?

From the time when you took Shen Zai away

to wrong Pei Yanzhen?

From the time when you faked your assassination?

From the time you gave me the bird

or even earlier?

Miaomiao.

You are smart indeed.

I didn't want to deceive you.

But if you were in my position,

you would have done the same.

You schemed too much.

I'm not smart at all.

If I'm not stupid,

I wouldn't have

been fooled

by a bird

until I'm confused about the truth.

You are wrong.

My schemes are not flawless.

If you see clearly,

you will notice all the flaws.

Whether it's me or Pei Yanzhen,

you have never fully trusted either of us.

When something goes wrong,

you will side with the other person

and doubt one of us.

The selfish person

is actually you.

Aren't you afraid

there'd be any accidents?

Everything has both

good and bad sides.

As long as I can be with you,

the bad things

won't be necessarily bad.

I'm not competent.

I don't have any skills.

All I have is the entire country.

If I could have the honor to gain your love,

I'll let go of everything

and give you the country as the dowry.

The country as the dowry.

That was why he didn't say anything

at the temple

because he knew the truth.

He knew both of us were setting him up.

He even knew I lied to him

and doubted him,

but he's willing to walk into the trap.

Miaomiao.

Song Xiyuan.

This is the difference between you and him.

In your eyes,

you want both the country and love.

But Pei Yanzhen

is willing to give up the country for love.

No.

Unfortunately,

Come and take a look.

Take a look.

Why has he returned?

Yes.

Isn't that Pei Yanzhen, the Lord of Zhongzhou?

Why has he returned to Lingzhou?

By His Majesty's edict,

marriage is granted to the Lord of Zhongzhou.

The rest of you, leave at once!

Marriage?

With whom?

He has really returned?

Yes.

I saw it clearly.

It's the former Official Pei,

the current Lord of Zhongzhou.

Is he

doing well?

He was granted a marriage by His Majesty.

How can he be doing well?

What?

The imperial edict

is obviously Song Xiyuan's plan

to break off both of you.

Why are you still thinking about marriage?

Can you think normally?

Pei Yanzhen's decline from Regent

is partly the Shen family's fault.

Do you think he will forgive us now that he has returned?

What a surprise.

I thought I was wrong about Pei Yanzhen.

Turns out I was wrong about Song Xiyuan as well.

Why don't we hide for a while?

Miss Shen.

Miss Shen.

Constable Zhao, you...

Miss Shen.

His Highness sends a message.

Let him speak.

Miss Shen.

There will be an auspicious event in our residence soon.

His Highness misses his son.

Please send him there so they can be reunited.

What's wrong?

What's wrong?

This is serious.

It hurts.

It hurts. It's going to fall off.

What do you want?

I'm just a messenger.

There's no use in blaming me.

It has been a long time since we saw each other.

Let's not mention him.

Actually, I come to Shen's Residence today

to propose.

Is there a grudge between us?

I haven't visited for so long

but you come on the day of my visit.

Remember.

Don't reveal my identity.

Why?

Are you shy?

Why should I be shy?

Just listen to me.

Look. There are so many people.

As the saying goes,

the country has its laws

and a family has its rules.

His Highness is going to marry Her Highness.

And there are two concubines.

Listen well.

Don't hide your abilities.

If you miss out on the Lord of Zhongzhou,

you will never find

such a great husband

in Lingzhou ever again.

Right?

- Exactly. - Indeed.

Adjust that string.

I chose my husband back then

and he is finding a wife now.

He is

getting three instead of one.

Darn you, Pei Yanzhen.

You're quite something.

Miss, there's no need to worry.

Young Master will be taken care of

by His Highness.

However, His Highness

is busy preparing for his wedding.

The courtyard is used to choose the concubines.

Please stay here

and not run around.

This way, please.

All right. Stand up.

Come. Hurry up.

You may begin.

I thought you were in a bad situation

but this event is on a greater scale than mine.

When Official Pei

was still the Magistrate,

he was the greatest young man in Lingzhou.

Although he is in a slightly bad situation right now...

He is still the lord.

He is just as impressive as before.

As the saying goes,

a remarried guy is good.

All of you have to perform well

and get the first place.

What are you doing here?

The exam has started.

I'm not...

Go.

I...

Come. Quickly.

Sit down.

All right.

You may begin.

His Highness said

a woman should manage the house well.

Making good calculations means having a clear heart.

His Highness

loves to eat osmanthus cake.

Everyone,

show your best cooking skills.

(He used to say he only eats the osmanthus cake I made.)

(Seems like he has changed.)

(Don't you hate sweet food?)

(Fine.)

(I'll make it so sweet.)

(You will be feeling sick from sweetness.)

Keep this.

Sure.

Miss.

It's you.

You can stay.

I don't mind if we are competing in cooking or calculations.

Why do we need to compete in such boorish events for the selection?

His Highness appreciates martial arts.

Those who enter Pei's Residence

should have a common interest with His Highness.

That's right.

If you have a weak body,

you should forfeit immediately.

His Highness is handsome and talented.

His concubine should help bear his children.

Wonderful. It's you.

Stay here.

Don't you know that?

Do you need me to teach you?

When did Pei Yanzhen...

When did His Highness become someone like that?

You strike when the iron is hot.

What's done cannot be undone.

What do you...

Why do you

I don't usually sound like this.

Perhaps I've caught a cold.

I should avoid seeing His Highness

This is a good opportunity.

Don't waste it.

Otherwise, you'll be late.

That's not good.

Why are you still standing here?

His Highness is waiting for you.

Her Highness hasn't married His Highness yet.

Doing that

What's wrong with that?

When the imperial court granted the marriage,

it was said that good things come in pairs.

So His Highness can have more than one concubine.

His Highness favors you.

You should go.

She is so lucky.

She is favored by His Highness as soon as she arrives.
